Reviews for Hótel Eyvindará

Review 1:Because there only seemed to be one member of staff we had to wait to check in as she's gone to the shops. If you don't have a hire car this place might be tricky to get to as it's out of town.

Review 2:Gwen was really welcoming, and seemed to be running the whole place by herself. The cottages are really cute, with wooden verandas and views of the trees. Breakfast was usual Icelandic fare.

Review 3:the review thing asks me "what did you like" as if it was just one thing, it was everything. literally everything! the owners and staff where amazingly friendly (by far the nicest people I've met in all of Iceland & possibly the world), the hotel is insanely beautiful, and even the northern lights came out and danced around my first night!

Review 4:Staff was excellent, they showed us the best restaurants in town, great breakfast, very friendly, showed us to our room upon checking in to make sure we were satisfied, just outside of city limits with great sunset views!

Review 5:We booked a cottage and we loved it! Really friendly staff, the cottage was so cozy and situated in a small forest. The cottages were not in a row like many others we saw on our trip in iceland. Each of them had it's own privacy and through the windows you just saw the forest. We took the chance at this accomodation to cook on our own and the cookware was so clean! We absolutely loved it there! Breakfast was nothing extra ordinary, but it really was okay.

Review 6:Instead of two adjacent cottages with each a kitchenette, which had been pre-booked for more than nine months, we ended up with one cottage and one hotelroom without a kitchenette. That was definitely downgrading with the lack of goodwill to adjust the charged price accordingly. Thumbs down!!!!

Review 7:Quiet setting, clean and relatively new accomodation, breakfast okay

Review 8:I cannot think of a bad experience here. It is a little bit out in the country but not too hard to find

Review 9:My first review was not valid as the picture of the place looked like another place that I stayed. This place was quite nice and everyone was friendly. The walkways are dotted with little people and we bumped into a rabbit who was also friendly. The breakfast was good and well attended.

Review 10:No TV

Review 11:Breakfast was very good, lots of variety including hot egg and sausage dish and plenty of fresh fruit. Rooms were super clean and room to move around. Owners friendly. Did not have dinner there but should have. Would recommend this hotel. Good outdoor seating area.

Review 12:No common room/TV. And wifi was not very good in room, worked downstairs.

Review 13:The buffet dinner was excellent, local produce showcased very well. Friendly staff that told us where to see the puffins, was a great experience.

Review 14:Wifi clogs up when too many people are using it (e.g. in the restaurant).

Review 15:The staff were amazingly knowledgeable and could give us advice on where to go, how long it'd take, safety precautions to consider, road conditions, and so on, and even suggest places that wouldn't appear on the standard tourist guides. I think it's because they go off on trips on their off days, so they have first hand experience. Eyvindara should consider running a tour guide service! Other than that, the hotel facilities, like most other places we stayed around iceland, were top notch. Slightly more expensive than other places, but it seems worth it for the comfort.

Review 16:We had two single beds when we booked a double, we just pushed them together, not worth making a fuss about. And the toilet was in with shower and sink and shared by 4 bedrooms atleast. Rooms all quite close together, luckily everyone was pretty quiet but I imagine others might have heard our alarms going off :)

Review 17:Great views, comfy beds, lovely location.

Review 18:Wifi in our part of the building didn't work so I had to sit in the lobby. It worked in other rooms but ours was too far from the modem.

Review 19:Staff member told us where to see the volcano. Food was very good, both breakfast and dinner

Review 20:We had a cabin unit - provided a lot of privacy. Owner was very friendly. Hotel is away from the main streets and still very accessible to petrol station and supermarket.

Review 21:Wished they were still serving dinners:-))

Review 22:Stayed here in a cottage for two nights. In a good location to visit the fjords, shops, gas, restaurants nearby. Bountiful breakfast included. Reception staff were incredibly kind and helpful.

Review 23:Nothing, it was great!

Review 24:A warm welcome very comfortable room great location good home cooked locally sourced food. The staff went out their way to make us welcome and fetched us from our room to see the Northern Lights: real icing on the cake!

Review 25:A bit pricey, but then again, typical pricing for Iceland.

Review 26:This place is more than we expected! Modern rooms, clean bathrooms, hot water did not smell like sulfur. Dinner at hotel was good and portions are huge (buffet style salad and veggies). The son briefly spoke about the town and sang 2 traditional Icelandic songs - we could tell lots of love and thought went into this place! We stayed in a room in another building separate from main house. Recommend to request these rooms! They have floor to ceiling windows and balcony overlooking the valley to the city.

Review 27:not very suitable for travellers without a car - located far from the city on a hill - good for hiking and walking to the town in a good weather, on your way back - better take a taxi.

Review 28:Fantastic view from your own terrace, very clean and cosy rooms full of light in a good weather, very friendly staff.

Review 29:We slept in the room independent from the main building: it was impratical by rainy weather: the pavment outside was in works, then mud in the room

Review 30:The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a quiet area, the room is clean and comfortable.

Review 31:wifi only available in main lobby

Review 32:nice location out in the woods, a bit far from the main town; friendly staff; great breakfast

Review 33:A TV in the room would have been nice

Review 34:Very nice large room, cosy, quiet and clean. I would certainly stay there again.

Review 35:heel vriendelijk personeel.

Review 36:We had a chalet surrounded by woodland

Review 37:Very small room. No TV. Very overpriced

Review 38:Cleanliness

Review 39:Hard beds.

Review 40:Great breakfast, helpful staff. Beds not so great.

Review 41:Loved this hotel. What a view!

Review 42:cabin too small, no cupboards, kitchen needs more equipment

Review 43:welcome by staff

Review 44:Enjoyed the cabin, very helpful staff, easy to get to fjordjurs.

Review 45:This day breakfast was quite late. Unable to use wi-fi on computer.

Review 46:Room was simple, staff is nice, breakfast is correct.

Review 47:No place to put anything in bathroom, no outlet for dryer.

Review 48:Cabins nicely spaced in woods.

Review 49:there's a supermarket nearby the hotel

Review 50:Our fridge did not work

Review 51:We enjoyed the wood cabin as it was toasty warm and there was heavy snow outside. The staff were very friendly.

Review 62:No closets in room , and in bathroom

Review 63:None

Review 64:Breakfast very good and very good variety

Review 65:Noisy ventilation was fixed quickly.

Review 66:The proprietors & staff are terific. They know the area and recommended the mist fantastic tours. The view from the room ober the valley is awesome. The food excellent. Definitly the first choice in Egilstadir.

Review 67:It lies a bit outside Egilsstadir, so a car is recomended. Weird times (breakfast only until 9??). No televison set, not even in a common room.

Review 68:The hotel in quiet. Staff friendly and helpful

Review 69:Reasonably nice room and bathroom. Staff was helpful-- provided us directions, provided us with shampoo, etc. (though unclear why it wasn't in the room to start with!).

Review 70:No significant negative points.

Review 71:Nice hotel close to Egilsstadir in quiet environment; rather small but clean room with nice bath room and good beds and seats outside. Breakfast was very good.

Review 72:We enjoyed our stay in one of the cottages at Hótel Eyvindará. The cottage was very pretty (I would have loved to see it in the snow!) and spacious, with the exception of the bathroom which was tiny (especially the sink!). The double bed was comfortable, the room was warm and there was a kitchen if you wanted to cook. The breakfast in the main hotel building was included in the price and it was very good. The location is fantastic with stunning views!

Review 73:Wi-Fi did not work at all in room, a bit expensive for what was offered

Review 74:Nice views from the room, makes you feel like you're in the middle of the forest

Review 75:Was relatively more expensive compared to very similar places we stayed during our trip to Iceland.

Review 76:Our cabin was very clean and comfortable. It is located by some nice walking trails. Breakfast was great. Staff was helpful and friendly.

Review 77:Long hours of daylight with a small child and poor or lacking window covers (had to rig up a towel). Wifi did not reach to our cabin (which was ok since we wanted a little "off the grid".)

Review 78:Small and quaint cabin. Very comfortable and easy location from Eglisstadir. Good breakfast. Perfect quiet life spot. Kitchenette with all needed cooking and eating supplies. We were the only guests at the property. Money being spent on renovations.

Review 79:The hotel is great. And most of all, it is managed by their owners and they are the kindest people we´ve ever met. This includes the chef at the restaurant. The best fish and lamb we´ve ever tried. The best place in Iceland by far.

Review 80:It would be beneficial to customers if the map with the location of the hotel be given on the website

Review 81:Good breakfast. Clean facilities

Review 82:A little out of town.

Review 83:This was a pleasant surprise. Was expecting it to be an older place but only two years in oppression with brand new facilities.

Review 84:The staff was veru nice and helpfull

Review 85:A mess arround teritory, no wifi and tv in a house

Review 86:Nice stuff, delicious breakfast.

Review 87:WiFi was intermittent

Review 88:Quiet location a few minutes from town
