Reviews for Annalyn Guesthouse

Review 1:There are no locks for the rooms. The reason given is that people are trustworthy and guest lose them. If there were locks I would recommend this place.

Review 2:The kitchen was shared with the host and could only be used for breakfast. Only one table in the corridor to eat your meal. Finding the place was difficult because the google instructions led to a dead end road blocked by a rock. The location is in a residential area, no sign tells you that you reached the guesthouse.

Review 3:Having a room at a reasonable price was important to me. The house is still being done up, the guest rooms are finished but everything else is still temporary. There was a bath tub available for guests. Fast wifi is available for free.

Review 4:Everything was great from the very first moment. Host was very welcoming, room and toilet were clean, wi-fi worked great whole time. If I am ever coming back, I'll definitely stay there again.

Review 5:This is kind of an odd place - an old house that the owner seems to be in the process of turning into a guesthouse. There are a lot of rooms, although only a few other people there when we stayed. The owner doesn't give keys for the rooms or the front door of the house, which worried us a bit, but Iceland does have very low crime rates. Our room was comfortable. The upstairs bathroom was strange - if you're tall, you'll have trouble standing up in the shower - but had all the basics. There's a kitchen, although the sign says it can only be used for breakfast. The owner was friendly and gave us some good restaurant recommendations. Selfoss is not particularly pretty, but it's a convenient place to stay while driving through the South.

Review 6:During our stay, some renovation work on the guesthouse was not finished yet. This might be the reason why we were unable to adjust the temperature of the shower. So we had to take a realy warm one...

Review 7:The house outside looks a little worn down and there is no sign outside, so traveling solo, I was a little weary about staying there. There is no common room, just a kitchen table to hang out and meet other guests. The downstairs bathroom was a bit dirty and moldy.

Review 8:Owner was very nice, it's in a convenient location and the bed was so comfortable, it was the best nights sleep I've had on the road in a long time.

Review 9:a few things are still in the making (e.g., there was no door bell and we had to wait a while for the owner to let us in)

Review 10:it's all fairly new (e.g., room furniture)

Review 11:The owner was so helpful and welcoming. We felt like we were visiting a friend, rather than paid accommodation. He went out of his way to help us with our electricity converter and our car. It was very good value for the money, very clean and comfortable. There's a shared kitchen for breakfast; 2 fridges; 2 bathrooms. It was quiet.

Review 12:There was no signage outside, so we were not quite sure we're at the right house.

Review 13:Very welcoming host, who really cared we have a pleasant stay at his guesthouse. The rooms are clean and recently renovated, good WiFi. The kitchen was for all guests to use, including a large fridge to store groceries. The guesthouse is located within 5 minutes of walking distance to a supermarket, liquor store and a few restaurants.

Review 14:Too little ventilation in rooms. No finished commonroom to hang out indoors, but he had the kitchen open for using by guests even if it is his private kitchen and only has a few chairs-bit too little for 12 rooms with people. There is a table with a few chairs for common use in the hall 1 St floor. Not standard electrical sockets in all rooms. A bit problems flushing toilet in 2nd floor in the morning, had to give it some time. Water smells of sulphur (hot pots) which is a bit unpleasant.

Review 15:Very helpful and social owner. Speaks English, Islandsk, Norsk. Coffee for all to take in the morning. Spacious room with nice bed in 2nd floor. Nice terrasse and garden where you can sit and chill if weather allows. Hot tub in 2nd floor.

Review 16:As usual in Iceland, the water smelled of sulphur. It seemed these showers were especially noticeable. Also, the place was being remodeled and was lacking in a few minor details (signage, locks on room doors).

Review 17:The host was very gracious an accommodating. The room was neat, spacious, and comfortable. The wifi was very speedy. The area was ideal - just removed from downiwn.

Review 18:I came back to my room late night, had the luck to find the owner and he was able to help me otherwise i would not be able to charge my devices on this weird "italian" electricity plugs. No black out curtains on my room. Extremely bright. the front yard needs better care.
