Reviews for Maris Hotel

Review 1:The twin bed was actually a two single beds connected, which is not that pleasant for a couple.

Review 2:Pretty close to the German Colony street which is great.

Review 3:the mattress was terrible , no cleaning tools of any kind to use in kitchenette ,

Review 4:we loved the location , the room is relatively convenient, includes a kitchenette ,the bathroom is spacious, the staff is wonderful

Review 5:Same times the maid not clean so good, the windows are dirty, but is clean enough, but in this point the Mary's facilities can be emprove, because another things are very good.

Review 6:The safety, location, management and receptionists, size of room, bed, very good shower, every day the towels was change, wifi.

Review 7:On check in, the receptionist was more busy to find out the legal visain my passport, and tried to convince me that I'm a Israeli citizenthan to give me the room. Also I had to answer him a lot of questionsabout the reason and legal forms in Israel. Very unpleasant. Probably hedidn't know was working in a hotel and not for Interior MinistryAlso the corridor in my way to the room was pitch black. Had to use atorch to find out the room or not to fall on the way. The bathroom doorwas broken, had to shower or use toilet with open door. No food. Noparking lot. The reception on second floor of the building, had to takethe stairs or elevator. It is not a hotel, is part of one building withone floor hotel rooms on the second floor. Located close to the sea butawful view, to a parking lot. Four stars hotel??? That's a bad joke.I could say barely 2 stars.

Review 8:Do yourself a favor and look for a different hotel.

Review 9:They charged me too much for my room, and when i confronted them, they didnt return the money. So basically they stole my money. I didnt get roomservice. Stayed for 3 days, never coming back

Review 10:Every ten minutes a train comes by, you can´t keep the window open.

Review 11:Helpfull and professional employees. Location very good for exploring the city. Walkingdistance to Bat Galim-Beach / 30 min. English, spanish, italien, german spoken TV-channels

Review 12:Hotel position and the entrance ( I search the entrance around half hour) For everybody else who will go there, you need to know that the reception is in the 2 floor...

Review 13:Modern rooms

Review 14:Rooms at the rear of the property are badly affected by noise from the railway line some 100 meters away, also parking is totally inadequate - If you arrived as we did after 6:00pm you are asked to use a pay and display car park, but you can't buy a ticket until 09:00 the following morning.

Review 15:The door out

Review 16:The room was boiling hot when we arrived. Room was closed, no AC on all day and right against the sun, which turned it into a small sauna. AC was not strong enough to cool off the room properly. Check in was delayed even though credit card was charged one week before even arriving in Israel. Room was very tiny and though it said two twin beds, they were lumped together as to make one queen size bed and we had split them apart ourselves.

Review 17:Location is close to German Colony and Haifa Port. Easy to find ATM pharmacy and places for breakfast nearby.

Review 18:Very close to railways ans train station. A lot of noise, even in the night

Review 19:Clean, nice, exactly like in pictures, good wi-fi, nice & usefull kitchenette

Review 20:Very high windows gave the feeling of being in a box if you had to stay there for long. The TV remote stopped working due to operator error, no instructions & difficulty explaining the problem to staff...language difficulties...so gave up.

Review 21:Close to the railway station & buses traveling to places of interest outside Haifa. Decore was tasteful & modern compared to other accommodation in Israel.

Review 22:The wifi was weird at times. Not allowing me to connect but this only happend twice. The smoke alarm went off several times while I was there. A few times it came from my room but I wasn't smoking or cooking.

Review 23:The staff were helpful and any questions I had they were quick to give me an answer.

Review 24:Great location, short walk to numerous restaurants and tourist sites e.g. German colony. Despite the strong reviews and nice looking photos accompanying the hotel description, based on the modest price I was expecting to find something more like a "backpacker hotel." Nope - this is just as good as the reviews indicate, and well-represented by the photos I saw, very nice indeed. Staff was very helpful, spoke fluent English, rooms were very clean and shiny - like new - and very quiet. It's a sort of oasis in the midst of downtown Haifa. Will be my first choice on any future trips to Haifa.

Review 25:Loved the location, as we took the train from Tel aviv airport directly to Haifa and could walk to the hotel. Easy to find Had a lovely view of the cruise ships docking and the bay of Haifa. Very helpful staff. The young girl at the reception was so good to us. Sorry, forgot the name. She was good with the map and showed where we were and how to get around. She was full of information and called to get quote on taxi for us to go to Akko on Saturday (Shabat). The gentleman who was there during the day was also very good and helpful. Room was a bit on the small side but comfortable and washroom with shower .. no complaints. Also, there is a small kitchenette with fridge if you need with kettle and the makes. OUr room overlooked the port and it was quite relaxed. Best of all, we were able to walk from the hotel to Ben Gurion st to Bahai grounds with many restaruants along the way.

Review 26:the noise from train, wifi not working, the TV not working the bed moving, self catering but no water provides or shop around open after 21.00

Review 27:not sure

Review 28:All the sounds from th corridors (tile floor)carry really well into the rooms, there is a free space under the doors.

Review 29:The room was good. The parking area is really close.

Review 30:If you are noise sensitive, ask for a room away from the railway. Free parking only at night (18-06 I think)

Review 31:Wifi, Room decoration & facilities Double glazed windows- noise didn't bother me

Review 32:An excellent hotel, modern, immaculately clean, and very reasonably priced. Kitchenette in the room, so suitable both for short-term and long-term stays.

Review 33:At evening the area becomes deserted

Review 34:A small new hotel, downtown Haifa. Near the train station and the central Street . The room has everything is needed ,even a small kitchenette.

Review 35:There was young Russian speaking girl on reception. She said that I have to pay extra money, and she couldn't explain why. So I didn't pay. Weird.

Review 36:Location

Review 37:The wifi connection in the room was a little temperamental and regularly the connection would drop.

Review 38:I stayed in the Maris hotel during a recent 12 day stay in Haifa. The hotel was very quiet which suited my needs. The room was spacious with lots of storage and a kitchenette which was very useful to have. The room was cleaned daily except for Saturday due to Shabbat. The staff were very friendly and helpful also.

Review 39:The standard room is a bit small, only suitable for short stay.

Review 40:Room was very clean, not too far away from beach. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and also paid parking space next door. Facilities in the bathroom were great. There was even hair conditioner provided!

Review 41:Without breakfast ... but a lot of good restaurants around and cheap

Review 42:We spent a quiet weekend and a great location ... nice and central ... excellent value for money

Review 43:The shower consisted of a shower head but no shower stall. The floor does slope toward the drain. There is no breakfast included but that was OK as I keep Kosher.

Review 44:liked that it was located next to the port(2+ blocks). My parents arrived on a cruise ship for 3 days and I live in Jerusalem so this was the perfect location for us. We used it as a starting point to tour the Galilee. The cost was very reasonable. It is also near the German Colony which has one of the only strictly kosher (Mahedrin) restaurants in Haifa named "The Cafe". And the hotel is also very close to the train station.

Review 45:The location is excellent, everything is near

Review 46:Bed cover way too small. Rooms very cold Bathroom ventilation extremely noisy

Review 47:Location cleanliness bed

Review 48:Excellent deal! Overnightplace to visit Haifa. Very nice desk personell.

Review 49:Bathroom is not cleaned well. The hotel is situated in an industrial zone district.

Review 50:Very close to railway station!

Review 51:Poor location - near railway station. Night trains are terrible! The room was not clean enough, no housekeeping during the stay.

Review 52:Good value for money

Review 53:immediate surroundings arent very nice

Review 54:Good location, big room, modern

Review 55:Location, Comfort, Professional Staff.

Review 56:I would've liked to have been up at unity to buy something to drink.

Review 57:Climatisation

Review 58:the bed was to small, the mattress was poor and the blanket was short. The AC was good but a little noisy

Review 59:the price & location

Review 60:The breakfast should be provided. Wi-fi hasn't not enough signal.

Review 61:Staff was very helpfull. Thank you!

Review 62:We were a couple and the bed was 2 singles so I was very uncomfortable for ys

Review 63:Very clean and, new modern rooms

Review 64:I had one problem with the bed it was 2 beds it was pretty annoying

Review 65:The free wifi and the overall cleanness and that it was really quite

Review 66:Very clean quiet in a great location near the German Colony with great restaurants near by.easy to get to. Wifi was fast.great value!

Review 70:clean,security,only the room card can open the lift.

Review 71:wifi didn't work well in my room

Review 72:close to the centre

Review 73:Very noise area Staff not kindly

Review 74:Nothing

Review 75:A bit noisy, close to railway station

Review 76:Everything is ok except the noise.

Review 77:WiFi signal was weak at times.

Review 78:Excellent value for money.

Review 79:Lights from outside under the door

Review 80:Very very clean Calm Lot of TV channels Decoration

Review 81:Good location close to the center and Baha's gardens.

Review 82:View from window was facing high rise buildings.

Review 83:Ok place to stay clean comfortable and the best price hotel in this location.

Review 84:wifi on and off, staff were not so helpful with the information about tourist attraction

Review 85:location very close to the train station

Review 86:Cleanliness, hospitality

Review 87:Not a lot of restaurants or other businesses are open nearby at night

Review 88:Clean, comfortable and quiet (get a room not facing the adjacent rail line)

Review 89:Close to station so very short walk. Only 5 minutes walk for the area with all the restaurants. Very clean and very good value for money

Review 90:Great location: close to downtown and a train station.

Review 91:quiet clean convenient fast connect to internet

Review 92:NIL

Review 93:Very nice staff, impressive design, new hotel, close to public transportation, very recommended!

Review 94:incompetent staff

Review 95:No basics for cooking or cleaning

Review 96:Location, room

Review 97:Staff Proximity to station Basic room but clean

Review 98:No breakfast

Review 99:Good location Very clean and cozy Fast wifi connection

Review 100:It was a bit far to walk, 20 to 25 minutes, from where I was spending most of my days otherwise for someone coming from downtown Haifa very convenient.

Review 101:Very clean and nicely kept. Friendly staff, willing to assist and make one feel comfortable. Good location for the port and central train station.

Review 102:The position was superb: within yards of the downtown tram and main station. The room was excellent, terrific facilities, great staff. It was also within happy eating distance of some great restaurants and cafes in the Arab quarter. For the price, an absolute bargain.

Review 103:Although located near German Colony, it is exactly not very close to it or any other major location in Haifa. Since the hotel is located next to the port, there is nothong around the hotel. I had to go to German colony for meals as there were no good restaurants nearby. The hotel did not provide breakfast or have a restaurant.

Review 104:The staff were courteous . The room was comfortable and clean. The housekeeping was good, as the room was cleaned everyday and towels changed. It is located close to a major train and bus station, so connectivityto other places is good.

Review 105:This location is excellent during the day, but becomes less inviting at night. (It is not bad, it is just a lot less alive at night. Lower Haifa)

Review 106:The staff was very helpful. (Thanks!) Overall, I liked this hotel: nice, clean and comfortable.

Review 107:Breakfast not included We got a room with a window on a port and railway tracks so it was really noisy at night There are lots of moscitos in this area so be prepared...

Review 108:Friendly staff, clean room, coffee and tea in a room, fully furnished (microwave, fridge, plates..). Safety.

Review 109:One day (out of three) there was a bit trouble with hot water You hear the trains nearby (Shabbat was ok) A location is a bit scary at night

Review 110:Price/value ratio Cleanliness Overall best hotel in our (rather budget oriented) Israel trip

Review 111:Location is everything and this hotel is located by the port/docks and the picture of the entrance is cropped so as not to reveal the real surroundings which are quite unattractive and unappealing. The parking lot was located nearby, but was still about 50 meters or so away, and at night it felt unsafe to walk from car to hotel entrance. Didn't feel comfortable leaving rental car there overnight. No room cleaning on the Sabbath, which I felt was inadequate for a suite which cost us double the price of a standard room. Room safe did not work and was not fixed 'til the next day. Hotel has 0 facilities-no gym, bar, restaurant, gift shop nothing.

Review 112:Objectively speaking, the hotel(actually just 1 floor above business offices), is relatively new, modern and clean. The bathroom, and kitchenette were best part of the room, and our suite had a large patio/balcony.

Review 113:There are no "do not disturb" sign and on more than one occasion our door was opened on us in a state of undress or in bed as we did not respond quickly enough to the knock.

Review 114:The front desk is 24/7 and generally extremely helpful. They all speak english and are very professional. The hotel is kept very clean. They make you feel welcome. The facilities are fairly represented in the pictures. Our room offered an close up view of the harbor and beautiful ships. The train station is about a block away! No confusing cab ride with a taxi driver who doesn't speak your language and refuses to turn on the meter is needed! If you are a light sleeper, book this hotel on Friday night as the train does not run on the Shabbat! A very good experience overall!

Review 115:A shower without shower cabin - splashes all over the bathroom.

Review 116:A brand new building, good aircon, very decent location - 3 mins from the train station.

Review 117:- very loud fan in the bathroom (could not be turned off unless the lights were turned off as well). - no shower cabin in the bathroom - everything gets spilled with water whenever you are taking a shower.

Review 118:+ excellent view of the Haifa harbour from the roof + nice and clean room + excellent location - very close to the German colony restaurants and pubs.

Review 119:Noisy trains under the window

Review 120:Very clean. Close to the central train station. Very good fully equiped kitchen in the room. Comfortable bed. Roomy enough. Friendly staff.

Review 121:When you keeping open room's window , some noise coming from the street below

Review 122:Good value for money.friendly staff.I spent one night and had the change to walk in nice places nearby. Clean rooms, fast wifi . I am very satisfied with my choice . When i will go to haifa . I will book again same hotel

Review 123:If you sleep light, ask for a room looking not to the sea (there's a functioning railway between hotel and sea).

Review 124:Surely the best hotel for such price I've stayed at in Israel! Clean, bright and warm room with good sound-proofing and mini-kitchen. Very friendly and responsive staff. Free overnight (16.00-09.00) parking right behind the corner, (ca. 20 NIS for 09.00-16.00). Free safe in the room. Not far from lowest Carmelit station at Paris square.

Review 125:It was sterile, soulless

Review 126:It was close to the train and buss stations and easy to find. It was fine for an overnight stay between a late train and an early buss.

Review 127:Some details have room for improvement, but I am being picky: missing shower curtain in bathroom; poor noise insulation at windows and doors

Review 128:Very fair pricing; good location close to railway station and German Colony; fairly quiet neighborhood; modern; clean; friendly staff

Review 129:We arrived at the hotel late and without a booking and showed the staff the advertised booking.com price. The staff member told us that the website was incorrect and they could not give us a room if we booked online using booking.com. We were required to pay the full price that night (40% extra), and we didn't argue due to the poor English of the staff member. We booked online and got the cheaper rate for the second night. We spoke to the manager on check out and he accused us of lying. Our double bed was actually two singles with separate bedding. We were advised that all "double beds" in the hotel are the same.

Review 130:Location is handy

Review 131:Fire alarms went off daily and VERY Loud.

Review 132:Clean and spacious rooms but Wi-fi reception was poor. Staff was friendly but not knowlegible about local site opening/closing times, especially about Bahii garden and shrine.

The Fine Print

Based on local tax laws, Israeli citizens must pay VAT (Value-Added Tax). This tax is not automatically calculated in the total cost of the reservation, and must be paid at the hotel.
