Reviews for Foley's Guesthouse & Self Catering Holiday Homes

Review 1:Foleys was located right in town the owners were lovely and more than accommodating, food was great, beds were very comfortable. It was a slow time of year for tourists but will definitely stay at Foleys again on our next trip.

Review 2:The hotel is located over a pub, we couldn't sleep at night due to the live music (until 3 am…). The pub, where the breakfast is served, isn't very clean. The breakfast (and the menu in the evening) is really unspectacular. For that the room was much too expensive.

Review 3:The location is very good, central, the staff is kinda friendly, the room was really clean.

Review 4:They have a pub right below the rooms so we slept with our window open and listened to live Irish music while in the comfort of our room. It was perfectly lovely!

Review 5:Great location, rooms, staff and food. Excellent Live music downstairs by the Paddyman (& his Dad!) Had people singing along and dancing on the weekend we were there. We really enjoyed.

Review 6:There was a lot of noise from the street and it was warm in the room so we needed to leave the window open. The breakfast was terrible. Pancakes were not cooked through and were inedible. The bathroom needs to be updated. The bathtub/shower was moldey.

Review 7:The location was good. The staff was very friendly.

Review 8:Great place if you are looking for live music and craic. If you want an early night you might want to for a quieter room.

Review 9:Friendly staff at breakfast. Very central location

Review 10:Booked a deluxe twin as a special treat for my wife. Was given a family room overlooking a roof with multiple aircon units. When I asked about the discrepancy, the member of staff thought that as we had enough beds everything was OK. Extremely disappointed. Would not go back.

Review 11:hotel was clean and well situated

Review 12:No hot water the first night and staff member was rude when I mentioned it to him. Breakfast is not great. Check in was nothing special, no information was given about breakfast times, activities around the area etc. If your a light sleeper, bring some ear plugs!

Review 13:Great location in the center of town. Rooms are a decent size with flat screen TV's (Saorview only)

Review 14:forget your Killarney and the ring of Kerry and dingle among other similar places unless you want to be swamped by tour buses instead head to Kenmare do the beara peninsula and stay at Foleys unless you are adverse to the very best of hospitality food and entertainment at a very reasonable price well done guys and girls you know who you are

Review 15:There were issues with the WiFi, which is turned off downstairs at 5 p.m. It never really worked well in my room.

Review 16:The staff was great and extremely helpful. You can't beat the excellent location in downtown Kenmare.

Review 17:Firstly let me apologize for taking up your valuable time having to communicate my experiences during my stay at this guest house. I'm sorry I was such a bother to the staff who obviously had much more important things to do than be pleasant or helpful. If I had known that having to stay up half the night listening to the house band and an hour later the noise of other guests shouting on the landing or banging the front door for over an hour and no body available to do anything about it maybe I might have gone elsewhere. I'll say on thing for the operation...it seems to be really good at collecting the money. The only two things uttered by the male receptionist were what's your name and price.....but he was a busy man. It cost me €140 to stay without breakfast even though the tourist boards recommendation is €60 including breakfast.... Its probably illegal to charge this much...... a partial refund would have been appreciated. I booked on your website......silly me. Sent from my Windows Phone

Review 18:Rooms very small. Noisey till late at night with downstairsentertainment and early morning delivery of kegs.

Review 19:Good location. Nice & helpful staff. Good pub grub.

Review 20:No parking facilities. Bed was very hard. Not a great choice for breakfast. Noise from music in the bar and from hotel opposite.

Review 21:Restaurant food was good. Rooms were clean and great location

Review 22:There was a lack of instructions as to how the systems within the house work (heating, hot water, double oven). A quick run through with a knowledgeable person would have saved time and aggravation. Perhaps residents of Ireland are familiar with the above but it was a bit of a puzzle for a North American. The sheet of instructions at the house could certainly use an updating.

Review 23:We had originally booked two rooms in the hotel. On arrival we found that a self catering unit was available that would cost less. This was a new 3 bedroom townhouse about 10 minutes walk from the town centre. The house was spacious and well appointed (great for groups of 4 or more). Definitely excellent value for great accommodation.

Review 24:Breakfast was terrible. Although we were asked what time we wanted to eat for the chef's benefit, it was obvious that the food had been cooked much earlier and then microwaved. Very disappointing.

Review 25:Foley's was clean and comfortable and central in Kenmare. There was entertainment in the bar downstairs which meant that the bedrooms were noisy - unavoidable I guess.

Review 26:I found the bedroom very cramped & 12 euro for breakfast very expensive on top of 64 euro for the room .You would get a good hotel for that price.

Review 27:I found the location very good

Review 28:Very poor service... as if we were invisible. It wasn't crowded, but we had to request our beverages three different times and they didn't arrive until the meal was finished. In general, the staff was disinterested.

Review 29:The people were all very kind and helpful. The food was great and the room was very comfortable.

Review 30:Bedroom reeked of tobacco smoke

Review 31:Location but free parking only on roadside after 6 pm

Review 32:Beds are very uncomfortable. Also it's very hard to check in and out of Foleys you have to go and find somebody which isn't always that easy

Review 33:Food great, staff wonderful, room comfortable

Review 34:Poor quality shower & bathroom facilities

Review 35:Location

Review 36:staff are easy going friendly even though was very busy at one stage but good banter and great music playing

Review 37:breakfast was burned

Review 38:Nothing

Review 39:Friendly and helpful

Review 40:All was sweet

Review 41:The male staff member that checked us in was so polite and helpful, very professional , dinner, delish, music great, enjoyed our stay.

Review 42:Very large house and sooo close to everything.would gladly stay there again.

Review 43:Free wifi in bar only between 9 and 5

Review 44:Lovely place.

Review 45:lovely place great food really enjoyed my stay

Review 46:Locstion

Review 47:Great location ,Nice breakfast and a great time at the Pub listening to local music

Review 48:Breakfast was too late for me but they still cane in early to accommodate me. Great service.

Review 49:Everything

Review 50:Location and staff were both excellent ....staff really helpful and polite ...Def recommend it

Review 51:Atmosphere

Review 52:Above a pub which was busy both nights, music was good but it was hard to sleep

Review 53:Room was good size Good location

Review 54:Foley's was easy to find. Staff were very nice. The bedroom was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The food was good a great menu. And a great band on the night.

Review 55:could nt find anything we didn't like

Review 56:everything was really good, staff were pleasant which goes a long way to make your stay happy, rooms were clean and towels were changed daily.

Review 57:No elevator and the stairs are steep. We were on the 3rd floor (or 2nd for Europeans) I was glad we had small overnight bags. And glad I had just a bit to drink. :-)

Review 58:We were driving the "Ring of Kerry" but had begun late so this was a stopover. It's an in town location above a Pub. But, there is no problem with noise. The Pub had live music, sing alongs, friendly staff, terrific food and we tried a few new beers on tap. For those interested they had a whiskey bar with an extensive selection. We had a great time. Breakfast the next morning was also delicious. Early in the evening there were young children dancing in front of the band. Americans might not realize that Pubs in Ireland and England are family friendly. Not meaning little kids are running all over like McDonald's, but don't count Foley's out if you have children.

Review 59:Noisy, morning breakfast was good. But they don't replace the coffee filter with new coffee. They just add water... I guess it's ok if you like a very lite coffee.

Review 60:They serve you with a smile.

Review 61:Key to outside door didn't work when one of our party tried to come back to retire but was sorted quickly with a phone call

Review 62:Location Price Accommodating helpful staff

Review 63:Waitor was too eager while I was having breakfast. Hardly finished parts of meal when plates were whipped away! Also, the Panini is a toasted roll and NOT a Panini!

Review 64:Friendly place. Central location.

Review 65:Wifi was a little slow, but I wasn't away to be on the internet.

Review 66:Brilliant location, very helpful staff. Great price. Food & drink downstairs. Room was very comfortable & clean. Free on street parking. Great breakfast included.

Review 67:Nothing!

Review 68:The location was perfect both in relation to its position in the town and in the area generally. The staff were exceptionally friendly, helpful and obliging. John pours a wonderful Guinness and makes a magnificent full Irish breakfast. The food in the bar/restaurant was very tasty (would highly recommend the Guinness pie or Irish stew).

Review 69:Location was excellent close too all amenities. Although on main road no traffic noise. Guest house quiet at this time of the year, would like to return when there are more people around in bar, restaurant etc.

Review 70:No off street parking, so trying to get a space on the street was a major issue.

Review 71:Location fantastic, side of the street. Great food, lovely room, plenty of space. Friendly staff. Great advice and local knowledge. Brilliant in house entertainment.

Review 72:The accommodations were very spacious and clean. We stayed for 4 nights. It was nice to have a home with living room and dining area for gathering. Just outside of the square but still in walking distance. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Review 73:there was nothing that I didn't enjoy about my stay here

Review 74:We loved this hotel, very friendly owners and all the staff, they made you feel at home and could not do enough to make our stay comfortable, would highly recommend and will definitely be going back for a longer stay

Review 75:The staff were very friendly and accommodating to our request of an early breakfast as I was competing in an event in the area and the kitchen would not have being open at the time i was leaving. I got a great breakfast which keep me going for the day. Great service and value for money.

Review 76:- Live music in below bar was very loud and played through to approx 1am. More adequate sound proofing should be provided if live music going to be played. - Early breakfast promised in the morning, but never provided. - No tv remote control in room. - No hot water in early morning (around 6am). - Overall room rate was very expensive for room/facilities provided.

Review 77:- Location was excellent. - Staff were very friendly and helpful. - Although not provided by guesthouse, free on street parking was good,

Review 78:The Guesthouse/ Hotel is an excellent location, the staff are very friendly. It's more a boutique hotel than B&B. The rooms are hotel quality & comfort. The food in the bar is very good and good value. Will definitely stay again.

Review 79:The care and attention i recieved from the foley familly and staff was beyond the call off duty as i had recently had key hole surgery and was very sick on my first visit to foleys guest house, They treated me like a member of the family.

Review 80:When we arrived the girl was very rude at reception. She did not greet us just asked for the name and demanded the money up front. Also the door on our bathroom in room 11 was too large to close now that didn't happen overnight so why don't they deal with it.Did'nt bother to complain because we were only overnight for a wedding.

Review 81:breakfast was excellent

Review 82:The weather was great while we were there and they was no fans available in the guesthouse and the temp in the rooms was unbearable at night

Review 83:the staff were very friendly and the food was great

Review 84:The room was bloody hot but let's face it is was very very hot for Ireland when we stayed there

Review 85:Great place to stay staff very good and best of all they had Irish music

Review 86:The room was a bit small and stuffy. I could hear the kitchen dooropening and closing. The breakfast was unimpressive in the downstairsrestaurant/bar that still smelled of beer. The waitresses allseem rushed.

Review 87:I loved the location right in the town, walked right up to our room whenwe were finished with dinner/drinks. The bed was comfortable.

Review 88:couldnt stay longer.

Review 89:have been to the area many times and stayed either there or across the raod, on main street with music and geared for the touresty type. food good and reasonable. happy faces all round, o ya book on line as you save save save

Review 90:There wasn't anything I didn't like.

Review 91:Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Food in bar was excellent. Breakfast was very good. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 92:very comfortable house we didn't want 2 go with d comfort of d place! rooms very nice plenty of space 4 six of us great place 2 relax or catch up with old friends no major rush on u leaving early on Sunday

Review 93:We were in a family room located directly over the bar! My husband didn't get sleep - the kids and I did.

Review 94:We loved the food, location, and friendliness of the staff. This is a very welcoming hotel.

Review 95:Bed was very firm Late night revellers very noisy, last shouting match @ 6.30 am but that can be expected I suppose as Foleys is in the main street with hotels on both sides.

Review 96:Friendly helpful staff Lovely meal Great atmosphere

Review 97:Too many complaints: First room stank of cigarette smoke. Second roomhad piles of broken glass at door and splinters in room. Entireestablishment needs industrial strength cleaning team: everythingfilthy. (Cigarette butt on floor by lift still there on day 2, etc.)This is a hostel for serious young drinkers, not a hotel.

Review 98:Staff were very quick to try and address my complaints.

Review 99:Great music at night. We were in a room above it. Fortunately we were tired & it didn't keep us awake. Better to have stayed to the end!

Review 100:Great location. Nice room.

Review 101:Noise +++,emptying botle banks at 0630, unloading beer kegs at 07oo, noise outside my room at 0200 am (people chatting). Cold scrambled egg served on one of the mornings for breakfast.

Review 102:My only criticism is that our room was located next to a fire exit, acloset and seemingly under a washroom. The fire exit was left ajar lateboth nights and the constant banging from that actually shook our room. The closet and washing machine were in use first thing in the morning, which woke me early both mornings, however I understand that space islimited and I am a particularly light sleeper and these things did nothamper my experience of an otherwise great stay.

Review 103:It was one of the nicer establishments in the town, with excellentservice and could not fault the location. Best value for money I couldfind in almost all of Ireland for the particular weekend I stayed.

Review 104:according to guest info book - breakfast only available between 8.30 and 9.30am which we found a bit unreasonable. wifi password in the guest info book didn't work didn't like synthetic quilt on bed. it annoys me when hotels/guesthouses put shower controls on far wall so you cant turn on without wetting yourself or the floor before stepping in.

Review 105:friendly check in room was clean and well equipped view of this room was of flat roof with the guesthouse laundry drying - was ok for one night stay bed was comfortable not particularly spacious room but again ok for one or two nights at that price so good budget choice v good location in town back of building quiet

Review 106:The music. To much American country and western not enough Irish

Review 107:It was friendly, well organised, clean and comfortable. In fact everythingwe wanted for a lovely holiday. Perfect.

Review 108:We loved staying here. The location is unbeatable, the live pub musicwas a bit loud in the room but we loved every minute of it! (We ofcourse joined in the pub after a while-delightful) The breakfast wasfabulous and everyone rolled out their Irish hospitality. The thing thatwas comparable to other b & B's now that we've stayed at a few inIreland, the bed was the best we slept in. It was big, sturdy and hadplenty of pillows- really nice quality. (Some others have been flat, uninviting and crummy pillows). I would come back to Foley's in aheartbeat.

Review 109:The room was lovely, the service warm relaxing and friendly, the location was perfect in a very central location close to little shops and cafe's, but also in view of the scenery surrounding the town, But best of all was the Beef and Guinness Pie in Foley's Pub.

Review 110:Staying at an Irish Pub was a fantastic experience our family enjoyed. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Kenmare is a beautiful small town where the people were very friendly.

Review 111:The room was lovely but it was a bit loud in the mornings with kegsbeing banged off trucks and this was in the off season . The host wasnot there so the apprentice was a a young polish fella who made meuncomfortable. He was partial to my 24 year old daughter . There wasnone of the Irish charm One expects in a guest house from Ireland. Ittook away from my pleasure in the stay.

Review 112:The room was lovely the beds comfortable and the location right incenter of small town

Review 113:Came away with lots of bed bites on my legs and arms and even some on my face , but nothing to bad

Review 114:Great location and staff really nice place

Review 115:Good location, had an excellent meal on the night in the pub and a great breakfast. Clean room and comfortable bed, can't ask for more
