Reviews for Palazzo San Lorenzo
Review 1:THE ROOMS ARE WELL APPOINTED AND OF GOOD SIZE, EVERYTHING IS CLEARLY VERY WELL MAINTAINED. STAFF WERE VERY HELPFUL AND THERE ARE SOME EXCELLENT LITTLE RESTAURANTS LESS THAN 100 YARDS AWAY.
Review 2:Everything was just perfect - from the location to the room and the service. Unfortunately we had no time to check the restaurant as the menu looked very promising.
Review 3:Hotel spa is not free to guests. Breakfast is OK by Italian standards but too heavily laden with sweet items. Guest parking is not secure or covered.
Review 4:Good location. Very comfortable room and large bathroom. Excellent wifi connection. Guest parking just down the road - though it is open and not secure.
Review 5:The bar and breakfast room could be more in alignment with the standard of the hotel. It gave an impression that it's not. The restaurants in this area in general close early. Very difficult to find some where to eat and that is open after 10/10:30pm.
Review 6:The room was of the highest standard, clean and comfortable. The receptionist was very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas of interest to tourists. The bathroom had an all-in-one Bath/shower/Jacuzzi which was fantastic. Free parking available which is 3 - 5min walk from the hotel.
Review 7:No iron or ironing board in the room. When we asked for these items we were told that none were available to be delivered to our room and the only way to iron our clothes was to visit a small room back of house next to reception where admin staff were working. Very strange. Car Park is a bit of a walk from the Hotel.
Review 8:Location for Tuscany was good with easy car access to most Tuscan highlights. The village of Colle Val d'Elsa is a little gem with limited tourist invasion. Restaurants inside the hotel and in the village were very good, staff very friendly. The new town is forgettable but the hilltop old town is a delight to roam around and explore.
Review 9:It would be nice if they had 1/2 & 1/2 or cream for the coffee.
Review 10:Staff very friendly & helpful. Hotel was much more than we expected for the price. Great value.
Review 11:Parking was a little walk but staff made luggage issues very easy. This is just a very tiny negative.
Review 12:Elegance and lovely location by the ancient city gate and terrific restaurants. Staff was terrific. Very accessible and with all modern conviences and smooth operations. A great find!!!!!
Review 13:The wifi in all the room. As a joke best signal was in the bathroom.Another problem is the short program at spa (pool). I used to come in the evening from trips and I would have liked swimming in the pool or to banish fatigue in sauna, but at 20 is closed.
Review 14:I liked everything, the settlement in the peaceful town of Colle di Val d'Elsa, friendly staff, clean room, possibility to make excursions in the whole of Tuscany.
Review 15:The Wellness Centre (Spa) was a daily charge of 20 EUROS plus the additional cost of treatment. Would expect basic use of facilities to be available within the cost of the accommodation. The accommodation is not ideal for kids as they are not allowed to use the swimming pool in the Wellness Centre. Whilst there is a swimming pool and play area in the village, our plan was to relax in the hotel after an intensive week of travel / wedding. There is little to do or see in the village, however there are some decent places to visit within 1 hour from this hotel. We visited the Rapaleno Terme which had great thermal baths.
Review 16:The hotel had a delightful entrance and staff were very welcoming and provided good guidance on things to do in the area. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The local restaurant (Porta Nova) was excellent with views that were a relatively unique experience. There is a play area and an outdoor Olympic sized swimming pool in the village which provided excellent entertainment for my kids.
Review 17:Nothing that I can think quickly
Review 18:The location is great for discovering tuscany by car: 50 km to Firenze, 20 to Siena, Short trips to great small towns like San Gimignano etc. The hotel is located in the old town of Colle di V' Elsa. Big room, friendly stuff, decent breakfast.
Review 19:We stayed only 3 nights:( I regret not taking it for all our holidays in Tuscany and just travel everywhere from there. It was worth it. No other hotel had the same quality for that price.
Review 20:This is a hotel for very demanding guests. It has everything: a wonderful localization (a perfect spot for sightseeing Siena, Chianti, Volterra),free parking, wifi, elevators etc. We got a superior room at the price of a standard one. Only because it was available:) Delicious breakfast for which I waited impatiently every morning. The variety of meals offered and homemade cakes kept everyone satisfied. I just loved it. The price of the room wasn't high for the comfort and standard we were offered.
Review 21:this is an excellent hotel and I would highly recommend it except that if you do not come by car, you are faced with a very long up-hill walk across rough cobblestones to get to the hotel. Don't let this turn you off, the village and the hotel are both well worth visiting.
Review 22:the hotel is an excellent one. Staff are very friendly and facilities are excellent. The down stairs bar offers and excellent meal including great valu\e in canapés.
Review 23:the hotel is missing the atmosphere; the bathroom looks very nice but is not very practical; children under 14yo can not enter the pool/spa; really nothing to do in the town
Review 24:nice room, rich breakfast bufet, parking in front of the hotel (if you are lucky)
Review 25:the location of the hotel in the old hilltop part of Colle di Val d' Elsa was convenient and quiet. It is also a beautiful place to stroll around without hordes of tourists(like us).
Review 26:Parking at 200 m Bar closed during our stay Spa not authorized for -14 Breakfast copy-paste every days Poor Wi-Fi
Review 27:Beautifull village Big rooms Bathroom is nice Cool restaurant in front of the hotel ! Parket in the rooms
Review 28:The breakfast could be more varied. E.g. cheeses, cold cuts etc.
Review 29:Friendly and helpful staff, excellent restaurant, nearby parking, clean and comfortable room.
Review 30:It was not a chraming hotel. Very good quality but a very cold design. No colors. The lady that met us in the reception was certainly not the warm and friendly type.
Review 31:Nice big quiet room with a very good bathroom.
Review 32:Going away!
Review 33:Excellent location to visit Volterra, San Gimignano, Monteriggioni e Siena. The building is beautiful, the staff is lovely and is in the most charming part of Colle di Val D'Elsa. The near public and free parking lot is a plus. The restaurant is also good.
Review 34:Great location. Very convenient to travel to any direction in Toscana area. Close to the hotel free parking. Few great restaurants in walking from the hotel distance (ask recommendations in hotel).
Review 35:The only thing that surprises me was there were no wine glasses/ corkscrew in the rooms given the region we were in! Apart from that nothing at all!
Review 36:Great location for visiting San Gimignano, Certaldo, Siena and the Chianti wine region. Best hotel we've stayed in during our Italian trip. It says 4 stars and means it! Large rooms and spacious bathrooms, great choice for breakfast. They do an aperitif drink plus nibbles each evening for 6 euros pp. We ate in the hotel and once in the restaurant down the road both were excellent.
Review 37:Swimming pool costs 20 euro per person, "terras" is only openfrom 17.00 and lies directly next to a busy street (never seen such alousy terras), the window in our room had no view (bricks), serviceduring breakfast was extremely slow and forgot our order several times. This is most likely the only hotel in Tuscany that has absolutely noview of the amazing landscape
Review 38:Room and bed were good
Review 39:- Pool access at extra cost and not available for children under 14 - Requires a separate WiFi code for any device. Apple devices tend to forget the WiFi code entered, so you end up walking back and forth to get codes at the reception
Review 40:- Nice modern rooms - Good base to visit Siena, San Giminiano and Florence
Review 41:The spa pool is extra :-(
Review 42:Excellent staff, easy parking nearby and delicious restaurants on the doorstep of the hotel. The panoramic views are amazing on the drive from San Gig to the hotel.
Review 43:Car parking is a 90 second walk away, on a hill. Not great in a rain storm.
Review 44:Spacious rooms Jacuzzi in bathrooms Large, comfortable beds Fridge in room for your own use Interior design Recent renovation - it feels new Helpful, friendly staff
Review 45:I spent the best day in the hotel's atmosphere, such as castle. Staff are also very friendly and the hostel was quiet. I want to go back.
Review 46:Location and comfort at a reasonable price
Review 47:Breakfast is rather simple for a 4 star hotel
Review 48:SPA is small but beautiful, Hotel, rooms are very clean and nice
Review 49:The spa closed early for us (20:00)
Review 50:Hotel Restaurant was amazing
Review 51:We expected better spaa
Review 52:Staff was very nice
Review 53:Nowhere to sit outside. Can only use the pool as part of the 'wellness' centre.
Review 54:Good location
Review 55:Signposting confusing Better directions needed for drivers
Review 56:Good aircon Spacious Room Elegant spaces Excellent dining
Review 57:bella location posto centrale
Review 58:The view from our room and over the tuscan landscape was unique - even compared to the many fine views that the hilly tuscan landscape offers.
Review 59:Location is great for visiting the Toscany
Review 60:NIce service and good location; easy to reach from highway

Review 77:Bed not that comfy; breakfast average at best
Review 78:Nice staff; nice room.
Review 79:There really wasn't anything to dislike at the hotel. nothing was too much trouble for the staff
Review 80:Nothing
Review 81:Everything! Location, place, service and food was outstanding!!!
Review 82:Staff, the location, the rooms, the facilities, the fittings, fixtures and general top quality of the place.
Review 83:THE SMELL- like a hospital or a nursery for old people
Review 84:Bed hard as a rock . No room service, front desk controls heat, the shower is in with tub and the tub is very high up. An older person would never be able to get in and out of tub. Only one American T.V. Station.Wi-fi was horrible ,kept going off and we would have try and sign back in but it was difficult. In the spa the robe was very small, only one size.extra charge to swim in pool and the pool didn't open till 2:00 pm.No coffee maker in room.hotel lobby just plain ugly.
Review 85:Lucia the front desk clerk was great. So was night front desk clerk Malik.Hotel and room very clean.towels very soft and large.breakfast buffet was ok.
Review 86:We loved everything about it. It was one of the highlights of our 3 weektrip through Italy and France
Review 87:It was a beautiful location and a wonderful hotel! The staff wasextremely helpful
Review 88:We booked a standard double room so maybe these things are available in another room type ...but some small things were missing for example bedroom slippers would be a nice extra and a tea/coffee making facility in the room would probably be appreciated by most people
Review 89:Staff were very polite and helpful both at reception ,in the bar and at breakfast. The hotel is in a great location and the rooms are beautifully designed, good size and with lovely bathroom and shower. The view from our bedroom was also really nice.I didnt use the spa but they seemed to have a lot of treatments on offer.Breakfast was great with a good mix of everything and good coffee. It was a really relaxing stay.I would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 90:Spa good but definitively not amazing. For instance: offer of plenty different type of massages but they seem all the same! I tried 3 different types: they seemed all the same.
Review 91:Great restaurant Breakfast: fresh home made cakes, scramble eggs etc.. Location amazing if you have a car. Close to many beautiful places like Siena, San Gimignano etc. Free wifi in room
Review 92:Only water (which was free of charge) was found in the frigo bar in the bedroom.
Review 93:Luxururious Accomodation in a palazzo. Restaurant and Spa right in the building. And the palazzo is situated in the old city centre. Parking was easy.
Review 94:Just had a tough time finding the hotel because the information fromBooking.com did not have the city written the same way as the gps or thelocal maps. We drove around for an hour before a stop at the policestation showed us why we could not find it.
Review 95:We loved the location and experience of being in an old walled city. Theresidents of the city going about their work or daily activities and thechildren walking to catch the bus every morning was captivating. Thehotel restaurant and the small local restaurants in the city wereexcellent. An excellent area from which to do day trips to other walledTuscan cities or local wineries.
Review 96:Everything was récently remodeled. Great and spacious rooms. Convenient location to visita San Gimignano and other nearby places. Personnel serving breakfast was very courteous.
Review 97:I paid a lot of money for my weeks stay. I don't mind paying for treatments I,e massage etc. Think the sauna, steam room, pool etc should be free. My in laws stay in the apartment and were not happy at all. I would and will be back as enjoyed stay. Just issue with spa facilities.
Review 98:Rooms were very nice and were always made up well. Staff were helpful and polite apart from 1. Spa staff again were excellent.and friendly. Nice relaxation in spa.
Review 99:The location is not that touristic (which is good), so the limited restaurants serve lunch & dinner in specific hours and a reservation is necessary.
Review 100:Elegant decorated room with jacuzzi. Professional staff. Nice breakfast with lot of choices. We also used the spa, the charge was only 20E and really worth it . There is space in front of the hotel to drop off your suitcases; however the paking is about 100m away from the hotel, but it is free of charge
Review 101:This fabulous hotel was beautiful and the rooms were wonderful! Thebathrooms were luxury! The Breakfast was stunning and in a beautifulroom! Plus Elena, at the front desk, was very knowledgeable and went theextra mile to help you plan your every detail of visiting the area!
Review 102:I felt the entry to the spa facilities was a bit expensive for hotel guests so we didn't bother.
Review 103:Staff were friendly, we got upgraded to a suite on arrival which was a lovely touch. Room was fantastic and breakfast was fine.
Review 104:No parking at hotel itself but nearby is free. One-way street, the wrong way, coming in.
Review 105:In the old town and can walk everywhere. Close to a great restaurant (Anolfo).
Review 106:My only complaint is the pigeons out on our balcony every morning.
Review 107:Everything. The hotel was clean and beautifully located on the side of a hill. The interior of the foyer is amazing. The restaurant was small but very tastey.
Review 108:Parking is a public parking lot outside the street . The city is very small with limited things to do at night. too pricy in my opinion for the superior room
Review 109:Rooms are very good . Breakfast is rich
Review 110:The hotel has no view to its parking and you cannot be sure for your car because the parking is open.It was a bit cold because the central heating was closed because it was late May,bad the weather was cold and they gave us another blanket.
Review 111:Nice room for breakfast, rich breakfast.Convenient bathroom. The village is not so famous but is very beautiful, without many tourists, and quiet.
Review 112:Poor breakfast for the price and image. I also disliked that the staff was not cleaning used tables as soon as guests left them. Dining among dirty tables doesn't fit well with a 4 star hotel.
Review 113:You spend your night in history, it is very memorable. Easy parking. Great views. Kind staff.
Review 114:The restaurant was not worth the money at all! The dinner was of verypoor quality, but expensive + coperto.... Don't go to therestaurant! The spa is small but costs extra 20€ per use.
Review 115:The hotel itself, the room, the location of the hotel, the village, thebreakfast was very good!
Review 116:Chance of improving the breakfast ?
Review 117:You can't ask any more, excellent in every way !!!!!!!
Review 118:Great staff , very clean and peaceful excellent breakfast
Review 119:Good location Fantastic staff
Review 120:They should provide some historical info on the palace The town is not that attractive
Review 121:Quiet place
Review 122:Lack of bar at night, No garden or terrace. Parking to be found.
Review 123:Bed size.
Review 124:Everything
