Reviews for The Harbour Inn

Review 1:Room (on 2nd floor) was cold despite heating being on. Windows seemed poor quality as there were drafts and there was a lot of road noise. Room was quite small - due to dormer Windows.

Review 2:Good breakfast selection. Helpful/friendly staff.

Review 3:The kitchen extractor fans did not prevent food smell from spoiling our clothes

Review 4:Great value warm, clean accommodation. Very tasty and excellent value bar food

Review 5:Nothing

Review 6:Loved everything about the Harbour Inn,the staff were excellent, food amazing and lovely comfortable room, many thanks to Helen and Martin for looking after us

Review 7:Great base to explore the Inshowen peninsual with a very comfortable hotel with a great bar/restaurant attached serving great food and entertainment with the added bonus of a good breakfast to set you up for the day

Review 8:Just that the bar area was small and the smell of the cooking was a bit overwhelming.

Review 9:The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was lovely and a nice selection to choose from.

Review 10:The beds were a bit soft & thy duvets were heavy and the pillows hard. Plus I have artrites & having a shower in a bath is very difficult for me to manage to get my leg over the bath. It was a lovely large bathroom it's a pity someone couldn't have managed to fit a self standing shower. Into the space.

Review 11:The staffs friendless & helpfulness. Everything was clean. The TV had all the channels we needed. There was a room to put your cases away. The bathroom was large & had a bath for bath lovers. Food was good. The staff obliged us with every require we made, nothing was to difficult. We would return.

Review 12:We didn't have a bad experience, but our heating was turned off in the morning and it was FREEZING!!! That's the only thing that bothered me.

Review 13:Hotel was clean, tidy; staff were friendly, especially the bar staff. Great music at night time and the beds were incredibly comfortable. We visited for my nan's 90th birthday, she is unable to climb stairs etc, and the staff were more than happy to give us a disabled access room for her.

Review 14:None at all.

Review 15:A big thank you to all the staff for making our weekend a pleasure . Room , spotless . Food in the restaurant could rival any Michelin star chef , first class and not too expensive . Breakfast , lots to choose from and deeelish. The bar staff so friendly and didn't wait to be served even when they where busy. Thank you Harbour Inn .

Review 16:Not a thing to compalin about!

Review 17:The reception we got from Helen was great and she even insisted in carrying our case up to the 1st floor! All the staff were so efficient and the bar staff great at sorting out our wine. The food was superb with realy delicious Co Donegal steaks. Cosy log fire in the restaurant. We will definately be back.

Review 18:Cold freezing rain and wind crossing car park.

Review 19:More a collection of related buildings than a hotel. Accomadation is in a separate block across the car park and backing onto a service station. Restaurant is part of pub across another block. I arrived UN the rain and had to wrap up every time I had to move across this inn. Wouldn't recommend for solo women overnights.

Review 20:Spotlessly clean and comfortable rooms, staff are first class, we came over half an hour late for breakfast ( hungover ) and the chef had already left so 1 of the lady staff told us to take a seat and she would do us some tea and toast and cereals, now not a lot of hotels will do this and i just want to thank that lady from the 3 of us. Loved the place and hotel and we are going back to this hotel on a weekend break very soon, well done the harbour inn great !

Review 21:It was a wonderful family atmosphere, clean rooms, fabulous breakfast. Close to many different sights to include Inisowen. Great pub attached to the Hotel. I will be back!!Staff also Kindly and big hospitalty.

Review 22:All staff very approachable, helpful, and attentive in all circumstances. Accommodation well furnished and very comfortable, beds in particular. Restaurant excellent at all times. I felt quite at home.

Review 23:The weather but not the fault of the hotel

Review 24:Nice quiet area spacious room very clean and tidy room good food in the restaurant good facilities and terrific staff. Also good private parking area.

Review 25:I loved the friendly staff and got to speak with owners customer service in the accommodation was fab we ate in restaurant on our first night, very busy I agree, staff very helpful what I did not like was being rushed as soon as we had finished our meal being told are we paying by card etc I told the member of staff that I wouldn't be rushed and that I will be finishing my drink.

Review 26:I loved the fact that the beach was just across the road and we enjoyed our walks with our littleman every morning and evening during our stay.

Review 27:None!

Review 28:Lovely staff, very clean room and very quiet. The way the hotel is laid out makes you feel like your room is a separate apartment.....lovely privacy. The food served in the evening time is top notch too!!

Review 29:The only thing I was a bit annoyed about and its not really a criticism, we had a beautiful meal in the restaurant, we were seated by the bar, customers just in for drinks were having conversations over our heads and leaning on the back of our chairs. I found this off putting as it made us difficult for us as a couple to have a conversation, that apart it was a great night though maybe perhaps different music instead of the Karaoke type group. Last time we were there the group were fantastic.

Review 30:Staff, food and location second to none

Review 31:Ticked all my boxes. I want clean pillows, spotless bedding and bathroom, comfortable beds, TV, coffee, breakfast included. Quiet location. Good restaurant attached.

Review 32:Nothing. I'll definitely be back.

Review 33:There is nothing i can fault with staying here, the staff were really friendly, the room was fantastic, it was spotless clean and the bar serves beautiful grub oh and the beach across the road was lovely.

Review 34:I would prefer the bar to be seperate to the dinning area. On the night I stayed there the bar was very quiet so I decided to go into town for a drink, this meant a taxi journey both ways but staff ordered taxi for me so that was fine, I would certainly stay there again.

Review 35:Staff were friendly and very helpfull, room was spacious and spotless, could not find any fault with either, breakfast was excellent too, I got exactly what I orderd and it was served quickly and in a friendly manner. food in bar was also very good and great value.

Review 36:You need a car to get around but that was a minor thing.

Review 37:Great place, food was good and atmosphere was great. We're definitely going to go back again.

Review 38:Didn't like the idea of having the bar and restaurant across the car park/yard.. Restaurant in bar was very noisy when eating..

Review 39:The view was great and rooms very clean.

Review 40:Having to leave at the end of my stay.

Review 41:Room was large, spotless and above all lovely and warm. Slept like a log on the comfy bed. Really really liked the place, will definitely being going back again but this time with the family for a night and a meal in their excellent restaurant.

Review 42:nothing to dislike couldnt fault it

Review 43:spent a fantastic 2 days there staff friendly food excellent everything cooked from fresh beautiful beach just accross the road rooms warm and beds comfortable rooms cleaned everyday will be back soon

Review 44:Nothong

Review 45:Location fantastic bar restaurant great food brilliant and surroundings beautiful and all in one complex no having to ring taxis to get food and drink

Review 46:The Harbour Inn was perfectly placed for us to enjoy a very Nostalgic trip around Donegal... Our room was Bright, Clean, large and very comfortable... The Breakfast, service and Staff were brilliant... We also eat at The Harbour Inn each evening, the food was good, plenty of choice and very good value for money...

Review 47:Its friendly, great to eat in, the rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious, and with the bar only a few seconds from any of the rooms you can sit down unwind and enjoy the music without having any worries love the place will be back as a regular

Review 48:Noise from main road and 24 hour garage Sea View was not as I thought it would have been. The main reception and bar and restaurant being separated from rooms, meaning walking across car park

Review 49:Staff very friendly, rooms very clean, food in restaurant delicious and reasonably priced. Flat screen TV in room Free car park Will definitely be back and would recommend to friends and family.

Review 50:Leaving!

Review 51:Lovely welcome at Reception from Helen, who could not have been more helpful! My daughter and I spent a very cosy and comfortable night at the Harbour Inn. Great base for touring the area, and excellent value for money! ;)

Review 52:Got a phone call around 22.00 looking for payment for a meal I had already paid for. I had a receipt. They tried to be nice about it but it was not a nice experience. They should have checked the CCTV

Review 53:Excellent, professional and friendly staff overall

Review 54:Was in for breakfast at 9.40. Staff member said they were very busy. I felt this was inappropriate as I was in no hurry though service was good.

Review 55:Comfort and friendly.

Review 56:The breakfast both days was very bland. Mushrroms were very watery and had no tasts. The bacon was so so hard and tough. I ask for only white pudding and they gave me black.

Review 57:Really comfy bed, nice room and really nice staff

Review 58:I had a lot of difficulty getting to sleep as the bed was very hard. The pillows were particularly hard and I considered sleeping without them as they were so uncomfortable.

Review 59:I found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly,

Review 60:Nothing bad to say

Review 61:Loved the room very big and airy Will defenitly let family and friends know about my stay . The best was the car park it was just outside your door didn't have far to carry our suitcases

Review 62:Nothing at all

Review 63:Stayed here one night and very pleased with it. Receptionist was lovely when we got there. Room was clean and spacious . And breakfast next morning was lovely :)

Review 64:This is my second time at Harbour inn and i love it here. Its a perfect base for exploring all Donegal has to offer. Rooms are lovely and spacious. Food in bar is very nice. I will definitely be back!

Review 65:No wifi. Bed uncomfortable. No aircon. And FAR too warm.

Review 66:Had a nice meal and breakfast was tasty. Good value for money. Staff were friendly. Plenty of parking

Review 67:Wifi access didn't extend across the whole building so we had none in our room and bed was very springy

Review 68:Room was nice, very clean and bright and nicely decorated. Staff Uber friendly.

Review 69:The downside to this hotel is that the rooms are remote from restaurant and reception. there may be a couple of rooms in the main building. If its wet you will need an umbrella to get to your meals!

Review 70:GReat huge room and large bathroom. Large walk in wardrobe and ironing facilities. Hotel looks quite new. Food in retaurant was very good.

Review 71:Polite and efficient staff at Hotel and in the adjoining Restaurant/Bar.Food was excellent and good value and variety.Superb location to explore Donegal.

Review 72:Staff amazing especially the owners, my 3 year old had as amazing time. Food was gorgeous, location excellent one of the best places I have stayed! 5*

Review 73:Thought bed was too small prefer king or superking bed

Review 74:Got a self contained room own front door and parking space outside door you did not know you were in a hotel as you didnt hear doors slamming or people making noise passing your door in hot corridors no noise problem with music etc you get from the bar etc

Review 75:I stay in the habour inn about 6 times a year sometimes more, just love it .The staff are great food first class could not ask for abetter place to stay.

Review 76:Family room was above the bar and unfortunately was very noisy as a result. There was a live band on the Sat night which kept us up until after 1am. Not a suitable position for a family room I don't think. Internet intermittant.

Review 77:Room was a good size, food in the bar terrific. Very helpful and friendly staff. Great breakfast.

Review 78:Roadside location is some way outside the local town. Functional styling and bland motel style. It wasn't particularly attractive and lacked any character. We had to walk outside in the rain to reach the breakfast room. In comparison to the other hotels on our Irish touring holiday, we throught it was over priced.

Review 79:Reasonably pleasant, good sized room. Clean.

Review 80:Misinformation on booking.com website re proximity of hotel to our destination in Rathmullan. It was quoted as being 6.2 km from Rathmullan but was the other side of Lough Swilly. A 50min drive. This needs to be rectified. The staff report that this is a frequent complaint. Do something about it please!!!

Review 81:The staff were excellent. Clean rooms.

Review 82:The two small things that I didn't like were the Miwadi orange for breakfast instead of orange juice and also you could hear road noise from my room in the mornings.

Review 83:I stayed here as part of a trip to donegal to see the lovely inishowen peninsula. the property is very good as the rooms are a good size, staff helpful and breakfast freshly cooked each day. The food in the restaurant in the evening was very tasty and well priced (€13.50 for 2 courses).

Review 84:No bad experience .... I recommend that the sign on the roadside be lit up,,, it would certainly make it easier to find in the dark,,,,

Review 85:Everything !! I think the staff make the place though,,,,each and everyone,,,, but special mention for the night porter who was most welcoming and pleasant at midnight when I arrived,,,, I hope to return,,,,,its an ideal location,,,,near to beaches and a short run into Derry,,,

Review 86:All staff, food , lovely large super clean room with a view as requested, food in Bar and the entertainment on the night, two friendly ladies, lovely singers named Heels . Wi Fi was excellent.

Review 87:Didn't like the restaurant, have eaten here before and should have known better, but we were tired and didn't want to go into town. Ordered the rump steak and ribs combo, steak was small but okay, the ribs ... just bone, very little meat with too much bbq sauce, and the chips .. tasted stale .. would definitely not recommend.

Review 88:Room was outstanding, very comfortable and loved that there was a safe in the room, meant we didn't have to carry our money around with us.

Review 89:As always liked everything about the harbour inn it's so peaceful the staff are so friendly, the food is excellent. We will always come back.

Review 90:Leaving....

Review 91:A lovely Hotel in a lovely area with the most friendly staff we have ever met they really couldn't do enough to help us. The food was also top class. We will definately be back

Review 92:really nice accommodation and location. restaurant tends to be crowded at weekends so best to book a table, however that reflects well on its popularity. staff helpful and friendly.

Review 93:We always have a lovely time when we stay. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. We like the fact that we can have a meal and experience a lovely atmosphere in the bar, hopefuly, with entertainment available. Just fab!

Review 94:The bed was too comfortable. .. and we didn't want to get out it.

Review 95:The staff were extremely accommodating. The harbour view room was huge with extremely comfortable beds. Thw views and food were just excellent.

Review 96:Nothing to dislike (bed could be a little firmer)

Review 97:Every thing - very large room, helpful staff, great on site restaurant and appetizing breakfast best ever and good value

Review 98:We loved our stay at the Harbour Inn. It offers comfort and everything you need for a night by the beach. Clean, cosy, nice breakfast, budget accommodation.

Review 99:The wifi didn't work in the bar but not really a massive deal

Review 100:Liked how the rooms were right beside the car park so there was no walking up long hotel corridors or elevators. Has everything you need so can't complain. Would stay again

Review 101:The hotel was lovely n staff very friendly. Loved the open fire in the bar/restaurant and the food was great value for money. Would definitely return:

Review 102:NOTHING ALL POSITIVE FROM US

Review 103:Location was beautiful atmosphere was brilliant in the bar and lounge entertainment fantastic rooms had everything you needed and more food was first class can't wait to go back

Review 104:Nothing not to like

Review 105:Spacious family room Very good value Very quiet at night Good food in bar/restaurant, big portions, good value and varied menu Nice atmosphere in bar and lots of screens showing soccer/gaa Nice breakfast Friendly staff

Review 106:Wi-fi a bit erratic depending where you were if this service was improved it would be an excellent score

Review 107:Friendly staff. Good motel- type rooms clean and comfortable. Lovely location , even in the bad weather. Lovely food

Review 108:Group of 3-4 people in the room next door were making a lot of drunken noise at 3am. If there was a 24h reception, I would probably ask them to intervene. Hotel is right next to main road so some people may dislike the traffic noise. Windows are working well to suppress it though.

Review 109:Cleanliness, comfort, size of bedroom and bathroom, breakfast, friendly staff. Very warm room!

Review 110:Car park hadn't much room for hotel spaces

Review 111:This hotel is excellent value for money. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, warm and spacious. The restaurant was lovely and good gorgeous. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Review 114:The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly which was great after the long journey. The room was really clean and comfortable and the wifi worked well. Enjoyed the stay, would definitely go back!

Review 115:Lovely hotel the friendliest staff I have ever come across, you wouldn't want for anything in this hotel.I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Review 116:Everything - the room was so comfortable, well appointed, very clean. Hotel services were very efficient, friendly. Nothing to complain about at all. First class.

Review 117:The menu was limited for me as I am a vegan. I had to downgrade to vegetarian. But the chef did do me some acceptable meals when I asked.

Review 118:There was nothing I didn't like. Meal portions were large they didn't skimp on meals at all. Breakfast was excellent. The rooms were comfortable and staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 119:Very helpful and friendly staff. Spotless clean rooms and restaurant great value for money, good breakfast, and a great pint of Guinness in the bar what more could you want.

Review 120:Rather uninteresting meals at the attached pub, but staff very friendly.

Review 121:Manager very helpful about taking touring bike into the room, for security. Very supportive - the bike was not a nuisance to the Harbour Inn. Convenient for buying snacks (garage next door). Lovely big room and everything worked.

Review 122:Nothing to not like

Review 123:Absolutely everything. Staff friendly & helpful. Food excellent. We dined in the restaurant both nights of our stay. Great value. Our 1st time to stay but will definitely return. Thank you all for a great weekend

Review 124:For those people who say its a bit out of town,,, check the location on map,,,, thats what the map is there for !!! so that you will know ...

Review 125:From my very first interaction I know this was going to be special..I rang to say I would be arriving very late..the receptionist took me through what I needed to know about checking in, the times and location for breakfast and wished me a save journey. when I arrived about midnight the night porter helped me with my bags and again told me all I needed to know for my stay..Every aspect of this fine establishment was perfect, freshly cooked breakfast, great bar food,, a spacious room and excellent staff,,, hope to return,,, its even convenient for Derry city,,,,Well done Harbour Inn.

Review 126:The Bar/Restaurant was very busy but it was a Saturday evening and there was a private party going on. Waited longer than what I consider reasonable for a seat and then some more for our order to be taken.

Review 127:A very comfortable and clean hotel. Very helpful staff and a very good breakfast.

Review 128:Staff were very helpful in accommodating some requests we had before we arrived. We enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant, and breakkfast the next morning. Very impressed with how clean our rooms were. Very spacious and comfortable.
