Reviews for Mango Lagoon Resort & Wellness Spa
Review 1:Our stay was fabulous! Rooms were nice and big, we stayed with another couple and were very comfortable. The courtyard was a bonus and the pool was right at our back door - highly recommend it!
Review 2:The self catering facilities were excellent but there was no storage space for food. The distance from the beach was further than appeared in the ads.
Review 3:Unit was a comfortable size and was well equipped for self catering. The shutters were ideal for letting in the breeze, sunlight and the Mountain views.
Review 4:No stuff and no room service. Shampoo and conditioner are only provided every 4 days. Bath towels are only provided for the first day of your arrival. Additional towel costs of 3.5 AUD.
Review 5:Location and the environment.
Review 6:We didn't have a car and nearby supermarket had limited supplies and expensive so unable to make use of the beautiful kitchen
Review 7:Room was just like the pictures on their website. We had a courtyard apartment that opened directly on to the lap pool.Beautiful tropical gardens with sounds of birdlife.
Review 8:The room was tiny. The blinds weren't sufficient to blockout the light or afford total privacy. The bed was uncomfortable.
Review 9:The ambiance of the property was lovely. Picturesque, peaceful, tranquil setting. Beautiful pools. A great shortcut to the beach.
Review 10:the rooms lacked a few items, tissues, drinking glasses, wine glasses, towels, cutlery and crockery was all odd not a full set of anything
Review 11:Short walk to restaurant and shops.
Review 12:It would be nice to have glasses and mugs matched. I often find this in apartments, it is as if items are collected from left overs or op shops.
Review 13:Size of unit and facilities
Review 14:Beautiful view of the mountain from the pools. Short walk to the main strip. Friendly, responsive and helpful staff. Spacious apartments. Not overpriced.
Review 15:Studio room with limited facilities, not a typical studio. You don't have any outdoor space, confined to your room inside, have to go specifically to pool area to be outside.
Review 16:Great pools, free wifi and rooms clean and comfortable. Short walk to beach.
Review 17:The room we paid 300 dollars for was a joke could not move how they classifie it as a hotel room I don't understand for the price I was no happy with the room
Review 18:The hotel and the complex where excellent Pools are amazing and staff lovely
Review 19:I loved the apartment that we stayed in at Mango Lagoon Resort. It was really spacious and the kitchen was very well equipped. The pools on site were beautiful.
Review 20:WiFi was a bit patchy but it was still good to have it - a lot of expensive hotels charge you for it! Bit disappointed to have to pay for replacement toilet rolls!
Review 21:Great location. friendly staff. Studio room is very good value for money. Lovely pools to lie by. Recently re-decorated.
Review 22:Room extremely small, and not what website booking led us to believe wewere getting. No daily servicing, one half roll of toilet paper inbathroom. Extra could be purchased for 1.50. Beach towels also were 3.50from reception. Fridge had an empty water jug - with a mouldy lid. Nofly screen in window so we were unable to open it. The curtain and rodfell down on our heads when we tried to close it. As there was no chairin room - the bed had to be pushed over to window so we could putcurtain back up. Springs in bed could also be felt. One single blanketin room for king bed. Absolute rubbish of a hotel. No help with luggageand we were on 2nd floor- we are 2 Middle Aged women. Left hotel afterone night stay in disgust. We had booked for 4. Would not recommend thisplace at all.
Review 23:Nothing
Review 24:No light in the shower. No wi-fi in the room and poor signal in public places.
Review 25:Easy to find in Palm Cove. Nice public area. Friendly staff. Pleasant swimming pools (fun for children). Walk distance to the beach. Flexible check-out time. Coffee and tea in the room.
Review 26:Place was falling apart tvs didn't work well was a bath not a spa bath as in picture dissapointed overall didn't match the standard in pictures
Review 27:Can get a little noisy with the pools so close to the apartments - but I guess that was inevitable given we travelled during school holidays.
Review 28:Excellent accommodation - very clean, modern, well serviced by friendly staff. Far better than a certain expensive resort in nearby Port Douglas (where we stayed in the days following) - wish we had booked our full holiday at Mango Resort.
Review 29:2 bed apartment was lovely travelling as a family with a 14 and 17 year old. pools are amazing, resort is well kept with beautiful grounds. Apartment had adequate catering facilities. Not serviced is a down side, stayed 7 nights so one service would have been appreciated. Great location, very quiet but walk in 5 mins to all the restaurants and beautiful beach. Easy for day trips to reef and kuranda and port douglas.
Review 30:The only negative was inadequate kitchen utensils and crockery. Made things a bit of a juggle when making our own food. Was also not a fan of the quilts, bring your own covers for them if you can.
Review 31:Beautiful location and grounds, quiet, relaxed and convenient. The lap pool was excellent and our ground floor apartment had a small courtyard for us to eat poolside. The staff were always very friendly and helpful. The negatives below probably helped it to be affordable for us.
Review 32:Not at the beachfront. WIFI wasn't given and no one at the reception to help after 3pm.
Review 33:I like the spacious room. I like the pools. I like the patio table setting outside.
Review 34:Staff didn't reply to either emails sent and when we arrived in Australia both phone calls went straight to voice mail and again no response from the resort.
Review 35:Nice pools and nice walk to beach (about 1/2 K)
Review 36:The unit we had inadequate facilities. I was advised that I had booked budget accommodation which was not apparent when I booked.
Review 37:The facilities are well maintained and set in a lovely environment.
Review 38:Our basic double room was small, there were no fly/mosquito screens so could not open the window to get any fresh air.
Review 39:The pool was very good and little used. The location was good an easy walk to the beach and restaurants.
Review 40:This property looks great on the Internet. I would imagine the full size units are nice but the Studio units are tiny. When we checked in there was no Hairdryer and the jug didn't work. Both were replaced. They supply two towels for two people for three days. With no laundry available I asked for replacement towels. They are available AT A CHARGE. There was one part toilet roll only for two people for three days. We had to supply our own. They charge 2 % surcharge if you use a credit card. Everything about this complex seems to be driven by making the best possible profit. There was no AC controller, and the drapes were too narrow to fully cover the window despite there being a pedestrian path right outside. Very disappointing weekend.
Review 41:The grounds ,landscaping and pools were lovely. Then you step inside your Cupboard/studio Unit.
Review 42:Having to pay $3.50 for extra towels (that we didn't even get!) surely they can be factored into the room charge... Reception closes awfully early - a huge pain if you need something (like fresh towels) at 6pm!
Review 43:The location was such that it was close enough to the beach but far enough that we weren't bothered with all the beachfront noise. The grounds were lovely, the pools were beautiful. We loved the Bali vibe it had going on.
Review 44:The room was very basic as we paid $155 for one night and yet stayed the night before down the road in a one br apt for $120. I think wifi password should be given at checkin as it was useless in our room and I went to close the curtain and the whole rod fell off and hit me in the shoulder. Maybe apt would be better but prices high unless stay longer. Would advise anyone staying not to get a standard room
Review 45:Looked lovely on the outside!
Review 46:The cleanliness here was poor. Smelly cloth shower curtains probably aren't suitable in a humid climate. Nic nack furniture items are just dust gathering nightmares to maintain but don't add to decor. Cane furniture was so uncomfortable to sit on in lounge. The dark shutters made the lounge area oppressive. One bedroom didn't have curtains that covered the window fully. Kitchen surfaces were a bit grubby and the stools for the counter area were full of crumbs and bits of food which probably attracted ants. I got bitten by ants when I was in bed too. I used to be a housekeeper at a hotel so I know how hard it is to do the work but a lot could be helped if more sensible furniture and decor options were made. And if there were plenty staff to do the cleaning so they can do their jobs properly.
Review 47:The pool areas looked nice. Staff member at reception was helpful.
Review 48:Staff seemed a little confused, thin walls in room, toilet was not clean.
Review 49:Beautiful initial impression, wonderful pools running through the property, lush tropical paradise.
Review 50:We booked an apartment for 2 adults with 3 children and got two rooms with a distance of more than 100 m between them. Check in was closed at 5 pm. One bed was not made up. Management seemed a bit overwhelmed by their task.
Review 51:Not a bad experience but housekeeping could have been better. We had no housekeeping carried out on our one week stay. I thought at least one change of linen would have been nice, plus a top up on toilet rolls, tea, coffee tc.
Review 52:Staff very helpful and pleasant. Location, handy for going to beach front.
Review 53:Wifi shocking. I also found it difficult to get into and out of the shower over the spa bath- no good for an older person. And it sprayed water all overt the room, making it even more dangerous.
Review 54:The peace and quiet and the three swimming pools, although I only used one.
Review 55:we were in a ground floor motel room so could not open the window at night as no screens on window and could not adjust the air conditioner, so we felt a bit warm and stuffy. Otherwise nice and peaceful
Review 56:quiet
Review 57:The double rooms are very small. They don't change towels, extra charge is apply if you need a clean towel. Also there is no laundry possibility. We had to go to Cairns to clean our towels. The day we wanted to rest by the pool, they were cleaning the path with pressurized water using more than 70 db diesel generators.
Review 58:Rude, incompetent staff (one called my wife a liar in front of people to cover up for a mistake he made). Staff has no idea of what 'hospitality' is about. Only interest of staff is selling tours.
Review 59:Nice big appartment, nice pool(s)
Review 60:A few more cooking utensils would of been handy. Someone had been smoking outside our room, could smell smoke & there were butts there when we returned from being out. Little things I know but you did ask...
Review 61:Helpful activities advice.Relaxed atmosphere.
Review 62:Poorly stocked kitchen.nowhere to Put food. There was nowhere comfortable to sit.the bed was v hard
Review 63:Loved the lap pool.2 entrances.the way it all opened up.v private.
Review 64:The spacious room and facilities provided were all we needed. The location was great - 10 minutes and you are at the beach and restaurants etc.
Review 65:The pool area was lovely and the whole grounds maintained nicely The service was excellent
Review 66:The staff were very friendly and helpful. Grant was amazing helping me choose tours to suit me perfectly. Loved having the 4 pools to choose from and massage service on site. My appartment was perfect with a secluded patio to sit outside. I have nothing but praise for this resort that I stayed at for 9 days, wish it could have been longer. Hope to return.
Review 67:1 bedroom suite is way too small, bad lighting and no fan in the bathroom, having to pay for toilet paper and anything over 1 towel for entire stay.continental breakfast terrible
Review 68:Beautiful gardens , clean shared facilities, 1 bedroom apartment (friends stayed in this, definitely worth extra money)
Review 69:Bed was very uncomfortable and needed replacing. Apartment is a little tired and dark inside and in need of a freshen up. Very basic cooking facilities and bbq area was at the opposite end of property from our apartment so impractical to use. Wifi slow when it did work.
Review 70:Great location and beautiful pools and grounds. Spacious apartment.
Review 71:Overall we have no complaints. One area for improvement was the internet which was very slow at night (likely when everyone was trying to get on it).
Review 72:We traveled with our two kids (2, 6). The two bdrm apt was huge and perfect for our family. The location is quiet but close enough we could all walk leisurely to town in 8 min. The staff was very friendly and the grounds were very pretty.
Review 73:Well appointed living areas, kitchen facilities, bedrooms and bathrooms. Able to cook own meals in the kitchen and use the shared BBQ. The pools were clean and had comfortable lounges. The grounds were beautiful and it was an enjoyable walk to the beach and restaurants. There is a good shopping centre at nearby Clifton Beach which made self catering easy.
Review 74:Unclean on arrival - dirty crockery, dust and dead cockroaches we thought would have been swept up. Not enough crockery, cutlery (although knives were sharp) and imagine if you just had, dishwasher tablets, detergent, and clothes powder. Also, a couple more bbq's in grounds would be great - we stayed in no. 26 so out the back on short cut to beach would have been great.
Review 75:Loved style of accomodation, space and aquatic layout. Lots of people staying but quiet on the whole
Review 76:Room was quite lovely, initially Very spacious for a double room. However, it needed a spruce up, plaster webbing very visible, panel of art work completely missing paint chips and scuff marks were very obvious. Please be aware that unless you stay 8 nights or more your room will not be serviced, even tho it says so in the welcome book. You must pay extra, if you want it serviced before then. We had to buy toilet paper( only half roll supplied), tissues etc. If you wanted clean towels you had to pay extra. Furniture not conducive for a night in. Considering what we paid to stay here, it was very disappointing!!
Review 77:The resort was in lovely surroundings, peaceful and very tropical. Short 5 minute walk to beach. Also to the shopping village and the many cafes and restaurants. Pools were okay, although one was emptied and being worked on two days, after we arrived, with no notice!
Review 78:We stayed for two nights and were eating out both of those. Plates n glasses v sparse....one wine glass, two flutes...didn't affect our stay but certainly not sufficient for a 2 bed booking.
Review 79:Space...2 bed apt came as a full spacious one bed apt with heaps of room and a one bed suite. Pools, leisure n decent lap pool facing the forested mountain, general ambience and location was much closer to the main street than expected ...the short cut should be better publicised.
Review 80:Infrequent servicing- if your used to daily servicing in hotels you might find it hard to adjust to only having servicing if you stay for a whole week (then serviced twice weekly). Would be ok if you had an apartment with laundry and cleaning equipment, but we had a studio. You can get replacement towels at reception for $3 each though and we were provided with an extra bar of soap when we asked. Could not connect to free wifi in room, signal weak- multiple attempts. Only one small soap and a tiny shampoo and conditioner in room, which were not enough for 2 people for one night, and not replaced after check in- take your own toiletries. Extra cost for pool towels ($3) and surcharge for using a credit card (2%).
Review 81:Nice gardens and pools Large comfy bed Nice bathroom Walking distance to esplanade Quiet location and rooms Helpful staff
Review 82:The distance to the esplanade is a little far, 10-15 minute walk in a residential area. The grounds of the resort are nice, but there is simply not enough to do there. A car is handy.
Review 83:Helpful staff, spacious rooms, great room facilities.
Review 84:The apartment we had was in a very poor state of repair, the terracedoors wouldn't open, therefore it was dark, there were many lightbulbs missing, making it darker still.
Review 85:At first sight it looked great, but! it looked great
Review 86:Not as clean as expected, e.g. bedside table covered with dust, stickiness on kitchen floor, and lack of coffee plunger
Review 87:Location, resort grounds, proximity to beach and esplanade, helpful and friendly staff who booked our tours, size of apartment and bed
Review 88:Fantastic location and very peaceful yet still family friendly. Short walk to the beach and Esplanade. Fabulous service from the staff when one of air conditioners began to leak, they couldn't have done more to help and to make us comfortable. We'll definitely be back.
Review 89:No room service under a week. Extra Towels for the room are at a cost. Pool towels are at a cost. Amenities at a cost. Should be provided.
Review 90:Spacious rooms and private.
Review 91:Wonderful weather unable to be enjoyed from personal rooms due to ambiguous room description...no balconies. No lift to first floor rooms... Half the property, which maybe a problem for some. Design of building means many rooms only look into neighbouring properties.
Review 92:Bed, bed and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff. Extensive swimming pools and well manicured outdoor gardens ( although one closed for refurbishment without notification)
Review 93:*It was far from the main city cairns. *Wifi was slow. *Breakfast was bad paying $8 for cerial. *Air conditioner was always on, couldn't change temperature.
Review 94:*Staff was friendly. *Nice swimming pools. *large lounge section to relax and watch a movie.
Review 95:The spa bath was one of those corner ones and not really what I expected. Decor was a bit harsh.
Review 96:Quick helpful response by staff after hours to problem with TV remote. Lovely landscaping, pools and outlook
Review 97:We stayed in a one bedroom apartment with spa. It was our second time here as we really like the place. The room is really big, clean with a fresh look. There are three diffrent pools so it doesnt get crowded. Walking distance to Palm cove strand walk with all its excellent restaurants. Definitly recommend it if you want a nice get away at a resonable rice!
Review 98:Room was a little dated and could have been cleaner. There were stains and marks that could have been cleaned. Wi-Fi was poor, resort felt a little lifeless and empty. Need a bar or something.
Review 99:Pools were good. A few minutes walk to the beach and the self catering facilities were good. Value for money in Palm Cove.
Review 100:My wife and I stayed with my father in law and the room was set up perfectly. There was a very large living area with kitchen and two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. Great facility including a pool that is at least 50 meters for lap swimming. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone! We picked this place mostly on price and were very nicely surprised when we arrived.
Review 101:Staff generally were unhelpful and sadly for us thanks to a disagreement on payment (they thought we hadn't paid but our bank statement says otherwise) rude and threatening (they have taken more money from us since clearing our bank account of whatever was left with no receipt provided when requested). No housekeeping after staying for a week. Full bin no toilet paper etc. we asked for this service they apologised but then never provided it. The pool was full of leaves and debris from the gardener and was filthy on the bottom. The area we stayed in smelt terrible all the time, we think it was a drain nearby but not sure. Quite a walk to Palm Cove compared to other hotels. No WiFi.
Review 102:the lady at reception who helped us decide on and book our trip. She looked and acted professionally and thanks to her we had a great day out on the reef.
Review 103:Wifi was pretty bad. Cut out easily and often but a totally minor complaint in the grand scheme of things.
Review 104:Spacious, clean and quiet. Close to everything without being right in the middle of it. Very enjoyable.
Review 105:Free internet didn't work, pools needed to be cleaned daily.
Review 106:Great service, we were on our honeymoon and they upgraded our room and gave us free bottle of wine and chocolates. Nice and quiet, room was clean and had everything needed, guest services were good value (bike hire). We will be returning.
Review 107:Ants and poor wifi. We had to clean under the furniture ourselves as there were so many ants. Every time we had food out to cook meals the ants would come out. Mango Lagoon state they have free wifi however it was a very poor connection (at least from my room) and it continuously dropped out. Used my mobile internet 90% of the time.
Review 108:The pools (right outside our room) and the scenery of the mountains were very nice. It felt like a secluded getaway as it was so quiet. My family enjoyed their stay.
Review 109:Would have been nice to have a balcony and a bar/restaurant so you didnt have to leave resort but wanted to eat out. All in all, lovely place.
Review 110:Pools, peaceful, quiet resort, good air conditioning, big apartment, good location for exploring fnq.
Review 111:Room had no balcony and the view was non existent.Windows had steel shutters which made it feel very enclosed and dark. The position of the resort was a long way from the beach, more than a few minutes walk as we were told by staff.
Review 112:Room was large and well equiped.
Review 113:No room service (I'm aware that was on the info sheet) having to pay for fresh towels and toilet rolls ( only got 1 hand towel, no tea towel) No resupply of coffee, tea or milk in room No space to boil the kettle (had to do it in bathroom) TV should be mounted on wall (positioned way too low to watch) No bed lamps Shower curtain hanging on spring wire, too short: water spilled onto floor outside of shower. Plug for sink was missing hall ways and stairs were dirty Breakfast: 4 cups available for 5 people; Once there was no butter, cups weren't washed properly, some coffee sachets were old and thus lumpy. No soap in public toilets I do not think we will return. Sorry being so critical, but used to run tourist facilities, so know how it should be. Thank you, have a good day
Review 114:Ambiance Pools greenery eating area for breakfast Peace & quiet Staff lovely
Review 115:We had a 2 bed apartment for three of us and could not fault the facilities at all, very spacious and very quiet. As many fresh mangos as you can handle is a unique selling point - would come back just for them.
Review 116:The short walk to shops/main beach may be a bit too far if you have kids and are carrying lots of bags for them etc We used the washing machine on the last day and it left weird black marks all over out clothes and shrunk some items
Review 117:Great staff - lady at the front desk was very helpful when renting a car etc Pools are great...there are 4 so you can often get a pool all to yourself Short walk to shops was fine for us (mother and adult daughter) Breakfast is good if you don't feel like leaving the resort and is only $7.70
Review 118:Not able to have enough kitchen workspace, microwave oven should be located on wall shelf to give more space, also not able to go and get a decent expresso on the location,
Review 119:location to the beach, and the pools
Review 120:Excellent value for money. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment which was huge. Fantastic in room facilities including well equipped kitchen, laundry and outdoor eating area. Grounds, BBQ facilities and pools were well maintained and ample for visitors. Staff were friendly and helpful - one even delivered a bag of delicious resort grown mangos to our door. Palm Cove was a relaxing idyllic location for a family holiday. Would definitely recommend Mango Lagoon for all travellers including those with small children.
Review 121:shutters towards the pool side didn't really close. don't think there's a high crime rate but still, anybody could've gotten in. also not really great in relation to keeping the mosquitos out. No restaurant in the facility, then again, it's only a 10 minute walk.
Review 122:great value for money. Pools were amazing with great views. Apartment was simply huge, and beautiful. Lots of help from staff for tours etc.
Review 123:The room was very small. We asked for two single bed sand got a queen. There was no where to sit other than a cane box. There wasnt enough light over the shower, we had to use a torchto see which tap was witch. It was hard to get our bags up stairs. The rooms were poorly marked
Review 124:I did like the pools and the grounds
Review 125:Not much. The staff could have Been a little More forthcoming with information but they were friendly and pleasant.
Review 126:The rooms were large and the location was quiet yet only a few block walk to a lovely beach.
Review 127:The room was a bit small, but we had chosen a motel style room, not an apartment.
Review 128:The cost was very reasonable i.e. good value for what we had paid. The location was actually better than we had expected. We preferred to walk to the beach and shops and there was easy access to a path that linked us to a suburban street, providing an easy walk to the waterfront. The gardens, pools and pool surroundings in the resort were very pleasant.
Review 129:The staff were excellent and very accomodating. There were 4 pools to choose from and the grounds were beautifully maintained. The owners were very lovely people and had young children themselves. The views from the grounds were awesome and overall it was fairly quiet most of the time and that was in peak season. The ground floor apartments had outdoor table and chairs and had your own private swim out to the pool. Great location and a 5 min walk to the beach.
Review 130:room was a little small couldn't find the tv remote air con was on but remotes have been removed from all rooms so couldn't adjust and it was Pretty cold
Review 131:close to palm cove central but not in the busy busy area. facilities, pools ect were great. good price staff helpful with requests - such as booking airport shuttle and directions on where we wanted to go
Review 132:The location is a bit of a pain. Especially since the complex doesn't have a restaurant because it's a good 15 min walk to the esplanade - and if you walk back in the dark it's pretty damn scary in the badly lit streets.
Review 133:The complex is beautiful and sother relaxing. Our apartment was stunning - on the ground floor right next to the lap pool. Comfortable bed. Excellent apartment - well kitted out.
Review 134:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Required a room change and this was done quickly and without any problems. Great place to stay, would highly recommend. Fantastic value for money.
