Hotel Sipan descritpion

Hotel Sipan is at the front of a 1.5 miles long bay in the charming fishing village of Šipanska Luka, facing west towards the unique beauty of the Elaphiti Islands and only .5 miles from a sandy beach. Several other small gravel beaches can be found around the bay.
Sipan Island is only 9 nautical miles from Dubrovnik. With its mix of restored stone houses, luxury villas and historic churches, Šipanska Luka is one of those rare places where old customs and traditions are still alive.
You will be waking up to the sound of crickets, the fragrant blossoms of rosemary and the sea and end the day with stunning sunsets that redden the sky and the mountains.
In the area, you can visit a shop with local specialties, the imposing Skočibuha Castle and the Church of the Holy Spirit in Suđurađ.
Several hiking and walking paths, as well as bike and kayak rentals, are available nearby. Private shuttle services are also available directly with the hotel.

Reviews for Hotel Sipan

Review 1:We ate dinner in the hotel once and it was a bit average compared with the restaurants right on the door step. To be fair that was only one dinner, so perhaps we were unlucky?

Review 2:This hotel manages to combine being incredibly good value with being a lovely, relaxing place to stay. The room was very well appointed and the bed was really comfortable. It's in a great location with a choice of lovely local restaurants less than 5 minutes walk away. Although there is no pool, the hotel is on the quayside and there is a beautiful cove with small cafe as well as sun loungers and parasols (to rent) a 10-minute stroll away. Breakfast buffet was plentiful. Staff always very helpful. We also hired bikes for a half day and cycled over to Suderad.

Review 3:I loved my stay at Hotel Sipan. It is situated in a beautiful harbour with a small beach nearby. Delicious food at local restaurants. Breakfast at hotel has lovely selection for a small hotel including some hot food. Lovely staff and locals. A small supermarket nearby. Idyllic safe place for children. Stunning location. Crystal clear water.

Review 4:If you want nightlife and lots going on, on the doorstep probably not for you

Review 5:A real find, we stayed B&B at this hotel and got a great deal. The weather was better than normal for the time of year, in fact far too hot. The facilities were excellent and the staff were really helpful. There are only about 7 restaurants in the port and prices were about that of the UK but the food was really good especially if you enjoy seafood. Similar menus at each except for a pizza/pasta place. The rooms were well presented, a little tired in some areas but generally for the price it was spot on. We had a view of the sea and it was truely wonderful. Breakfast each morning had plenty of choice including fresh fruit and yogurts, If you want a relaxing holiday this is a great place. You can visit the local islands easy enough and only for about £3 for the ferry it's great value. Day trips to Dubronik are also recommended. The hotel can organise most local activities for you as well. A small local beach gives way to some sandy clear waters, watch out for pebbles and sea urchins so bring sea shoes!!!

Review 6:Location was stunning. Very quiet island but good for a complete rest. Small beach 10 min walk away.Just a few restaurants and bars. Hotel was lovely. Excellent breakfasts taken on the terrace with THAT VIEW.

Review 7:There were too many bees at the outdoor seating area of the hotel's restaurant. We had to move indoors on several occasions.

Review 8:We really loved the hotel and town. It is a very quaint and cozy town. There are several great restaurants in the immediate area and you can rent bikes from the hotel to explore the island.

Review 9:Half board evening food was of a poor standard. Atmosphere in hotel was lacking.

Review 10:location is great, dining area/terrace is fantastic and the overall cleanliness and decor of the building is excellent.

Review 11:Pity about the sewage smell in the bathroom of the upgraded room. When showers and toilets are linked to the same tubing it is necessary for u bends to be installed to alleviate this small problem.

Review 12:Quiet and peaceful tranquil setting for evening meal by the water's edge. The company gave us an upgrade on our room unexpectedly.

Review 13:Nothing regarding hotel. Car ferry lines to the island are poor. It is simpler to arrive without a car by more regular boat line, leaving a car in Dubrovnik Port Gruz.

Review 14:Everything! After a long time, place which gave us just about everything it advertised. 15 feet from the sea, calm and restful, value for money and friendly, helpful staff. Free parking. Many lone and beautiful beaches just 0,4 miles from the hotel.

Review 15:no iron for disposal even was rejected upon request, pillows were the nightnare, mades outside of the door were chatting very loud already at 8 am, could enter the room for cleaning with no permission. The little soap was provided just twice in 12 days of staying.

Review 16:Breakfast was very good, close to the sea, nice view, good library

Review 17:No bad experience.

Review 18:Upgraded to a wonderful room with balcony and glorious views of the bay. Courteous and helpful staff. Wide choice for breakfast with fresh bread, croissants, fruit, eggs etc. Something for everyone.

Review 19:Super comfortable hotel room in a cute little town. The room with the view had a small window but the sunset from the room was worth it. Short walk to a beach and to a mini market. Great place to take some time to relax.

Review 20:Food not as good as smaller restaurants nearby particularly 'Taurus'. Better value for money with a higher quality of food and fresh ingredients from sea and garden. (Frozen prawns in a prawn salad at the hotel was very disappointing!)

Review 21:Idyllic setting of hotel.

Review 22:Shower was tiny which is strange as there definitely is room for a bigger one. Beach is about a 10 min walk away and is quite small.

Review 23:Beautiful view from the balcony, good value for money, tasty breakfast and nice staff.

Review 24:Some small niggles: the safe didn't work and we had some initial problems with the plumbing (soon fixed)

Review 25:The location is wonderful; right at the head of an inlet.

Review 26:Tiny pebble beach will be crowded during peak season. Was very dirtywhen we were there had to be cleaned every day but he didnt do a goodjob !. Toilet was locked and very badly maintained. Dont pay with euroas our booking sites suggested. We did and had to show them our bookingto get them to accept it they still charged us a handling fee. Dont goto the single restaurant on the right side of island very rude and veryexpensive. Hes only looking for large bookings so he doesnt give a damif you stay or go.

Review 27:A lovely hotel in a beautiful setting, quality for peanuts. Staff veryhelpful and knowledgeable. If yout looking for relaxation, I cant praiseit enough. Enough restaurants to keep you well fed and watered duringthe whole day. Its a small island you can walk from one side to theother in an hour so not to taxing. But other than the small ports ofSipan and sudorad there's not much to do So bring a few books. Isuggest you come here for a couple of days after visiting the old cityto calm down. If this island had a regular ferry service to the mainland it would cost a lot more as it is its well worth the money.

Review 28:Breakfast was a bit of hit or miss. Restuarant/bar in the hotel had absolutly no atmosphere, the sound of the ice cream machine could be heard whirring away in the corner. Local beach was dirty.

Review 29:Peaceful location and wonderful views, woth paying for a sea view room. Good choice of restaurants to eat in in the village. Good bus service to Sudarad for the ferry to Islands and main land.

Review 30:Breakfast room / restaurant lacked atmosphere , more like a canteen. However , this was end of September and in warmer weather , we assume all meals would be outside.

Review 31:Generally good standard of room , reception , bathroom , location.

Review 32:the attic rooms were too small and the bed was not comfortable. Also the bathroom and shower were way too small and there was no drawers to store your clothes. bed was not comfortable.

Review 33:the location the food and the staff were very helpful and polite

Review 34:The beach towels provided were smelly and full of stains. The towels in the bathroom had holes. The breakfast buffet was very scarce, watered orange juice, hardly any choice of food, no sweets at all, and 10 min before 10 am every tray is already empty and it will not be refilled. One can tell that they are cutting costs and sparing in every detail and that is irritating.

Review 35:The location, directly in front of the sea on a lovely and quiet bay. The decoration of the rooms.

Review 36:nothing everything was perfect

Review 37:Location was amazing views from our hotel were stunning. The hotel staff could not do enough for us and the breakfast was fab. Would love to stay there again on the top of my list for next year,

Review 38:No where to relax outside, which considering the location was a disappointment. Breakfast was disappointing - quality and choice not great. Staff very pleasant but didn't go out of their way to help. Shower was very cramped

Review 39:The location was fabulous. The view from the room was lovely, although no balcony. The island was very quiet and relaxed.

Review 40:The staff at breakfast were not very friendly. A smile and a welcome costs nothing! The breakfast itself felt as though food was being rationed at times. A place to kick back and enjoy the sunshine and views ie sun loungers, would be lovely as the beach in Luka is poor - although again it could be nicer with a bit of investment.

Review 41:This hotel has a fantastic location with beautiful views of the bay of Luka. Reception staff were generally very helpful.

Review 42:Food in hotel restaurant (lunch / eve) quite average and pork dish was poor quality.

Review 43:Location unbeatable - beautiful view from room. Unspoilt, peaceful, just right for 3 days. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Rooms spotlessly clean. Hotel arranged private transfer from airport which worked like clockwork - a lovely way to arrive. Regular bus service outside hotel to other side of island, where we rented bicycles one day and took a ferry to nearby Lopud on another. A couple of very nice restaurants located very near to hotel.

Review 44:Breakfast wasn't marvellous but still better than most places in Croatia!

Review 45:Gorgeous room overlooking the ocean. Very close to the ferry port, supermarket and beach. Great for couples.

Review 46:too short of stay.

Review 47:everything

Review 48:Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Staff were excellent. Highly recommended.

Review 49:nothing

Review 50:Fabulous location overlooking beautiful inlet . Quiet and away from the crowds - if you want to get away from it all this is the place

Review 51:Tranquility, location, attitude

Review 52:Nothing

Review 53:All, great stuff, that helps in all questions. Sipan and Hotel Sipan must recommended to visit

Review 54:Stunning location. Very quiet and peaceful and relaxing.

Review 55:This hotel is indeed the central place of Šipanska Luka. Boats park right in front of hotel's restaurant. Dining there feels like life in Monaco.

Review 56:poor food (dinner) Room was not clean No private beach

Review 57:Great staf

Review 58:Scuba diving mentioned in the web page wasn't anymore available in the island.

Review 59:Nice and quiet location.

Review 60:Excellent value for money. The staff are really nice and the island is gorgeous!

Review 61:No Tea & Coffee in the rooms. Poor service in the restaurant. Breakfast was hit and miss. House keeping very poor

Review 62:location was delightful.

Review 63:Great for us but if you stop more than 1 or 2 nights, not a lot to do on the island

Review 64:Clean, friendly, right on the harbour

Review 65:Bad combination with public transport

Review 66:Very friendly & helpful staff & hotel was central to other places

Review 67:A typical Croatian welcome at the hotel. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient and the hotel was situated in a beautiful location.

Review 68:The staff are great - very helpful and kind. Breakfast was fab and everything is beautiful

Review 69:poor restaurant food

Review 70:staff service and attitude situation

Review 71:Gorgeous location in a wonderful quiet village. The perfect retreat after Dubrovnik's crowds!

Review 72:beds are not so comfortable

Review 73:Peaceful, nice design, beautiful view...

Review 74:The very small shower and bathroom.

Review 75:Sitting at the hotel close to the harbour. Food was good.

Review 76:Breakfast Bed quality Bed cleanliness Poor wifi

Review 77:Location Staff Food

Review 78:A little noisy outside early morning due to harbour location but did not affect our stay

Review 79:Very clean, modern facility with comfortable, spacious room and a fantastic view. Staff very attentive and helpful

Review 80:Staff were rather reserved. No tea/coffee making facilities in room.

Review 81:Beautiful location with stunning views from bedroom and the terrace at the front of the hotel. Modern décor, comfortable room.

Review 82:Staff were vague and seemed partially trained. No hot water on first morning - breakfast buffet would have been preferable to their system

Review 83:Location and peace - lack of tourist tat

Review 84:One very small issue - could not get a hot or cold drink as no serviceafter 10 pm on a Saturday night

Review 85:V quiet and tranquil. Good food at Hotel and local restaurants. Staffvery friendly and helpful

Review 86:Location - No beach, the cocktail bar was completely unstaffed, nothing to do. The bus to the hotel is very unreliable and if you catch a later ferry to the island then you have to pay an extortionate fee to a local to take you to the hotel. Staff - sullen, poorly trained, and seemed to have been instructed to save as much money as humanly possible at any cost. Food - Awful. Very poor variety. Very expensive. 'Ham omelette' was in fact undercooked lunch meat. The 'variety of meats' was grilled hot-dogs. Only one meal available each night and it remained the same, every night. The Room - The bathroom flooded after a short shower and remained flooded until someone was sent up the following day. The view was of the car-park. The window didn't really open.

Review 87:Nothing. Completely surpassed our expectations.

Review 88:The hotel is in a breathtaking location with various amazing restaurants nearby. A relatively untouched paradise.

Review 89:The island, which is very beautifull, amaizing sea, the bay, palm trees , the comfort, the hotel, the hotel staff amability, the quietness of the island.

Review 90:brilliant location peaceful surroundings prompt bus to help connection to other islands and mainland small village but you can get most things walking trails led to good views

Review 91:Hotel buffet restaurant was terrible. There was barely any food left and it was cold. Food tasted like it had been there for hours. When we mentioned about the food quality to the staff, they said there was noting they could do even though there were cooking extra food for other clients. Buffet price was also extremely high considering quality.

Review 92:Hotel has an excellent location in Sipan island. Comfortable and clean rooms with stylish decoration. AC was working well.

Review 93:Air conditioning in the room was not properly working, the dinner buffet was quite poor, the beach nearby was not good and also the sea in sipanska luka is not so good like the rest of the island

Review 94:Breakfast was good

Review 95:Breakfast was a bit ordinary - good enough but not quite up to the standard of the hotel itself Information about how to reach the hotel from Dubrovnik was limited and led to some confusion about ferries to and buses on the island - although the hotel did step in to 'rescue' us

Review 96:Beautiful location Newly renovated so very comfortable and pleasant Excellent value Helpful staff - on the whole

Review 97:No information on site how to get there. (Go to port in dubrovnik get ferry then get bus to other side of island). Need to book everywhere to eat but they dont take names so can lie. Beach is small and is sandy by dubrovnik standards but not by normal standards, still plenty of rocks walking into water.

Review 98:Quiet area. Near beach but its not sandy by normal standards. Lovely restaurants but NEED to reserve. Very comfortable. Very pretty

Review 99:We spent there three nights of our honeymoon. On the first night the air condition did not work in our room, so we had to open the window, but we could not sleep because near to the hotel a crowd was yelling and laughing really loud till like 3:00 am. On the first morning there we told at the reception tat we are leaving because it is not a room where you can not sleep. They offered an other room with air condition, so our second night was OK. The room was perfect. But for the third night they put us into a third room, that was air conditioned but stinky and dirty. As an extra the rooms we spent the 1st and 3rd night in, did not have a safe but the rules of the hotel declared that we have to put our values in that. I was sad and felt the situation dehumiliating beause they knew that it is not easy to leave the island because of the car ferry timetable.

Review 100:The interiour is perfectly desinged. They offered us a free dinner as a solatium for the troubles of the forst night. One of the recepcionist was honest and simpathetic.

Review 101:Kayak hire has moved and no solo kayaks Nowhere to dry towels and wetclothes No balcony No-one cleaned our room and bathroom because wehad a siesta

Review 102:The buffet breakfast The view of the sea as the doors opened Thefriendly receptionist Two windows in bedroom (107) and village view ofchurch tower

Review 103:A mix up with our rooms took a long time to sort out when paying - reception staff obviously not communicating to each other clearly enough

Review 104:Nice modern rooms Lovely location, right on the water

Review 105:The rooms could have been better dusted.

Review 106:We were looking for a quiet place to relax away from the summer frenzy and we found it. Perfect for 4 days with different possible activities.

Review 107:No bus connection between 1 to 4 Pm on sunday. Call the hotel for The taxi service if u plan to arrive at this time in The island

Review 108:Beautiful view, nice and clean rooms

Review 109:- local beach was small, pebbled and not well kept. We brought air pads and were fine. - no lounge chairs or umbrellaa available at the local beach - hiking trails up the hillside were poorly marked

Review 110:- friendly and helpful staff - strong air conditioner - beautiful location on the harbor's edge - absolute relaxation point as there is little to do other than swim, kayak, stroll and enjoy great seafood, hike, and local wine - two small grocery markets with all you need - post office where you can exchange currency or draw local currency - four restaurants along the dockside...all good...one very good! - clear blue water - watching the boats come and go.

Review 111:The fact that there was no air conditioning! They did upgrade us but it doesn't make up for that. The food was not brilliant either-the hotel was only about a third full so we would suggest at that capacity they should individually cook breakfasts rather than having hot food sitting for ages.

Review 112:The staff and the location-beautiful views and easy access

Review 113:room was a bit small and breakfast wasn't really much options.

Review 114:The staff was really friendly and helpful, the made our stay more comfortable. Lovely place to stay and very clean. we definitely come back and stay there again.

Review 115:quiet peaceful location, friendly staff, good breakfast, nice room with beautiful views.

Review 116:The hotel would benefit from a swimming pool.

Review 117:There must be more transportation from island to the hotel.

Review 118:Hotel's staffs were very friendly.

Review 119:Friendly staff, right in front of the sea, clean modern, good breakfast

Review 120:The air conditioning is the room wasnt working and the staff hasnt offered to do anything about it.

Review 121:Great location, clean and quiet.

Review 122:No air condition working

Review 123:Peace and quiet

Review 124:Excellent Service. Very service minded staff. Nice clean rooms.
