Reviews for Rifugio Belvedere
Review 1:A very special place, it feels like the people that run it truly love the refugio and those mountain. I almost don't want to talk about it because afraid it might become too popular.
Review 2:OK, so we didn't read the directions properly and didn't realise there's a climb involved. However, Eric does a wonderful job shuttling guests up the mountain and we walked down the next morning which was worth it for the wonderful views. The hotel is set on a magnificent spot with the Matterhorn in clear view. The rooms are more than comfortable and the restaurant produces food to die for! But what makes this hotel different is its splendid isolation and atmosphere - a very special evening, many thanks to Eric and his staff.
Review 3:This accommodation was more than we expected. Great location, great team unfortunately we Giacomo hardly speak because he always stood in the kitchen to prepare especcially and awsome menus for us. Price-performance ratio was unbeatable. Great wines. Sensational music of which we have taken some inspiration to take home. The ski area is just beautiful and offers so much more than the Austrian Arenen- especially freestyle options. More I do not want to write because I hope it remains a secret tip. We will be back!
Review 4:that we left... :(

Review 9:The food is beyond good, the place cool and funky. It's the best
Review 10:Bathroom facilities need updating badly It would be good to get a choice of food for evening meal.
Review 11:Beautiful location, great music , very friendly staff, good food.
Review 12:Niente.
Review 13:My friend Enrico and I spent 10 days in the Monterosa Ski Area and never had a dull moment exploring the ski tracks, enjoying tons of fresh snow, the panoramic view from Mont Blanc to the North Italian plain - and looking forward to Rifugio Belvedere in the evening, tired, hungry and thirsty, a condition which didn't last long due to brilliant hospitality of the Rifugio staff, refreshing drinks in front of the open fire, a hot shower or a short nap as well as the delicious dinners! Additionally: Fantastic views of the moutains, the villages in the valley below, the stars above, a very enjoyable remoteness... Make no mistake: This is a rifugio in the mountains, not a luxury wellness oasis - but if you look for great people, snow, mountains - you are spot-on. Special thanks to Giacomo, Francesco and Mattia for their tireless efforts to make this a memorable holiday!
Review 14:You can not trust these people. On our way to the hotel the owners phoned us to tell that our room was not available. They promised us a romantic room in another mountain hotel. We ended up in a room with 4 bunk beds and no mountain view.
Review 15:we came for only one night; we should have come for more days.
Review 16:The host. He is fantastic; kind, friendly and takes care of everything. The sights; this place is high and isolated and surrounded by high mountains. It is an excellent base for hiking. Getting up to the place includes a free Jeep ride (With an excellent driver) in alpine scenery; it was a great welcome to the place. The food; Dinner was very nice and the host can cook (and he is good cook as the food was great) wherever diet that is requested.
Review 17:Unfortunately during our stay ran rebuilding cottage and so there was a great noise. The room was small and old furnished, there is only a bed and a small wardrobe. There is no chair or table. The room was humid and on the wall behind the bed was mold
Review 18:The owner was friendly and helpful, from the cottage is a beautiful view of the valley The cottage can not be reached by car, the car is necessary to leave the parking in Champoluc and call to the refugio and the owner arrives by jeep. The food was great.
Review 19:Great place, excellent food, perfect for nature lovers. Soon the place will also become a small spa making it the best place to stay in, at SUMMER, on the alps. Giacomo and the staff are helpful and positive. Great place!! We had a great time and will definitely come back to this 2400 mt high home away from home.
Review 20:A real find! We stayed at the Belvedere as part of a four day ski break.Having flown in from London, we hired a car at Milan Malpensa and droveto Champoluc. Our flight times were such that we only arrived in thevillage around 10:45 pm, so we had to wait for the last Gondola up tothe Crest mid station. Giacomo (the owner) was very accommodating andcame to meet us on the Skidoo at 11:30 at night! The ride up to theBelvedere in the dark with luggage and ski’s was a blast. We awoke the next morning to be greeted by the most spectacular mountain views with snow everywhere. The first thing that hits you us just how quiet the mountain is, early in the morning - simply stunning. Rifugio Belvedere is run and managed by Francesco and his team of willing helpers, including Angelo the chef. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble. They even sorted out our ski passes which saved us the hassle of going back down into Champoluc. Everything you read about the food and service is absolutely true. Highly recommended.
Review 21:Amazing ambience and a gourmet food experience. Staff is personal and attentive and clearly do what they do out of passion! Me and my daughter spent four fabulous days and are most definitely coming back!
Review 22:Great place. Such enthusiastic owners/staff. Great for skiing as you are half way up the mountain. Really good food in the evening. Excellent value for money and an experience.
Review 23:I didn't realize that due to the location of the hotel (the top of the mountains) it will be extremely hard to arrange trips downtown - if you want to have a walk or a dinner downtown, it does cost you quite a lot of money. So if you are staying in the hotel for a week and you haven't planned this, it is a little bit uncomfortable. And I did miss hair dryer - I never take one with me as I expect a hotel to have one for me.
Review 24:It is an absolutely great place to get out of regular routine: the hotel is on the very top of the mountains, so you can leave all the problems aside and spend a week (that's what we did) just on skiis in wild nature. The guys of the Refeldere staff were wonderful: they would support you with everything that you need. And they do have taste for music: the music styles varied so much, and they were always adopted to the time of the day. There were many table games around, so we spent our evenings playing cards in the restorant and enjoying delicious Italian kitchen. And even though I couldn't believe it, they do keep promises: I asked for a particular dessert to be included into dinner, and they did make - specially for me! Trust me: these guys know how to make the place the most popular one in the mountains:)
Review 25:It would be nice to have more choice at breakfast but saying that, itwas not a problem at all and still very nice. The coffee is great.
Review 26:Francesco who seems to manage the hotel is fantastic. He is so friendlyand nothing is too much trouble. All of the staff were really lovelyalso. The food is the highlight here. We were treated to four courseseach night of really interesting Italian food. A lot of thought goesinto the cooking. The rooms are basic but really clean and the bed wasvery comfortable. The après ski happens here and we had a lot of fun. Itis a lively place.
Review 27:Nothing!
Review 28:Warm welcome from all the staff and their friendly helpful attitude throughout our stay. The freshly prepared food and home baked cakes and bread. The location and panoramic views. The range of skiing. The snow cat rides when the lifts closed.
Review 29:Myself and my husband met in the refuge 16 years ago and as ananniversary present my husband decided to book to go there ! Well what alovely surprise! The refuge changed hands since then and it has improvedso much, the food is all made from scratch, all the bread, the cakes, the burgers and its top quality ! The bedrooms are cosy , clean and warmand don't forget the staff which is absolutely brilliant and veryfriendly ! I would definitely recommend it to anybody. Best anniversarypresent ever !
Review 30:We liked everything about Rifugio Belvedere! And we plan to come back.
Review 31:We visited for Christmas holidays.Wonderful, amazing location high in the mountains - no cars, fresh air, splendid views. Plenty of snow in winter. Be aware you can only get there by gondola and skis/snow shoes or be picked up by snowmobile from the Crest gondola station. It is a great place for ski vacation, we bet it is also very nice in summer. Freeriders and ski tourers find a lot to do there, as do piste lovers. The location is cosy (just a few rooms) and romantic with wood and stone, built in a traditional style but with modern comforts at an altitude of 2400 m! Extremely friendly and helpful stuff - they take pleasure in fullfilling even the most unreasonable requests and are happy to give advice about local activities. Rooms are simple, clean and warm, and the bathrooms always have hot water. There is even a room to warm your ski/hiking boots in! The food is fantastic - fresh local ingredients perfectly prepared, fine wines from an extensive wine cellar. Breakfast often includes not only yoghurt, muesli and fresh fruit but also homemade breads and cakes - lovely! You can even get cheese and ham if you're not into sweets. As vegetarians we were very happy to be provided with vegetarian alternatives to the meat dishes in the nightly 4 course menu. From the looks of it, the carnivores also had plenty to be happy about. Lunch is à la carte, dinner is a set menu every night - within 10 days we never ate the same dish twice - and all of it was delicious. We thought that both the hotel and the Monte Rosa Ski Area were a very good value for money in comparison to alternatives in the area. Highly recommended!
Review 32:Not easy to be reached (via cable car and shuttle service)

Review 34:Not very easy to contact through phone and email!
Review 35:The staff and the owner was very nice and helpful. Food gourmetstyle!
