Reviews for Hotel Esperia
Review 1:Nothing really but the bathroom could do with a few hooks for towels and a shelf in the shower cubicle. Hope the management note this.
Review 2:We'll run hotel, friendly, helpful staff. Excellent location with a tren station within a few hundred metres. Each room has a small balcony. Decent breakfast. Air conditioned Parking in the hotel grounds.
Review 3:The only one, in the same time "+" and "-" location - trains at night if you sleep with open window)
Review 4:Location. Not too far from Genoa, 1min to train station; friendly staff.
Review 5:We booked the hotel because of its excellent rating and it was half way in a long journey. We have young children so a pool was essential in August. Only when we got there did we discover that the pool was not part of the hotel and had to be paid extra. Ok we thought but then on arriving at the 'beach club' it was anything but child friendly and we left after an hour due to a disagreement with the staff who were less than friendly. They almost rolled their eyes when we mentioned that we were from the hotel too. The Waitress staff in the morning were also unfriendly. At breakfast, more rolling of eyes, it was a chore for them to find us a baby seat and then we were automatically put outside in the blazing sun. When my wife informed one of the waitresses that the cream cake that was being served was off, she was told it was just the flavour of the strawberries, without the waitress even checking (my wife is a trained chef). The bathroom did also have mildew on the walls and ceiling. I do not recommend this hotel for families.
Review 6:The air conditioning was a lifesaver but apart from that the hotel was nothing special
Review 7:The staff made us feel very welcome. The room was very comfortable and had a great view of the water. The room was made up and clean every evening when we returned. The location was a two minute walk from the water and spectacular views.
Review 8:Nothing
Review 9:This is a family run hotel and is reflected in the welcome you receive. The rooms are recently decorated and the meals were elegantly presented and typical Italian quality. It is located on the main train line so great for travel in the liguria region without the car.
Review 10:The location is perfect. Only a few metres from the beautiful park, we were able to take the dog for a walk with ease before walking along the coastal path, taking in the stunning views and stopping for pizza. The hotel is clean and the staff were all excellent. The styling may be a little dated, but I quite liked that. We stopped off here on the way to Tuscany and were very pleased we did. Of the 4 hotels we stayed in, this was our favourite.
Review 11:looking for dinner on a Saturday evening when all the crowds are out for the evening walk. You may have to queue unless you go early 7.00 pm for a sea view with your pizza.
Review 12:A short walk from the promenade footpath that runs for about a mile on the rocks above the beaches and coves of this 19th century resort . Eating a delicious Italian breakfast on the terrace in the sun .
Review 13:The very convenient location near to the sea and train station. The staff were very relaxed and friendly and offered helpful advice about where to go in the local area. Very good value overall.
Review 14:The bed wasn't a double was two singles matresses together, we have been bitten by flies or bedbugs badly, the night staff on one night was chautting at us to go to bed because he wanted to sleep
Review 15:How close it is to the beach and station
Review 16:Very loud music from somewhere on the promenade 3 nights running till midnight.
Review 17:Good hotel with easy access to the train, town, park and the sea front. Lovely view from the balcony of the sea. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 18:The hotel staff does not speak English. There's no frige and safe in room.
Review 19:The dining area is surrounding by trees! The balcony is overlooking the garden with trees and the sea. Lovely lobby with comfortable sofas. Quite garden away from people passing by the road outside. Though next to the train stayin, the noise level is really low. 20 meters to train station, 50 meters walk to beach, 200 meters away to bus stops heading to downtown Genoa.
Review 20:We wanted to spend time in Genoa and also by the sea; the Hotel Esperia - three minutes from the station, four minutes from the sea, and five minutes from an enormous and beautiful park - enabled us to combine 3 holidays in one.
Review 21:Staff who served breakfast weren't as friendly as the lovely gents on reception.
Review 22:Excellent location to start exploring this part of the coast and being next to the train station was a plus not a minus.
Review 23:This is not exactly a criticism but the age profile at this hotel is quite old. We are a mature couple and we were by far the youngest people there. It didn't bother us but it might be an issue for younger travellers.
Review 24:Great location - right beside train station so we had easy access to the Cinque Terre. View of the sea. Really helpful staff - they printed out our plane tickets and gave us useful directions for driving into Genoa.
Review 25:We found the hotel very comfortable and the staff very welcoming, the room was well furnished, clean and comfortable, the hotel is close to the sea and the railway station and is a good base for exploring the area.
Review 26:- Although based on description, the room had a safe and hair dryer, none of these were present. - room walls very thin - Price for a 3* property way too high (although it was supposed to be a Value Deal)
Review 27:staff very helpful
Review 28:Bad beds. Room required for non smoking and bad cigarette smell inside. Wi fi ofered, but really only one hour free and then you have to pay for internet conection.
Review 29:Well located.
Review 30:It would be nice to have tea facilities in the room.
Review 31:Great location near to Genova, Cinque Terre and other places - maximum an hour by train to each of them. Comfortable room with sea view from small balcony. Hair dryer was available at the reception. All receptionists are very nice and friendly and assisted with all our questions.
Review 32:Access to pool on waterfront, but seats and parasol need to be paid. Pool at 200m. Restaurant of hotel is simple and tries to rush their clients.
Review 33:Close to Geneva which can easily be reached by train. Station is at 100m. Nervi Parcs are close by and nice to walk in. Nice restaurant at pool.
Review 34:The front desk personnel were limited in alternative language skills. However, in Italy people readily understand one's needs so this in itself should not keep people from booking into this secluded and yet easily accessible hotel. The short access road is paved but very narrow.
Review 35:This hotel is clean and ideally located if one wants to avoid the center of Genoa. The train station is a bare 100 meters away and the promenade is directly on the other side. A 10 minute train ride gets you to Genoa. Parking is secure. A large botanical park is next door. A large beautiful and neat dining room next to a comfortable and spacious foyer make for a very relaxing atmosphere. It is the best.
Review 36:Whilst there were plenty of places to eat within a short walk of the hotel, there was little flexibility for having an evening meal at the hotel - it had to be reserved, in advance.
Review 37:The staff were friendly and the room was spotless and well situated. Breakfast on the patio was a delight. The location was ideal with plenty of opportunity to explore the well kept promenade (and seaside walkway) which led to many opportunities to eat in local bars/restaurants.
Review 38:Restaurant choice in immediate area is a bit limited. Some might find the hotel dated. It is an Art Deco building.
Review 39:Charming hotel in garden setting. Friendly and helpful staff though limited English. Very close to train station (but not noisy) and sea. Balcony with view! Beautiful walkway along the coast. Old Nervi very charming. Left car at hotel and took the train on 3 separate days to Genoa, Portofino and Rapallo and the cinque terre.
Review 40:The bathroom was "basic efficiency" and there was norefrigerator in the room -- it would have been nice for cold drinks inthe evening.
Review 41:Hotel & location had lovely sea view from balcony and room was cleanand comfortable. Location is excellent -- steps from the the trainstation, providing quick access to Genoa and the rest of of the ItalianRiviera (Portofino a short train ride away).STAFF were very helpful and accommodating --recommended DaPina as the best place to dine for Seafood, provided a small in-room meal of the best Penne Pomodori I have ever had for my first night (I was tired and hungry); also tried to provide room on a higher floor for a better sea view, but I declined because it would have been for the 2nd and 3rd nights only and I did not want to move after being settled.
Review 42:No fridge in the room; The swimming pool is located not on the hotel premises but at Bagni Medusa complex short walk away from the hotel. The guests of the hotel don't use the swimming pool for free but get a discount for 1 person staying in the room. The hotel stuff failed to mention this to us, and we found out about this arrangement by accident after paying full price at Bagni Medusa.
Review 43:Nice and quite hotel. The rooms have new furnishings and are clean. The hotel is located a very short walk to the sea promenade. Free parking was a bonus. The train station is a 2-minute walk away.
Review 44:Nervi itself - it is just a suburb of Genoa, rather unkempt and lacking in places to eat; the hotel just has a basic set menu.
Review 45:Good location close to the sea, easy parking, lovely room (although no bath) with sea view.
Review 46:-location to the sea and the township -staff very helpful -breakfast just perfect -room was a little small but when on holidays you only sleep in the room -so much to enjoy going for walks and soaking up the sun and amazing coastline
Review 47:Staff were very helpful, beautiful location with easy access to beach, parks and costal walks. The proximity to Nervi station makes sightseeing easier as you do not need to drive.
Review 48:Staff helpful & friendly. Good location for visiting Genoa. Train station is 50 metres away & then a 10 min train ride. Restaurant excellent & breakfast good.
Review 49:The restaurant was not on top for breakfast. Cheap ingredient, very poor selection, not too friendly staff. The hotel would need a bit renewal. The rooms are really small.
Review 50:Practically 2 minutes from the seaside, almost all rooms have view to the sea. Despite of the close proximity to the railways, the noise does not come through (the railways close proximity is given in this part of Liguria). Clean, tidy rooms. The receptionist are extremely helpful, and gave good hints for good restaurants.
Review 51:The location was perfect for local train journeys. The room was clean and comfortable, we enjoyed the food and the staff were helpful.
Review 52:Breakfast on the terrace was a highlight
Review 53:staff was very helpful. the air con in our childrens room was leaking water and the staff changed their room promptly
Review 54:Right by the station but not disturbed by trains.
Review 55:Closeness to the seafront, and secure parking for the car
Review 56:The pool was not on the hotel premises.
Review 57:Quiet location close to railway station.
Review 58:Poor wifi connection but I survived, the trip isn't about that.
Review 59:Overall the staff were fantastic and accommodating.
Review 60:access to bagno Medusa
Review 61:very good breakfast
Review 62:took us an hour to find the hotel as street signs are hard to find in Italy
Review 63:great location near train station and sea walk
Review 64:Wifi could be better
Review 65:Friendliness towards us and our pet dog
Review 66:Staff are very friendly and helpful Great value for money!!
Review 67:rooms were small and the balcony could seat only one chair
Review 68:location to the beautiful walk along the ocean
Review 69:Free car parking, good room. Our room had balcony with the sea view.
Review 70:Limited parking facilities Slightly out dated decoration
Review 71:Comfortable Well positioned close to the seafront
Review 72:Everything was perfect
Review 73:Enclosed parking lot for guests, and a cabana key for guests' use
Review 74:Great location, very good breakfast, nice seaview
Review 75:Wi-Fi could be better.
Review 76:The location, friendliness of the staff.
Review 77:Parking was a hassle.
Review 78:Neat hotel. Short distance to boardwalk on sea and rail station.
Review 79:Generally an excellent 10 days.Everone very helpful..food fine..recommended to anyone except a young family who need a sandy beach, but good safe rocky pool very near with children's pool and lifeguard
Review 80:Location is great for those with a car and parking is easy. The room is basic and the trains are close and quite noisy but you get used to it. There was a lovely small balcony. Breakfast was fine.
Review 81:Train service into Genoa is not very frequent at times.
Review 82:Beautiful views of the sea while still close enough to the center of Genoa for exploring. Free parking. Easy walk to the museums of Nervi and the sea walk.
Review 83:Loved the location. Could easily walk to restaurants and the sea. The staff was friendly and helpful. Liked being close to train and metro. The scenery was breathtaking!
Review 84:- Breakfast has inproved, but could still be richer. - Barking of dogs in the rooms nearby.
Review 85:- Situation of the hotel near the station and the seaside. - Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 86:Parking can be difficult, needed to decide on dinner each morning. Mostly geared up for older residents
Review 87:Good location, staff mostly helpful and friendly.
Review 88:very friendly staff, single room had balcony with view of the sea, short walk to both the breathtaking passeggiata a mare and the parchi nervi with it's charming museums. parking on premises but also steps away from train station Genova nervi.
Review 89:The rooms are too small - also the triplerooms. There is only twotemperatures in the room. Very hot without the air con or very cold withthe air con. No possibility of regulating. There is no pool at the hotelwhich you think by the description on booking.com (the main reason whywe booked the hotel) - you have free access to a "private"pool where entrance normally costs 7 Euros/person. But then you haveto pay for sunbed and umbrella so no free pool. The breakfast ishorrible. Mainly elderly people stayed at the hotel when we visted. Alot of noise from the nightlife during weekend. No nice restaurantsnearby - mostly bars with antipasta.
Review 90:Nice park near the hotel. Nice friendly staff.
Review 91:Several rooms are smoking rooms...We had to ask to change one of the reserved rooms despite our request for non-smoking rooms. Had we not checked in early, we likely would have had to sleep in a smoking room! Lack of nearby good restaurants! FYI, reservations needed for the hotel restaurant.
Review 92:LOCATION!! On site free parking & complimentary breakfast! Our family of 5, including 3 teenagers enjoyed the the nearby promenade overlooking the Meditarrenan sea. Beautiful hotel gardens and outdoor eating terrasse. The staff was accommodating and friendly.
Review 93:I like everything, even I am very sensitive to noise and train station just opposite the hotel but I slept very well, just use ear plugs as I did :)
Review 94:Small charming hotel with absolutely amazing very friendly personal, free wi-fi in the room, fantastic location near the see and passeggiata, breakfast starting at 7:30 but it was possible to get it at 7:00 as I should be at 8:00 in downtown every morning - thank you so much for this! Warm delicious good smelling cakes and cappuccino - very nice personal, singing songs :) Grazie Mille! Ci vediamo! I will be happy to stay there again!
Review 95:Nothing really
Review 96:Well located near railway station and the coastal walk and parks
Review 97:friendly and helpful staff, good location. Design of the rooms and of the hotel in general is noteworthy for its refinement.
Review 98:Family-run hotel. Very simple, but cozy. Wonderful attitude towards guests. Sea and train station are not far.
Review 99:Train station bit too close, and directions to hotel could be improved
Review 100:The whole lot (room, view, location, feeling)
Review 101:The staff was extremely friendly and helping, for any question Ihad about were to go, I received a printed map with allexplanation I needed.
Review 102:No fridge
