Reviews for Sa Balza Guest House

Review 1:Shower cubicle

Review 2:Stayed here for 2 nights right in the heart of old Bosa and close to the river. Emanuele was a great host who gave us lots of info on what to do and best places to eat. Followed his recommendations and enjoyed very nice meals, reasonably priced. Great situation in the old town and we found parking by the river close by no problem. Lovely bright clean spacious room only downside was a very small shower cubicle with door that was difficult to close. Shame really as it is a really big bathroom and doesn't really need a cubicle!

Review 3:We stayed in Sa Balza for two nights, and we liked it very much! We had the "blue" room, that was overlooking the quiet back street on the second floor, it was very calm and quiet at night, and we slept very well - maybe because of the thick walls of the old house :). It was real stay in real historical house - we loved entering the gates, then the inside yard with old barrels, climbing up the stairs... Real old town ambience! and the room with vaulted ceilings! Our Blue room was really big, very clean, nice and very comfortable. The bathroom was also very clean and nice, with plenty of hot water, just the shower cabin was a bit too small... For bigger people it might be a problem :)It is written that the property does not have a parking, which is true, but we easily found the parking place on the riverside street, which is just few minutes from the property. The property does not offer breakfast (I knew this when booking), so my personal advice for travelers from the north - if you want something more that just coffee and sweet cruasan, prepare some sandwich and fruits in the evening before, as in the morning you will find nothing "sour" in cafes. :) :) :)It is very convenient that the owner Emanuele is working in a travel agency just next door - he was very friendly, we got a pre-prepared pack with all possible information we needed - actually, there was enough info on activities for the whole week, not only 2 days :) He told us where to go for dinner, what to do if you got striked by meduza (buy an amoniac stick in advance, at any pharmacy, so you could use it immediately after stroke), where to find anything we would/could/might wish to find and even checked us into our planes! Thank you, Emanuele, we send you our best wishes - we loved Bosa, and we loved Sa Balza, and we appreciate your attitude towards your hometown and Sardinia.

Review 4:Check in didn't start until 5pm. Although we would've preferred earlier we were aware and it didn't cause an issue.

Review 5:The host speaks excellent English and provided a wealth of information and maps about Bosa; including a great dinner suggestion at nearby Locanda di Corte. The room was huge, clean and comfortable and despite its very central location it was quiet at night.

Review 6:Set down a beautiful cobbled street between the River Temo and at the foot of Malasapina castle. Really good local restaurants - ristorante pizzeria la margherita especially for pizzas, cafes and bars all highly recommended by Emanuel, owner of Sa Balza. If you have a car, parking is nearby and makes exploring nearby beaches much easier. Visiting the 'natural pool' just past Bosa harbour is a must and if you can get to any of the beaches to the south you are in for untouched sand and wilderness where you'll for sure only bump into a handful of people. Be sure to pack a snorkel and goggles too, you'll only be disappointed if you don't!

Review 7:the one and only small criticism i can think of was that our double bed had two mattresses instead of a big one, so it was not as comfortable as it could have been

Review 8:the guest house is neat and sweet, located in the middle of the city, perfect for exploring the old town; on arrival we were not only given our keys but received a hand-made guide by emanuele with recommendations for places to visit in and around bosa, what where to eat etc. - i can only advise you to follow them! all in all very very helpful and very very friendly.

Review 9:The location, the cleanliness, the quaint little courtyard, the best breakfast and dinner places nearby, convenient parking, comfortable spacious room. Emanuelle was extremely helpful to recommend the best things to do and beaches to go to.

Review 10:Emanuele is a very nice an caring host and can show you everything there is to visit in the area, including the nicest beaches and best restaurants in Bosa.

Review 11:The location is perfect in the centre of the old town. Lots of bars and restaurants to try and lots of different beaches within a few minutes drive. Emmanuelle is a perfect host and passionate about is town and heritage...a pleasure to talk to he will suggest on where to eat and visit based on his and others recommendations. Parking along river or just over bridge didn't prove a problem.

Review 15:Absolutely wonderful little hotel right at the entrance to Bosa's old town. The host Emmanuele was really, really helpful and he gave us great advice on what to see and where to grab some good food in Bosa. The room was clean and very comfy, and no noise from outside is heard in the room, becaues it's in a nice little backyard. Sa Balza is a great place to stay, definitely one of the best ones on our journey!

Review 23:We stayed 4 nights at Sa Balza and the four days spent in Boza were the highlights of our holidays in Sardinia since we liked this town very much. Our room was huge and nicely furnished and despite the very summery outside temperatures, it always remained cool even without using the air conditioning. The owner, Emanuele, was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the region. With his useful suggestions as well as the information sheet provided, it is easy to organize nice programs for every day including wine tasting, boat trip and walks. The location of the guest house is central, very handy for lots of cafes, bars, restaurants, small greengrocers selling incredibly tasty local fruits and two wonderful beaches, which are just 5 minutes away by car. We would highly recommend Sa Balza to anyone who is looking to have some quality time in an authentic and picturesque Sardinian seaside town.

Review 24:The owner, Emanuele, was very helpful and really informative. Nice, spacious room, great for a short break. Excellent location with easy parking nearby.

Review 25:Spacious room in excellent position. Full of character. Helpful friendly owner. Useful info on local places of interest and excellent local restaurants.

Review 26:Sms: "Dear Emanuele we will be arriving one day earlier. Is thata problem?"Well it wasn't a problem at all. The only thing Emanuele wanted to know was at what time we would be arriving. There he was, kindly waiting for us at his travel agency next door. This was the beginning of a wonderful time in Bosa. As soon as we arrived, we did the necessary check-in procedures and then quickly continued to more important things of our stay: where to eat, what to visit. This was elaboratly explained by the owner of Sa Balza, Emanuele. He had made a 5 page list of all kinds of places to visit and addresses of restaurants/ cafes, which were diligently marked on several maps of Bosa. Emanuele puts a lot of effort in ensuring the stay of his guests is excellent and even though we were in off-season, Emanuele advised us on which restaurants were closed or open. All his recommendations were very accurate. Thanks to him we had lovely, typical food followed by local wines. The room itself was one of a kind, spacious and colourful. The facilities in the room (AC/ heating, LCD tv, fridge for self storage) were up to date and very comfortable. The ambiance of the room and entrance was well kept to coincide with the historical values of the town. From this particular room we had a view as you could only imagine in old Italian towns. This added to the authenticity of the room. The proprietor gave us a set of keys so we could open the doors to the patio and the room. This gave us the freedom to enter and leave whenever we wanted. Despite the fact that there was no wifi and breakfast (which we actually didn't miss), Emanuele told us about a cafe just accross the street from our room to enjoy breakfast and another two places where we could have access to wifi or internet. We booked only one night at Sa Balza and it turned out that we stayed for 3 nights. We couldn't thank Emanuele enough for his kindness and hospitality!

Review 27:It was a very nice room, and especially the ower was very kind to us. He explained us in detail, all what we have to see, where are nice beaches, goods restaurants for diferent kind of food, and addionately he gave us a lot of written information. It was a very pleasant stay!

Review 33:We have just returned from spending a glorious week in the beautiful island of Sardinia. We booked into the Sa Balza guesthouse in Bosa for two nights at a very reasonable rate, but ended up staying for three. On arriving we were greeted by Emmanuel who spent about 30 minutes showing us our room and answering our many questions about where to visit, restaurants and parking. Our room was self contained with its own front door , TV, fridge ,bathroom and shower. It was large, spacious , clean and comfortable. Sa Balza is located on Bosa’s most attractive street adjacent to the river and close to the castle and cathedral. Each night we sampled the food in the local restaurants recommended by Emmanuel. We sampled delicious meals of fresh fish and a local speciality dessert, and were also invited to taste wine from Emmanuel’s own vineyard. We fully intend to return to Sardinia and to Sa Balza again. Emmanuel was such a pleasant, friendly and helpful host and we have nothing but positive remarks to make about this stay. 10/10.
