Reviews for Hotel Varonos

Review 1:The hotel was obviously very old and in need of some renovation. The rooms could use some better cleaning; we found a dead spider in our closet. We had to ask the staff to turn on the hot water so we could shower. The breakfast was mediocre at best.

Review 2:The hotel is within walking distance of the ruins in Delphi- then again, so is every hotel in Delphi.

Review 3:Very welcoming, family run business in a perfect location for taking in the community of Delphi. You can easily walk from the hotel to the archaeological sites, the museum and explore the entire town. Rooms were nicely appointed and the view of the valley, down to the sea exceptional.

Review 4:Breakfast was a bit poor and you have to pay extra for a mountain view room.

Review 5:Nice family driven hotel with great location in the centre of Delphi with walking distance to the museum.

Review 6:Everyone was friendly and helpful. Hotel is surrounded by restaurants and is an easy walk to the bus and the archaeological site. Breakfast was very nice. My room was clean and had a great view of the valley and the sea. Enjoyed all the decorations in the lobby.

Review 7:Nothing!

Review 8:Great place in Delphi. Rooms are little but very cozy. Comfortable and quiet (we were on the second floor see side), very nice staff and good breakfast! 10 minutes walk to the ruins, we had a very nice stay.

Review 9:the room with THE VIEW from the bed looking out over towards the sea of corinth has to be the best, of course from the balcony it was superb. I spent 3 days and nights and spent almost all of it staring out on that spectacular vista. Ever such a big bed too.

Review 10:car parking in Delphi is a problem not only to varanos hotel. the balcony was very small

Review 11:it is a small hotel managed by all members of the family which includes a small shop with regional products

Review 12:No complaints at all.

Review 13:We only stayed for 2 nights, but found it very friendly, excellent value, and just what we needed for visiting this site of awesome natural beauty and historical significance

Review 14:Nothing

Review 15:Out of all the places we stayed in Greece and all of them were good and friendly, this was the best by far for warmth, and caring directed towards their guests. Father and son team that so just a magnificent job of looking after you.

Review 16:no elevator, low ceilings in the upper floor

Review 17:Amazing view of mountains and sea, courtesy of the owners, position, great suggestions for the restaurants

Review 18:Not a bad thing, but place may need a revamp, starting to show its age, but still very nice.

Review 19:Yianni was a great host. Hotel Varonos is in a great location, walking distance to the ancient sites and right in the middle of what is a beautiful town. Restaurants, shops and views all within steps.

Review 20:The showers are really small.

Review 21:The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is within walking distance of the Delphi archeological site and many restaurants. The views from the room was incredible.

Review 22:The hotel is very small and so are the rooms.

Review 23:The view from this hotel over the valley is amazing, it's also walking distance to the ruins of Delphi. The staff and owners are very friendly and helpful and they upgraded us to a room with a view for free. Because it's build on a cliff it looks like some rooms are in the basement.

Review 24:-Bathroom is a joke! Looked as if it was done by an amateur.

Review 25:-Location near ancient site -Could park the car in front of the hotel -Good value of money

Review 26:The shower was impossibly small! Plenty of hot water, but I dropped the soap and then banged my elbow and hip trying to pick it up.

Review 27:The staff were super friendly, and we felt welcomed even before we made it in the door (they helped with our bags). In the morning we were all ill (food poisoning from an unrelated restaurant) and they very kindly checked we didn't want breakfast before packing it away at the end of the service. They were also able to arrange a private taxi transfer for us ahead of our arrival. The balcony had a great view over the valley.

Review 28:All of the lampshades were red so it was a bit like living in the red light district, also could've been cleaner.

Review 29:Hotel Varonos is in the perfect location with a nice staff, breakfast, and great wifi!

Review 30:For the price paid and the location of the hotel for walking to Delphi there was nothing to dislike.

Review 31:The view from the balcony across the river valley to Itea on the gulf of Corinth was breathtakingly.

Review 32:The location was amazing: right on the cliffs with a spectacular view! The staff were very helpful in answering our tourist questions about where things were located.

Review 33:The only thing is that, if you need an elevator, you are out of luck.

Review 34:We loved Hotel Varonos and the family that runs it! Everyone was so friendly, they made our stay extra special. The view from our room overlooking the valley and Itea was breathtakingly beautiful, and we could sit out on the balcony in the evening and early morning. When we left, everyone in the family came out to see us off, and give us help in knowing where to stop and how to travel on our way to Patra . Five stars in my opinion. Super, top notch.

Review 35:No lift but it wasn't a problem for us.

Review 36:Location was wonderful for bus, sightseeing, restaurants and supplies. We had an attic room with a small balcony and a breathtaking view over the valley to the sea. Friendly, helpful host, and comfortable stay.

Review 37:The TV turned on at 4 AM on its own, I think the battery was dying in the remote. I just unplugged the TV and went back to sleep. No real problem at all.

Review 38:The location and the view certainly stand out, but my experience was even better because of the flexibility of the staff. My traveling companion snores (loudly!), and I was able to get another room so I could sleep. The staff were friendly and accommodating -- making my stay that much better.

Review 39:The facilities look a bit old but it was definitively compensated by the service.

Review 40:We paid 50 euros for a room with double bed with a nice view on the sea and valley from our balcony. It was very clean and we had wifi, but the best was the breakfast as it was a full buffet that they open earlier for us as we had an early bus to Athens.

Review 41:nothing neg. picked a beauty here!

Review 42:amazing views of the mountains all the way out to the sea! very friendly people own the hotel breakfast was great and plenty of options rooms were exactly what you'd need. comfortable and homely. price was more than reasonable. plenty of parking on the main street

Review 43:We had troubles with hot water, but they fix it. Noise of others rooms affect our sleep. The hotel is old, but... it´s in Delphos

Review 44:Localization very good! Breakfast good!

Review 45:iwhen we read and payed for a meteora view we imagined a frontline view to the cliffs and monasteries. The view is to the road and frontline houses and some cliffs ( not those that are lighted at night) behind them. Maybe it's us but we expected more.

Review 46:friendly, nice reception , good breakfast, ok rooms

Review 47:The shower cubicle was really small. Otherwise the room is functional. The heater kept the room warm and had a toasty night with extra blanket.

Review 48:The hotel is just a short walk of about 100m from the bus stop. Cosy living room with a fireplace. Breakfast was a good spread. The juices were not fresh juices so rather sweet. Thick Greek yoghurt, good slices of cheese and an assortment of tea.

Review 49:At times the heating was too uncorfotable, something you can fix by turning off the rediator and/or opening the window.

Review 50:Friendly stuff, always looking to help. Good location. The room was clean and the bed confortable.

Review 51:room a bit cold - heater ( conversion from the AC) not fully functioning.

Review 52:We upgraded from the street view room to the sea view (partly) , the guy at reception was very friendly and helpful.

Review 53:-Unconfortable bed -Very thin walls -Difficulty in parking

Review 54:-Good Price -Great variety in breakfast -Good location -Helpful staff -Relatively clean

Review 55:The hotel is a real straight forward old fashioned family run small hotel. It's not the Ritz Carlton. It is simple, clean and the price is right and the owner and the staff seem to care.

Review 56:Sheets not wide enough for double bed.

Review 57:Staff friendly, very helpful. Good breakfast. Great view over the mountains and to the sea with balcony. Good situation in the heart of the town.

Review 58:Nothing important.

Review 59:Only drawback was bad smell from a drain in bathroom. Beds rather on hard side but still good. Clean, nice and very friendly staff. A nice stay!

Review 60:Any issues I think are with Delphi rather than restricted to this hotel. Prices are relatively high, but that's a consequence of the village's location. Similarly, facilities like the bathroom are reasonable but not exactly modern. However, they do the job they are designed for and given the short-term nature of most visits to Delph are to be expected. Some people may have an issue with these matters, but I wouldn't let them put you off staying here.

Review 61:In a place like Delphi where hotels seem to vary little in facilities, price or quality, it's the people who make the difference. Everyone at Varonos was incredibly helpful and friendly and dealt with any questions happily. Breakfast was good and there could be no complaints.

Review 62:The beds squeak with every movement. The hotel needs some renovation. At least to change the bath curtains with some sort of a shower cabin.

Review 63:Located on one of the two main streets of Delphi, close to the archeological site and the museum. The most distant points: The Temple of Athena and The Tholos are 1 km away. Supportive staff. Being there in September it's value for money.

Review 64:View from the balcony Very clean As I was departing the hotel before breakfast time they prepared a wonderful breakfast picnic box for me to take away.

Review 65:Nothing in particular.

Review 66:The accomodation was nice since we had two separate rooms with the external door in common. Hotel is nice, clean with a lot of "special" furnitures. Our room has a balcony with a spectacular view on ulive trees and the Itea gulf. A minimarket owned by the hotel is just at the next door.

Review 67:Parking is a bit difficult, as the road is narrow.

Review 68:Perfect rest stop to recharge before (or after) seeing the archeological site of Delphi. A mere 800-1000m walk to the entrance from the hotel. A great buffet style breakfast and great staff make Hotel Varonos an excellent choice.

Review 69:Location - Terraces to ,agnificient view of Delfi and the sea Great staff - it is a family hotel and we got warm hospitality as well as recommendations aabout what to do around. Very food breakfast. Clean and nicely decorated rooms

Review 70:Beds were the worst, too small and too uncomfortable. Breakfast room had no views so was a rather uninspiring place to eat, other hotels seem to have glorious views from their meal areas.

Review 71:Friendly owner. Good breakfast. Wifi ok when it worked. Room had view but balcony too small to enjoy it comfortably. Easy walk to and from bus stop.

Review 72:The hotel is a little dated, but more than sufficient for an overnight stay to see the archeological sight. The price was about right for the accomodations.

Review 73:The location was ideal. The hotel is within walking distance of both the archeological museum and the site. There were numerous restaurants nearby. We rented the family apartment, which is two regular rooms with a private hall between the rooms. It worked out perfectly! The view from the balcony was great, and breakfast was delicious with lots of variety.

Review 74:Shower was unbelievably small.

Review 75:Beautiful view of the sea and mountains. We had a two room, two bathroom apt; perfect for our family of four. Very nice staff!

Review 76:The bathroom is a bit old, and there wasn't always enough hot water. The room decoration is somewhat idiosyncratic (i.e., kitschy), which may appeal to some, but not to everyone.

Review 77:Nice hotel, friendly staff. The room is well-equipped with a large, comfortable bed, chairs, a desk, a small fridge and a balcony. Great breakfast buffet with much choice.

Review 78:Welcoming and friendly family staff, excellent breakfast, our whole family enjoyed the experience. The sea view rooms are particularly good value ... priceless sunsets over the Gulf of Corinth!

Review 79:Rooms quite small, but then it's no 4 or 5 star hotel.

Review 80:Beautiful view. Well positioned near restaurants and shops. Great breakfast.

Review 81:very friendly upgraded us to valley view at no charge was a surprisingly spectacular location

Review 82:Nice lobby and great location.

Review 83:None

Review 84:Near to everything

Review 85:Fabulous staff and great view to the Gulf of Corinth. Warm and cosy room - small but adequate.....it's Delphi and a great location.

Review 86:Poor standard of quality. renovation time has already been overdued. They asked cash payment, which was not specified on booking.

Review 87:Very good breakfast. Easy parking. Appartment with 2 rooms- very good family solution.

Review 88:Very slow wifi. No hot water for most of one day. Very small shower.

Review 89:Very friendly staff. Great location. Spectacular views.

Review 90:Very good and value for the price . Best stay in Delphoi. choose the sea view rooms for a breathtaking sunset

Review 91:Flexible, helpful staff Location is very good - close to the archeological site Great breakfast

Review 92:Good hotel. I'm satisfied.

Review 93:Some hotel facilities require renewal. No parking.

Review 94:shower - crowded no parking

Review 103:everything was great

Review 104:staff, location, value, view. Looking forward to next visit

Review 105:Friendliness, efficiency, comfort, and stunning valley views from top floor room.

Review 106:Could hear the noise from upstairs rooms.

Review 107:Owners are very nice people and really willing to help.

Review 108:Very dirty!!!!

Review 109:Lovely breakfast, clean room, helpful staff. Very close to archeological site. Good view from back of hotel on balcony.

Review 110:poor wifi in room

Review 111:Friendly staff

Review 112:room a bit oldish but ok for a short stay

Review 113:good localization (town is small so many hotels lay along the main street), nice breakfast, helpful staff,

Review 114:The location was a good walking distance from the Delphi ruins and right in the heart of eateries.

Review 115:rustic wooden interiors cleanliness very warm and friendly hosts very good location, close to the Delphi site

Review 116:The beds were uncomfortable and you could hear water in the plumbing.

Review 117:It was a good location for the site and the museum.

Review 118:Very friendly staff eager to please Hotel was decorated in a variety of different and charming items. Breakfast was very adequate

Review 119:breakfast, showers (low flow) and the very thin walls (noise from the boutique until late, and from the wake up calls as from 6.30 am)

Review 120:nice wellcome

Review 121:Good location , friendly staff
