Reviews for Central Hotel Tullamore

Review 1:Bathroom floor was a bit sticky!?! Also the water pressure was so strong that it caused the shower curtain to be sucked into the bath - not pleasant... needs to be replaced with a screen.

Review 2:Perfect location in the centre of the town & beside family we were visiting. Staff were very nice. Had a great sleep - bed was really comfy and the hotel was quiet.

Review 3:No smoking throughtout the whole hotel and no smoking area provided.had to go out on the street.unfortunately did not state this on booking information.limited beers on tap.

Review 4:Staff were very helpful.food and service was lovely.dj on new years eve was brilliant.

Review 5:The room was positively manky..... the carpet in the room was in a terrible state ....... the cleanliness took from the overall comfort.

Review 6:Breakfast was good and staff friendly.

Review 7:The girl at reception was so unfriendly very unhelpful was asking advice on parking she was so unhelpful!! Made very little eye contact when I was speaking appeared in a bad mood didn't make me feel welcome like she couldn't care less

Review 8:Rooms were lovely and clean and warm!! Close to everything in town

Review 9:Everything was perfect, no complaints. Great job.

Review 10:We loved the staff, the location, the cleanliness of the hotel. We also loved the price of the rooms we booked. I have been to Ireland many times and my mom and family live in tullamore, the experience was amazing, thank you from the Schulz family.

Review 11:Fantastic hotel, excellent breakfast and lovely staff. Arrived Friday night for one night only as I was on a work Christmas night out. The hotel is so clean and the staff are very friendly and polite.

Review 12:it was beyond a doubt the most uncomfortable night i have ever spent in a hotel. temperates were painfully cold, i was moved room due to the coldness in the first and the second was only marginally better. i slept wearing a jumper and scarf over my nightclothes.

Review 13:location was convenient for my needs and the staff member whom i dealt with in the evening was helpful and pleasant

Review 14:First impressions not good, very run down looking from the outside. Very basic hotel - our triple room was clean but there were many cigarette burns on the carpet and someone also left an iron on the floor burning the carpet. it's very very dated and could do with a bit of a painting or sprucing up.

Review 15:it was fine for our needs, which was a clean place to sleep for a few hours after a Wedding, and should not cost too much, so for us, it was fine. Staff were very nice - breakfast was lovely to be honest. Basic hotel but a little sprucing up would go a long way.

Review 16:The parking facilities are none. Can park outside but it's done by a pay and diaplay and it's costly.

Review 17:Location it's walking distance to the shopping centre. It's a clean hotel

Review 18:Cards for doors were dodgy

Review 19:Great fun had a great wee sing song in bar at end of night into the wee hours. Staff were lovely and helpful. Met lively people?

Review 20:Multi story car park recommended by hotel was in very poor condition. It did not have lights and consequently was very dark. There was a lot of broken glass on the ground.

Review 21:The location, friendly staff, size of room.

Review 22:Very basic, overpriced on this basis...have stayed in hotels with better facilities for a lower price. Breakfast was barely warm and egg was only half cooked

Review 23:Staff were very friendly

Review 24:I had asked for a quiet room but got a room to the front of the hotel which was very noisy on Saturday night. Also asked for tea around 11.30/12 noon but none available in bar - even though alcohol & fizzy drinks were available.

Review 25:Location & Breakfast

Review 26:The noise

Review 27:Very noise people tuning in and out of rooms at 4 in the morning that lasted about an hour and the bed was so uncomfortable a big dip in the mattress

Review 28:Bar neither comfortable or inviting. Price quite high considering basic facilities and didn't include Breakfast

Review 29:Bedroom very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast very good.

Review 30:There was no heating in the room terrible dirty stale smell the carpet was full of stains no entertainment the bar was very brighly lit up too many lights and there was no atmosphere. very expensive considering these problems. We won't stay there again

Review 31:Bath full of previous guests hair, TV switched itself off every 2 mins, bed hard and uncomfortable, noise from busy road i was overlooking kept me awake all night and had to leave window open due to the heat in room. My room 208 was also right next to a room marked as a staff work area which also added extra noise. Would not recommend this hotel based on my experiences.

Review 32:Only thing that was good about this stay was the lady I dealt with at reception who offered me a full room refund.

Review 33:Comfortable room, liked that there was a bath in the bathroom, close to town and shops, staff were friendly and helpful. No complaints and would definitely recommend.

Review 34:Noise from other guests in corridors. Very annoying. Did not report it as felt it was going to stop soon, it did not. .

Review 35:Breakfast great, rooms very good. Staff good all around.

Review 36:Not ourselves but my sister was staying in a room with a balcony and fought someone climbing over her balcony hotel staff were good though and gave her money back

Review 37:A bit expensive most likely because of a major event going on in the area

Review 38:Lovely big room. Comfortable bed Nice breakfast served on hot plate! Music just right in restaurant - not overpowering pop music

Review 39:The overall appearance of the room was very dated. Tables were not cleaned appropriately, my arms were sticking to the dirty table.

Review 40:To summarise my stay here, I feel a major revamp is needed. The carpet was there since day dot, and the toilet facilities were for a disabled person (not what we were looking forward to for the money we paid).

Review 41:Just that we had to move rooms three times because the television wasn't working in the first two.

Review 42:We liked everything were it was five mins from train station the staff were lovely and friendly and couldn't do enough for you.

Review 43:Carpet in room was in need of good cleaning very stained n dirty

Review 44:Hotelspotless and friendly staff largest hotel room I've ever stayed in very dirty carpet only thing that let room down

Review 45:the lack of vending machines with drinks ect. the noise from other guest outside the hotel late at night, still people drinking and smoking outside at 6 am! night porter should have told them to stop.

Review 46:location

Review 47:The only thing was the lack of parking apart from Lidl across the street.

Review 48:Room was on the 3rd floor and was cosy and spacious. We had a wedding to attend the next day and arrived at hotel later in the evening so really didn't get a chance to experience it. Would stay again. Nice view of park from breakfast room

Review 49:The parking garage the hotel directs you to is in very poor condition. Very dark, & many lights are out. Leaving in the dark was not very comforting. Perhaps find another location to direct your guest to that isn't so horror movie-ish.

Review 50:Room was fine. Comfortable. No complaints.

Review 51:They need new mattresses badly. A mattress topper on an old mattress is not acceptable for 129 per night. Small stuff, the plunger in the sink did not fit properly when we wanted to fill the sink.

Review 52:Staff was friendly and helpfull

Review 53:Couldnt sleep on a worn mattress. Springs coming through it and it hid with a mattress topper. Asked to be moved as tv didnt work and becsuse of mattress. Staff were helpfull and moved us but mattress was the same in second room.

Review 54:Nice friendly and helpfull staff. Spotless clean.

Review 55:when checking out the lady at the desk was to busy texting on her mobile to look up & say bye as we left. So I asked her do we owe any money ( as we paid on arrival) & she looked up to say no & I said good bye to her.

Review 56:the bed was very comfortable

Review 57:carpets badly stained in places, although not off putting. Also do not agree that guests should have to make their own toast in the morning..small things I know but these are things which can easily be dealt with.Bar area also needs a bit more thought and planning.

Review 58:Staff not very friendly, no newspaper available, I was disappointed there was no hotel car park

Review 59:Location was great, facilities were perfect for my stay

Review 60:Broken switch on plug for iron. Extractor fan not working in the shower so got quite damp after 3 persons showering.

Review 61:Modern smaller hotel. Comfortable. Central. Room over looking the park and quiet.

Review 62:Again, the iron was non-functional, and the Corby trouser press was disassembled in room 313. The shower leaked and obviously had been doing so for enough time to cause the floor tiles in the bathroom to separate from the underfloor. Even showering with care, and tilting the water away from the walls or the shower curtain, the water from the shower runs out into the bedroom, pooling beneath the carpet. The TV doesn't appear to respond to the remote, but that could simply be a requirement for new batteries. The TV does not appear to change channels manually, and seems to be difficult to switch on. Once on, the only tuned channel appears to be a national radio station.

Review 63:Clean, adequate, no-frills accommodation, with friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. Particular mention to Ciara and Shelly who are always a pleasure to deal with.

Review 64:The stopper in the sink didn't work properly I went to take a show and couldn't because there was not any way to turn on the show it had been broken off ,or taken off ? I then went to have a bath instead and I let the water run into the bath but it was only all hot water I could not get cold water into it so I could not have a bath eather as it was early in the morning an I was leaveing strait way I was totally disgusted

Review 65:I liked the room it was bright and it was a fine big room ,the Hotel is very central and close to the train station that was the reason we picked this Hotel

Review 66:Our room was in the front of hotel. Little noisey with cars and people talking. Few more pints sorted that out.

Review 67:Staff are brilliant. Can't do enough for you. Can't wait to go back.

Review 68:At evening meal at 7pm which wasnt late 3 of us picked a chicken dish to be told after choosing that there was no chicken!! Lift broken morning we leaving had carry our bags down two flights of stairs!

Review 69:Location near everything- nice friendly feeling in hotel

Review 70:Hairs in sink and bath, breakfast wasn't very nice and breakfast staff were very sloppy. No atmosphere in hotel and we even went to a nearby hotel for food and entertainment.

Review 71:Young athlete and coach staying for National Agegroups in Tullamore. Bedroom very comfortable and spacious. Coach felt the breakfast was good enough the athlete thought the breakfast was just ok not really suitable for race day. Most people in Hotel on this weekend were there to compete prices were very stiff for purpose of stay and a little bit of thought could be put into what would be a good breakfast for these athletes who are competing away from home and may not have an opportunity to eat well the rest of the day with qualifying heats and finals sometimes on the same day.

Review 72:Front of house staff indifferent, bath didn't work, stank of cigarettes, stains on floor, dirty outside, very warm and the breakfast was terrible. In fact one of the worst. We didn't even stay for breakfast the next day. Not one person asked us if we were enjoying our stay. I sent them an email with my concerns and they didn't even respond. Not up to standard.

Review 73:Bed was good. Very clean.

Review 74:breakfast does not start until 07.30 , too late for most business people , had to get breakfast else where

Review 75:the comfy bed and location and value for money

Review 76:The sausages were dried up. At reception the shelving entering the bar was coated in dust

Review 77:How well located it is to the town centre. The staff very friendly and at the same time professional. Loved the idea of breakfast being served to guests. The rooms 1st class.

Review 78:Parking around the hotel is not so easy as there is no own parking lot and all parking has to be done either in the street or in a car park some 400 metres away. Breakfast was very mediocre but acceptable.

Review 79:The staff at the reception desk was very friendly and helpful. Comfortable hotel rooms with adequate furniture and a comfortable bed. Be aware that doubles in Ireland do only have one blanket as it may bother some...

Review 80:Could do with new carpet, what was there was very stained. The bed felt like it was ready to collapse didn't feel sturdy at all.

Review 81:Location was perfect, was surprised with how big the room was, and also there was a balcony area which we thought was lovely, it had a nice view of the park. Bathroom was lovely with a good powerful shower. Our room included breakfast which was delicious. All staff were very friendly. We will definitely use this hotel again.

Review 82:Booked two rooms-the cheaper one included breakfast, the dearer one didn't. Hotel room very warm for entire stay.

Review 83:Facilitated a late check in. Staff very friendly. Central location. Spacious rooms.

Review 84:We stayed on July 14th. Staff member at Reception desk was so welcoming and helpful. A small problem with the TV in our room was attended to promptly and courteously. The young lady on duty is a treasure.

Review 85:We were shown to a double room but had booked a triple room .we were informed there were no triple rooms but they could buy a camp bed for my daughter which was unsuitable as she was competing the next day. They did find a triple room which we were allocated. The whole point of this stay over was to be ready for competition the next day. We travelled 3 hours to the hotel but on reflection we would ha e been better staying at home and travelling as the beds were horrific at best we got 3 hours sleep. The noise levels were high.

Review 86:The staff were helpful

Review 87:TV said it had 13 channels available but only had 3; which is difficult with a teenage child in tow. Buffet Breakfast was a bit limited. Bit expensive possibly due to the date we were visiting (Irish Atheltics Champs)

Review 88:Location, quiet and it was clean and tidy. Cooked breakfast was good. Staff very friendly and helpful

Review 89:I have never had a bad experience in this hotel.

Review 90:very friendly staff as always, I am gluten and wheat free and Gluten and wheat free breakfast wasn't a problem.

Review 91:Extractor fan in bathroom was not working but receptionist said she would have it checked. No problem for one night but would have been a problem for longer stay. Only one bath towel for two people, I know I could have asked for another one but didn't. Parking-unsure about safety of car.

Review 92:Hotel was situated beside a park. Room was just like advertising picture. Staff were very friendly and courteous. Breakfast was up until 10.30 and I was able to take breakfast to room for late riser. Check out was at 12 noon.

Review 93:Just one thing. I left an item of clothing behind me on the bed. Didn't realise until it was too late to go back and had no battery on phone. Have been trying to contact hotel since. Cannot get answer on phone. Hopefully will get through eventually and get my item returned.

Review 94:Staff helpful and pleasant. Good location. Rooms nice. Balcony for smokers. Good location. No rush to leave.

Review 95:Nothing.

Review 96:We stayed a night in the Central Hotel Tullamore and found the rooms comfortable and clean. This is a no frills establishment and that is all you will pay for. Breakfast was lovely and the staff very helpful.

Review 97:Unfortunately, although no fault of the hotels, the hotel itself is on a street with several derelict buildings, one right next door had a smashed window which really brought down the tone of the area. Just around the corner is a lovely street full of shops and restaurants though.

Review 98:Large, comfortable, well equipped bedroom.Very helpful Nd friendly young man at the desk when we arrived, the kids loved it.

Review 99:Only small issue would be if the hotel left a few more tea, coffee sachets an milk containers in the room

Review 100:Excellent hotel, good sized clean rooms, friendly helpful staff at reception, bar and breakfast, easy parking outside, good quality cooked and continental breakfast and best value for money in hotel in Tullamore

Review 101:Disabled shower room with torn hose can't be adjusted drowns room when on full power drain seems mighty slow and so room floods i never again want this room also bed was slept in without being changed prior to my arrival.I found key card holder on table and a golf tee on carpet simply not good enough at the prices charged

Review 102:Breakfast

Review 103:General housekeeping average, but in places lacking – room carpet stained & dirty. The lack of free parking for hotel guests, considering other hotels in the area are proving this basic facility.

Review 104:front desk staff Approachable and friendly.

Review 105:We didn't really have any problems apart from the safe in my room was broken. My 3 brothers were sharing a triple room and it was only services for 2 in the room. There wasn't enough milk left in the rooms which we asked for more but didn't get it.

Review 106:The hotel is situated close to all amenities. The staff were friendly. The rooms were specious and comfortable.

Review 107:No proper facilities, breakfast was greasy and under cooked. No TV facilities in first room, toilet was broken in the second room we moved to and this was only for a two night stay!!!,

Review 108:Staff

Review 109:I could find no complaints.

Review 110:The hotel is very central and was easy to fine. Parking was very reasonable and staff were very friendly. Room was very clean and comfortable with all working features. Great value for money. Would return to stay here again.

Review 111:The staff were wonderful. The rooms were well equipped and spotless. We booked room only and then opted in for breakfast on the days when we wanted to eat in the hotel. We booked the breakfast with reception on a day by day basis and it was fantastic value for money at 5 euros a day. The rooms at the back of the hotel overlook a park and are lovely and quiet. They also have bigger, better equipped rooms for business travellers and family rooms with a double and a single bed in.

Review 112:The offsite parking arrangement, cooked breakfast items were very dried out and firm to eat

Review 113:Very polite and helpful staff, warm atmosphere, well maintaned and clean room

Review 114:Location is great, place is clean. Internet is free and quite good. Car park not within the hotel but in a secured (at night ) car park about 200m away so quite convenient.

Review 115:Breakfast excellent but did not choose to eat here in the evening as it was too sterile. The bar meals were not suitable for my husband.

Review 116:It was quiet and comfortable. The hotel was central and met our requirements. The breakfast was excellent and catered for my husbands dietary requirement of Gluten Free.

Review 117:What i didn't like was the fact i traveled so long to get there and i really just wanted to have a relaxing bath but couldn't because there was no staper for the bath

Review 118:I liked the staff they where very nice and very helpful to..i loved the room that me and my family where in it was really nice and we ware Abel to go out for a smoke as we could see are little girl in the room the room also had a nice view and the hotel was only a few minutes walk from the train...

Review 119:Lack of car park facilities, only choice of 2 items on dinner menu, would not be inclined to return again.

Review 120:Very Central to all amenities in Tullamore, no car park at Hotel, car park offered very poor, looked more like a derelict building, very off putting would not park anything there.

Review 121:Enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Friendly, helpful staff, especially evening reception staff and night porter. room was good size and clean , breakfast good and overall the hotel was good value for money

Review 122:Room like sauna very uncomfortable. Woken at 5.30 in morn man got into our room despite door locked and chain put on door. How did someone else have key/swab to our room? Told staff next morn checking out didn't seem to care. Very rough night spoilt next day

Review 123:Bed comfortable Breakfast ok Location good

Review 124:I requested a non smoking room and for it to be away from street level. I was put in a smoking room (it stank) and on the first floor at the street window.I understand they may not be able to facilitate requests but at least one would have been good. It was very noisy, I didn't get much sleep. The room felt very grubbie. It wouldn't take much to bring the rooms up to date, with new carpets, curtains and paint job. The bathroom was in good condition.

Review 125:Not alot, the breakfast was ok and staff at reception were friendly.

Review 126:My parents were very happy with there stay here. They said the place was right in the middle of Tullamore so they did not have to walk far, rooms were clean and you got a good breakfast.

Review 127:On a Saturday night there was no atmosphere in the bar, although advertised all around us including in the room, that they sold food and cocktails neither were available. With a function in the main dining area, all music was off in the bar and children ran all around us,a shame really as the hotel and staff are lovely.

Review 128:The staff were helpful, friendly and gave great recommendations.we visited the tullamore dew distillery and took the guided tour it was great.the room and breakfast couldn't be faulted.

Review 129:No available onsite parking, need to park in parking lot for eur2 a night or take your chances that you won't get clamped on the street or in the lidl parking lot.

Review 130:Friendly staff at reception and bar, lovely interior and warm comfortable spacious bedroom. WiFi, quiet nights sleep, great location in centre with Lidl and chipshop beside you.

Review 131:While the bathroom was very clean, the outside rim of the shower was caked in grime. The carpet was very stained. 2 tea bags and 2 tiny cartons of milk Breakfast was very basic.

Review 132:Good sized room, comfortable beds

Review 133:The staff were exceptional; super friendly, very accommodating and were a great help to us during our stay. The room was much larger than expected. Actually, the room and the hotel in general were much nicer than we'd expected.

Review 134:No phone in room my husband had to get out bed at 340am to go to reception as there was a woman screaming and kicking a door for at least 20 mins but there was no one at reception so we had to put up with it

Review 135:Not a lot room clean staff lovely

Review 136:A small thing, but it was not clear that we could not park overnight in the Lidl car park, in fact the receptionist said it was ok. The bartender then informed us otherwise and warned about wheel clamping. Maybe this fact should be mentioned on arrival.

Review 137:We travelled as a family of 8 for a funeral, so were just looking for an inexpensive place to stay, in the centre of town. We could not believe the high standard of facilities given the rates, from the quality of beds to the hotel decor. The inclusion of all amenities in the room was also a surprise, including iron/board, hairdryer, tea-making, power showers etc. Totally recommended!

The Fine Print

Please note: The restaurant is closed on Sunday evenings.
