Reviews for B&B Villa Pirandello

Review 1:Breakfast was in a cafe across two busy streets, but we were told this was temporary, as the hotel restaurant was being renovated. The rooms were very dark and therefore not very cosy. Difficult to find, as the B&b is quite a walk downhill, and you can't see it from the street, and there are no signs on street level. (For the future guests - entrance is right next to the petrol station). No parking, only street parking is available and of course you have to pay for that (not too much, though).

Review 2:Very kind host (but you have to call him to meet him, he's not there all the time). The B&B is situated on the ground floor of a lovely villa, and there is a terrace the guests may use. The room was quite large, with a nice bathroom. Close to the centre of Agrigento.

Review 3:Breakfast in a restaurant up the road is not a good idea. Breakfast should be a leisurely part of the stay and breakfast here felt rushed.

Review 4:Loacation and room were very nice

Review 5:Hard to find. Advertises parking, but there isn't any. No breakfast available on site, had to go to a cafe nearby. Uncomfortable bed.

Review 6:Central as close to the station and town centre

Review 7:Difficult to find (by car). Payment only cash, despite there being a CC machine available. (Double) bed very uncomfortable - two singles pushed together just didn't work. Breakfast at nearby cafe (temporary measure?) - not terribly convenient. Room quite dark (basement level - presumably old kitchens!) - poor lighting.

Review 8:Location convenience, interesting property.

Review 9:Really friendly place, relaxing garden to spend some time relaxing in. Staff are friendly and helped us on arrival to find a coffee shop and they actually paid for us. Did not have too and it was really appreciated!

Review 10:At the time of our stay there, the restaurant was not working for breakfast and it was a great pity, not enjoying the garden ...

Review 11:The garden is dreamy. The villa has a romantic atmosphere.

Review 12:Had to call on arrival as it was a public holiday in Italy and no-one was on site. As per previous reviews, basic Italian breakfast is at nearby cafe, not on site.

Review 13:Set in beautiful gardens in parking close by and free. Rooms were generous and comfortable. Alessio, our host, was attentive and helpful, when on site, and was contactable on phone, if needed. Easy walk in to town centre and short drive to Greek temple site.

Review 14:The grounds of the B&B were in disrepair. The room also could have used some inprovement.

Review 15:Alessio, the manager was excellent. He was very helpful and friendly and went out of his way to make our stay pleasant. He also recommended an excellent meal where we ate both our dinners.

Review 16:Nothing!

Review 17:This property is an oasis right in the middle of Agrigento. It's good on foot because close to the station and by car. The unexpected connection of Pirandello to the property and the perfumed garden were a wonderful bonus.

Review 18:Nobody there at check-in time and we had to hang around for an hour in the cold. It has obviously changed hands. It was so cold that we left after one night. No WiFi. No breakfast served - had to go to a café which asked us to pay extra for coffee on top of orange juice and a croissant. The restaurant was closed. It was miserable.

Review 19:It was near the railway station

Review 20:This b and b was dark and dingy, the owner showed little interest and left the premises as soon as we arrived and we never saw her again. We had to have breakfast at a local cafe. Basically you cannot run a b and b like this.

Review 21:The terrace, if the sun had shone !

Review 22:We did not like the attitude of the staff. Nobody was present, when we arrived. After a phone call a woman arrived who tried to repair the wi-connection, that did not work and was clearly only interested in getting rid of the problem and being paid in cash for the room without giving a receipt. As she was not speaking a word of English, this took quite some time. We had to call the booking.com hotline and lost a lot of time with her. Unpleasant.

Review 23:The villa is a beautiful old building in a very nice garden. Our room was comfortable and quiet.

Vorrei usare ancora. this hotel is very near from the station and the bus stop, so very useful and convenient. And the owner is very nice person and always kind. I would like to reserve this also next time.

Review 25:The staff was very friendly and helpful. The place is beautiful and quiet even though it is on the main street. There is a nice little restaurant in the garden as well. I recommend this place to everyone.

Review 26:Not so easy to find. Owner should describe where to park & how to find on booking.com and on own website.

Review 27:Beautiful house & garden with fine restaurant in garden

Review 28:We didn't get to make the wi-fi work, which is our only complaint.

Review 29:Michele, Fabio and the Swedish girl were all amazing hosts for us. They were always very helpful and we felt very welcome there. The value we paid was fair, given all the nice things we had there. A lovely place!

Review 30:Very very helpful manager Michael who went out of his way to get us quickly to the Archaeological Museum and Bus Station, nothing was too much trouble. He is a great source of local information. Recommend the restaurant across the garden (where breakfast is also served).

Review 31:It was a bit hard to see the sign from the street (we drove by it a couple of times), but this was a minor inconvenience that was corrected by calling our host who guided us to a nearby parking place.

Review 32:This was a great stay in Agrigento. Our host (Dorothea) was very informative and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, and the location was great (close to excellent restaurants, Valley of the Temples). I would highly recommend it.

Review 33:I had intentionally booked the quad room with a balcony for my friend and myself so that we would have ample space and a bit of privacy. When we arrived we were told by Michele that he had given the room to a family from Yorkshire because he had seen we were 2 people and thought that we had made an error (which would be hard to do with booking.com as room descriptions are very clear as is the price difference between a double and a quad room). He apologized and said he made a mistake. He first tried to give us one double room and then after some discussion gave us two rooms both on the ground floor, one a dark dank room in the back, the other adjacent to the terrace (which I took). Michele's voice woke me from a nap-- he was discussing booking.com ratings with another guest, trying to get the guest to give the hotel a good rating. The rooms were nothing special-- decor in both was dated and there was little room to maneuver. Out of all of the places we stayed at in Sicily, this was the only disappointment.

Review 34:Breakfast was excellent.

Review 35:The shower was a little small for my liking but was fine during our stay.

Review 36:Michele was very approachable and friendly as soon as we met on arrival. The location from the train station could not be better and the room was very comfortable indeed. The breakfast spread was great and I really didn't expect to have such a good espresso with it as well. I would highly recommend this B&B

Review 37:This is a great location. A short drive to the Valley of the Temples but only a short walk to the historical centre and restaurants. Parking is close by. The rooms are clean, spacious and have a sense of literary history. Hosts are very helpful. Breakfast was plentiful. The restaurant on the same site provides the best meal in Agrigento - Erika who waited table was informative, helpful and made the evening. This b&b is a perfect base for Agrigento.

Review 38:The ramp down to the b&b is a bit steep but better than stairs as you can roll your luggage.

Review 39:Good location, easy parking in public car park in the street above the b&b (with broken meter when we were there, so free, otherwise cheap). The garden is a lovely spot to sit and have breakfast. Friendly owners, welcoming and helpful. An easy walk into town for dinner.

Review 40:The room we stayed in was not at all like the others. Ours was a basement room with no accessible window which backed right up on the noisy restaurant. If I had realized that our room would be so unpleasant, I would have called in advance to reserve one in the front of the building or I would have stayed somewhere else. I guess I feel a bit mislead.

Review 41:My husband and I enjoyed the garden and the location was good.

Review 42:A double bed isn't the same as 2 single beds next to each other. It should be made more clear that check-in time is between 4:00 and 7:00pm.

Review 43:The space and calmness of the location. The nearby restaurant. The excellent staff.

Review 44:The bedside lights didn't work

Review 45:A lovely setting, with a pretty garden, surprisingly quiet. Very comfortable bed. Good food at the onsite restaurant. Helpful information about Jardiniere and temples etc., and a lift to same.

Review 46:Small difficulty to bring down the baggage from our car because the parking is outside of the premises. Mosquito repellent would be good to supply in the rooms

Review 47:Everything about our stay at this Villa was great. The location, the grounds. the hostess, the breakfast. The Villa is a beautiful building, secluded from the busy streets in the heart of the city with an amazing garden with a restaurant right in the heart of the garden. Great diner & fantastic breakfast, fresh pasteries. We'd stay again for sure.

Review 48:Honestly nothing! It was a perfect b@b

Review 49:It is a lovely villa with a beautiful garden. We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed our stay very much. Breakfast is mainly sweet (typical Italian) we loved the cornetto and cannoli and everything.

Review 50:Only on-street parking available.

Review 51:Attractive facility.

Review 52:Alessio & Teresa were delightful.

Review 53:Maybe some improvement are required for shower

Review 54:Warm welcome from Alessio. The charm and freshness of an old house

Review 55:Good location, not far from station. Owner is very friendly and informative. A very quiet and relaxing accommodation.

Review 56:Nothing to dislike

Review 57:Room and history excellent host with great advice and location to explore the temples. Parking easy and simple to find.

Review 58:the window of our room was 3 meter high that we felt a bit closed

Review 59:style of the villa

Review 60:A struggle to find it in one-way system at peak time

Review 61:General setting was an oasis amidst the city's high-rise

Review 62:Located in a beautiful villa this B&B is a perfect spot in Agrigento. The owner is very helpful. Great B&B in a beautiful city.

Review 63:Very pleasant host, room was adequate and clean. Breakfast was ok and parking is nearby

Review 64:Everything was fantastic.

Review 65:Wi-Fi connection

Review 66:Everything!!!

Review 67:Nothing to dislike.

Review 68:Villa Pirandello is a wonderful B&B. It is an oasis in the hectic town of Agrigento. It is an easy drive to the Valley of the Temples and walking distance to the historic centre but is quiet and surrounded by a delightful garden. It is the first place in the world where we have stayed where proper coffee is served with breakfast. The managers are very helpful and went out of their way to assist us when we had an issue with our hire car. One night we ate at the restaurant on site and had one of the best meals we have had in Sicily. We thoroughly recommend Villa Pirandello if you you are staying in Agrigento.

Review 69:Liked everything

Review 70:Excellent staff. Take you in as though you are family and take care of all your needs. Owner, Michele, went out of his way to make sure that we had a wonderful stay. He personally drove us to see the Valley of the Temples by night. Also, spoke to a Doctor on behalf of my husband, and then drove us to pharmacy to get prescriptions.

Review 71:Pillows were somewhat thin for side sleeping. Breakfast was very good quality with new choices each day, but was only offered between 8:30-9:30am.

Review 72:Staff was outstanding--we really felt welcomed by our host. We received great recommendations for restaurants, a beach, and the best times to see the Valley of the Temples. He was very passionate about Agrigento and making sure guests experienced all they could. The adjacent restaurant is an excellent choice for dinner.

Review 73:Steep ramp pedestrian accesss from street, cramped bathroom.

Review 74:Central location, easy to find, nice garden and terrace, good wifi, historic house, excellent breakfast and restaurant on premises. Quiet room.

Review 75:Directions about where to park were confusing to us. Breakfast was pretty basic.

Review 76:Our room had access to an outdoor patio that was a very pleasant place to relax.

Review 77:nothing!

Review 78:Everything about our stay at this Villa was great. The location, the grounds. Michaela the host was extremely welcoming and really had a wealth of knowledge about the area, the history - he even met us at our car and carried our bags. A note on parking, there's loads just a 2 minute walk from the hotel, and super cheap. the Villa is a impressive, historic building in a quiet oasis in the heart of the city. We slept so soundly and awoke to fantastic breakfasts served in their restaurant. Make sure you book in for dinner for at least one night, the villa has one of the best restaurants in town. We'd stay again for sure.

Review 79:No adverse comments!

Review 80:The host and his wife went out of their way to make us feel most welcome, with advice about visiting the museum and Valley of the Temples etc. and generally a friendly atmosphere. We also had positive experience of the 'on- site' restaurant, with good food and wine, with knowledgeable advice, and friendly service. Parking on the street just below the B&B is relatively straightforward and free, with easy access via steps from the street. We have no hesitation in recommending this B&B. Peter and Tina East Sussex, UK .

Review 81:The B&B doesn't have its own parking or access by car. You need to walk down the slope from the road 20 or 30 meters. Though we were warned that the hotel is not "seen from the road", it didn't occur to us that it means no access by road at all, so it took us a couple of leaps around very busy city to try to find the way to it. So it might be communicated a bit better, considering there are places to park not far away and the manager is very helpful in meeting you by the road and assisting with luggage, etc., so it is not a problem as such.

Review 82:We loved everything. This is a very special B&B in a lovely location with a private garden and exceptionally friendly manager. If I was rating it as a hotel, I would give 4 stars. We had a lovely clean and tastefully decorated room with an exit onto the large terrace. Bathroom was not large, but the water pressure outstanding. We only stayed one night, but if I knew beforehand how good it would be, I might have considered staying longer.

Review 83:The warmth of the staff, the beautiful room and environment. There was cooking class while I was there and they even invited me to join, although I don't understand Italian, but it is so nice to see how they made pasta from scratch! Highly recomended :)

Review 84:Rooms were spartan, thin towels, poor quality bedding and towels...uncomfortable beds, poor lighting, cheap furniture. Shower was very small and rickety..accomodations did not match outside of villa appearance

Review 85:Setting was lovely...good breakfast...

Review 86:We were early for the on location gardens and outside accomodations, however, once in season, one could tell, they would be wonderful.

Review 87:The on location resaurant was excellent and the suggestions for night sightseeing were perfect. Perfect location for shopping or a town stroll. Dorethea, the property manager was outstanding for guidance and suggestions!

Review 88:Parking was at the top of the hill and getting down to our room as older people with bags was quite a struggle. Very small shower cubicle.

Review 89:Very friendly host who gave us plenty of information about the sites, eating options etc.

Review 90:Easy to find, great communication from owner, very helpfully let me bring my bicycle into the room with me. Very knowledgeable about the house and Agrigento in general, and really welcoming. Plus, the best breakfast I've had in ages. I'd totally recommend staying here, especially for touring cyclists.

Review 91:Great location. Very close to valley of temples. Good spacious rooms. Michelle was extremely helpful and made arrangements to have someone meet us when we arrived much ahead of check-in time.

Review 92:Garden, terrace, location and welcome from owner. The restaurant at the Villa practicing slow food was outstanding and we would recommend to add a dinner to your stay.

Review 93:I would have liked a window or door that we could see out of. But as theplace was so perfect in other ways this was not such a big deal.

Review 94:The host is super helpful and contacted us well before our arrival withdetailed instructions about how to find the villa, which we were able todo with little difficulty (and a gps). ALthough our room only had a veryhigh window it was very comfortable and the villa and garden arebeautiful. Breakfast was great, served in a restaurant in the gardenwhich operates as a separate restaurant at night. We ate there and itwas really good. We were sorry not to be staying longer.

Review 95:Nothing

Review 96:The Villa was located in a garden with a terrace and comfortable seats outside the rooms; the room was tastefully decorated; Wi-Fi worked well; excellent, plentiful breakfast; 3 km from the Valley of the Temples; very helpful owner (English)

Review 97:Rooms are in the basement of the villa and the room we had did not have a lot of natural light. Parking is a problem - onstreet and can be hard to get.

Review 98:Great central location, Michele is an excellent and friendly host with lots of good advice about things to see & do. Breakfast very good.

Review 99:We spent a wonderfully relaxing couple of days at Villa Pirandello and our experience was just as is described in your most helpful review. Michele made us feel immediately at home in the beautiful and tastefully decorated villa. His description of its history was fascinating and he gave us lots of useful information about Agrigento and the spectacular Valley of the Temples. We would recommend anyone visiting Agrigento to stay at Villa Pirandello.

Review 100:We had trouble finding the B&B, mainly because it is well below street level and we kept driving by it without recognizing it. There is no on-site parking, but they safeguarded a place up on the street. Best to call when you are a few minutes away and get help.

Review 101:The history of the building as an erstwhile residence of Pirandello makes it a special place to stay. The on-grounds restaurant is superb -- great way to savor Sicilian flavors. The central location is good -- once you figure out how to get there.

Review 102:Michele is very helpful with tips on what to do and see, especially if you don't have much time to find out about the places. Don't miss the ExPanificio Osteria and their pistacchio couscous dessert :-)... ask Michele how to find it.

Review 103:You should update the Owner in advance when coming because he is not always there.

Review 104:Excellent location!!! Near the valley of the temples and the city center. beautifull villa!. There is always free parking and the owner is very helpful, pleasant, gave us great advice on trips in Agrigento.

Review 105:Very beautiful old villa with comfortable and silent rooms. Nice sea view from terasa. Additionally want to note the restaurant. Personnel was very friendly and professional. Wine was delicious. Michele is the perfect host, provide us with detailed information about the villa and city. I will definitely recommend it to my friends.

Review 106:Excellent B&B in term of location and facilities. Very nice breakfast in the garden and very warm welcome by the B&B manager who gave us lots of tips on what to see/where to eat etc. Definitely good value for money and highly recommended.

Review 107:Missed Opportunity: Although there was a short briefing about the homeof Luigi Pirandello, we were anxious to settle into our room. A moreopportune time would have been during perhaps a special invitation happyhour on the terrace, when we could give this narrative its dueattention, ask questions and learn more about the Pirandello history andthose who once lived in this historical site. Perhaps a splattering ofPirandello writings in our room or in the lobby or entrance areas wouldadd substance to the historical value and provenance of this place heonce called home. In Pirandello’s words, "A fact is like a sack –it won’t stand up if it’s empty. To make it stand up, first you have toput in it all the reasons and feelings that caused it in the firstplace."

Review 108:The dramatic approach into the Pirandello Villa and gardens set thestage for a picturesque visit. We were not disappointed. The visualtreat began from the blue-outlined etching of Luige Pirandello on thehotel sign, through the garden of well-placed old pots filled withseasonal flowers, to the wonderful pencil drawings by Gaetano Vella onthe walls outside our room. The room was visually pleasing as well, contemporary, comfortable, simple and spotless. And, what was in storefor me later, compliments of Michelle one of the owners and in thedelightful company of a couple from New York/Paris, was an eveningdrive through Agrigento, ending with a surprise view of the Valley ofthe Temples all in lights seen from the Villa Athena. It was a birthdaygift I’ll never forget.

Review 109:Need to arrange arrival time with owner; they have a office, but are not always there. Will come quickly if you telephone.

Review 110:Location was good for those with a car (public parking on street was available), also close to train station. (Note, the B&B is on Via F. Crispi, below a AGIP gas (petrol) station, but not visible from the road, park when you see the AGIP sign) The B&B is on ground floor of a nicely-restored old villa (was home of Pirandello). Wifi in rooms and a computer in common area are available. Lots of effort was put into decoration, etc. of rooms, to make them nice. Good breakfast in restaurant next door (run by owner's brother)

Review 111:The facility has been recently renovated and is very well maintained. It was very clean and comfortable. It is conveniently located close to the sites of Agrigento, especially the Valley of the temples. Parking was free and close to the hotel.

Review 112:Michele, the manager, was really nice and helpful. He gave us loads of tips to have stunning views of the Valley of Temples in Agrigento at night and regarding restaurants in the area. His B&B is located in a former stately house very close to Agrigento center and offers a beautiful, quiet garden. Our bedroom had recently been refurbished. Breakfast was excellent (homemade cakes and pastries). It is 5-10 min away from the Temples by car. We definitely recommend staying there.

Review 113:Excellent hotel - nice, clean, stylish and in the good location very close to the city center. The owner is very nice, helpful and talkative ;) He gave us a lot of excellent hints where to go and what to see. The breakfast was splendid!

Review 114:This is a converted villa in the classic Italian style. Ground floorrooms were never meant as bedrooms and do not lend themselves well forthat purpose. Few windows or large doors with shutters makes the roomsomewhat claustrophobic if you value your privacy. The showers areminute. Its almost impossible to move. This is a design fault as thebathrooms could have accommodated larger ones. The location is obscureand parking is very difficult to find. Try the Via Europa and walk upthe steps to the back gate which may or may not be locked. Gps won'thelp much as this street is below the hotel which is itself on a hillbetween two other streets. Breakfast is bread and jam or cake. Nocheese, meat or eggs are available. The music in therestaurant/breakfast room is too loud, and they seem reluctant toturn it down when asked.

Review 115:The price is right - but then again, you get what you pay for! Micheleis your nbf, and will tell you more than you need to know about thearea, given that you are probably there to see the Valley of theTemples. Its easy to get to the temples by car, but too far to walk. Therestaurant serves good "slow food" but is a bit pricey.

Review 116:No elevator...suitcases have to be hauled up 3 flights of stairs.

Review 117:Location was great to centralize and do day trips from. Family-run business is friendly, helpful, and lots of little extras to make you feel special. Private secure parking was great. Breakfast great, views great, room comfortable. Relaxing spot.

Review 118:The manager was extremely gracious, hospitable and generous with his time, welcoming us and showing us around Agrigento-by-night. The villa and gardens are stunning. Slow food elegant restaurant on the premises.

Review 119:It's not at street level, so the enterance is a but hidden. Just call Michale when you are close and he'll help you find it.

Review 120:Michale the manager helped us tremendously. He is friendly, helpful and a true host. B&B is walking distance to the city sites. Room is clean and just decorated. It's worth twice the price.

Review 121:Very nice location in "historic" Pirandello's villa. Very kind staff (Michel) who informed you in advance about the location which is by car difficult to find. Nevertheless the staff was very helpful and also there is the possibility to lunch. The food was excellent but according to other restaurants somewhat expensiver. You don't need a guide since he explain you all importing places to visit.

Review 122:It seems that the new management, however good a job it's doing, is not so much keeping the writer Pirandello's spirit 'alive' as turning his name into a 'brand'. Sign of the times probably, when entrepreneurs have to survive and 20th century writers are not being read anymore.

Review 123:We came because Pirandello lived and worked here. New management seems to have upgraded the rooms recently and everything is in good condition. Well located, close to the city center and an easy 5 minute drive to the Valley of the Temples.

Review 124:Parking can be difficult but Michele helps out if there is a problem.

Review 125:Michele, the manager, was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The villa is beautiful, set in lovely gardens with outdoor terrace at the back. Rooms newly decorated and very comfortable. Would definitely recommend.

Review 126:The villa Pirandello is a nice place to stay, very quiet, with anice terrace and garden. 3 min walk from the old center ofAgrigente. Bathroom is a bit small, but room is nice. The owner isvery helpful. You may ask for one of the 2 room with a large windowopening on the terrace. Breakfast is very good and healthy. I highlyrecommend this b&B.
