Reviews for Bridge House Hotel, Leisure Club & Spa

Review 1:The room & the bed was too small in our room & too expensive for what u get. It was ok for a one night stay or a shopping break but I definitely wouldn't stay here for a relaxing break away.

Review 2:The hotel had a cosy feel in general. We attended a wedding which was very nice & the food was lovely.

Review 3:The only bad feeling we had was having to leave after an excellent 5 day stay.

Review 4:You only have to walk into the reception area to realise you're in for a special stay. Excellent service from all staff, no matter how small the request. Very comfortable rooms. Excellent food in all restaurants and bars.

Review 5:Was extremely disappointed in the bedroom, it was tiny, the kettle was caked in limescale, the TV could hardly pick up channels and the grouting at the front of Bath was all falling off.

Review 6:Beautiful reception area, great food, lovely staff.

Review 7:The car park is ridiculously small. I had park outside Dunnes Stores and pay for parking for that evening and again before 9am the following morning. It is stupid that the Hotel is unable to issue a car park pass for patrons. I stayed in a B&b in the middle of Ballina town and they were able to provide me with a car park pass!!! Because of this I won't be heading back to this hotel anytime soon.

Review 8:Beautiful hotel. Fantastic staff.

Review 9:TV didn't work very well but we weren't too bothered about this.

Review 10:Staff very helpful especially when we couldn't get the shower working. We went for breakfast and they had it sorted by the time we went back to our room.

Review 11:I was in room 319 and the view looks like a bombed area in the middle east. The view was awful. The internet connection was not that great and there was no aircon. Also no small fridge

Review 12:The location is great and the staff were extremely friendly

Review 13:spa not opened on a Monday !! never told this before we booked on a bank holiday weekend! needs a update in rooms ! starting to get shabby

Review 14:pool was good !

Review 15:Ballroom could do with air conditioning as it was too warm

Review 16:Staff were fantastic. We were attending my cousins wedding and they went above and beyond to keep everyone happy .

Review 17:Breakfast wasnt good, asked for spacific things not to be inlcuded in the breakfast plate and neither myself or my spouse got what we requested, people queuing beside our table waiting for ages on toast.

Review 18:very comfy bed, but view from room was bad, dilapidated building with roof fallen in not a great sight from the room.

Review 19:I requested a double room which was quite small, also my "king bed" was two single beds pushed together.

Review 20:I felt very comfortable in the hotel and felt the staff were attentive to my every need.

Review 21:Black water from shower and taps on arrival, water in the morning was barely tepid. Hotel staff did not alert us on check-in nor apologise in any way on check-out and no bottled water was provided. A four-star hotel really should be able to get the basics right.

Review 22:The bed had a spring poking through- a bit uncomfortable. Also, would have been nice to use the spa facility, but emails and phone calls weren't answered and was booked out on our arrival.

Review 23:Lisa was incredibly helpful. Thank you!

Review 24:Boiler went the last night so no not water in the showers or pool which I understand was out of their hands

Review 25:Free upgraded room and flexible staff that served us breakfast

Review 26:Was disappointed with the room. On both nights I stayed there were no spoons in the room for making tea or coffee - there were bedside lamps but they didn't work. Got breakfast delivered to the room on the morning of the wedding but it wasn't nice at all.

Review 27:The wedding I attended was fab - everything was just perfect about it.

Review 28:I had a bad experience as I took this roomessentially to relax and repair my ailments of walking (solo 4 days walking)... the bTn wwater in my bedroom was black! Yes black. I was first told to let the water run... to no avail. Fi ally changed room. Comfortable otherwise, staff very pleasant, but no gratuities other than smiles... wedding hotel, noisy if, as for me, your was placed just above the drinking terrace.

Review 29:Beautiful old hotel right I th centre and shopping at the door. Staff really nice, and receptionist competent.

Review 30:The variety and quality of entertainment provided between the 3 or 4 areas all contained within the hotel. The waiter service in the foyer and library bar was excellent. The evening meal was cooked to a very high standard.

Review 31:We ate in the Italian restaurant, very disappointed with the food, however, we brought it to the attention of the manager and he was very helpful and understanding.

Review 32:Had a very relaxing stay and enjoyed some excellent traditional music in the bar on Sunday night!

Review 33:Nothing they can do no wrong

Review 34:Have been going here for years it's home away from home. The staff from front of desk to the cleaning staff are so welcoming and friendly. A wonderful hotel

Review 35:Our room was old, the carpeting was stained and worn, the bathroom had terrible tile with gaps in it everywhere. The shower pressure was non existent ! Forget eating in the balcony restaurant the food is awful!

Review 36:Main areas of hotel are very nice. The food was marginal at best

Review 37:Hash browns where forgotten a few mornings at breakfast, and would prefer not to be there if wedding parties etc are on.

Review 38:The staff where helpful, there are plenty or areas in which you can relax and varied eating areas.

Review 39:Our first room was cold damp and nothing worked. When we complained about the state of our room we were told there was nothing could be done until the following day as the hotel was fully booked. TBH a hotel with such high ratings there should be no room in this condition. Also there was a wedding going on in the hotel and very little was done to combat the loud revellers passing through the corridors. A loud fight between a couple started at around 4 in the morning next door and when i went to ring reception to complain the phone wasn't working..My 70yr old husband had to go to reception to complain...Totally unacceptable. On the up side the receptionist did what she could the next day and gave us a lovely room but i think our weekend was spoiled at that stage..We were really looking forward to this litlte break for our 40th wedding anniversary...So disappointed.

Review 40:Staff were lovely and done what they could.

Review 41:Room very hot could not turn of heating told staff they said it wud be sorted but sadly not second night still very hot very uncomfortable

Review 42:Breakfast very good

Review 43:The room was very basic and walls very thin, it was unusual not to have temperature control in the room and windows very hard to open. We went to the pool on the last day however lockers were meant to have a padlock which was not provided and therefore no where safe to put possessions. As well as the first locker I tried to use came off its hinges. The hotel in my opinion is not worth its cost and needs some maintenance

Review 44:The breakfast not being buffet was nice however there was only two hot vegetarian options and one morning only one, the lobby is clean and well presented and staff were always friendly

Review 45:The complaint is that my parents at dinner one night had an unpleasant waitress which kinda took away from the dinner but that really could happen anywhere, they weren't going to let one person ruin it for the hotel or their stay :)

Review 46:I was having an evening family gathering of nearly 150 people at the hotel..we had used a function room which is gorgeous, well both of the function rooms I've used are gorgeous. The foyer of hotel is stunning and really does look like the titanic..you really do get a very plush feeling hotel for a great price! Every guest at the event and staying at the hotel only had good things to say about the hotel. tthe staff are tremendous! The events organiser, catriona, is a star! food is AMAZING! !! The swimming pool, sauna etc are great and heard they will be revamping the changing rooms soon. I really do hope we will be able to make again next year.

Review 47:Bed uncomfortable it was two singles pushed together and room was small not what you would expect from a four star

Review 48:Italian restaurant was out of this world Breakfast was excellent Reception area beautiful it was well manned and staff friendly and helpful

Review 49:The room had two single beds pushed together. As s business traveller I travel to a lot of hotels and some do this and it's extremely annoying and uncomfortable. The room décor was old, and the window was wide open in the bedroom when I arrived, and there was a lot of flies in the room which was not nice. The remote control had was not working properly on the tv. It was just little things really that let this hotel down.

Review 50:I liked the location, it was very central. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly and really went beyond to cater to any special requirements I had. The Chef in the kitchen made me whatever food I requested and it was very nice but a bit cold by the time It got to me.

Review 51:Rooms allocated - 302 & 315 -had dirty walls and radiators with chunks of plaster knocked out of wall. I used the stairs to access rooms rather than the lift, the carpets on the 1st&2nd floor stairways were absolutely filthy, with food trays from previous night still on stairwells to be collected ( at 4pm) .Receptionist would not make any eye contact after i complained about rooms and requested a move. We were re-allocated to an Executive room - standard was much better but even here the wardrobe was missing a railing to hang clothes on and the air conditioner was so loud you could not leave it running. This is no where near a 4 Star standard hotel. We will not be returning.

Review 52:Duty Manager - Geraldine - was very professional and helpful when I complained about the room standards. The hotel is very central and the breakfast was a good standard.

Review 53:The shower water leaked out onto the floor. Tried to find the source and adjusted the shower curtain but to no avail. (More an issue for the hotel rather than me)

Review 54:Room was massive and beautifully appointed, so smart. Crisp linen, lovely bed spreads. Big flat screen TV. Plenty of electric plugs and mirrors (for getting ready to go out on the town). We ate in the hotel, beautiful french food (they even made me a meal that wasn't on the menu!), excellent wine list. All the staff were pleasant, helpful and very professional.

Review 55:There is nothing not to like.

Review 56:The Bridge House again living up to its high standards of quality, comfort and location in a vibrant town. We loved everything from it's location to the exquisite food to the quality of our sleep.

Review 57:The hotel facilities are very 'chintzy' and in desperate need of refurbishment to bring it up to standard of a modern hotel. It seems to trade on it's atmosphere. It looks like it is a thriving business. They need to plough money back in. This was the most expensive hotel we stayed in but had the most basic facilities. Water 'squirted' out of the old fashioned taps The breakfast area was a shambles on the day we visited. There was no sugar, salt or teaspoons on any of the tables in one area of the restaurant. Breakfast was made to order rather than helping yourself. Not sure if this is a cost cutting measure

Review 58:Town centre location excellent with free parking We arrived early however our room was ready so were able to offload our cases before we met up with friends. The atmosphere is excellent at this buzzing hotel. Facilities on site are excellent. Various dining experiences including an Italian restaurant which opens in the evenings. There is also the bar area in the pub next door where meals are served all day. Large portions!! Also, live entertainment most nights so plenty to do Large portions in the Italian restaurant (a bit over facing). The food in the Italian restaurant was really good. I was looking forward to apple pie but there was no room after the main course!

Review 59:The bed was uncomfortable, it was quite hard, it was like lying on a wooden board or something equally as uncomfortable. Our key cards didn't work, when we arrived the manager had to use his master key to let us into our room, and on the day we were due to check out we got new key cards which worked, this obviously wasn't ideal because as we were checking out the new key cards weren't going to be much use as we were checking out. Our window didn't close properly, anytime we pushed it up to close it, it slipped back down so it was opened slightly at the top and there were a lot of people outside the hotel so it was quite noisy and we were woken several times because of this. There was also no toilet paper in the bathroom, the next morning we had to ask at reception for some. Our shower didn't work properly, when we turned it to warm, the water was hot. Overall for €99 euros we expected the hotel to be better, especially for a 4* hotel. Would we stay here again? Not if we had any other choice.

Review 60:The staff were lovely and very helpful. We got a last minute deal €99 euro for bed and breakfast. The breakfast was good, just like any other hotel there was a choice of fresh fruit, cereals, fruit juices, tea, coffee and a hot breakfast.

Review 61:The water just wasn't hot enough. I ran a bath both nights - on the first night it was JUST warm enough for a quick bath, on the second night I had to boil the kettle to top it up and it still wasn't warm enough!

Review 62:The hotel was so conveniently located, great to have free parking nearby. Lots of choice for restaurants in the hotel. The room was big and very comfortable. Excellent service from all of the staff.

Review 63:Breakfast- eggs over cooked. Stairs carpet (from 3 rd floor instead of lift) to reception dirty. Cracked tiles in bathroom. Shower curtain signs of mold. Original grouting and tiling poor. Gym machines rusty and damaged.

Review 64:Location

Review 65:Staff totally excellent, a very beautiful hotel... Food excellent... Just was very disappointed in our bedroom... Definitely not a 4*...no valance on bed.. Bed not comfortable... TV dated as so the whole room.... Will come back if we get a better room!!!

Review 66:The layout is a bit all over the place as it fronts onto two different streets. Because the hotel was busy there was quite a lot of noise because the main foyer area is all open plan. There was music from a musician competing with music in the restaurant. There was a major nightclub event in one part of the hotel so we could hear muffled loud music in our room until around 2 am (with windows open). We did not go near the second bar area (where the dance party was on) as it was mega loud. No big deal but that may not be for everyone. The breakfast room is possibly a little dark. The senior waiter (a lady) was tending to be little gruff with colleagues and you could hear them interacting but it wasn't unpleasant as such. Would be happy to stay again.

Review 67:First time staying. My son and I were attending the All Ireland Athletics in Tullamore so we had to stay somewhere. This is not a 4 star hotel in the traditional 'city' style one might expect. This is an authentically Irish and 'country' style hotel providing high quality, friendly and 'no nonsense' service. The staff were very nice. I had the absolute best steak in my life (ever!) and with two portions it was great value for money. Try the 'steak on a stone'. Bar service is excellent, attentive and fast. Bedrooms are very comfortable and pleasant. Very nice breakfast and complimentary newspaper. The hotel was packed with people of all ages having an enjoyable evening on the Saturday that we were there. Do not hesitate to try this hotel.

Review 68:This hotel is situated in the centre of Tullamore within easy walking distance of all the amenities. The hotel is very large and is quite impressive. Large reception area, several bars and restaurants and very nice leisure centre with pool, sauna etc. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The food is good for both dinner and breakfast. We were even able to park right outside the front of the hotel ...for free! Would go back again.
