Reviews for Art Gallery Hotel
Review 1:On booking.com, it says free cancellation. When I came to check-in, before I gave him my credit card, I asked if I could see the room, to which he responded, "It's non-refundable, so you have to take it anyway." I said, "I can show you in the email I got from booking.com, that I can cancel for free. You don't even have any payment method for me!" He replied "Well, I can show you, we have a non-refundable policy, and if you leave now, I will charge you." Wasn't interested in arguing, but his attitude was lousy throughout the check-in. In addition, my room smelled like cigarette smoke, even though the rooms are nonsmoking. From booking.com: One older child or adult is charged 40 % of the room stay per night and person in an extra bed. The maximum number of total guests in a room is 3. We should have been charged $36 for the third bed and were instead charged $41. Not the end of the world, but there was a lack of honesty throughout. Overall, not impressed with the service.
Review 2:Rooms were small but comfortable. The staff at check-out was very polite and easy to deal with.
Review 3:The A/C was just over the bed. Minibar was empty. Old facilities which should be renewed. The bathroom was flooded after showering.
Review 4:The central location although a car is obligate to go to the beach.
Review 5:The information was a bit misleading concerning parking, but we were able to find public parking a few blocks down. There is not much in the area of the hotel for restaurants.
Review 6:The staff was extremely friendly and the hotel was a short walk, about 20 minutes to the German Colony. There is a nice terrace on the top floor to see Haifa.
Review 7:The assistance of the reception manager with city plans and information regarding public transport, the reserved room, the availability of water cooker with a choice of coffees and teas in the room, the publicly available books for reading in the lobby and the offer of a guided tour on architectural and arts highlights of Haifa
Review 8:-Location is dreadful - Difficult to find hotel - Rooms are dirty with hair in bathroom and old untide towels -Wi-Fi doesn't connect on either of 5 devices - Extremely noise location, no sound isolation
Review 9:Reception staff was friendly. Pet friendly location
Review 10:Noisy, some problems with cleanliness..
Review 11:THE STAFF!!! All of them are so polite and friendly!!! Thaks a lot!!! The location is good, the breakfast is a bit poor, but it's good if you stay not so long..
Review 12:The parking was not as advertised. Only a few spaces in the hotel lot. There was no hairdryer in the room.
Review 13:The grandchildren were enthralled by the art throughout the hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooftop balcony had a marvellous view and picnic tables.
Review 14:Very small room, with worn out furniture, some of it falling apart... Very basic bath, with a bathtub that needs replacing and no toiletries. Room was not very clean, and sound insolation is horrible. Can hear all the other rooms, the hallway, as well as every truck driving down the street. Neighborhood is problematic - apart from the hotel itself, all the surroundings are not very pleasant on the eyes and not fun to walk in.
Review 15:Staff was friendly, got the room early, nice balcony with great views of Haifa.
Review 16:room was tiny, fold out bed for 3rd adult in our group, yet paying 5 star price. No bathroom toiletries, just soap dispenser.
Review 17:art on the terrace, staff were very helpful and eager to please.
Review 18:Everything good really, although the car parking was a bit tight, to say the least.
Review 19:Although located on a fairly typical local Israeli shopping street, the hotel is a liitle oasis of artistic calm. Great view across Haifa Bay from the roof, and lots of interesting artwork all across the hotel.
Review 20:Location. Area is not pleasant and no nice outloooks Entrance to parking is terribly narrow and parking area is most unfriendly to say the least
Review 21:Nice room. Friendly staff. Good and generous breakfast
Review 22:PARKING, don't believe them when they say free parking available. The "lot" fits about 6 cars and they had better be very small ones, otherwise you'll be paying for parking next door. While breakfast as filling you also don't get any choices really ( other than do you want an omlette, fried, or scrambled eggs) and the service for two of the three mornings was terrible. So bad in fact one of the other hotel guests apologized to me about how bad the service was. You can't stop your car and check in and that has many problems, you have no idea where to go or how to do it vis a vis signing in. Not English speaking friendly either.
Review 23:location was pretty good if you don't mind not being by the beach. Rooms were clean and appropriate, staff for the most part was helpful. It was a good value for the price The art all over the hotel was very interesting.
Review 24:The room was very small
Review 25:The hotel was on the main bus route which made getting around very easy,On shabbat there was a walking tour of the area which was most enjoyable
Review 26:Parking is too small.
Review 27:A cup of geeting drink offered by friendly staff is a very impression. location is good. a lots of art painting along the floors and room.
Review 28:The first room didn't have a good tv, nor did the second. There wasn't enough pillows and they wouldn't bring us extra. By the time we got back to the room after breakfast our towels were gone. The breakfast was poor compared to other hotels in Israel. I could go on, but I won't. Needless to say I would not recommend this hotel
Review 29:Not much. See below under what I didn't like.
Review 30:Parking lot was small and difficult to maneuver in. Housekeeping staff could have been more efficient and thorough.
Review 31:The front desk staff was very helpful and went out of their way to assist us. Breakfast was pretty good especially when it was served in the cafe versus the breakfast room. Free parking and Internet were a plus The decor in the common spaces was interesting and the roof top deck was worth a visit for the view.
Review 32:We did not lack the whole facilities, the breakfast, the location in a street where nobody could park, the lack of cleanliness, the mould, the need for a through refurbishing.
Review 33:Only the staff was good.
Review 34:Actually nothing was not good. We only missed the little shampoo on the room to wash our hair. It was not a big issue we bought our own shampoo etc. but I just expected it to be there. Also the minibar was empty. This was also not a big problem because there are shops in the neigboorhood.
Review 35:The staff was very helpfull and we got an upgrade for our booking. The room we had was very nice and clean and very spacius. There was free coffee and tea on the room. The breakfast was good and right around the corner with a view on the street. A bus stop is very close by.
Review 36:According to booking web you show breakfast included but in the vacherI find meal is not an option, immediatly I called the hotel and talkedwith dany, he told me that breakfast included, in the hotel staffrefuse to talk with dany, he told me that according to my bookingbreakfast including , but upon our arrival to hotel they told us thatwe can leave if we are not satisfied?? The problem started with bookingweb side which shows breakfast as including such us 99% of hotels inisrael, but after printing the vaucher I find meal not an option Itherefore called the hotel to find out !!! but as I sade they told meafter they look to my booking that breakfast including?? Then afterthey show us the door out ??IF THERE IS PROBLEMS WITH BOOKING WEB SIDE YOU IN BOOKING SHOUD LET US KNOW AND NOT TO LEAVE US FIGHT WITH HOTEL STAFF, I ACCORDINGLY BLAME BOOKING WITH THIS BAD AFFAIR, AND HAVE TO THINK MORE BEFOR ANY DICISSION TO BOOK VIA YOU AGAIN.
Review 37:Nothing from the hotel may be only the location !!!!!!!
Review 38:Location was terrible. Street was noisy at night, dogs barking and smelled disgusting. We were supposed to have a three person suite but you couldn't get from the bed to bathroom with out jumping over another cot. It was claustrophobic . Air con was not strong enough. There was no free parking like the web site mentioned, just a few spots that were taken.
Review 39:Rooms were clean.
Review 40:What I didnt like: -the internet/WIFI. As a spoiled eu citizen Idont want to relogin every minute. Sometimes extremily frustrated aboutit. Maybe some lousy firewall config -the availeble 2 PCs run xp andfairly slow. Didnt use them cuz after 5 mins I give up and go back tophone -the gym running thing got really noisy especially using it goinguphill. -For me (1.92m) the bed was too short which sucked, the showerwas too low but doable
Review 41:What I liked: -the price (at least compared to other nearby places asfar as I could discover) -the staff was very very friendly and helpful. The cleanstaff didnt speak English but they were kind too anyway >thereception asked me if everything was okay; I said there was some dustunder the beds (frankly in clauset and on some furniture too); but thelady was shocked and send someone right away (even though I said its okI put it back under the bed) >one day they appearently missed my roomcleaning, they instantly brought me towels and asked if they can doanything right now >the women would tell me about haifa on her owninitiative, I liked it >the man is very welcoming and friendly! :-)-the hotel has a nice balcony, u can see across the sea -has a gym - beit a bit cumbersome, but who cares? Airco + tv there -new towelseveryday -I think the location Hadar is nice, it has a busstop withmultiple lines. Shop on the corner.
Review 42:Only one set of towels were provided, small restaurant and difficult access for the disabled.
Review 43:We were a group of 13 people who booked through different agents, although the hotel management were intuitive enough to know we were together and put us up on the same floor. The staff were very nice and very accommodating. the hotel was comfortable and any shortcomings were made up by the positive attitude and friendliness of the staff and management.
Review 44:The area of the hotel is a little bit boring for young couple, unless you are mobile by vehicle.
Review 45:The service was real good by the staff. There was free parking. There was a nice breakfast which was included. There was a free tour in Haifa for the hotel guests.
Review 46:Rooms were a bit small. Although there is a no-smoking policy, the room we received was obviously previously occupied by smokers, but we had no problem changing rooms.
Review 47:The attendant (Yehoash) at reception was very accomodating and helpful. Breakfast was very good. We were offered a free walking tour but unfortunately could not participate. Instead we enjoyed the quiet room.
Review 48:This is a wonderful hotel located on the hills of Haifa. The view from the roof terrace is beautiful. The room was nice and clean. The staff was very helpful. Downstairs is a cafe, attached to the hotel, where breakfast is served. There is parking in the back but only suitable for small cars.
Review 49:Booked a superior double room, got a tin can. Small room, the bed was extremely uncomfortable. Shower has a funny smell. I won't come back and I can't recommend the place.
Review 50:Nice art. Very nice balcony.
Review 51:Breakfast served to table and service very inefficient . Only one member of staff to serve all guests and it took forever.
Review 52:Reception staff very helpful
Review 53:Very friendly staff and nice room
Review 54:There is no plug in the bath
Review 55:Very good !
Review 56:Phone in the room did not work. My wife had trouble calling me from outside.
Review 57:Superior room not superior.
Review 58:near to gardens but they are always closed
Review 59:from the outside it looks really dirty; the location was not its strongest side
Review 60:staff was very helpful and rooms were clean and tidy
Review 61:complicated tv system
Review 62:location and view
Review 63:Location Dani Vibe
Review 64:no parking smoking smell in the room no choice in the breakfast
Review 65:I loved the hotel's special atmosphere which is created using contemporary art. My room was small but I had my own balcony and bathtub.
Review 66:in all the services that they provided, something went wrong: airconditioning didnt work (and apparently it was not the first time; but they did the effort to bring a fan to our room, off course thats not the same), they mention that there was free parking (and reservation is not possible) but we had we had to park the car on the street, wifi was available but you had to go back to the reception and ask for the password. Should these things wouldnt happened we would give them a perfect score!
Review 67:clean, good breakfast, nice room, everything that you expect for this price
Review 68:March 2014 was a constructon area in front of the hotel, which was very noisy. Parking area was sometimes overcrowded and very narrow.
Review 69:Centrally located, nice and uncommon ambiente. Predominantly very friendly and helpful stuff.
Review 70:Breakfast can be better, yet we were around on Easter and my guess is that it is richer during the rest of the year
Review 71:We went to the Haifa festival for Childrens' theatre, and the hotel was 5 minutes walk from the park where the festival took place. It is also within walking distance from the science museum, another lovely attraction for Children. The hotel is pretty basic in services, yet clean, friendly and full of art which makes it special.
Review 72:Lobby WiFi worked but it didn't work in our room and no one was able to fix it.
Review 73:Well decorated throughout in contemporary design. Appealing and varied art on exhibit. Lovely Israeli breakfasts.
Review 74:When I called two weeks ago to confirm the booking (four rooms) the manager claimed he had no record of my booking. He also overcharged me ($100 !) for a second child in the family suite.
Review 75:The breakfast was not the best one in Israel, but it does not really matter.
Review 76:Very nive place, with lots of art works on the walls, very nice views of the city, not far away from the tourist attractions and from many many restaurants and shops.
Review 77:Breakfast: The breakfast room was not very welcoming, the staff could not handle the number of guests, and the breakfast was rather poor.
Review 78:The exposed art in the hotel. Very interesting.
Review 79:Though the WiFi was free, it was slow at peak times. There is only a partial barrier for the shower/tub, so when taking a shower a lot of water would end up on the floor. We had daily room service, so the clean up wasn't a problem.
Review 80:The mattress and pillows were comfortable. We slept very well. It was convenient for my husband to smoke outside on the 5th floor balcony, which had a view of the city and some of the Baha'i gardens. There is a major bus stop by the hotel. Very convenient. There are also a lot of produce stands and stores in the vicinity. Staff at the hotel was very attentive and friendly.
Review 81:A poor Wi-Fi connection that makes you enter a username and a password every time you want to use the internet (every session). Several tasteless art exhibits.
Review 82:Comfortable small lobby with many nice books about art and tourism. Nice balcony on the floors of the rooms halls.
Review 83:Very disappointing breakfast, no choice, sweet bread and 2-3 types of cottage cheese + eggs + tuna. Can be a bit noisy from the street during the day.
Review 84:Very pleasant hotel with friendly and helpful staff. We loved the idea of displaying pieces of art in the hotel. Nice terrace overlooking the city, clean room, small gym.
Review 85:Everythinh. SmaLl romm, NO amenities at all, I have never been in a hotel that had absolutely no amenities.bathroom was not clean and water poured out every time you took a shoawe. The towels were very thin and small. Front desk staff were friendly
Review 86:Nothing
Review 87:The hotel was absolutely a disaster: location was extremely bad, the building itself was not in good conditions, the room was very small and the bathroom like probably a one/ two stars. The experience was really unpleasant.
Review 88:Wi-fi is free but very difficult to catch it (we lived on the 5th floor). Breakfast is served by stuff - we needed to wait to catch somebody.
Review 89:We arrived late in the evening and got SUITE room instead of Standard double - beacuse all of them very busy already. That was a very pleasant surprise. Huge balcony, city view, good location. Extremely helpful stuff. Really ART hotel - some nice sculptures, pictures - nice and interesting idea to decorate the hotel. Tasty breakfast.
Review 90:1) The room is about 12 m2 and not 22 m2 as promised. The bed was 1.40 meters width. I suppose that I received single room instead double room.2) In the bath room just liquid soap. 3) Very poor breakfast. 4) Noise from thr street, close to station of buses. 5) My impression is that the 2 stars is too much for this hotel. I think that 2 stars is faire enough according the room size and the breakfast.
Review 91:The room was not very clean and the location is not convenient: there is a 20 minutes walk to the restaurants in the german colony.
Review 92:The staff was very kind and helpful. The breakfast was good.
Review 93:The setting is noisy. The price is right for a 4 star but this is not worthy of 4 stars. Breakfast was very bad and the staff at breakfast was very unfriendly.
Review 94:This hotel is not a 4 star. The breakfast was not up to standard and the breakfast staff was very unfriendly.
Review 95:The part of town in which the hotel is located is not especially fun for walking around in the evening. There are very few neighborhood restaurants.
Review 96:The staff was extraordinarily helpful. The art was beautiful. The view of Haifa was wonderful. The bus connections to the rest of the city were very good.
Review 97:hard, if not dangerous, to park. fridge did not function. safe was difficult to use. no street entrance.... location not a great neighborhood, but ok, not scary....just a middle class business area.
Review 98:good value front desk people great. breakfast fabulous....fresh, made to order meal. Very artsy...clean rooms. Good water pressure for shower.
Review 99:Generally the hotel has left Very good impressions, only besides onething - breakfast. Guys, you really should do something about it. Forone night stay it couldn't have spoiled our impression, but ifyou'r staing longer - it probably can. The waitress was as helpfulas in the soviet canteen, to put it mildly, and the food choice wasextremly poor, for this money breakfast could be much more varied.
Review 100:The hotel is really intrestingly decorated, it felt pleasant to staythere, like on the island of art. The room was nice and clean, probablynot big enough for someone, but it was really just perfect for us. Thearea is quite shabby, though I would say it is characteristic of thewhole Haifa, except the centre, that is 15 minutes walk from the hotel, which is also just fine. Guy at the reception was very helpfull, a/cworked well, tea and coffee in the room served as a very nicecompliment.
Review 101:Breakfast facilities were a bit basic and the breakfast itself as well. I suggest to facilitate guests with an open buffet menu, so everyone could grab whatever suits them best.
Review 102:The professionalism of the staff was unquestionable and they were very helpful, as well: I was assisted with any query I had. Bed was very comfortable.
Review 103:The location wasn't great as it was in a pretty scummy dodgeyneighbourhood however a 10 minute walk down the road will take you tothe central German colony. The bathroom also wasn't up to hotelstandard but rather a hostel or guesthouse standard
Review 104:Great price and value for money. Very clean place and it really feltlike a hotel.
Review 105:Rooms were quite dirty (stains, dust, etc) and faucet even backed up. Had horrible service, as beds were not made and had to ask multiple times for basic maintenance requests. In general quite possibly one of the worst hotels I have stayed at in my life.
Review 106:Unfortunately the hotel is located in a strange location of Haifa, close to a market similar to a typical Russian market. While walking around the hotel you have the feeling of being somewhere in Odessa with broken and dusty streets, with lots of Russians and money exchange places.
Review 107:Beautiful hotel with an exquisite and fascinating art gallery. The terrace upstairs offers a panoramic view over Haifa. Wonderful and helpful personnel staff especially Ms. Schlomit. Excellent location for breakfast in a coffee place with a welcoming chief cook (however not his wife :().
Review 108:Nice and helpful staff. the breakfast was good. the hotel got a big balcony on the upper floor with great sea view. bottom line - great value for money!
Review 109:the art and design created a beautiful, timeless and peaceful oasis in the middle of a buzzing city. i was sick and the staff brought me food to the room and were so kind!
Review 110:La taille des chambres, un peu petites Le manque de double vitrage pour isoler contre le bruit de la rue
Review 111:La qualité du service et du personnel Le bon petit-déjeuner Les œuvres d'art dans tout l'hôtel
Review 112:Great beds, very clean, friendly and helpful staff, lovely artworks, quirky boutique hotel in inner city slightly down market - butlively andinteresting - location
Review 113:The proximity to all that Haifa has to offer is great. The art work in the hotel gives food for thought and prompts discussion. The roof top views and quirky sculptures are unusual and pleasing. Staff helpful.
Review 114:Not in love with location, although safe, a little funky
Review 115:The hotel was very unusual in that each floor had amazing art work, and their patio was magnificent, both in views and decor? Breakfast was amazing!!!
Review 116:Noise from outside due to heavy traffic in front and at the backof hotel / accesto parking a little bit difficult / fewplaces available
Review 117:Breakfast , people very welcome to guests , equipments and facilities inthe room / rooms small but as I said comfortable ; free internet
Review 118:November 2012. Major roadworks right outside the hotel which continuedthroughout the night. Terribly noisy resulting in hardly any sleep.Booked for 5 nights but left after 3. Staff promised to refund moneyinto my account but 2 weeks later nothing!!!
Review 119:Breakfast was enjoyable especially the omelette.
Review 120:1- They had road work outside the hotel 2- The rooms smelled ,, really bad 3- I booked trebile room , they gave doubles ,, which I did not like as I have children 4- Park space tight , small and hard to grt into it ,, which my car was damaged 5- Breakfast very poor ??
Review 121:we were students on vacation, the staff was very friendly and courteous, they upgraded our room and were helpful with directions. the hotel was very clean and centrally located to all the sights we wanted to see in Haifa, as well as close to the Carmelit
Review 122:Location! The worst quarter in all the city. Recommendation to stay ornot depends on goal of the guest. I was in business trip and made mychoose only by location (near to the hospital), but was badly surprisedwhen arrived to the hotel in the evening and revealed it near to durtycity market with its suspicious population. This downtown is near enoghtto beach. Actually the market is very cheap and maybe for somebody it isan authentic experience to buy something there,
Review 123:Freindly staff. I was relocated to the near hotel (Theodor), since aircondition in my room was broken. Teodor seems to be good for his price, clean, quite, woderfull panoramic view from upper floors.
Review 124:They say it is a boutique hotel, nothing like that. Dirty, loud, in the middle of the market. Breakfast Is terrible. No lobby. 2 star maximum not a 4 star hotel...
Review 125:There was no fridge/ mini-bar, though it was announced on the website. When I asked of it they said that mini-bars were no use so they decidedto remove them. There were no tea/coffee maker as well though it wasalso mentioned on the booking site. And the safety box didn't work...They said 'o, probably that's something wrong with the battery, we'llfix it'. It took them several hours to fix it, but the next day thesafety box stopped working again. The place is also quite noisy. I wouldchoose another hotel next time.
Review 126:Good location near the old city, there is a bus stop nearby from whichyou can easily get anywhere. Good wi-fi connection in the room, friendlystaff. Breakfast is also ok (tea/coffee, eggs, some salad, sandwiches).
Review 127:I stayed at Art Gallery hotel for 1 night. I enjoyed it very much. I had to work in the evening and a free WI FI was very convenient for me. The room and the hotel itself are very clean. Location is excellent!!! The service was very good. Breakfast is great. This concept of art exhibitions at the hotel is very unique and I loved it very much. I reccommend this hotel both to couples or businessmen and families with children.
Review 128:I think the great discount is because there is alot of construction next to the hotel. Not the best place for a sleep til noon relaxing vacation. But if you want a cute boutique hotel, with interestting art, in the center of town for a good price, and you're planning on waking up by 7:30am anyway to sitesee, it's your best bet.
Review 129:We got a special rate of $99. For that price it's the best option in Haifa
Review 130:I had a pleasure staying at the Art Gallery hotel. I loved so much this art concept of the hotel. I've never been at the art hotel before. Its location is very good, it's close to everywhere! All the shopping area is only minutes away.Tea and coffee corner in the room and also a free WI FI. The hotel is very clean and I loved the rich breakfast they served. I will definitely come back there!!
