Reviews for Hostel Gaulverjaskóli
Review 1:Nothing to say.
Review 2:Great welcome by the staff, as well as breakfast. The room was clean, so was the bathrom. Breakfast with plenty of choice. If you want peace and quiet this is the place to be. Not many neighbours and very quiet road. Best if your GPS takes coordinates as they don't always take the place and street name easily.
Review 3:Very difficult to find, no signage. We were told there was no meal accommodations and the host did not offer any; however, when we packed to leave in the morning, we saw a sign that for a fee we could get breakfast there (which we would have done had we known. We think of a "guesthouse" as something along the lines of a B&B-this was a hostel-everything shared.
Review 4:Solitude and quiet
Review 5:This out of the way guest house was just lovely. The owner was so kind and was not upset that we arrived at 9 pm. Unfortunately we were not able to really fully enjoy the area as we had to leave early in the morning to drive to the airport. But our host kindly gave us a map and plotted the route for us to get to the airport on the coastal road that saved us a lot of time. Recommend.
Review 6:Lovely Landlady, spacious room, clean bathroom and everything you could possibly need to make your own breakfast and meals etc. Ideal base for south coast, Geysir, Gullfoss etc. Highly recommended. Would definitely stay again. THANK YOU!
Review 7:Internet sort of finished in the evening. The room for four was rather small.
Review 8:It was ok. The location nice and there was a place to do loundry what was something we really needed that day.
Review 9:We just finished a 2 week road trip around Iceland, and this was our favorite accommodation. It was spacious, clean, had the best shower, great wifi, phenomenal host, a huge kitchen to cook and eat in, and was in a fabulous location. The fact that a grocery store is 10 minutes away is an added bonus. This is THE ideal spot to stay in as you are passing through OR as a base for exploring the southwest/ south of the country. We regret not staying another night! The host is amazing and has a wealth of information about the area and is happy to share. She gave us directions to a waterfall we were unaware of and it was spectacular. I highly recommend this guesthouse!
Review 10:Range of WiFi is poor, but when in reach the speed is good
Review 11:The host was very friendly and gave lots of info on what to see and do. He even arranged a hostel for the next night! Kitchen was big with lots of gear Lounge area was nice
Review 12:The kitchen was well equipped.
Review 13:The hospitality of the host and the overall facilities.
Review 14:free wifi available just in the living room

Review 19:Host was terrific - enthusiastic, informative, friendly. Good breakfast Nice restaurant in Stokkseyri, about 15 minutes' drive.
Review 20:Very warm welcome and lovely personal tips from the host. Tasty breakfast with plenty of local specialties.
Review 21:room was great - warm and cosy, but still quite spacious, light & airy. Nice big bathroom and great kitchen / dining area. Our host was lovely, & gave us some helpful tips on the area.
Review 22:It may not be necessary but send an e-mail the day before to remind them you are arriving. The landlady was away when we got there and had forgotten we were coming, so we waited half an hour for the check in.
Review 23:The place is spectacular, surrounded by mountains but close to some beautiful villages on the sea. The landlady is very energetic, friendly and will give you excellent advices on where to go/eat. The kitchen is huge, with plenty of space to cook and seat. The rooms are confortable and clean. I strongly recommend this place.
Review 24:The negative part of the remoteness was it was a few miles drive to nearest conurbation which is Selfoss... but no probs if you have hired a vehicle.
Review 25:The owner is really friendly and very helpful and place very clean... plus a great place to see the Northern lights for the very first time as not encompassed by city/village street lights. That was a positive part of the remoteness :)
Review 26:Wifi was not the best it could be but this is Iceland and not the UK. It was slow but I still managed to answer all my emails and watch a video on Youtube.
Review 27:Had the whole place to myself but looked really good for groups to travel together. This was an ideal location near Selfoss and hence near to many attractions like Heckla, the Geysir, Thingvellir and Gullfoss, etc. Was great to be able to cook my own meal in the large kitchen house. Very easy distance from local cafe's, the sea, supermarkets and garage's etc.
Review 28:Nothing to complain about.
Review 29:Really great place and lovely, easy going couple who owns the place. Big and well equiped extra kitchen with wide view. Loved the athmosphere of the place. Nice living room area. We had a great stay!
Review 30:kitchen is a separate building, landlord who obviously forgot he is not a tecaher anymore and that he is talknig to 40 years old people, he should not treat tchem as children
Review 31:it was clean, the landlady was very flexible
Review 32:Booking.com need to provide better directions. Wifi only worked in a few areas of the building.
Review 33:Wonderful hostess ensured a good Icelandic experience, she had plenty of time to talk and is very knowedgeable about her country. Shared facilities but while the guesthouse was full we hardly saw anybody else. Quiet. Opportunity for countryside walks.
Review 34:We liked very much the landlord. She was always talking with us and she was very knowledgeable about tourist attractions in Iceland (she was a tourist guide before). Also the house is very clean.
