Reviews for Hotel Ajau
Review 1:Noise of other guests. It is good hotel management turns off the lights of the Reception Areas and hallways at 10:00 p.m. and then everybody becomes quiet.
Review 2:Location - it is at the historic district of Guate, located near most tourist attractions. Buses for out-of town have stations near by such as FDN, ADN and Blanca Bus Companies. Green buses or Metro Link - have several stations or stops near this hotel. Bus Stops for Red buses are 5 minutes away. Friendly staff and "Free" Breakfast.
Review 3:Noise of the people occupying the rooms next to me ( mostly families). Good thing: At 10:00 p.m. when management turns off the lights in the hall ways, everybody becomes quiet and goes to sleep.
Review 4:Location - near: Tourists attractions, 3 bus stations for out of Guate's travels, metro stops for green buses, stops for the red buses as well.
Review 5:Too far from bus station. Pay for a taxi. No elevator. Very hard mattress, very. First down for breakfast, had an early flight, and people who came after us got served first, we walked out.
Review 6:Just the price.
Review 7:The walls were so thin I could hear everything my neighbors said and did... The location is ok, but I don't think it safe to walk around at night, there are a lot of shady people about.
Review 8:The room and bathroom were clean, and there was a tv and free breakfast included.
Review 9:Horrible stay. Staff was not really welcoming, facility is very old like a bad motel. Rooms have barred windows into the corridors so its very dark almost like a prison but do come with a flat screen TV. Unbelievable noisy (street noise, other guests as the walls are very thin you pretty much hear everything, kids crying, music). No noise only between 2-4 am. Dont bother staying there! Value for money is no relation to what you get. We are NOT recommending this hotel.
Review 10:We did not like much. The beds were large and comfortable and seems to be a safe place. Thats about it..
Review 11:The staffs were dishonest with me. One guy made me paid more money for the room and I was very upset about. It wasn't the price that I was agreed on.
Review 12:I didn't like much about this place and that's why only stayed one day.
Review 13:Third time stayed in that hotel! The personal is very kind, ready to help with everything! They can explane how to get in every pint of the city, where to find what you need. Also it's possible to call taxi any time in the night or day. They have exchange, breakfast is perfect as always, most delicios coffe! There are computers if you need to print smth or just surf the net. Hot water in the shower, clean beds. There are special place where you can safe your stuff and go to walk in the city. Location is perfect, there are 3 bus stations on the next street! 10 min from the central square. Super market is in 5 min from the hotel. The best quality and price in that part of the city!
Review 14:Only complaint was that our 3rd floor room overlooked the street and the traffic below was quite noisy. Otherwise, a nice stay.
Review 15:The place was centrally located in Zona 1 with a comfortable ambience and very secure. The hot water showers were wonderful And the free breakfast a nice addition.
Review 16:neighborhood is not safe at night, better stay in the hotel
Review 17:Close to bus companies (their busses leave at their offices), excellent staff, good value for money
Review 18:The hotel is a bit noisy in the evening due to the outside traffic. Also, I would recommend extra caution, when going outside in the evening. The location is designated safe, but common sense should be used to avoid troubles.
Review 19:I have definitely enjoyed staying in the hotel though it was just for one night. The breakfast in the hotel is great, the internet connection is reasonable. The staff in the hotel was also really helpfull although a bit of Spanish will help greatly. The hotel is near the main square and if you are coming for example from Flores by ADN or Linea Dorada, the hotel is close to the respective stations.
Review 20:WiFi didn't work well. Street side rooms were really noisy late at night.
Review 21:Fairly efficient operation, helped get me to airport on time and place has lots of character.
Review 22:Wifi works only at rooms near reception desk.
Review 23:Good location near Tipografia station and historic center. Very basic yet clean rooms. Helpful staff. Would go again.
Review 24:The pillows were terrible. The windows do not keep noise outside. Breakfast starts late for early birds (6:15 am). TV image was not 100%.
Review 25:There is parking at no cost.It is clean. There is a small restaurant. It seems to be safe. You can walk to the popular Sixth Avenue. Tons of taxis in front of the hotel ready to go. The hot water was working great.
Review 26:Too much noise around 7am, wifi disconnects every now and then!.
Review 27:Taxi driver named Don Hector was SUPER nice, friendly and helpful here is his number 5532-1170 . Food was ok and cheap.
Review 28:I returned to that hotel for the second time and I was really glad to find the same kind people on reception, very tasty breakfast and nice atmosphere in the hotel :) Hope to be there again!-) Thanks :)
Review 29:I had a bad experience, and found another hotel the next morning. The hotel itself wasn't terrible, but I just happened to be there when Ajau was hosting a huge conference for teenagers. Every rm and hallway was filled with loud kids, even until 11pm when they had a inspirational meeting---with cheers and clapping. The breakfast was rather factory style: a cold roll and a slap of eggs on a plastic plate. Again, I'm not sure if the Ajau is often hosting things like this, or if I had very bad luck.
Review 30:The hotel itself is old and fairly pretty and appeared clean. There is a small dining area on the bottom floor. My room was small, and rather dark, but I didn't expect much more for the price. The owner let me cancel my reservation for the second night without making me pay.
Review 31:The location, which in the evening can be very dicey. Two friends, both living in Guatemala City, expressed great concern for my safety if I was to go outside the hotel in the evening, especially alone. The building, old and rather charming, but that includes some resulting shortcomings. In my room, sounds and conversation from an adjacent room and the open walkway around the atrium were very clear and annoying. The shower - no hot water, until I realized that the hot and cold handles were reversed from the standard in the US. Duh!! The room, lacked windows and ventilation to the outside of the building. Two small windows facing the interior of the building provided just a little ventilation, but still the air seemed somewhat stuffy until I became acclimated to it. Sounds and conversation from adjacent room were annoying at times. The price. Very reasonable, but if you're on a tight budget, don't forget that your final cost will also include two taxes of sorts at 10% and 12%.
Review 32:The location, which is very convenient to the terminal of the Pullman class bus service Linea Dorada, two blocks and an easy walk away. It is also near to some restaurants, as well as the pedestrian walkway for shopping on 6th Avenue, and many of the cultural sites near the historic city center. The building, which is old, but classically attractive and rather charming with a very interesting ambiance. It features an interior open space, sort of like an atrium, up through the three floors. Many of the rooms are arranged around and face this space. The restaurant occupies the space below on first floor. The shower - plenty of nice hot water, once I was turning the right handle. The room, which was sufficiently furnished, including a very comfortable bed. In spite of the fact that the room and furnishings were very dated and showed their age and use, everything seemed well maintained and clean, including the linens. The price. I felt that I got my money's worth and will definitely plan to stay here again when I need to spend the night in Guatemala City.

Review 56:I have stayed there for the second time now and liked it even more. I highly recommend this hotel to any traveller.
Review 57:A bit dodgy at night. Take taxis and there is no problem
Review 58:Breakfast, hot shower and the staff. I will stay again for sure.
Review 59:The WiFi breaks up sometimes in the upper rooms and the breakfast is not the reason to book this hotel ...
Review 60:This hotel is just a good deal. Very central, next to the transmetro, friendly helpfull stuff.
Review 61:Despite the information on the website, the breakfast is not included. You can buy it there for a good price but the information is misleading and precludes accurate comparisons between the hotels.
Review 62:The hotel Ajau represents a good relation of price to the quality.
Review 63:The immediate area around the hotel is a little unsavoury. The breakfast, which was included in the price, consisted of a up of bad coffee and a bowl of cheap cereal in warm milk.
