Review 1：There's nothing to do in Selfoss.

Review 2：Staff was great! Super friendly which was great after a long day--we ate dinner and watched a movie together. Great showers, nice warm beds.

Review 3：We booked a triple room for 1 night. Location is great - just off the main road. The owner was super friendly and helpful. Showers are great - super clean. We had one just in front of our door - basically ensuite. There's a huge kitchen with kettle, fridge etc. and cosy lounge to chill out. One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at!

Review 4：Place is difficult to find as there are no signs saying Selfoss Hostel, were it not for HI sign we would have missed the place on the 3rd drive by. Checkin is from 5-6 however when we arrived at 5 there was nobody there. We used the intercom which connected to someone's cell phone who told us someone will be there shortly. Someone came but all they did is change the cell fwd to another number and told us some one is coming. After waiting for another 15 minutes we used the intercom again and were told someone is on their way, 10 minutes later someone did show up to check us in, telling us the regular person was sick and checked us in at 6. For a place that only has 1 hour checkin window that should have been more organized. When we left in the morning we discovered that the rain the night before had turned the sidewalk in front of the hostel into a skating ring. I understand Icelanders have an aversion to salting or sanding the sidewalks but it can not be good for business to have someone break their leg in front of your business.

Review 9：Very friendly staff, great decor. Kitchen and shared bathroom facilities are very clean and warm. A lot of effort has been put into the decor which gives the place great character. Close to shops, restaurants and fast food establishments.

Review 10：Selfoss itself doesn't have too much to offer... 1 Main Street,not a lot to do but it's good for a nice walk :)

Review 14：There were no duvet covers on the duvets. We think you had to pay for them and there was some misc dirt on one of the duvets. Also, our key was difficult to use, but in time we figured out that we needed to pull the door towards us while putting in the key.

Review 21：Friendly staff. Allowed us to leave 2 pieces of luggage while we did a a 5 days hike. Very well situated if you wish to catch coach to Reykjavik, or going further east along the south coast.

Review 36：Good location close to a lake where you can enjoy the view of the midnight sun. However there isn't much to do in Selfoss itself. The kitchen of the hostel is nice, there are places for people to leave products they don't need anymore after their stay, so we could find some tuna fish for our spaghetti :) Note that the actual kitchen is downstairs, we accidentally entered the staff kitchen since the door was open :)

Review 37：Room was spacious, linens were very clean, beds were comfortable. Kitchen is nice and big with everything you need as a traveling group. We were looking forward to using the hot tub which was actually empty :(.

Review 39：My entire stay here was awesome. Manager Viktor was so nice and welcoming. After checking anyone in he'd make a note of your name and greet you by first name. It was very personable. The facilities were comfortable and clean. I really enjoyed the location because it is right off the main road, close to a supermarket, and a short distance from golden circle destinations. I didn't utilize the hot tub but I did make full use of the guest kitchen which was well equipped. Will def stay there if ever in Selfoss again.

Review 40：I spent two nights there. A good place by the main road. The hostel manager was very helpful when I lost my credit card the previous day in VÍk. He called almost everybody there and helped to find the card.

Review 41：The building insulation and the heating system need some improvements. I stayed in winter and the room was freezing at night. Especially with the heavy wind going on in Selfoss.

Review 42：The staff were very friendly and helpful. One of the guys drove me - I didn't ask to - to the bus terminal in the morning so I didn't have to drag my heavy suitcase across the icy pavements. The duvets were amazing.

Review 43：The host man was really great. The hostel was thoughtfully considered with his cares , I could find them in every single thing. I didn't expect that much when I checked the information about the hostel on the internet but it was great to stay. There're beautiful unique bathrooms , all designs of the interior were consist with his love. The room was cozy and clean, the kitchen was efficient. It was absolutely worth staying. Hope that he post more photos of the hostel so that people know about its charming.

Review 56：There was confusion with my booking and, apparently, it happens frequently with Booking.com. I suggest to follow up with them via email after booking on this website. Lack of staff was an issue. There was only one young women who was multi-tasking and never to be found. She ran the front desk, cleaned, prepared the breakfast, did the laundry etc. As a frequent traveler to Iceland I was able to help answer questions that six different travelers had one morning when I was sitting by the front desk (where is the bank? where is the bus? what is the bus schedule? etc). I felt badly for the one young woman running the whole place.

Review 57：I stayed here for two nights in a single room with shared bathroom. Price was very good. Location is good and bus pickup, pool, grocery stores are all very close.

The rooms were stuffy so needed the window open for air, however it was very noisy both late and early with people outside. Also, smoke from the smokers came in the window. Recommend requesting a room either on a higher floor or away from the smoking/sitting area.
