Reviews for Lilianfels Blue Mountains Resort & Spa
Review 1:Price may be a little on the high side but you get what you pay for.
Review 2:The staff made our 40th anniversary stay very memorable. Very friendly and exceptionally helpful. Food and service brilliant. Thank you Terri, Babara and colleagues.
Review 3:The price of the cocktails, limited chardony on the menu. The chap telling me as i booked into the restaurant even if i did not show my room would be charged the fixed meal weekend cost.
Review 4:The property was fantastic, our room was a delight the staff were very helpful.
Review 5:Darlys is great but THEhotel food really went down hill the last 5 years so much so that we leave the hotel to eat except for darlys. From the hot chips to the ice cream in the shakes the quality is no longer what it was. Also the men's sauna steam and hot tub are all kept too cold to enjoy. The outdoor pool had no heat at all and the bushes have overgrown so much you can now longer lay out by the outside pool and see the mountains. Our family has come every year and some times few times a year since 2001 so we do love the place and have photos of our kids growing up in it but this last change of ownership as dipped the ball on some things. I mean loved the log fires but understand that change so I'm just passing on thoughts.
Review 6:Great staff great place
Review 7:A little short staffed at the time we were there so the service was moderately slow, especially at dinner. Ducks around the pool were very cute, not so much the droppings in the pool. Didn't venture in for that reason.
Review 8:Very impressed with the facilities; the room was clean and what you would hope for given the Resort's reputation and the staff were extremely courteous and helpful at all times. We enjoyed our stay enormously and will certainly return at some stage in the near future.
Review 9:-Limited parking space but cars there were parked unorderly. It's very difficult to get a spot. It feels like encouraging people to pay 15 for valet parking. -Uncomfortable bed. Pillows are like folded tshirt, very thin and empty. -Disgusting dishes! I picked 3 fresh plates in breakfast buffet. ALL the bottoms of these 3 plates are sticked with food residue!! -VERY Long waiting for the dinner serving. Waiters and waitresses are too busy to serve guests in a proper way. - Uncomfortable shower. Water comes unstably. - Poor Internet speed. - It's not luxury at all. Can't see which point could make it reach this high score at booking.com. Can't believe it worth 375 just for a standard King room!
Review 10:-Decorations in the room
Review 11:The facilities were good if not very good however, the condition of the facilities were a little tired. Curtains in the room were falling off rail, not closing properly etc. I don't mind paying premium prices but the facilities also need to be in premium condition.
Review 12:Great location overlooking Echo Point. Lovely pool including local residents (ducks) and good bar.
Review 13:The location is wonderful being so close to the three sisters. The large lounge area was full of comfortable chairs and conscientious wait staff. Our room was so so quiet! I loved the gardens and pine forest!
Review 14:I was a slightly disappointed on arrival as I was under the impression there would be a double spa bath in the room, rather than a normal bath, and only as I was looking forward to it. This didn't detract from our stay though!
Review 15:The cleanliness, facilities, friendly staff, excellent food all contributed to an amazing stay
Review 16:-Stain on the blanket -Dirty marks in the bathroom -Limited parking. If you want a guaranteed a spot, you have to pay -Coffee at breakfast was free but bad. If you want a good coffee like a cappuchino, you pay.
Review 17:-Really close to the Three Sisters. -Staff were very kind -Breakfast was pretty good. -Good view -Bed was comfortable
Review 18:Swimming pools fantastic. Gym not a great standard and dirty/messy around this building. Staff at breakfast mixed - one female was absolutely brilliant but one young guy was hopeless.
Review 19:I had a question to ask on Tuesday morning at reception. The staff member, a young woman, was busy with another guest. After he left she attended to a couple who had just arrived at the desk and were checking out, even though I had been waiting for 5-6 minutes already. This behaviour was completely at odds with all the other excellent service we had received.
Review 20:The room decor was lovely and the public areas were attractive and welcoming. Darleys restaurant served one of the best meals we have ever eaten. Attention to detail and quality was superb. Our server, Ashe, was the best we have encountered, friendly, polite and attentive.
Review 21:The Hotel was excellent! Staff, especially Kyle who was more than willing to assist us with our dinner booking and transport to the Hydro, were exceptional!
Review 22:I thought the deluxe high tea was a little pricey but still enjoyed every bit.
Review 23:Loved the whole facility, spa was a place to unwind, echoes great food & breakfast was included.
Review 24:The car park is barely adequate. Darley Restaurant is not open on Sunday and Monday. The rooms are not fully sound proof - small child next door. Charged for breakfast we didn't have.
Review 25:The hotel is very well presented with superior facilities. The location is superb.
Review 26:We had a family emergency and had to fly back to Perth. We gave them 3 days notice about it and they would not refund the money this was very disappointing as the travel lodge we were stayong at in the city gave us a full refund
Review 27:The spa treatment was very underwhelming. The staff were polite but cold. Doors banging throughout, music a little too loud. And to top it all off, the masseuse was chewing gum - which I heard when the music abruptly stopped. Very disappointed having spent $160.
Review 28:Perfect location, room was excellent - I had a view of the mountains - hotel staff were very friendly. Ideal place for a casual stay.
Review 29:The temperature of the indoor pool was perfect! 28 degrees :) All of the staff were friendly, kind and efficient. They even modified a dish on the menu on request and also had gluten free bread.
Review 30:Room very stuffy/hot at night, even with window open difficult to get a good nights sleep. A/C didn't seem to work - did mention it but no different second night. Toilet in what was a nice bathroom could have had a good clean or bleach!
Review 31:Location & staff
Review 32:The hotel is very pleasant and close to the 3 sisters and scenic world for views of the Jamison Valley. Brekfast excellent. Beautiful decor and grounds.
Review 33:The pillows were a little on the uncomfortable side of things, but overall comfort was fantastic.
Review 34:Friendly and efficient staff. Always happy, always smiling and always willing to help. Location is superb. Hotel is beautiful. Facilities are excellent. You can't ask for anything more. A stay you will always want to go back to.
Review 35:Everyone was amazing. Came to give my mother a special birthday present and the staff went out of their way to make it perfect! Very happy absolutely loved it.
Review 36:The room service was a bit average for the price, and the cocktails at the bar where over priced.
Review 37:The indoor pool, pool and chess room, darlys restaurant and proximity to katoomba.
Review 38:Check in staff seemed somewhat distracted. Too many questions all at the same time rather than providing a great welcome experience, which has always been the case in the past. Prices have gone up and higher than expected.
Review 39:Great location and fantastic setting
Review 40:The noisy, loud, splashy kids in the pool. A there are two why can't they be limited to one? Would have liked to experience Darley's restaurant but was shut on Sunday and Monday dinner. Enjoyed Echos though and may stay there next time instead.
Review 41:This is a beautiful Hotel for a Blue Mountains getaway. The location is just a short walk from Echo Point and the 3 Sisters. The Hotel is a cosy home away from home with friendly staff lovely food. We couldnt fault our stay.
Review 42:Parking for vehicles left a lot to be desired but there was valet parking if needed. Breakfast dining self serving trays and space inadequate for number of guests, some standing around awaiting food.
Review 43:Very pleasant and accommodating staff. Beautiful building and surrounds. Ideal location for privacy and access to viewing platforms for the mountains.
Review 44:It was a Sunday night and the main restaurant was closed - in fact most independent restaurants in the vicinity were closed too. There was food available at the resort in the main lounge, but we found our meals were average and expensive. The service was very good, and breakfast choices were also very good.
Review 45:We arrived early and expected to check in, but leave to return later in the afternoon when the room may be available, but were shown straight to our room. That was nice and unexpected. The room was nice and well appointed. Excellent bathroom with separate bath and shower.
Review 46:The staff at the bar and restaurant were inadequate in number and hence the service was very slow
Review 47:The location The decor and ambience of the lounge, bar and restaurant as well as of the rooms was fantastic. Hot pool was very welcome. The quality of service and support by the concierge was excellent.
Review 48:Poor attitude and organisation from staff. The French champagne arranged was not organised and, when I requested it, the cheaper Tasmanian Sparkling Wine was initially provided. Booking.com advised that a late checkout would likely be available - this was not mentioned on check-in and then refused the following morning. Frankly, for this class of resort and the charges imposed, that poor level of service is simply not good enough.
Review 49:Beautiful venue and Darley's food was excellent.
Review 50:A number of small irritants which could easily be fixed: 1. We had very poor wifi connection in the room. This would be easy and inexpensive to fix with extenders but that has not been done. 2. Bathroom in need of modernising- old style shower 3. Breakfast was overall good- but no fresh apple or orange juice and they charge extra for cappuccino et., whilst filter coffee is included in the price. This is just not acceptable on principle and makes no commercial sense- a few $$ saved but we saw other irritated guests (and staff who were queried why this was the policy)
Review 51:Overall, a high class facility with friendly staff, in a great location. would have been value for money but let down by a few shortcomings.
Review 52:I think the meals area could be a bit more streamlined. A nespresso machine would allow people to chose their coffee. There were crumbs on the inside window sills.
Review 53:Great location. Beautiful views. Darnley's very good.
Review 54:Shower head was the only thing I could fault as I'm over 6ft tall
Review 55:The fine dinning experience and the old world charm and professional staff at all areas A real joy to see this type of professionalism is not dead
Review 56:We like the restaurant, friendly staff, the comfortable lounges, the spa and indoor pool and also Lilianfels is in walking distance to the escarpment.
Review 57:Having to pay $5.50 for coffee as an extra at breakfast is ridiculous at a hotel of this calibre given the room rates. Also the bar prices on drinks is over the top. $25 for a standard Martini??
Review 58:Great location and comfortable surroundings.
Review 59:The shower rose in our room had very poor pressure and it was impossible to have a quick shower, this should be addressed also there was no heating in the bathroom, a small heater would have been good.
Review 60:Great venue, excellent food and service, very comfortable
Review 61:Lilianfels is in a fabulous location, just a five minute walk to The Three Sisters. The hotel is elegant and grand, but the staff is the absolute stand out at this hotel, so helpful and welcoming.
Review 62:the bed was too soft/lumpy. and there was no choice of pillow. i woke up with a sore neck both mornings. dinner meals were too slow to come out.
Review 63:comfortable atmosphere. Beautiful gardens.
Review 64:Couldn't figure out the WiFi? would of been better if there was a pamphlet with the WiFi login and password in your room. Otherwise was very happy.
Review 65:The Location of the Resort along with the room lay out, staff was helpful and the resort had many amenities.
Review 66:I could not fault our stay at all, it was a perfect couple of days
Review 67:the staff were excellent, nothing was a trouble and our requests were very promptly handled.
Review 68:Breakfast disappointing compared to other boutique resort hotels: we expected free espresso coffee and hot food cooked to order, not a buffet.
Review 69:Lovely big room, gorgeous view, free wifi.
Review 70:It's not a cheap hotel so to charge extra for DVD hire, bottled water in rooms and have such poor internet is disappointing.
Review 71:Location, ambiance, pool and high tea were all fantastic
Review 72:Our spa (jacuzzi hamman sauna) was cold and we did not find anyone to help us fix it, too bad the facilities are really nice!
Review 73:I loved my stay in Lilianfels. The personnel was really thoughtful and friendly, they basically made us feel special. I loved the old-fashion atmosphere and the character of this place, it's filled with memories and charm. Don't miss their restaurant Daley's if you stay there, it's absolutely delicious
Review 74:Parking dvd selection archaic and shouldn't have to pay for them given the accommodation cost
Review 75:Total package very enjoyable staff delightful in door pool the best
Review 76:Cannot fault Lillianfels. From arrival onwards our stay was perfect. Friendly ,helpful staff, comfortable lounge area and lovely rooms. The facilities were excellent .
Review 77:Dinner in lounge was served cold, including the plate. Sent meal back for reheating - meat was warmer but potato still cold. Shower frame and surrounds a bit looking in need of refurbishment and there appeared to be mould in the grouting and dirt in corners of shower.
Review 78:Ambiance and furnishings of the hotel, the facilities, views over the mountains. Beautiful surroundings and comfy lounges around the fires.
Review 79:The only bad point about this hotel was the night staff , room service is advertised as 24hrs , my last night I wished to order room service with my movie from 1am I rang the line for 2 1/2 hrs with no reply . I just gave up ! Maybe they were asleep on the job !! Not professional a let down for 5* hotel !
Review 80:The evening staff at dinner are wonderful , very accommodating they exceed good service ! The room is spacious and relaxing with fabulous bath , spa treatment was out of this world with lovely wonderful staff and good facilities which I had all to myself . The pool is very warm , the grounds of the hotel are beautiful and relaxing to wonder around . The food was fresh and well prepared .
Review 81:The 'free' wifi was virtually unusable. Parking was sometimes very difficult.
Review 82:Location is excellent. All of the staff were extremely pleasant and friendly. The lounge area is perfect for an afternoon drink and chat.
Review 83:We had planned to book into the health spa.We placed several calls prior to our arrival being told that no one was available top take our inquiry and someone would get back to us. We're still waiting.
Review 84:The room we were originally allocated was below our expectations. We were given an upgrade after a meeting with the Duty Manager.
Review 85:If we're being very picky... connecting to the free Wi-Fi could be more straight forward. Would be nice to get a few more tea bags in the mini bar.
Review 86:The staff were excellent, nothing was a problem. Service on meals in breakfast and Darleys was excellent, great timing. Loved all the casual areas to sit and chat, read or have a cup of tea!
Review 87:The lobbie is overcrowded with furniture and the clutter of dishes makes it unpleasant to relax in. The tablecloths over coffee tables look tacky . Unfortunately it looks tired.
Review 88:Staff were excellent. In poticular Jess who seemed to have been there from morning to night always with a smile
Review 89:It was extremely expensive for a one night stay.in the dining room you had to have a three course meal which again was extremely expensive for what you got.
Review 90:It is situated in an excellent location for walking and exploring.
Review 91:A very slow meal service one night and then a very slow service for the recook of a very undercooked piece of fish.I was sick of waiting so left the table without eating.A night of stress for the chef who I think was overwhelmed by a large walk in crowd.Still as we are the all important return guests not good.We had profuse apologies from the head of wait staff.
Review 92:The friendly, helpful staff. The comfort of the lounge and our room
Review 93:Small children running rampant through the dining room. Seems a little trivial but the toilet paper was really poor quality given the standard of the accommodation.
Review 94:The beautiful rooms and our amazing view with both front and side windows. The room was incredibly clean and the lovely touch of some chocolates for my husband as it was his birthday. Staff were lovely and helpful and the grounds immaculate.
Review 95:The only criticism my husband and I have is that Darley's Restaurant and also the breakfast areas are not large enough to accommodate the guests. The wine at both Darley's and Echo's Restaurants was expensive.
Review 96:The décor and gardens were extremely tasteful and the staff were very polite and obliging. The meals at both Darley's and Echo's next door were superb and offered an excellent variety of food.
Review 97:The bed head, which was secured to the wall, squeaked every time you moved (#218). There is very little guest parking. There is a beautiful lounge area with three fireplaces but no one can use them because it serves as a defacto dining room. I would have loved to sit and read a book in front of the fire but the place was either in use or being prepared for use. I would have thought that guests who pay for their stay would have priority over those dropping in for meals. This was VERY disappointing, I know there is a reading room but it's more of a broom cupboard. I wanted a fireplace and a view.
Review 98:having to wait until 1.45 pm for room to be serviced and then only after a phone call. guest lounge area was entirely set up for high tea from 11 am - no room to sit and relax! having to ask for lemon in sparkling water - something you often get just in a cafe!
Review 99:beautiful location food was excellant
Review 100:Why do 5 star hotels persist in giving the "accessible" rooms to people who book through hotel websites! I booked for a double for my daughter and myself and was given an accessible room which while it was comfortable enough, was not what we booked on line. Very frustrating and not transparent at the time of booking.
Review 101:the position was great and the grounds and heritage aspect of the property was lovely.
Review 102:Style & location of the hotel. Attentiveness and friendliness of the staff at reception , The Longe and Darley's. Staff at breakfast were a let down, for example had to ask for coffee twice and we had pretty much finished when it finally arrived.
Review 103:Style, location, staff helpfulness & friendliness. Darley's restaurant is worth the visit.
Review 104:I didn't find that the room had been cleaned completely. The bathroom in particular was not cleaned daily to the point it had been when I first arrived.
Review 105:The location, the staff, the meal and breakfasts were all amazing. Very happy. And I loved Sir Fred!
Review 106:Loved the view. The lounge area was fabulous! The breakfast staff were really helpful and were happy to be there! Lived up to the hype and photos on their website.
Review 107:Forgot bread I ordered before meal, but that's about it. Service standards were upheld overall.
Review 108:Enjoyable stay for 2 nights. Comfy and attractive lounge area, where you can drink or dine the day away. Excellent Spa also on site, for a facial or massage. Highly recommend the volcanic stone massage, so warming in the winter.
Review 109:Some of the breakky options had run out.... And they were replaced after we had moved on from the bacon and eggs etc
Review 110:The attention we received from the opening of the door on our arrival, info about cabs and restaurants. The view and the room were lovely. The welcome, and birthday greeting and chocolates were a lovely touch that made it special for us.
Review 111:Wifi should be free for duration of stay. The pillow top bed was too soft
Review 112:Wonderful friendly staff, they couldn't do enough for us. Loved the smallness of this hotel, as well as its elegance, and good location
Review 113:No views even though we had paid for a valley view all we saw were the tourists looking at us across the road and some glimpses through the trees. They need to be more honest and say there are no panoramic views down the valley from anywhere in the hotel.
Review 114:Location was great. Original old building was lovely where the restaurant was located.
Review 115:Nothing really
Review 116:The atmosphere in the lounge made us stay at the hotel on a Saturday night instead of going out. The staff was dynamic, fun, friendly Food was lovely The hotel was nice and warm Birth chocolate and a handwritten card was put in our room
Review 117:Very Noisy staff reorganising furniture in main area...reading library room unavailable as being for meeting for the full time we were there. Fires not lit. Gym equipment included only one tread mill
Review 118:Location, Spa staff , pool area
Review 119:The lounge area being reserved at breakfast, when there's no one sitting there & poor service in getting a coffee.
Review 120:Location & friendly front of house staff.
Review 121:Shower nozzle difficult to get a good shower. Air con too warm so I couldn't sleep. Turned down was noisy. Turned off was stuffy.
Review 122:Beautiful decor, ambiance, approachable staff. Spacious room.
Review 123:Shower was extremely weak with water literally dripping and we were unable to have proper shower, especially difficult to wash long hair. Very disappointed from a 5-star hotel as bathroom facilities are expected to be better. Our relaxing trip turned out to be very stressful instead.
Review 124:Spa not quite up to scratch. Had a couples remedial massage and was pretty average and not remedial. Otherwise wonderful stay.
Review 125:Wonderful hotel in great location. Walking distance to great mountain look outs. Darleys restaurant was excellent, although hefty price tag. Very relaxing hotel and location. Would be stunning in summer too with that beautiful pool and gardens. Nice cosy rooms.
Review 126:Thought the flow of water through the shower head was poor. I know water is a valuable resource, but in Winter, a hot wet shower is an essential.
Review 127:Loved the lounge, our room, the service and appreciated being asked about whether or not, I would like my towels, sheets washed or reused. Loved that we found out, you are pet friendly!
Review 128:Didn't have twin share rooms. They split king bed. They aid it was king single. It wasn't. Bed was way too small And very uncomfortable. I will never do that again.
Review 129:Quiet. Close to three sisters. Great restaurant
Review 130:The fact that the Lounge area was totally booked out and no area left for pAying guests to sit and relax We paid and spent a lot of money at the resort nearly $2000 for the wknd Not acceptable not to be able to use full facilities
Review 131:The day spa and darleys
Review 132:It's very expensive but I felt it was worth it.
Review 133:I loved our valley view room. It was tucked up under the roof and was very quiet with great views. The location was terrific too. We got there late Friday of the long weekend and there were two restaurants in very close proximity which was very convenient. Open log fires in the main room and big squashy chairs to sink into.
Review 134:Had higher expectations so found it a little tired and underwhelming. Some staff (porter/concierge team) were excellent, front desk and restaurant staff did not meet our expectations at all. Breakfast room is too small and we certainly did not expect to have to 'line up' and wait to have breakfast in a good hotel, never happened anywhere else globally. Windows were generally not clean, in room or breakfast cafe, which spoilt outlook. Maintenance in bathroom poorly done. Hotel was well below our expectations for price.
Review 135:Great location, pleasant surroundings, comfortable
