Reviews for Relais Della Rovere
Review 1:Can't think of anything
Review 2:Lovely big room and bathroom. The fact that the cardinal who tried to depose the Borgia Pope once owned it. The breakfast. The piano music at breakfast. The waiter remembered our coffee choice every morning
Review 3:Driving into town in evenings aborted owing to difficulty parking.
Review 4:Original ancient features both interior and external, unique. Superb swimming pool in beautiful gardens.
Review 5:Well situated near the beautiful town of Colle Val D' Elsa. The restaurant is magnificent. A great place to celebrate a birthday. We stayed 20 years ago and loved it. Now even better.
Review 6:This is a beautiful ex monastery hotel in a rural area with a rustic feel. The staff were very helpful and it was very peaceful. The food in the restaurant was excellent.
Review 7:After spending 2 weeks in Tuscany and Umbria at the most fabulous locations we looked forward to spend time at the Relais. However the experience was rather disappointing. The location was mediocre at best. I was used to great views over the typical wineries of the region. Instead Relais is located near a busy road with only bushes between us (at the pool) and the cars. Also the site is very smal, you can't take a walk. Maybe I should have payed more attention when I made the booking. But honestly when I look at the pictures again I think that they suggest a much larger site. I can agree with a former reviewer that especially the bathroom was very moisty. We grew our own porcini in the shower! Definitely in need of an upgrade. Summing up: we've been in much better places for far less money.
Review 8:Proximity to places of interest.
Review 9:at the time to see the pictures on internet look likes you are in the middle of the mountain, however you are in the middle of the city next to the route
Review 10:the common areas of the hotel, the swiming pool, the restaurant, the green yards and the services
Review 11:I liked the whole experience, the way that a former convent was converted into a fully 4 start hotel with all amenties, a lush garden with a pool, a great awarded restaurant (Il Cardinale) , an excellent, tasty, fresh, yummy breakfast. It was indeed a unique experience to be there even for one night and we plan to return to stay longer. Staff was really friendly and helpful.
Review 12:The broken pavement and distance from the parking lot to the property can be difficult on luggage wheels!
Review 13:This property was just what we wanted - nice location, quiet, unique. The staff was very nice. The breakfast was awesome - a very large variety!
Review 14:None really
Review 15:The place is very well located to visit all the nice places in Tuscany by car. The staff were superb and accommodated all our requests. The property is very beautifully renovated and situated on extensive grounds.
Review 16:Nothing
Review 17:Excellent service. Bar service included freshly made appetisers that were complementary . Large rooms, great location for anywhere in Tuscany. Breakfast has eggs and a toaster!
Review 18:We stayed at RelaisDelaRovere six years ago and were so impressed decided at the last minute to stay there again. It was not in the same condition as 6 years ago, they have sold their other 2 properties and buildings and grounds could use some T L C. With that being said I would definitely stay here again. The quiet, ambiance and atmosphere are worth it.
Review 19:Awful first room unclean, horrendous bathroom my fiance couldn't even fit into the shower. Not quite sure why everyone is saying how wonderful the breakfast is i would say its less than average at best. Especially irritating when your asked to pay 5 Euros for fresh orange not the cheap and nasty squash. Really wished i hadn't read any of the reviews majorly disappointed!
Review 20:The only thing that redeemed the hotel was the lovely lady who worked in the bar in the evening she made a mean campari and orange with a variety of bar snacks to accompany.
Review 21:Bar was a bit of a walk through rather than a distinct area and closed very early.
Review 22:Lovely rooms in keeping with age of building. Good restaurant and close to town.
Review 23:service is more 3.5*. Very limited food options other that a fantastic restaurant for dinner which is under different ownership from the hotel and doesn't open until 8pm which makes feeding young children a challenge.
Review 24:Friendly, relaxed and lovely setting
Review 25:they seem to be overcommitted but undermanned. so all in all, there was nothing really bad except the car parks acacia tree squirting its nectar all over our car making it sticky as glue... however, at the end we did not quite get why the hotel should be amongst the italy top 100...
Review 26:nice old building with generous rooms, nice restaurant downstairs
Review 27:It was difficult to find the hotel because there was no visible signs where the hotel was, it was hidden by some trees.
Review 28:Wonderful hotel, very good location and very clean. We find the staff very kind. The hotel itself was brilliant, old house with little bit ancient atmosphere and different from any other hotel we have stayed in, with thick walls and wooden window shutter. We had the feeling that we have jump into another century. The breakfast was wonderful.
Review 29:TV is a little small, but otherwise very good hotel with nice staff but not all of them speak English. But these are all just minor remarques.
Review 30:Location was very good, quiet and remote but still close to Siena(20min by car) and Florence(40min by car). Restaurant, named Il Cardinale, in the hotel is very good. Nice room, we had the larger room in the villa. Staff is very helpful and friendly.
Review 31:Friendly staff.good food.tuscany is always wonderful.
Review 32:a very nice hotel built on ancient building
Review 33:Very bad the room and the furniture not 4 stars maximum 3!
Review 34:Location and swimingpool
Review 35:Amazing room (with a 2 pax Jacuzzi), staff, building style, swimmingpool
Review 36:Spacious and airy. Artfully renovated Abbey. Fantastic garden pool area. Great courtyard restaurant.
Review 37:the place itself and the staff
Review 38:Woodfloor in the bathroom.....
Review 39:Garden, very friendly staff, wood floor in the bedroom
Review 40:The friendly staff and the excellent breakfast.
Review 41:Room (former barn) had minimal natural light Service very 'offhand' - not welcoming Restaurant was ok but overpriced
Review 42:Main building Gardens
Review 43:Rooms smelled à bit damp
Review 44:Nice old building Big room Accessible
Review 45:The street number was 10 which didn't show up on the gps, therefore a little difficult to find
Review 46:Everything
Review 47:Rooms are a bit monastic but clean. This could be a five star deluxe property with a little more refinement.
Review 48:This is a charming hotel stepped with the deep history of the church and Tuscany. The owner of the property takes great pleasure in sharing the deep history and the staff are equally passionate about the property. The property is charming.
Review 49:Very comfortable hotel nearby a nice little town. The old monastery has been beautifully remodeled with respect for the original character. Friendly and courteous staff, allways helpful. Nice breakfast.Surroundings invite to go on a walk.We enjoyed it very much to be at Della Rovere and regretted to have to leave.
Review 50:This hotel was so beautiful. The building was gorgeous and the grounds were even more so. The breakfast was to die for. The best hotel we stayed in on our trip to Italy.
Review 51:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The open swimming pool was a great relaxation after a long touring day. The hotel restaurant is very romantic. Late in the evening, attracted by local music we crossed the street from the estate to discover many local social activities (dancing club, bocha game, etc...)
Review 52:There was nothing I didn't like about this hotel.
Review 53:My husband and I stayed in the farmhouse. The bed was very comfortable. No shower, but a great bathtub. Loved the view from the window, the sound of doves cooing, very relaxing. The location was right outside the town of Val d Else, which I enjoyed more than my planned visit to San Gimingnano. Would love to come back in the summer and sit by the pool! Nice breakfast. The menu for dinner looked very Tuscan/Italian, but we ended up eating a pizza at great place right across the street. Nice to have several options around.
Review 54:Elegant and luxurious accommodation, yet still preserving the atmosphere of its former life as a 12th century convent. Great staff. Highly recommended.
Review 55:I didnt like the the room where we stayed. The room was small and had one little window only.
Review 56:The service is excellent, the swimming pool is awsome and it is all really relaxing there. If you need a weekend break you definetely should go there!
Review 57:The interior of the rooms was standard and maybe even old no luxury was available in the rooms
Review 58:The restaurant offers great Tuscan food food in a impressive historical surrounding. The pool area is beautiful and the natural materials allows you to relax completely. The hotel building is stunning and its history is impressive. It offers a very private atmosphere with nice staff that is helpful and supportive in every way.
Review 59:We got a deal on the price because we were looking for one night andthey had one night open and were letting it go for 1/2 price. It is amonestery, so everything is big: halls, dining room, library. And it'sall built of stone. Breakfast was excellent: juices, coffee, rolls, meats, cheeses, cakes. There were many other guests, but we heard no oneand did not know how many were there until we came down for breakfastThe room was very nice, and the staff was very helpful about where to goand what to see in the area.
Review 60:Staff and excellent restaurant. Good parking ; easy to find
