Reviews for The Perrin Inn

Review 1:I booked in for 1 night and stayed for 5! Being a solo traveller in Ireland for the first time I was a little apprehensive but I had the warmest welcome by both staff and locals. Everyone made me feel at home and I'll definitely book here again.

Review 2:There is a step down into the bathroom. I fell. OK I was rushing but there should be a notice: MIND THE STEP.

Review 3:Location, pleasant staff, great breakfast. 35 euros a night all in is a great price.

Review 4:A very small bedroom. There were 3 of us and we had to move by numbers. No wardrobe, or even anywhere to place a suitcase. Just one bedside table. The shower room was not very clean - bits of mould in shower. Evening meal very basic.

Review 5:Breakfast was good and hot. Excellent parking.

Review 6:The shower needed replacing, it did work but had plastic taped around it.When I returned to my room it had leaked (dripping) out onto the floor after I had turned it off. I would have liked to have been able to make myself a cup of tea, so tea making facilities would have been appreciated. Lastly, I was a little disappointed to find had I just arrived without any booking the cost would have less by 14%. I was under the impression by booking on-line that I would be receiving the best price.

Review 7:All I needed was a clean room and comfortable bed and en-suite bathroom and that's exactly what I got. I did not avail of the breakfast as I was meeting up with others each day.

Review 8:Bad smell in room, heating on and could not turn off, dead insects in windowsill, dirty carpets, mouldy bathroom, hole in bath towel, lumpy bed, you are in a small chalet style house with 3 other rooms - you can hear everything. I had the worst night sleep ever due to being woken at 1 and 2 am when other residents entered front door and by music they played most of night (it was not loud but as I say you can hear everything, other people coughing etc).

Review 9:The location - the village of Glengariff is a nice place to stay for a night or two. The breakfast was good. Staff helpful enough - they are based in bar which is reception for b and b.

Review 10:Loved the hostess, very friendly and accommodating. It suited our needs perfectly, we were in the area for a wedding and couldn't have asked for a better location for somewhere to pop our heads down for the night. No frills, nothing fancy, but friendly, warm and clean.

Review 11:Very little soundproofing between rooms and no black out curtains.

Review 12:Nice pub/restaurant connected to the place but the rooms are away from the pub itself so any noise is minimised.

Review 13:The decor of room while clean and functional was dated and needed an uplift. Broken TV, weak and sometimes non-existent WiFi. No tea making facilities as advertised. Had to ask for a kettle twice. Some staff laid back.

Review 14:Excellent location for exploring the West Cork area. A substantial and varied breakfast, pleasant waiting staff.

Review 15:Rooms were way too small. We couldn't open our suitcase and the door at the same time. The shower had almost no water pressure. There was one outlet in the room for 3 people and that outlet was taken for the TV so charging phones and cameras was difficult. Wifi signal was weak. Breakfast was ok, but hardly anything special. Apart from the hostess, the staff seemed clinically depressed. Overpriced for what you get.

Review 16:The look of this place is quaint and the hostess was nice enough.

Review 17:Would have liked a full length mirror. The only mirror was above the toilet in the bathroom; making it difficult to do hair & makeup.

Review 18:Excellent location, close to walks, shops & pubs/restaurants. Staff were friendly and very helpful, great breakfast. This budget accommodation is great value for money, we would definitely stay again.

Review 19:Rooms not ready and keys missing, staff not sure of prices, tiny rooms, beds uncomfortable, towels frayed, WIFI flakey, FRESH blood spots on quilt, no toilet roll holder, no soap holder in shower - in the morning the roof leaked from the upstairs rooms

Review 20:In the centre of town

Review 21:Top marks for staff, food quality, cleanliness , location and parking. Rooms in houses really novel. Provides basic accommodation but does it well. Travelled solo. Not sure I would have enjoyed accommodation if there had been 2 of us due to room size.

Review 22:Bed extremely uncomfortable- plastic sheeting on top of mattress, and very noisy every time you moved. Room tiny- no space for bags etc. Noisy upstairs occupants midnight til 3am!!

Review 23:Breakfast- although didn't start until 9am

Review 24:This is a good Inn in the centre of Glengarriff which at €35 for a single B&B and only another €10 for a meal & glass of wine is value for money in an area noted for very expensive B&Bs. Highly recommended

Review 25:As a tall person, my rooms ceiling was a bit low.

Review 26:Great staff, great food and drink and a great price. Would recommend to anyone and if I'm in the area I'll be back again.

Review 27:The Staff were great. Very friendly and helpful. Food was good, I took advantage of the evening meal deal. The breakfast was well above par too. The rooms were a good size with plenty to do in the area.

Review 28:The accommodation is based in units set behind the Perrin Inn itself. These units are not particularly useful for this purpose as you can hear your neighbours every move. We for example, were awoken several times due to the guy above us snoring or talking. In fact, you could hear every noise the neighbours made. This is fine if you coming in after having a few beers but if you need a quiet nights rest, unfortunately, I would not recommend staying here.

Review 29:Great location and very friendly staff! Actually, lovely staff!

Review 30:Very uncomfortable bed, tiny room and ensuite. Leaking shower, leaking toilet cistern, low ceiling, tv signal very poor. Meals in pub/restaurant very low quality.

Review 31:Good location

Review 32:This was our second time staying at The Perrin Inn within a couple of weeks. The standard of the rooms and the cleaning varies majorly despite the rooms being identical. First time we went there it was really clean and tidy. This time the rooms didnt seem clean and the linen were full of sand. Very dissapointing 2nd visit.

Review 33:The Perrin Inn is situated in the middle of Glengarriff. Close to everything. Breakfast is nice.

Review 34:The poor noise insulation throughout the property.

Review 35:The breakfast was quite good although on the second day, the cornflakes, baked beans and hash browns failed to put in an appearance....!

Review 36:Rooms was one in a small "house" of four. Shower floor was slippery. Ancient TV didn't work.

Review 37:The staff were friendly. Room was warm.Top class location. Price was excellent.

Review 38:Friendliness Breakfast great and available as late as you wish so good lie-in.Really enjoyed dinners also. Central location nice to watch world go by and beautiful scenery

Review 39:The Xmas period is quite a dull moment for this location, not many attractions open. Place was too quiet sometimes.

Review 40:Breakfast was awesome and the place was quiet. Great shower, cozy rooms.

Review 41:It was insanely cold in my room and I moved my bed closer to the heater and piled on the two comforters in the room and slept terribly. It was a very cold rainy weekend so I have no idea why the heat was turned down so low. The outlets in my room really took hours to fully charge my iPhone and whatnot aaaand my toilet didn't work. It was a pretty miserable overnight experience. Next time I'll invest in the other hotel down the road.

Review 42:Great location and friendly enough staff. Really gorgeous area and town.

Review 43:There could be suggestions of things to do in the area (walks etc); for example a few leaflets on a separate table near the entrance.

Review 44:Everything you would need for a short stop in the town. The room was cozy, service great and breakfast lovely. It was also in the middle of the town, close to all shops and restaurants.

Review 45:The carpet was dirty. Smell of tobacco. Hard beds....absolutely filthy shower!!!!! Dirty walls. Tiny rooms no where to hang clothes. No tea making facilities. No hairdryer. Would not recommend

Review 46:Absolutely nothing about this place would invite me back.

Review 47:top of bedsheets had animal (cat or dog) hair on it. it was disgusting. walls were thin and i could hear neighbours-but i put on ear plugs so wasn't really an issue for me.

Review 48:location of the place was great. staff were friendly and accommodating. breakfast was good. tea making facilities in the room were good. comfortable bed. heating was in full during stay and kept me warm.

Review 49:only complaint would be that walls of rooms must be paper thin.any noise from other rooms could be heard -only a minor detail

Review 50:girl in bar was a Trojan worker and very pleasant to deal with. great value -35 euros for a room and great breakfast.glengarriff a nice village with lots of dining options and a good base from which to explore both bears and sheeps head peninsulas.

Review 51:no chairs or anything you could put your suitcase on, bedside lamp was dangling, no kettle etc for making tea/coffee, shower entrance ways to narrow a big person would not be able to get in!

Review 52:location and very cheap also for single travellers

Review 53:lack of hygiene, the bedroom downstairs in the house was awful & looked unclean. The showers were not good with no toiletries provided. The main pub & restaurant is in need of a complete makeover so we went elsewhaere to eat & cancelled out on the breakfast

Review 54:good location

Review 55:The rooms were in little huts away from the main building which gave it a holiday home feeling. The main building had a very warm cosy feel to it. We were main feel very welcome. It was late when we arrived and food had stopped being served but the waitress very kindly offered us toasted ham cheese and tomato sandwishes which we were only to happy to have. They had a tv and selection of board games to play.

Review 56:For and extra 10 Euro you can dinner and a glass of wine. It was quiet and I got a good sleep. Very good value for money. I liked there was a bar and restaurant as travelling solo I get nervous straying to far from where I'm staying (in case I get lost)

Review 57:The staff could not have been more helpful to us . The rooms are basic and adequate . Tea making facilities can be ordered if needed to avoid clutter. They are made up of 4 rooms in each of a number of cottages. The breakfast was excellent and the bar was very reasonably priced. I would recommend the Perrin to anyone but especially for families and groups of friends. It's in a brilliant location with excellent hiking and cycling routes. It is brilliant value for money accommodation .

Review 58:We had a problem with the t.v. in our room and the manager got it going but shortly after that smoke poured out of it and when I went to report it noone seemed to care until a female staff member came up to us and moved us but our clothes were destroyed with the smell of the smoke, and noone came near us after to see were we ok

Review 59:Room was small, and shower was dirty no shower gell or shampoo, breakfast was not available before 9 am, worst b/b ever, towels were left dirty and bed unmade after first night, I think a visit from a hygiene inspector would result in closure

Review 60:There was a back door in our bedroom made of glass. The sun shone in from 5am waking us No curtain or blind !! The shower had hairs in the tray and black mould creeping up the door The breakfast was overcooked, well burned really and poor standard of food

Review 61:the young staff wer very friendly and helpfull

Review 62:Special request was porridge - they don`t do porridge for breakfast. No fresh fruit, no tin fruit. No croissants/rolls. Put into a bedroom with a small en suite toilet/bathroom in a nearby annexe of houses. No shampoo, no sink stopper. No wardrobe, little space in room with a double and single bed.

Review 63:Clean and functional. Price ok. Breakfast about adequate, usual fry up. Bedroom quiet.

Review 64:Cold dirty rooms that smelt of cats urine. Awful breakfast.

Review 65:Cold room, no shampoo

Review 66:Good breakfast

Review 67:The curtains were too light , so it was too bright in the room from very early, and bed wasn't very comfortable

Review 80:blockout curtains would help dim the security lights

Review 81:Size of the room and the walls where paper thin. Lots of noise when other guests where coming and going.

Review 82:Location, staff and food

Review 83:Excellent value for money, friendly staff lovely food, and biker friendly

Review 84:Noisy guests! It was basic accommodation, but nothing amiss with it.
