Reviews for Park Hotel Kenmare

Review 1:Was disappointed to see the wine in the dining room had screw top bottles.

Review 2:Felt pampered, treated like royalty. It was our ruby anniversary, the room upgrade and champagne in room was a lovely gesture. Our stay will always be a special memory. We will return for our next big celebration, but will take a longer stay,1 night is not enough to explore the surroundings. The chef was captured picking fresh herbs from the garden, brilliant

Review 3:The furnishings and ambiance was very 'tired'. Looks the same as 30 years ago

Review 4:Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff as well as the location

Review 5:Everything!!! I was celebrating my 60th birthday with a close friend of mine and the whole hotel experience was absolutely lovely. We didn't want to leave. We didn't think we had the use of the leisure facilities after checking out but all we had to do was ask, there was no problem. We left our room at noon dressed in our white spa dressing gowns and slippers and were able to go straight downstairs to the pool. Our bags were brought to the lobby for us. We spent almost three hours there in a totally relaxing atmosphere and came away most refreshed. Delicious food. Beautiful room with breathtaking view of the bay. Ten out of ten to the kind and friendly staff and the lovely warm welcome we received when we arrived on Sunday afternoon. It was like walking into a happy family household. Most enjoyable stay. Will be back!!!

Review 6:Breakfast is expensive at almost 25 euro per person but kenmare has a couple of great cafes so not a big deal.

Review 7:Everything - Especially the staff who were so friendly and helpful.

Review 8:Internet access was spotty and slow.

Review 9:Impressive Victorian interior design, decor, paintings, fresh flower, arrangements, furniture tthroughout the 19c building. Beautiful crisp table linens and period table settings adorn both the formal dining room and the casual dining room. The bedrooms are very comfortable with antique furniture, lamps and real paintings. The beds are very comfortable and have soft fine sheets. The grounds are beautifully taken care of with a variety of trees and bushes. And we loved the new building with the lap pool, sauna, spa, and changing rooms!

Review 10:The rooms although very nice and comfortable didn't have as luxurious a feel as you might expect, the bathroom was small and didn't feel 5*.

Review 11:The location and charm of the hotel was excellent. The staff where thorough and helpful as well as very professional. The spa facilities were well thought out and it has an excellent lap pool, lastly it has that little bit of personality which can make a location and we as a group really enjoyed our stay, oh and afternoon tea was brilliant.

Review 12:I didn't get to meet Francis brennan

Review 13:We were there for one night as part of our honeymoon when we got there they told us they upgraded us to a suite and had champagne and homemade biscuits for us really nice of them

Review 14:quality of the welcome and the total comfort of the bedroom and the hotel sitting room. the breakfast was excellent. walks near the hotel were very accessible.

Review 15:Pressure in the shower was not great!

Review 16:Great location and the staff were excellent. They were sensitive to your requirements but not over bearing, as can be the case with some Hotels.

Review 17:The hotel is expensive so it should include admittance to all the facilities.A complimentary cup of tea on arrival would be nice.

Review 18:The walks around the grounds. Fab pool. The pictures on the walls.

Review 19:nothing

Review 20:everything, the staff were absolutely marvellous. nothing was too much trouble. staff went out of the way too help and make our stay unforgettable. i would rate the hotel 15 0ut 0f 10

Review 21:No value for money really. We got a room with a shared terrace (back yard) but the door would not open properly . We asked reception to help and they were very helpful but kept telling us that there was a " knack to opening the door" which means that they were aware of it not working properly. I am sorry but for a supposed 5 star hotel these problems should not be there in the first place. The room decor is old and jaded looking. Our room was situated all the way at the back of the hotel with an emergency door accessing the car park. Out side the door was a drain that stank really badly!!! I have been told that the owners have a TV show advising other hoteliers on how to run a property. I think they should spend some time at home to be honest. We stayed in the Brehon hotel in Killarney the following night and it was on a different level with everything perfect. So disappointed with this hotel.

Review 22:The staff are very friendly and helpful.Fantastic breakfast! Beautiful setting.

Review 23:Service could have been better. Ordered tea and scones to the room andcancelled the order after waiting over an hour for it to arrive.

Review 24:Amazing property and the room and decor are beautiful.

Review 25:I was a little miffed that they charged 5.50 euros for a espresso and not good coffee.

Review 26:Always a pleasure to visit here. Close to everything in Kenmare. Lovely rooms filled to the brim with antiques. Old school and happy that the subservient curtsying has been left the building! Young french lad who we did not get his name but was fantastic explaining the many varieties of whiskey they have collected! One bottle that is 18,000 euros and 900 for a dram. Had a wonderful lunch and dinner and breakfast as well. Great chef's.

Review 27:The walk from the room to the spa and swimmingpool

Review 28:The friendly and efficient Staff. The warm welcome. The ambeience and comfort of the Hotel. The surrounding countryside.

Review 29:Didn't have a bad experience, however I would have liked tea/coffee making facility and an iron in the room.

Review 30:Location is excellent. Staff amazingly friendly and helpful.

Review 31:This was my 3rd stay in the park and only this time I feel I have to say it, the bathrooms need renovating, they are 80's style and need a makeover, "At your service!" the rooms are magnificent with all the antique furniture, this hotel is s very special place.

Review 32:It is a in a place of spectacular beauty, the spa surroundings in the middle of 100 foot high trees is a sight to behold.

Review 33:The bed smelled musty. The mattress was hard and we felt the springs. The sheets were rough and the pillows were flat. My husband and I requested a king bed and ended up with 2 beds separately made and pushed together... in an elegant suite. The room was beautiful but the couches were more comfortable than the beds.

Review 34:Beautiful location, grounds, views, and some extraordinarily friendly and helpful staff.

Review 35:Lack of night time entertainment. No catalyst for interaction between guests. Piano/player isolated in remote corner.Gone are the days of the Kerry dancers! JACUZZI?

Review 36:Setting excellent. Staff were lovely.

Review 37:- They charge €5 for a small cup of coffee. It wasn't even Starbucks quality or quantity for such a Starbucks price! I understand that this is a nicer, more expensive hotel, but jeez. - It was super hot on the way to the swimming pool and my husband about died of heat stroke in the changing room. - I was surprised about the bathroom not being completely modern. But then again, the hotel isn't advertised as being modern.

Review 38:Gorgeous place and the swimming pool was super modern and wonderful.

Review 39:Deterioration of Detail in Accommodation and Spa/Pool Annex. Attention to Detail if you don't chose to dine out on the comprehensive menu. Average Food.

Review 40:The Focus and Value of Staff on Guest Satisfaction. They are Truly World Class!

Review 41:Shower/bath area narrow.

Review 42:Location,pool,comfort.wonderful staff so polite, efficient & friendly.food was excellent, breakfast beautifully presented.

Review 43:We had a wonderful time. Nothing to say here.

Review 44:The bed was the most comfortable bed we have ever experienced, much to our surprise. The staff was very helpful and personable. We were upgraded due to it being our honeymoon and had the most beautiful room overlooking the gardens/bay. We did not try the breakfast, but the location to town center is fabulous. The whole property is just beautiful.

Review 45:I had a lovely suite with rather a lot of old but not v attractive furniture in it.

Review 46:Staff could not have been more helpful. The swimming pool is the best I have ever come across in a hotel.

Review 47:i found the bed uncomfortable it was 2 singles joined. i requested fruit for breakfast without apple to be told it was already made up.

Review 48:the friendliness of the residents and the politeness of staff

Review 49:The only thing was the first morning my porridge was cold also the cocktails were a bit pricey less pricey and I would have had more

Review 50:There was something for everyone the spa for me and the hike walk for my husband

Review 51:service comfort style food environment This is my idea of a hotel. Beautiful, well kept, high quality service, absolute comfort and all steeped in history!

Review 52:Bed linen as aged as the building! Pillows shocking! Bathrooms very old and in need of a bit of TLC. Toilet had flushing issues. Shower just an ordinary shower head in the bath, nothing special for the star rating of the hotel. To be honest over priced.

Review 53:Old world hotel in fabulous surroundings! Fantastic location, very friendly, efficient and helpful staff. Luxurious spa, very modern, contrast between old and new buildings very well done. Quiet and serene, nothing to be heard first thing in the morning or late at night.

Review 54:Unusual to ring the front door bell after 11.30pm to find out that the night staff don't carry a beeper with them, which sounds when you ring the door bell.

Review 55:the staff had the perfect balance of looking after your every need and allowing you to enjoy your down time. True 5 star.

Review 56:went to bar to bring 2 pints of lager to room. Barman said he would bring them up. Was charged €19. €10 was for barman bringing drink too room.

Review 57:breakfast

Review 58:I would have preferred music in lounge to be a little more uplifting. ..jazz or blues...and perhaps more reasonably priced wines for those of us who might push the boat out more than others!

Review 59:The size of our room...The stunning view....beautiful gardens...food and wine!

Review 60:We were in a double room but our bed was two single beds put together and the sheets over them, a double room should be a double bed.

Review 61:Everything was fab, also got to meet Francis.

Review 62:Loved the friendly and efficient staff, magnificent food, comfortable bedroom and spotless bathroom. Pool area was beautiful and again, spotless - lovely range of toileteries too!

Review 63:The pillows were too soft for my liking, but apart from that it was lovely. I would say it is pricey, not a place you could spent a two week holiday in. But over all a very enjoyable stay. Thank you.

Review 64:Two worlds, the old Hotel, and the new Spa. The view from the out door pool, was the best for me. But the two blend in together. Service excellent, setting stunning. A lot of thought put in the rooms. I could picture Francis setting there to see if every thing was in place.

Review 65:Taste of the food was at best mediocre and the service was slow notwithstanding fine dining.

Review 66:Beautiful views from the bedroom, comfortable and clean overall

Review 67:Didn't like paying extra for side orders on meals steak should come with oions mushrooms and chips not €5 extra for each on this would make my steak €29 plus €15 -- € 44 f too expensive

Review 68:no tea making facilities, decor a little tired, one member of staff too keen all over the guests

Review 69:location,walks,spa,helpful staff, fourposter bed so comfortable,

Review 70:Everything was perfect!

Review 71:We loved everything about our stay - the warm welcome, open fires, amazing food, views of the garden and Kenmare Bay and most of all the spa and treatments. Wouldn't change a thing!

Review 72:Everything from opening the big hall door to the complimentary bike ride while my wife relaxed with a spa treatment....and meeting Francis, what a pure gentleman. . . .

Review 73:Warm welcome and very friendly and helpful staff. The food was scrumptious and service excellent.Hotel was lovely and warm and very clean and comfortable-a very enjoyable and relaxing break.

Review 74:Shower very weak No newspapers in the mornings

Review 75:Love the proactivity of staff-extremely attentive Food excellent throughout Every walk in the hotel is interesting from pictures to, and in particular, furnishings

Review 76:The room was pokey and dark. The bed cover was faded and tired looking and I removed it when I entered the room. The wardrobe was very small and unsteady and the rail was pointing outwards as opposed to across which made it impossible to hang clothes in it. The bathroom was very small and the bath was chipped and dirty round the plug hole. The towel rail hung over the toilet which I didn't think was very good as one slip and they were all immersed in the wc. The darkness of the room and lack of freshness was the worst. The pool was poorly signposted and there was no lift to it from our floor. I thought it would have more facilities than just a pool and sauna....if there was a steam room I missed it. Pool area very dark and dismal and no staff on hand to help us with anything. Maybe I expected too much but if you pay £335 for one night bed and breakfast I thought it would be outstanding. A buffet area would be nice at breakfast rather than ordering everything at the table. I did not get what I ordered and it took forever to get a second pot of tea.

Review 77:I liked the location and the hotel in general was very old world as I expected. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Review 78:to be honest everything was excellent maybe the towels were a little hard but at least they were nice and large.

Review 79:The general appearance and surroundings.peaceful. Staff could not have done anymore for us Loved the piano music playing throughout our meal and afterwards very calming.Pianist could maybe interact with the audience in bar a bit more ie a particular tune people might like to hear ect.,

Review 80:Room 120 was a great disappointment. It is too antiquated for real comfort. The rug is continuously creasing and the couch creeks loudly when you sit on it.

Review 81:The service was excellent. The barman, Mathew, was outstanding company The location close to the town was perfect..

Review 82:I didn't understand the track up and down to the pool. I would have loved if there were shorter treatments like a massage only etc. I loved the food but my male companions would have welcomed more irish food and portions sizes even in the bar food menu.

Review 83:Well cared and catered for lovely ambience nothing a problem beautiful setting

Review 84:Sound proofing between rooms is not as good as a 5 star should be. Need to have some spelt based options in the menus

Review 85:Staff Food Spa Views overall ambience

Review 86:Staff were fantastic , nothing was a problem, they couldn't do enough. Especially liked the home cinema and the yummy fresh popcorn supplied ! Would also recommend having cocktails in the lounge with piano after 7pm :)

Review 87:room a little cold....no air con....telly a little weak....prices are very high, but then u know that when u book....drink prices ott......

Review 88:the service...the pomp....the standards....the food...the room....the nice car park....the walks....the location......the porter....the reception staff....

Review 89:No iron/board or tea/coffee in the bedroom

Review 90:Fantastic location. The hotel overlooks to the rear a lovely countryside setting. Then a few hundred yards from the front door is the picturesque vibrant town of Kenmare. Best of both worlds

Review 91:Loved the whole experience, what a fabulous hotel. The food was amazing.

Review 92:Very relaxing

Review 93:The staff and relaxed comfortable atmosphere

Review 94:Dated Decor Supplement to access Spa Pools Price (Value for Money)

Review 96:No tea/coffee facilities in bedrooms

Review 97:It was a family celebration for my mothers 90th birthday and the staff made it very special for her

Review 98:The staff were first class, from the door man to the manager, they could not have been more helpful

Review 99:Nothing

Review 100:Staff, food and ambience

Review 103:THE WHOLE AMBIENCE OF THE HOTEL.

Review 104:It was a journey back in time to a place of beauty and luxury. The grounds and hotel are exquisite

Review 105:Evening meal was disappointing. Breakfast not included in the room rate

Review 106:Very luxurious hotel, very helpful friendly staff.

Review 107:Rooms. Too. Pricey and. Had to pay extra for the use of thermal suiite
