Reviews for Lambastadir Guesthouse

Review 1:Very clean facility, no TV but its Iceland, so many beautiful things to see outside! The staff were very nice, location perfect. I will definitely stay again when coming back to Iceland.

Review 2:the extra bed was not so comfortable

Review 3:The staff were very nice, gave us a lots of information. Very clean facility, excellent place for seeing the northern lights.

Review 4:None

Review 5:Wow everything!! The place was cute and perfect including the couple managing it. They are very friendly and will help you with planning as well if you engage them. we even managed to see the northern lights here. The place is away from city light pollution. Its actually 10 min drive from selfoss The hot tub was an added bonus.

Review 6:Room didn't have temperature control and it was cold on one of the nights.

Review 7:Good spot outside of Reykjavik but close to Selfoss if you need markets and restaurants. Clean. Super friendly and helpful host. Handy guide available inside the room. Excellent breakfast with a lot of selection.

Review 8:You need a car to get to the nearest town, Sellfoss, for example to go to a restaurant in the evening.

Review 9:Very cute guesthouse, conveniently located at the route 1. The breakfast is plentifull, and the sauna and hot tub in the back looked great (unfortunately we couldn't try them during our stay - we ran out of time!) The host are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic, clean and comfortable. We were stuck there because of a snow storm and they were very helpful and made sure we were safe and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the boardgames and all the information they had on Iceland.

Review 10:We stayed here for our last 2 nights in Iceland at the end of October. Great location as there are many attractions around. The owners are super friendly and really make sure you have a great stay. They are there during breakfast to make sure everything is stocked and available. They even notified us when the northern lights were out. The place was very homey end nicely decorated. WiFi worked well both in the eating area and bedroom. We had a wonderful stay here.

Review 11:The room was a bit cold; however, slept very well!

Review 12:Small but excellent guesthouse few kilometres from the town of Selfoss. The hot tub and sauna were super relaxing. The breakfast was also amazing and tasty! Good location when traveling the Golden Circle or to the Southern Iceland.

Review 13:Without a rental car getting around may be difficult.

Review 14:Almar and Svanhvit are wonderful. Very nice hosts. Almar helped me when I was trying to see Northern Lights. He showed me a weather and cloud forecast and gave me several other tips. Breakfast was good! We enjoyed our food while eyeing a beautiful sunrise. The feeling to enjoy a sauna and hot tub under the stars while it is freezing outside is a remarkable memory for me.

Review 15:It's a little difficult to find - especially if arriving at night (like we did). Make sure you have good GPS or print off your directions in advance. It is not in Selfoss the town it is about 10 mins drive east of the Selfoss town.

Review 16:We really liked this Guesthouse - the people are lovely. The rooms are warm, comfortable and very nicely styled/decorated... and I love animals so being on a farm was really great :)

Review 17:The host was very friendly telling us which direction to look for the northern lights and the rough time! Because of this we got to see them! He also gave us a map of our journey with extra places to see along the way.

Review 18:Nothing at all.

Review 19:Enjoyed every minutes of it, wonderful host who asked us what is our plan for the day and they even suggest to visit other places we hadn't thought. Saw the Northern light on our first and third nights which were so amazing. I would recommend anyone to stay there.

Review 20:Nothing!

Review 21:This was one of the best nights of our trip! The couple who runs the guesthouse are so kind and helpful - the proprietor even helped us with our camera settings to get the best pictures of the Northern Lights since we had never photographed them before. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and there were even a hot tub and sauna to relax after a long day of driving. The included breakfast was also delicious and much appreciated!

Review 22:Nothing

Review 23:Lovely hosts. The room was spotless and extremely cozy. The farm animals were an absolute delight! Amazing experience, will definitely stay again:)

Review 24:Wonderful hosts, beautiful accommodations, delicious breakfast, hot tub and sauna...what more could you ask for? Definitely worth your time and money when visiting Southern Iceland!!!

Review 25:The entrance is a little bit difficult to find

Review 26:everything. friendly staff, clean room, useful travel guide in room. The best part is: we saw aurora at this night!

Review 27:Very clean, simply furnished well managed guesthouse in good location for trips to golden circle or south coast attractions. Breakfast was very good. The owners were friendly and helpful.

Review 28:Everything! The owners were so incredibly nice and interacted with the guests like we were visiting their home (which we kind of were since it is located on their farm). They let us know that there was a likelihood that we would see Northern Lights that night so we knew to go outside at the right time! Sure enough! we saw them and the owner even came out to tell us a little about the Northern Lights and turn off the farm's external lights so we could see them better! They had a fabulous sauna and "hot pot" on site, the building is very "green" with geo thermal heating and hydroelectric power - incredible value for the money - the cheapest place we stayed and one of the best experiences - building had 15? rooms and was fully booked, but we never heard any noise from any other guests - We highly recommend this spot - definitely engage with the owners - so nice and friendly.....

Review 29:Everything was perfect.

Review 30:Nice hot tub, big rooms with comfortable beds, great breakfast with waffles! Nice hosts, they are very kind and let us know when the northern lights appeared in the sky!

Review 31:This place was really cute, easy to find, the people that own it were very friendly and breakfast the next day was delicious. They have waffles and homemade jam!

Review 32:Thin walls and could hear someone in the next room snoring the whole night

Review 33:Friendly owners, very clean, excellent breakfast, easy to locate, near petrol kiosk

Review 34:The staff went out of their way to accommodate us quite a bit early due to extremely poor weather conditions. The room was comfortable, and breakfast was very good, plentiful, and very appreciated. I'm writing the next part in effort to educate inexperienced European guesthouse travelers like myself as well as send a sincere apology to the owners and staff. I would like to apologize to the owners and staff for my ignorance of the European custom to remove my shoes upon entering (I will do this from now on as I did the following morning), I did not do this on the first day, but quickly learned upon returning that evening that other guests had removed their shoes. The owners noticed my shoes on, yet nobody said a word. Thank you all for a wonderful stay. If I return to Iceland, I will be sure to book with you again... and I'll take my shoes off this time :)

Review 35:The wifi is a bit slow.

Review 36:The hot tub is good and the breakfast is great. The location is a bit far and not that easy to find but is a great place for seeing the northen light.

Review 37:Brilliant place, with very kind people! Enjoyed the hot tub as well! Location was perfect for day trips! We loved every minute of our stay, we would come back definitely!

Review 38:Breakfast is good and there is a variety of bread, cheese, ham and fruit to select from. Don't expect anything hot (e.g. scrambled eggs) though.

Review 39:Friendly family runs this guesthouse and farm. In the morning you hear happy ducks and geese chatter under your window. The town of Selfoss is near with shops, pharmacy and petrol station.

Review 40:Absolutely nothing. Just great.

Review 41:Friendly staff, great views, close to the town and a great breakfast. The owner is interested in your travel plans and will gladly give you good hints.

Review 42:That eventually we had to leave and move on ..

Review 43:Out of all places we stayed at during our 2 week vacation in Iceland, this place was absolutely our favorite, such that my wife and I kept telling to each other how perfect it was. The ambiance of the stay is of family/farm/countryside - exactly what we were looking for and yet - only 8 minute driving from the town of Selfoss which provides all services one might need (restaurants for the evening/fuel for the car etc), and it is all less than an hour from Reykjavik - if you drive from there. It will fit by 100% your itinerary if you are looking for a place to stay after completing the Golden Circle day tour with your rented car and before continuing to the waterfalls/Vik/Skaftafell. The place was very clean and the breakfast was very good and diverse! And the same dining room you can make yourself a coffee or tea in the evening, and there is a little common area with some books/magazines. Family feel like I said. Atop of all I would like to mention Almar the owner who was very friendly and welcoming (his whole family actually) and deserves all the credit for his gorgeous place.

Review 44:Typical small room with little furniture had my wife and I stepping over one another and our stuff - common throughout Iceland, so not a big complaint.

Review 45:Location was great at the end of our ring road tour and to do the Golden Circle before flying back home. Were able to see Northern lights from the property, enjoyed the fresh waffles, and found the room comfortable, the owners friendly and the convenience of a short drive to Selfoss all very favorable.

Review 46:Everyone seemed to go to breakfast at the same time and consequently it was busy. Perhaps breakfast could start earlier?

Review 47:Rooms very comfortable, lovely warm, cosy duvets, great shower.

Review 48:This family seems to love running a guesthouse. The facilities are very well kept, and I think anyone would have a hard time getting as much value for the reasonable price (good clean bed, private bathroom, hot tub, sauna, farm to explore, good breakfast with fresh fruit, etc.). It was a lovely one night stop before departing Iceland that exceeded my expectations, and I'll be back. 5/5

Review 49:It's 5 mins from the town and needs to go out for restaurants.

Review 50:The hosts are really kind and can tell that they've put a lot efforts on this guesthouse. The outdoor hottub and sauna is really amazing.

Review 51:A hair dryer in the room would be useful. Sound isolation between the rooms isn't perfect

Review 52:In this hotel you can feel the devotion to the family history through old family photos and words from famous songs written on the walls. You can see that this hotel means much more for the owners than simple business. Rooms are super clean, comfortable, with good beds, spacious bathroom. In the breakfast hall at any time there's hot water for tea or coffee, jam and milk.Besides outside there's a hot tub and sauna.

Review 53:no hairdryer in room but booklet in room advised to ask and this was provided on request.

Review 54:Easy access to Selfoss & restaurants. Perfect stop off for the Golden Circle. Beautiful location. Very useful information booklet in the room. Excellent breakfast and warm friendly atmosphere.

Review 55:The owners of Lambastadir have made a lot of thought and extra effort in place to make their guest house something special. We loved the hot tub and sauna, our comfortable room, the amazing breakfast and all the other extra touches to help guests. The owners provide lots of interesting literal information about Iceland and they also gave us advice about travelling to different places. I would highly recommend this guest house.

Review 56:Our hosts were so gracious, helpful and laid back. Had great suggestions for local restaurants and things to do in the area. Loved seeing the pets and ducks roaming the farm. Rooms were new, clean and comfortable. Nice breakfast. Wished we could have stayed to enjoy the hot tub and sauna.

Review 57:Our host, Svanhvit, was wonderful. She made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was delicious and in a relaxed setting. Room was very nice with an ultramodern bath. There was a very nice book in each room, made by the owners, of day trips to interesting sites in south Iceland.

Review 58:Everything was clean and neat. Staffs were very kind. Hot tub and sauna outdoors were above my expectation. Locations and breakfast were good as well. 밖에서 볼땐 ??인데 들어가면 !! 완전 깨끗하고 호텔 같아요~ 가족이 운영하는데 다들 친절하시고 조식도 맛있어요. 저녁에 있는 쿠키도 맛있었어요!

Review 59:No complaints...even nice people to chat with at breakfast

Review 60:Newly developed building well thought out by the owner who paid attention to details. Location is a good point of departure for the Golden Circle.

Review 61:Friendly owner of the guesthouse. Willing to give interesting tips to visit! He makes sure that you have a room to overnight at your next destination.

Review 62:nothing to complain about

Review 63:The guesthouse is set in a farm and you can't help but notice all the animals when arriving. The rooms are new, so everything works fine. Very good breakfast. The owner help us out on planning our way south-east, that was really appreciated!

Review 64:This was a wonderful place to stay. The room was small but very nice and very clean. The breakfast was great and the location is perfect for exploring the southwest area of iceland. Easy day trips for exploring the area.

Review 65:we enjoyed talking with the owners, both very nice and lively people. The guesthouse is on a working farm and we were invited to enjoy the barn where they were having lots of new lambs. The owners had a great tour book ready for everyone who stayed to help with sightseeing trips.

Review 66:Asked not to put the suitcases on the bed, but no luggage racks

Review 67:Good location close to the Golden Circle, quiet even when all the rooms are booked, good suggestions for dinner and touring the area

Review 68:Really welcoming atmosphere, quiet, lovely animals to see. Fantastic homemade jam for breakfast, bed superb - I could go on and on, first class in every way.

Review 69:Nothing. It was prefect.

Review 70:Best place we stayed in Iceland. The room was clean and comfortable. Although we did not use the hot tub, it was conveniently located and clean. When we checked in, there were freshly baked cookies located in the dining area along with tea and coffee. The breakfast was delicious. After our breakfast, the owner obliged us by taking us on a short tour of the farm and showing us the newborn lambs. We stayed here after touring the golden circle and prior to heading towards the south coast. The owners provided some helpful tips on places to explore.

Review 71:The location of those guesthouse was perfect for a return from the southeast coast traveling to the Reykjaenes Peninsula. The house is clean, quiet and the hosts had a wonderful breakfast in the morning. They also were very helpful in planning our trip in the area with maps and ideas of places we should see.

Review 74:The friendliness of the owners who could not have been more kind. The photos on the walls are superb and I also like the fact that I am not paying for things like a flat screen TV in the bedroom - what you do get is a very comfortable, warm, clean room with a private bathroom on a working farm run by kind and friendly owners.

Review 75:Staying there only one night!

Review 76:We stayed at 2 others guesthouses in Iceland and Lambastadir is by far the best. This is for me the perfect example of guesthouse where the owners care about their guests and want to provide the best experience - so a real pleasure to stay there. The place was extremely clean. We enjoyed the hot tub during a fantastic sunset - felt like a paradise on earth. If you wanted to see northern lights, which happened on that night, he owner came and called you so that you don't miss them. A guide with day-tours from the guesthouse was available in the room, it was very helpful for our next leg of the journey. Breakfast was great and home made waffles were delicious!

Review 77:The owner of the guesthouse was very welcoming and showed me some places around to go and things to do. The room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast is incredible!

Review 78:We missed the northern lights on the night we stayed there, it came up for 15 min while we were eating in Selfoss.

Review 79:Very friendly owners, nice basic hotel, but clean, cozy and a nice atmosphere. Hotel is outside the light pollution, good for northern lights.

Review 80:Room was a bit small as we had stuff to dry due to the poor weather and the hot tub. Could do with a drying area

Review 81:Very comfortable beds and gorgeous breakfast, especially the waffles and jam. Hot tub was good but wind was biting

Review 82:Our room was the closest to the dining area. We could hear people talking in our room.

Review 83:Best breakfast we had. Make it yourself waffle, homemade exotic jams. They had a farm outside, and we took so many pictures with their horses.

Review 84:The owner did everything for us to see the Northern lights and we had the great luck!!!! The breakfast was great. Very polite people and the surrounding area is lovely. The commendation was to go to the nearby Krus Cafe for dinner and this was fantastic. Great place to see many sights.

Review 85:I don't even know where to start... The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in, the breakfast excellent and the owners some of the nicest people you will ever meet! Oh and we loved the hot tub too! Will definitely be back! :)

Review 86:We liked everything.

Review 87:Almar and his wife were really helpful giving us tips for places to visit and feeding us really tasty breakfast. We truly enjoyed our stay at this guesthouse.

Review 88:Fantastic guesthouse! The owners were so helpful and couldn't have done more for us. They also gave us lots of excellent advice for our day trips. We had a great display of the northern lights one night. Got freezing cold standing outside taking photos so it was lovely to jump into the geothermal hot tub to warm up and still be able to gaze up at the lights! Would highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone travelling to Iceland.

Review 89:Being mega picky, It needs more visible indication/banner when you approach the entrance road to the guesthouse.

Review 90:This is an awesome guesthouse in Iceland compared to others. Our stay at this guesthouse made out trip even better. Very clean, comfy beds, superb breakfast, beautiful landscapes and kind landlords.

Review 91:The beds are comfortable, the rooms are nicely decorated, there's a common room for socializing/eating delicious free breakfast, there's a hot tub out back and a covered porch out front where you can stay warm while you wait for the aurora. Stay here!

Review 98:* Some might miss not having a TV; we didn't.

Review 99:* Guest house was new, modern, homey and very comfortable and clean * Very peaceful location * Included breakfast very nice....nice strong coffee * Owners very nice * Do ask to see their sheep * Their ducks will welcome you in the morning, but you won't hear them...very cute

Review 100:Nice little family-run farm, with lovely guesthouse and great people. Very clean and very well taken care of. Nice fresh breakfast, tasty home-made goodies. Very good internet connection. Extremely nice and helpful owners: ask them for advice, talk to them about history of the farm and enjoy their hospitality! Location is excellent if you want to explore south Iceland (Golden circle, Vik, glaciers, Reykjavik...)

Review 101:We felt very welcome and our host gave us lots of useful info on the local area. Great location for exploring the Golden Circle and great value with breakfast, wifi, nice showers, a comfy bed and a hot tub.

Review 102:A bit far from the center, where you can get groceries and go to the restaurants. You need a car.

Review 103:Jacuzzi, very clean, nice brekfast, nice host, good sized room.

Review 104:Comfortable, clean, spacious rooms and a very nice spread for breakfast. There were also hot drinks and cookies when we arrived late in the evening. The owners were very helpful in planning our activities for the following day.

Review 105:A bit cold in the room, but the bed blankets were warm enough so it helped.

Review 106:Friendly owner and animals. We had very comfortable sleep after a beautiful Aurora Borealis night there and delicious breakfast in the morning with a beautiful view.

Review 107:Everything! The owners were so welcoming and helpful. The purpose-built guesthouse was spotless and had a lovely geothermal hot tub outside. Breakfast was delicious! It's a pity we couldn't stay another night as we'd have loved to.

Review 108:Very cozy place. Clean and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Love the farm. And love the pancake machine!! The only one we've seen in all the accommodations we stayed in Iceland.

Review 109:Finally after waiting for 48 years: I saw the northern lights, thanks to the manager alerting me after midnight. Very helpful also with planning trips, with good recommendations not seen/found in "Lonely Planet" guide. Room and breakfast perfect.

Review 110:This was our favorite stay during our 8 night trip to Iceland. Very clean rooms and very friendly owners. The hot tub is a great place to sit and watch the Northern Lights and the breakfast was great. We especially loved the homemade waffle mix and rhubarb jam. Almar is a wonderful host and pointed us to a great lobster restaurant and marked up a map with a few spots for us to see on our trip. We would definitely stay here again.

Review 111:Technically not in Selfoss, so you need to do a little work to find where to turn. Once you are on the right road, though, there is a large sign.

Review 112:Extremely friendly and helpful service. Good continental breakfast provided. Modern facilities. Well-maintained hot tub in the back with an excellent view. Very close to town amenities and a nearby waterfall.

Review 113:- It would be nice to have a view from the hot tub to the surrounding area

Review 114:- Hot tub - Feels like home - Excellent quality of breakfast - The farm animals - Nice owners - Good suggestions for what to do in Iceland - A booklet in the room with suggested itineraries and day trips around the guesthouse

Review 115:Nice, new clean building. Enjoyed the farm animals wandering around. Geothermal hot-tub was great place to watch sunset. Good breakfast, lots of choice. Posters of local history on the walls.
