Reviews for Hotellerie De Mascognaz
Review 1:Stunning location, easy access to hiking and biking, authentic 15 th century buildings refurbished with modern amenities. A relaxing and clarifying experience for body and mind.
Review 2:Lovely staff. Great food. Perfect relaxing atmosphere. My wife and I went for 3 days to just get away from the hustle and bustle and was just what we needed. Will definitely be returning.
Review 3:Ride with the snowmobile
Review 4:The other side of the isolation "coin" is that this would not suit those who like a stroll in the village after dinner, or a visit to a local bar. Given the 15 minute often bumpy 'ratrac' ride up to the hotel, neither of these was a realistic option, despite the hotel's (genuine) offer of a 24-hour service up and down the hill. You needed to take some care with the snow, since conditions when we were there were icy, and the paths to and from reception and restaurants were slippy, resulting in some painful falls. It would not suit the very elderly, or those with a fragile sense of balance.
Review 5:The quality of service was impeccably professional and charming, with a warm welcome, and always helpful. The isolated location, some 3k along a winding snow-covered track up the mountain and through the trees, ensured peace and quiet, though the trip rarely took less than 15 minutes. This is a rebuilt, once deserted hamlet, which was a retreat for artists and poets, abandoned a century ago, and lovingly re-created, sensitively using old materials, wood and stone. It really is a stunningly memorable place, with great character. But this would not suit people whose only hotel experience is the Four Seasons chain. It's rather for lovers of high quality hotels with real personality. Excellent spa facilities, a short, well-lit walk from the main hotel, and a restaurant in which the cuisine was good, though a little quirky. First-rate breakfast. Wonderful to enjoy large open wood fires in the bar/reception at night.
Review 6:hotel should tell you in advance that you need good snow shoes to get to dinner each night. hotel should advise that this is not a hotel for children or for older people in winter unable to negotiate ice / snow or unwilling to walk a considerable distance in rain/wind/snow etc each night for dinner. Our room (200) was across the valley so above 2 points are essential to know beforehand. You need to arrange / wait for transport to & from hotel each morning & evening to slopes. You should be told it can take TIME to arrange, especially if a vehicle is out of service as this is the only way up & down. Our room (200) was on 3 floors with 2 sets of stpes. NOT a real problem for us but could be for older / physically challenged. Again should be told. Storage space in this room is very inconvenient. No hangers on 1st (or even 2nd level to leave coats/ski suits, which could be wet). Only hanging space is on 3rd floor & you can't get dressed there as low ceiling does not allow space. Bed in this room is dangerous as 1 person must crawl around the bed, under big low beams to enter the bed. Other person can access bed but needs care rising as sloping ceiling can damage the brains each time. Super bright lights in dining room each night just destroy the whole romantic experience that is everywhere else in hotel:change them , dim them or smash them please. TV: what about English language satellite for UK & Scandinavians? only Italian or French TV available
Review 7:Romantic location in a restored Alpine hamlet Beautiful snowy setting 3.5 km up a track. Fabulous views. Wonderful fireplace in reception area. Excellent food each night. Lovely staff: nothing too much trouble. (sometimes not easy for them due to location). WiFi :good. A very different overall experience from anything we have ever done so far. Well done Mascognaz.
Review 8:Not particularly easy to find the parking lot at night (needs a light on sign).
Review 9:Loved the friendly staff and accommodations. Not your average hotel and will definitely be back! Perfect for getting away from it all and feeling truly special.
Review 10:People should be aware of the fact that it takes about 15minutes with asnow scooter to get to the hotel which might be tough for some people. We loved it though!Negative was the very very loud Italian guests in the spa. Apparently they seem to compare a spa with an amusement parc!
Review 11:Great hotel! A very interesting experience to have to get to the hotelby snow scooter...but fun. Would not be able to do it much longer then 4days though as its a bit tough going up and down like that. Excellentfood, staff, beautiful hotel room and great spa! Beautiful location in asmall mountain village and can imagine its great hiking possibilitiesduring the summer. I can definitely recommend this hotel!
Review 12:We spend 7 days in romantic Masconaz. We found the place through the Internet and we were possitvely surprised! Wow! The place is amazing, lovely clean rooms, beautiful scenery. The recently build spa and indoor pool is excellent! Both, breakfast and dinner was very good. Especially the dinner, excellent food and perfect represented. Every plate a nice surprise. Served by charming Carla and perfect Vito. Thanks to Michel and to the hotel staff, they were excellent. A special thanks to Maurizio and all the others ! Tobias and Mafalda
Review 13:One have to take a 10 minute skidoo ride to get to the hotel. For us that was ok. However, this means that one typically will (have to) stay at the hotel at the evenings.
Review 14:Hotellerie De Mascognaz is a beautiful place located up in the mountain side. The hotel consist of renovated old village buildings and this gives it a romantic charm. The newly build spa and indoor pool is excellent! Both breakfast and dinner was very good. Really a hotel that gives you a different experience!
Review 15:Amazing place - very romantic and secluded. Lovely room, excellent spa facilities and fantastic 4 course evening meals. Cosy and warm - beautiful scenery. The skidoo rides to and from were great fun! The hotel staff were excellent - I couldn't fault anything. Highly recommended.
Review 16:Contacts with the reception(which is not the real mascognaz but a centralised one managing different hotels) was very slow and unhelpful
Review 17:location is magnificent (a restructured mountain village) ambiance Good breakfast swimming pool and spa very relaxing with a lot of nice walks, Do not indulge in treated water. Hotel has his own sources with high mountain and tasty waters.
Review 18:Being moved following the closing of the access road to the hotel.
