Reviews for Hotel Green Olive
Review 1:Small detail: sound insulation between rooms nothing to brag about - with luck your neighbours are quiet ones.
Review 2:Room offers very full range of amenities, similar to upscale chain hotels. Wifi access easier and more reliable than at any other hotel I have stayed (quite a few, including five-star ones). Excellent restaurant on site, very reasonably priced. Sound-insulated windows, no noise from outside. Connection with reliable car and driver for tourist sites. Spacious clean shower.
Review 3:Despite excellent facilities (see below), there was one negative experience that spoiled the otherwise very pleasant stay at this hotel. We were two couples in two rooms on the 3rd floor, and a large party on 4th floor made it impossible to sleep during our last night there. Loud music combined with constant tapping of the dancing heels was unbearable. Numerous complaint-calls from us to the front desk were fruitless despite their polite assurance every time that the party would "stop in ten minutes". It finally ended just after midnight, and then the noise from post-party clean-up continued until at least 2:30 am. We had to be up at 6:00 am to leave for Ajanta caves, so it is an understatement to say that we watched the caves with very sleepy eyes. The bottom-line is that the hotel's layout and small size are simply not suitable for guests' comfort and loud parties to coexist. Frankly, it is ridiculous to have a party/banquet facility right above guest rooms when the sound insulation is non existent. The management needs to choose between ensuring the guests' comfort or making extra money by hosting parties; they can't do both, given the constraints of the hotel's layout. I normally stay at higher ranked hotels in India (Taj, Méridien, Crowne Plaza) but given my very positive experience with the quality of Green Olive (and at much lower price), I would have strongly considered staying there in the future. However, the above experience with noise changed my mind, and I will not return. This is a too bad.
Review 4:We booked this hotel somewhat late and almost in desperation as no rooms were available in the more recognizable major hotels. It turned out to be a very pleasant experience with the facilities, which fully matched the previous online reviews. This is a small and cozy hotel, well located, and very well furnished with quality furniture and comfortable beds. Bathrooms are modern and clean. The rooms are a little on the small side but their quality more than makes up for it. The onsite restaurant served superb and authentic Indian food. The service at the front desk and in the restaurant was excellent. The front desk also made all the local travel arrangements for us, and everything went smoothly. The hotel is great value for Money, except for one negative: the noise that I describe below.
Review 5:No View, Dusty and Construction in front of hotel, Small, the road arond hotel hard to walk
Review 6:Best Restaurant, Good Staff, Good Service, not expensive, flexible
Review 7:Rooms, in particular, bathroom, is very tight, overbearing perfume odor in rooms (from cleaning agents) that was mildly irritating for my taste. Linens are old but usable. Wifi is very very slow, not surprising for India. Breakfast buffet is not very good, probably about 1 our of 5. Staff are pleasant but nothing special. A rating of 2.5 out of 5 starts is appropriate.
Review 8:Without much of a choice in Aurangabad, Green Olive Hotel was one of the few choices we had that offered good reviews. Nothing particular to mention that I liked.
Review 9:The restaurant food was very good but I was mildly sick once after eating it.
Review 10:The staff was very helpful with travel arrangements. I made a mistake with my reservation and the staff was very accommodating and flexible in resolving it for me. As a woman travelling alone they made me feel very comfortable. The room was very clean, comfortable and spacious.
Review 11:Location is good- not on a major street, so it does have is advantages.
Review 12:Staff and food was excellent. Facilities very good with excellent shower facilities. Staff were very helpful and polite. Will definitely recommend and stay again.
Review 13:My daughter and I arrived late in the evening after a long journey. WE received a very warm welcome and were given a complimentary glass of fruit juice while we filled out the passport forms. Our twin bedded room was modern and chic and had every facility we needed. WE left early in the morning after a good breakfast to visit The Ellora caves. Our flight was not until the evening and although we would have liked to have kept our room the hotel was full. The manager went out of his way to find us other accommodation to rest and freshen up before our journey. All the staff were wonderful and I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.
Review 14:Had to pay driver cash, would be practical to put on hotel bill and pay with visa.
Review 15:Fabulous food in restaurant! Great shower. Great service overall and response. Lots of TV stations in English or subtitled English. Arranged good driver for trips to Ellora and Ajanta. Good breakfast.
Review 16:The person who seemed to be in charge of the restaurant at dinner time, seemed to me to be inefficient and a bit pretentious. Before ordering we asked if the sizzling lamb plate took very long to prepare and he said no, but it did take a long time and the lamb was chewy. After the meal, he gave me an evaluation to complete, which I did and a couple of things I rated at average. He came back to me and seemed too be challenging my answers which we thought was not only audacious, but rude. If he had seemed to simply want to understand why the rating, I would have been happy to tell him, but that did not appear to us to be the case. Also the breakfast was mediocre. All the food was Indian, except for the eggs made to order (slowly) and the muffins. I might add that the same type of muffins were served everyday and frankly some of them tasted like they were left over from the previous day or days. I stayed in 11 hotels whlle in India and none of them did that and all of them had better breakfasts. While they have a delicious ice tea for dinner, they do not serve it for breakfast and frankly, I find it annoying when a restaurant serves hot tea, but cannot bother to pour it over ice to make iced tea, which seems to me to be a no brainer.
Review 17:The staff, especially the reception staff, were very nice, friendly and helpful. The hotel driver were very good driver and always made himself available, even when it meant returning to the hotel after he had left.
Review 18:Wifi a little patchy but that is standard in India, at least it was included.
Review 19:Excellent customer service, cleanliness and value for money. The restaurant had great food and was not pricey. The staff understood how to provide quality service. 5 star service and cleanliness at 3 star prices! Thanks for making our stay comfortable.
Review 20:No iron in room to press clothes. Clothes get a bit crumpled and need a bit of pressing. All the decorations involved plastic flowers. Too much plastic for a "green" hotel!
Review 21:Friendly and efficient staff. Service with a smile. Able to attend to each guest personally and make each person feel comfortable.
Review 22:Nothing to regret. I felt comfortable and safe. And I was a solo woman concerned about security. Breakfast can be improved a little for western visitors, with wholewheat bread and better fruit jams.
Review 23:Exactly what I expected from previous reviews. Recently built therefore everything seemed new and clean. Room very well equipped, modern and spacious. Staff very kind and helpful. They found a rickshaw taxi and "deal" the tariff for him to take me to a store, wait for me, and take me back to hotel. (I needed a plug adapter!). So the rickshaw dealing or tour arrangements will work for anything you may need during your visit. Indian food was good at the restaurant. Veg and non veg.
Review 24:They deliver newspapers to each room in the morning, but the boys chatted in the corridor and woke us up both days we were there before 7am. The bathroom quickly become a swimming pool after a shower.
Review 25:Very clean, good sized room, very efficient help to organise trip to Ellora and Ajanta.
Review 26:Delicious breakfast with both Indian and continental menu was included with booking. They arranged transport for us to Ajanta and Ellora with a friendly driver who also showed us all the landmarks. Staff is friendly and me and my young daughter enjoyed our stay.
Review 27:Staff at the desk was not friendly and unprofessional compared to the standard of the hotel. The hotel is located next to a very busy and noisy street.
Review 28:Very convinent location if you want to visit the caves nearby. One of the most famous restaurants in the city called "Bhoj Thali Restaurant" is just 5 minutes walk away.
Review 29:Wifi only lasted 24 hours at a time (though it was easy to get new codes - even though I had 2 phones) and was a little slow (though that might be par for the course for Aurangabad) Hotel isn't very near amenities. The shopping/eating area Nirala Bazaar is a medium distance off by foot.
Review 30:Hotel with International standards Very clean Good value Tasty breakfast, with some international dishes (not just Indian food) Good restaurant Got me a good driver at a good rate for the Ajanta/Ellora caves
Review 31:The cleanliness in this hotel was beyond belief. Felt so comfortable from the minute we walked through the door. Blissful beds and amazing showers. Every little detail was spot on. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Review 32:The cleanliness of the place could have been a little better. The location of the place, although close to the bus station and the train station, is not close to other good restaurants.
Review 33:The staff was very friendly and help us in anyways possible to make sure we don't get lost and don't get tricked by other locals
Review 34:General Manager Manish Suryawanshi formally of The Ritz, London is to be congratulated on the way this hotel is run. Smiling, polite and helpful staff join together to create a happy atmosphere. I particularly liked the little things that make a difference such as the aloe vera products in the spotless bathroom and a daily newspaper slid under the door in the morning. Don't think twice about booking this Very reasonably priced hotel - it's a real gem.
Review 35:After travelling for 6 weeks in India, the green olive was one of the most comfortable hotels we stayed in. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, European flair, and excellent restaurant staff and service. A very well managed hotel.
Review 36:No special area in hallway or separate room with a table for the Business Traveler. Yet it is a brand new property so by next time hope they will add one.
Review 37:Brand New! Excellent Restaurant! Beautiful Bar! Cozy! Friendly and Welcoming!
Review 38:They forgot to arrange our breakfast to take with us to the airport on our final morning, which the manager had promised us the night before. Because it was so early in the morning when we left, there were no kitchen staff on duty to do this for us then.
Review 39:The shower was fantastic - great water pressure and dependable hot water. The bed was comfortable and the staff were pleasant.
Review 40:The street is run-down and clogged with traffic, but this description fits the entire town of Aurangabad. One comes here primarilly for visiting the Ellora and Ajanta caves. There is nothing to do in the town itself.
Review 41:New, well-equipped facilities, and very clean. Staff is very attentive and helpful. The restaurant serves delicious food. The best meals I had in during my last visit in India.
Review 42:There is nothing in the area for a tourist to see or do.
Review 43:The hotel is new and very clean. The stuff was polite and helpful. The hotel is located near the bus station and a taxi area. Highly recommended restaurant. Rich breakfast.
Review 44:Wifi for some of our group had issues, as with most places we started at most of staff has pie English.
Review 45:Very good value, amazing restaurant, very good buffet style free breakfast, perfectly located on the main arteries to the airport and Ajunta caves. We had a spectacular surprise birthday dinner at the Restaurant, very agonizing staff.
Review 46:An electronic hum in the bathroom. Lacked instructions on how to use the two remotes - one for TV the other for channel selection. Bathroom tap handle design compromised utility value to look modern. Location not so good due to extensive road construction.
Review 47:Staff were excellent. They went the extra yard. A very extensive menu at the restaurant where the food was excellent.
Review 48:The room wasn't cleaned very thoroughly between nights, the staff was attentive, but awkward. Laundry service didn't do a good job, constant power outages.
Review 49:Staff was very helpful in arranging cars and other things, restaurant was excellent, bed was comfy and wifi worked okay. Furnishings were modern and nice. Good value, would probably stay there again.
Review 50:Occasional power outages meant wifi dropped out. Little expensive
Review 51:Loved the food - we ate all our meals in the restaurant. Very reasonably priced. Bed very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent Small but lovely bathroom Staff was very lovely!!!
Review 52:Staff was really excelent, rooms were clean. Maybe not very big but you can book bigger one. Bathroom was really nice, clean and big, with all needed toiletries.
Review 53:One problem is that the rooms smell like cigarette smoke. Upon checking in, our first room smelled a lot like smoke. We asked to be switched to a non-smoking room, and were moved without a problem. But the second room was just as smokey. Designated non-smoking rooms seem quite rare in India, so we don't expect it. However, the windows can't be opened here to get fresh air into the rooms, so I think it's pertinent to note that the smell of smoke seems inevitable here.
Review 54:Rooms are spacious and decorated with modern and clean furnishings. Bathroom is modern and comfortable. Rooms and bathrooms are really as clean as can be. There is a central air system with temperature controls in the room. If anything, it's too cold! This leaves a somewhat sterile and sealed-off feeling to the room, but it is quite comfortable. Breakfast was very good: plentiful well prepared, good quality food and wide variety. Very polite and accommodating staff at check-in.
Review 55:i was very satisfied by my stay. the hotel is extremely clean and the room had all amenities; wifi worked well. the central bus stand is at walking distance. the restaurant is ok; on the other hand, there are not many options around. the hotel is not cheap, but probably is worth the money.
