Reviews for Hotel Panamerican

Review 1:Didn't feel safe in the centro. Accosted once by an angry individual. He backed down when I turned and confronted him.

Review 2:We stayed one night while transiting to another property. The central location was nice but the museums we wanted to see were far away. Room was adequate. Hotel has seen better days. Wifi ok. Great restaurant and bar.

Review 3:We had a street-side room which was extremely noisy while trying to sleep.

Review 4:Location, location, location! We were able to feel comfortable enjoying the nightlife of zona 1 which isn't always the safest for tourists. But leaving my purse in the hotel room and being just a hop, skip, and jump across the street, we were able to rumbar with the locals at cien puertas and other fun bars.

Review 5:The front office staff were unfriendly and we have been charged twice on our credit card, once for the room including tax and another charge without tax. This could have been an error or a scam by the staff. We will be requesting a refund of the second charge. Beware of this when checking in. We signed only one credit card voucher.

Review 6:The location was excellent and the original art deco decor.

Review 7:the location is not good, it does not feel so good to walk around at night, it is not totally safe...

Review 8:the 100 year old premises are beautiful with folk art and weavings everywhere, beautiful old floor, high ceiling

Review 9:On arrival they had no reservation from Booking. com. or anticipation of my arrival. Fortunately they had rooms available.

Review 10:A nice older hotel--perhaps a bit long in the tooth. Still comfortable enough and served my purposes.

Review 11:Wifi is in only some rooms, that are situated closer to the port. My room was on the third floor this time, and the water pressure in the shower was really poor (I stay in this hotel all the time and this was the first time I had this problem).

Review 12:This is an old historical Guatemalan hotel in the center of Zona 1, close to business and government. We love it for that role. Many Guatemalan business and government people come here for meetings and media interviews during the day. We always stay here when we are in Guatemala, and the staff remembers us. Love this place!

Review 13:Nothing.

Review 14:Food and friendliness.

Review 15:At $80/night, outrageous price for Guatemala. Pleasant staff.

Review 16:Charming old hotel.

Review 17:nothing

Review 18:Dirty

Review 19:Atmosphere at breakfast Very helpful Karina on the desk

Review 20:Room was noisy . The only downside . Ask for a quiet room !!!!

Review 21:Good staff . Cheap . Good location .

Review 22:The cooling fan in the rooms were noisy

Review 23:The location and Guatemala atmosphere

Review 24:self-serve elevator wojuld be nice...also limited variety on the restaurant menu

Review 25:location

Review 26:everything!!!

Review 27:The management do not follow what is stated on paper work. I suposse to get a room with bed double bed and bigger room, and didn't happen.

Review 28:The food.

Review 29:The distance to the airport is considerable At nights the Centro Historico isn't recommended for strolling (and there isn't much to see) Taxis in and out center c

Review 30:It's a hotel with an classical look, from 50-60's which gives it a pleasant ambience. Cleanliness impeccable If you just come to stay in an affordable hotel, it's what you get Restaurant has good service and traditional dishes. Worth the visit

Review 31:The staff were cold and distracted. The receptionist kept us waiting while she talked on the phone to her family and friends and was really almost rude. We were going to eat in the restaurant, but got so turned off by how we were received that we decided to go elsewhere. We've received attention that was much more welcoming and helpful at hotels that cost half the price. Really, they should know better. You can feel the history and the grandeur of the place when you enter, but with a little more effort this place could have a spectacular ambience rather than a feel of somewhat faded glory. The location is great, as is the balcony, but this is downtown Guate, so there will be street noise in the middle of the night. Regardless, I'd prefer the street side to the courtyard.

Review 32:The beds were really comfortable, the location can't be beat if you want to be in Zona 1, and the balcony affords a nice view of the action on 6th Avenue. The bathroom was spacious and clean and had a big tub.

Review 33:Noisy courtyard if you want to sleep past 7 or go to bed before 12 on weekend.

Review 34:The food is good. The hotel is comfortable. If your room has windows on courtyard side it can be noisy early in the morning. The service--ability to get private taxis and orientation about city was also good. Can't beat the location, price, quality in zone 1.

Review 35:I was not impressed with hotel so far from airport cost $20 to get to airport would have put the money towards a upscale hotel near airport that offered a free shuttle.

Review 36:Staff very nice.

Review 37:Arrived late at night after 40 hours of travelling to find our double room with "2 double beds" had only 2 single beds and the 4 of us could not fit. Staff very apologetic but nothing they could do. Had to find somewhere else.

Review 38:Looked very nice but could not stay.

Review 39:We arrived at 10.00pm and they had no record of our booking. Luckily thay did have a room and were most helpful.

Review 40:We love the atmosphere in this hotel as it has a guatemalan feel to it. This is our third visit and it looked this time as if it had had some redecoration.

Review 41:Didn't get balcony room as booked, bed linen wasn't clean. Recommend staying in zone 10 only, Zone 1 doesn't feel tourist friendly in my opinion

Review 42:Although we did have hot water, the water pressure was low. The rooms were decorated plainly--nothing fancy that's for sure. No pictures on the walls. No carpet or rug.

Review 43:The service was excellent. The location was perfect for our trip--Easter Week in Guatemala. The restaurant was very good. The hotel had charm--a lot of history. It's old. By Guatemala standards, it was pretty nice.

Review 44:Hotel needs updating. Room was small and dark, noisy, completely lackingin amenities. Better to stay by the airport or university.

Review 45:Close to the historic center of Guatemala City--but then, there'snot much to see or do in the historic center.

Review 46:Internet sporadic. Zone 1 is not the best zone, but it is quite historic.

Review 47:the staff were very helpful.the restaurant inside the hotel was excellent.we felt safe.and it was good value for the money. an excellent budget choice.

Review 48:Noisy at night from street noise and partiers in the pedestrian area below.

Review 49:Proximity to the town square and historic sites and the fact that it's adjacent to the pedestrian shopping district with the street musicians, shops, and local flavor.

Review 50:Its an old hotel in the historic zone of guatemala. This is not a fancy five star hotel. The price is great for what you get: safety, friendly and clean. The staff is great and the food is delicious. They do have wifi and cable tv. I had no problems with my room. The neighborhood was quite safe at night.

Review 51:I did not get the rooms I pre paid for. I was supposed to have 2 rooms with 2 double beds each, with balconies. and received 2 rooms with single beds, and no balconies. The staff didn't seem to care, and said that there was no price difference when I asked. If I were staying more than 1 night, I would have demanded to have what I booked

Review 52:restaurant and staff were excellent.

Review 53:Staff were very helpful, food was good and it had a wonderful local feel about it. Very central to the old town. Out side it appeared a bit rundown but inside it was lovely.

Review 54:no wifi in rooms

Review 55:The historic character of this hotel! The fact that it is a Guatemalan owned hotel.

Review 56:Occasional noisy events, poor wi fi service

Review 57:Clean, convenient, friendly staff, good food

Review 58:Location
