Reviews for Auburn Lodge Hotel & Leisure Centre

Review 1:Leisure area / pool etc closed at 18:00 and sauna didn't work.

Review 2:Very nice staff, very obliging and friendly, a little outside Ennis on a main road but still quite peaceful and only a short stretch of the legs into town. Good pub attached to it with nice bar food.

Review 3:The bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable

Review 4:Hotel was ok, I must compliment the staff that were serving breakfast for their efficiency and friendliness

Review 5:Room was cold. Was offered a blow heater which I declined (the noise would be impossible to sleep with). Hotel entrance to bar smelled. (probably from carpet and old stained upholstery). General musty smell throughout hotel. Staff had an air of cold politeness and were mildly pleasant.

Review 6:Sitting by fire in lobby. Boys enjoyed pool & gym Breakfast staff (especially the two, I'm guessing Philippino, ladies) were very warm & pleasant, especially the petite lady who wore her hair up. She is worth her weight in gold. If I ran a hotel I would head hunt her.

Review 7:Wouldn't recommend breakfast, poor quality and overpriced. Sauna was out of action for our stay but steam room was great

Review 8:Lovely hotel, nice staff, nice rooms. Leisure facilities very good, bar has good atmosphere.

Review 9:My boyfriend and I were placed on the ground floor and were put into a room for someone with special needs. This made me uncomfortable as it was not a requirement for us and I'm sure that someone else could have gotten better use of the facilities who really needed it. The bathroom was extra large and the shower was just a corner of the room with special handle rails and a seat. It was quite uncomfortable to shower in as it was open in the room. Obviously on NYE the rooms were booked out, however this room was in no way suitable for us. It made me very uncomfortable to be using this room when someone who needed it was not.

Review 10:Good location, value for money.

Review 11:Two out of four light bulbs were not working, therefore quite dark in the room...

Review 12:Free WiFi, free instant coffee and tea in the room. Very nice antique furniture in the hotel. Free swimming pool which we didn't have time to use. Includes restaurant etc.

Review 13:There was no covering on the window when the curtains were opened. This added to the coldness in the room. The room was very cold during the night, this impacted on sleep. The room was really cold during the day and this prompted us to go out in the stormy weather to find warmth elsewhere. The radiator in the room was cold by 10am.

Review 14:The staff at reception were helpful and very friendly.

Review 15:Dinner was not the greatest but good atmosphere.

Review 16:Friendly staff, comfy room, Gym, pool, convenient to major roads and town, breakfast, atmosphere in bar.

Review 17:Nothing specific :-) breakfast wasn't included with price but we knew that so not a problem.

Review 18:Lovely comfortable room, quiet and warm room. Friendly staff at reception. Great to use the gym and pool!

Review 19:The receptionist was most friendly and a pleasure to talk to, the barman was also very friendly and spoke to everyone even the kids, the hotel itself was very clean and the swimming pool was also very clean.

Review 20:Only problem I had was with the service on my 2nd day cup was not cleaned and cutlery left from previous night.

Review 21:Staff were super friendly and as a solo woman on my own felt very safe and comfortable in the hotel and bar areas

Review 22:Very flat hotel easy to get disoriented in the halls. Leisure centre bit of a let down , swimming pool tiny , must wear t-shirts in gym no vests seriously , weight room separate to gym

Review 23:Friendly staff , rooms nice

Review 24:Staff were brilliant really friendly and easy going...The rooms were perfect and the beds were so comfy..would def reccomend and will be back to stay again ?

Review 25:Pillows were uncomfortable.

Review 26:Friendly staff with excellent customer relations. Leisure facilities were brilliant - we even treated ourselves to a massage. Room was great - even had a radio which is a great idea.

Review 27:Carvery food wasn't great Shower in room could use an updating Bit of a long trek to our room (couldn't be helped I suppose) Couldn't use pool due swimming classes, again something that couldn't be helped(understandable) but we shouldn't have plan our days around a schedule!

Review 28:The room was very comfie Lovely spa experience.staff were friendly.

Review 29:longer walk in to town than expected, doable, but not so nice in bad weather.

Review 30:Friendly Staff, nice warm area to sit in the lobby, bar food was good. Went for treatment in beauty thearpy which was good value for money.

Review 31:Staff were really cheeky to us when we were finishing our drinks in the residence bar moving us out to stand in the lobby! We then were sent up to our room (and it was ok for us to go to one room to finish our conversation, which they later came up and put our friends out of the room saying they weren't allowed to be in the room. We then suggested moving to the lobby again to finish our conversation which they said was not allowed!! We had travelled from different parts of the country and were meeting here for a good catch up which was destroyed when your being sent to bed at 30+ years of age!! Not impressed at all!!

Review 32:Dinner was OK! Staff friendly during the day! Not so nice at night when your in the residence bar!!

Review 33:Upon arrival I asked the receptionist could we check on...she had no reservation on her system. This was very embarrassing as i was standing infront of my partner. Eventually she pretended she had found my booking but still did not know my name etc and asked me to fill out a form with all my details...she clearly had not found my booking. The room we then got was old and at the very rear of the hotel. We had requested a double room...instead got a double and 2 singles...there was no room to move anywhere...it was old...dusty...outdated. i just did not enjoy my stay at the auburn lodge unfortunately ?

Review 34:The location is wonderful.

Review 35:Had to pay more than quoted on Booking.com because of 'exchange rate'... not as on booking form.

Review 36:Room only booking...... Loved the room, quiet, lots of space, nice bed...nice decor, new carpet, tea making facility, hair dryer etc....just really nice to be there.... staff are great too from front desk to maid.... well done Auburn Lodge. Didn't have time to use the excellent swimming pool but have done on past visits...

Review 37:from the minute we walked into the auburn lodge, we were meet with very welcoming staff, that was the way all the way, restraunt staff were excellent at dinner and also at breakfast.

Review 38:Was generally quite warm in the hotel but I think the mild last week in october coupled with heating being on meant it was so

Review 39:Big rooms, swimming pool, late bar, good breakfast

Review 40:Breakfast-waitress was very stressed, shouting at guests and made the environment very unpleasant, way too hot in room even with window open as far as could go.

Review 41:Receptionist very helpful, comfy bed, foyer was lovely.

Review 42:10am is a bit late as an opening time for children in the swimming pool in my opinion. 8 or 9 would be better for the early risers!

Review 43:Lovely swimming pool which is what I was looking for as I was staying with two small children. Receptionist was really friendly and helpful.

Review 44:None whatsoever brilliant stay.

Review 45:This hotel has a beautiful ambience. From the moment you arrive until you unfortunately have to leave the friendly staff will make you feel like you are the only person staying!

Review 46:Decor bit dated. Hate the energy saving lighting ruins ambience of hotel and room. Bit pricey for just room only

Review 47:Fantastic friendly staff especially Gearoid the bar man and the Filipino waitress at breakfast. Food excellent especially for wedding which we attended. Room layout for function was magnificent

Review 48:Breakfast should have more to offer then just scrambled egg.

Review 49:Staff at reception really very nice. Staff at breakfast lovely and very helpful. Nice pool facilities.

Review 50:The breakfast could have more of a variety however when I requested mushrooms there was no problem getting them, the carvery was not great...

Review 51:Staff at reception very friendly, I dealt with Aisling, she was lovely, loved de atmosphere in de bar.. Place is spotless & staff always have a smile & say hi..

Review 52:The bed wasn't very comfortable but we do like a harder bed so it's only personal preference, not a complaint. However, it was on the more extreme side of basic.

Review 53:The bar was lovely, staff were very nice. Did what it said on the tin.

Review 54:Nothing to fault this hotel

Review 55:This is a very nice hotel. It's location is ideal as a base for touring Clare and the west. Value for money and the cleanliness of the rooms is first class. I have stayed in this hotel many times and have no difficulty in recommending this lovely hotel.

Review 56:The only thing I didn't like was the location. There wasn't much to do around the city but because we had our car we were able to drive to other cities and visit places like the Alwee Caves

Review 57:The staff at this hotel are excellent. They are all so friendly and happy to help with any queries. The food in the hotel was amazing also! Didn't eat out once!

Review 58:The receptionist was as cold as ice and not nice at all. When asking about food to get she offered nothing. All night long there was loud banging well into 2am through the hallways. Then at 7am hammering and drilling started. We were more then ready to run out of there by morning.

Review 59:It was affordable for last minute. The room was huge. Must have been a suite?

Review 60:cigarette smoke coming through the ventilation system of both bathrooms (we had 2 rooms) Heating was not adjustable and the room was uncomfortably hot the whole night Windows did not stay open, so we had no choice but to sleep in a hot and smoky room. Would not stay here again

Review 61:Food was nice Restaurant staff and room service staff was friendly

Review 62:If I'm being fussy; the bedroom TV could do with being updated.

Review 63:The staff here completely made my stay. Their attitude was comfortably worthy of a top five star hotel. Nice pool & leisure facilities also.

Review 64:Ensuite was clean, but very tired. Grout and trim around the bath need urgent attention. Poor sound-proofing between rooms and with the corridor. Ancient TV with poor reception, though it had all the main Irish & UK channels. Overall, we were disappointed, for the price.

Review 65:Size of room. Good breakfast, plenty of wait-staff on duty. Comfortable bed, extra pillows.

Review 66:We were there for the Ennis Truck Run 4 Katie. Had a fantastic weekend. We had a fab dinner and the breakfast was lovely the following morning. Staff were very helpful and the rooms were lovely.

Review 67:Quite a way out of town, but we enjoyed eating in the hotel.

Review 68:The hotel had everything we needed. Rooms were excellent and food was good. Staff were friendly.

Review 69:My room 225 was ok T.V from the dark ages!! But a very smell of urine in my bathroom. The hotel needs to be up dated.

Review 70:The staff were very helpful and friendly, I traveled with my elderly parents to a family funeral.

Review 71:On our arrival I found the staff on reception to be quite abrupt and not very welcoming. The bath was old and grubby looking even though it was clean.

Review 72:The hotel lobby, restaurant and bar areas were all nicely decorated however the bedrooms were quite dated and the corridors to the bedrooms let the hotel down. But despite the dated look the bedrooms were clean and comfy and a good nights sleep was had by all on the two nights we stayed there. Good selection for breakfast and a very friendly, helpful lady running the dining room.

Review 73:Staff were not very accommodating and not very friendly. We were at a charity weekend where there was over 800 people expected hotel ran out of drink, staff was to a very minimum and no apologies were being made to any of the customers. Dinner was nice but for grown men it was very small. 3 couples in our group had different problems at check in.

Review 74:The rooms were spacious & Clean

Review 75:When I got a tray for my soup they were dirty. Ran out of drink evening the following day to a certain time the fridges were empty. Chewing gum on a seat we sat on. The place needs a full make over

Review 76:I didn't like the bar - I found it a bit dreary and there was no bar food expect carvery. Also I found every part of the hotel cold apart from the bedroom.

Review 77:I liked the food in the restaurant and the staff in the restaurant.

Review 78:The only bad experience we had was that the lights/kettle/tv went off one morning, but this was fixed by staff fixing the trip switch, also the fire alarm went off one morning at 6.30am, but this was for health and safety reasons, so could not be avoided.

Review 79:The hotel is very spacious and the room had a safe, which was a added bonus. We found the accommodation really nice and was spotlessly clean. The staff could not do enough for you and we were made to feel very welcome. We enjoyed the breakfast buffett, which was good because you could help yourself to as little or as much as you wanted to eat. The food was very nice with plenty of choice.

Review 80:Some areas a bit tired and some rooms better than others. Lots of internal and external fire doors are left open so cigarette smoke blows through the corridors. The carpets really need a thorough clean. Bar food average.

Review 81:Great staff, very friendly. Good value hotel.

Review 82:Staff was not informative at all about dining options . We had to ask multiple people about options and just happened to find out you could order off a menu at the pub. Hours for dining were not displayed even in the book in the room. Having to wear a swim cap for pool- not listed as a necessity anywhere. Room was not clean when we checked in , although rep. Kindly offered us another.

Review 83:Convenience of restaurant / pub / leisure center

Review 84:The shower water was not strong enough but the bathroom was always clean & towels were changed every day. The sheets needed changing though in the last three days but apart from this, all was good

Review 85:It was very clean, bed was so comfy & big, & staff were friendly. It's located near a big supermarket which was very convenient

Review 86:The girl on reception welcomed us and booked a excellent tour also taxi and advised us on area locations to visit. The morning staff and breakfast was excellent. the spa was also most welcoming and enjoyable

Review 87:Our family of 16 persons; including baby girl, two teenage girls, enjoy our stay in a hotel. Rooms was comfortable, clean and with all facilities; coffee, tee etc. Special thank you for receptionist Helena who organise our stay. Helena was vibrant for all of our big family needs. All of us and especially children was delighted for swimming pool and summer garden. We recommend Auburn Lodge Hotel & Leisure Centre for everyone who looking for relaxation in quite and nice place.

Review 88:Wifi was very poor in our rooms, and only a little better in the lobby.

Review 89:Nice hotel, with very attractive facilities, and comfortable rooms. Several options for food and drink...or just relaxing in the lobby/lounge area. It is in a fairly good location, only a few minutes drive from the center of town.

Review 90:the smell of cigarette smoke in all the old rooms, carpet definitely needs replaced!

Review 91:Good hotel and in good location with excellent staff. Quiet at nights and good swimming pool.

Review 92:Every time we visit Ennis we stay in this hotel. Staff are so friendly and helpful, food is fabulous. Rooms are superior. Don't have a bad thing to say about the Auburn Lodge

Review 93:I booked this hotel for my daughter and her husband as it was their 1st wedding anniversary. When I booked I asked would it be possible to put something in the room for them, wine or chocs or flowers, anything would have been nice but there was nothing, I was disappointed at that, if the hotel had rang me about my request I would have paid extra for it. Also they paid for breakfast as it wasnt included in price. I paid 129e just for room only and I have seen hotel on deal sites at a cheaper rate with breakfast and a dinner, feel I paid more than I should have which seems a bit unfair.

Review 94:The staff could not have been more helpful. When I asked for a phone charger, the receptionist gave me her own personal one. When I asked for some blank pages for my children to draw on, the receptionist gave me some colouring sheets and another staff member went to the shop to buy them colouring pencils! I was so impressed - the staff definitely went above and beyond.

Review 95:The food was terrible. We ordered sandwiches through room service - the cheese they used was processed, bright orange in colour and tasted of little else but salt. To their credit, the hotel took the cost of this room service off our bill. There was no fresh fruit at breakfast and the 'fresh' orange juice was made from concentrate.

Review 96:Our room was clean and room service maintained that cleanliness throughout our stay. The majority of staff were lovely. One in particular, couldn't have been more helpful. She allowed me to print documents using the printer at reception - as there was no business facilities at the hotel.

Review 97:Rooms very unclean. Even the bed sheets were stained and think some of stains were blood! The shower mat was full of curly hairs! Everything was covered with layer of dust. Was just v.poorly cleaned. Hallway carpet stained nd uneven! Needs full referbishing and clean.

Review 98:Reception area and bar looked classy and clean but that's as far as it went.

Review 99:Outside at first appearance needs up keeping . But inside is very nice. And surprisingly well equipped gym spa pool nice food etc.

Review 100:Liked the pool and leisure facilities. Close to Barnes kids play centre for under 10's . Ample parking. Easy access to motorway.

Review 101:outside centre of Ennis town, resulting in extra cost of taxi trips. On Friday night our party arrived pub packed, staff lovely but thought that the management of the hotel could of done with putting on more staff to deal with crowd there.

Review 102:Rooms spacious, tidy, newer rooms had flatscreen TV. Bathroom in newer rooms decorated beautifully. Great breakfasts. Gym and swimming facilities.

Review 103:Beware of the taxi fare into town it is literally 5 mins in d taxi but we were charged 10 euro bit expensive I thought especially when we got a taxi back that night for 8euro,check first

Review 104:Five mins drive from Ennis town, but you would not walk it ,well not in heels if you are going out, friendly staff ticked all d boxes for us

Review 105:two of the nights we stayed namely 17th and thursday 20th were extremely expensive couldnt get any explanation as to why these nights were so expensive.

Review 106:close proximity to ballyalla lake love the leisure centre also found the girl Aisling who gave me treatments very friendly and very professional.

Review 107:So much to list. Overall, the hotel just seemed out of date and tired and run down right down to every staff member we came in contact with. From check in, to the bar to housekeeping, everyone we met couldn't even work up a smile. We are friendly people and began to be so surprised by the indifference of the staff that we began to look for a smile, even greeting the staff first. No luck. The room was tired, and out of date, particularly the bathroom. We slept in several beds in the four cities we stayed in this trip, but only at this hotel did our backs hurt in the morning. The guest services book indicated that there were light snacks available 24 hours. I called the front desk to check and it was confirmed that they were sandwiches and available in the bar. When at 9:30, we went to the bar, I stood in line to get a colleague to speak to me (she was busy talking to a co-worker) and when I got her attention, I asked about the sandwiches. She told me the kitchen was closed and there was no more food available. I questioned her on the "24 hours" in the guide and she said she was leaving and so couldn't help me, but I should go talk to the desk. No one seemed to step up to take ownership of the problem. We gave up and had dinner from the vending machines. Cannot recommend, in fact recommend you stay anywhere but here if your hotel experience is an important part of your trip.

Review 108:I'm very sorry to say I didn't like anything. I booked it because it was the highest rated. I was disappointed to be 20 minutes from Ennis, but we had a car, so that worked out fine. We booked several hotels through Booking.com this trip and this was the only one I felt was not up to its reviews.

Review 109:The noise and being put in an adjoining room where you could hear everything next door when we were travelling with a baby.

Review 110:Unfortunately we had a very noisy room and as we were travelling with a baby this did not help our nerves... The food and bar were great, the kids playroom was a bonus, the staff very friendly but the noise and discomfort due to this was u complete let down.

Review 111:Booked this particular hotel for the inclusive leisure facilities. Leisure facilities are for over 16s which we were not made aware of prior to travel. We were travelling with 2 13 year olds. Disappointed. Bedrooms quite dated .

Review 112:The room was very poor. The room itself was very old fashioned and shabby looking. Places in the room where things had been mended were left untidy ie copper at radiator had been fixed but instead of carpet it was covered in masking tape. The bathroom was covered in insects. Silver fish is the name of them.

Review 113:Staff and surrounding area downstairs were good.

Review 114:my wife left her Denim jacket in Bar on Sat, evening. The staff could not locate it the following morning. The lovely girl on Reception said she would ring us if it was found.

Review 115:Staff,in particular the Manageress in the Breakfast room.,make sure you keep her.We would return to your Hotel, just for the Bubbly personality of that lady,a real gem.

Review 116:Pillows hard. Minor discomfort in the great scheme of things!

Review 117:Spaciousness of room. Don' often find safe in room, very useful. Staff all very polite, friendly and efficient

Review 118:I was hospitalised just before leaving UK My son son & wife who were in our party did however still visit. They said how good it was & i am waitng to see photos My son ensures me we are definately returning as soon as i am better early next year

Review 119:Some of the corridors for the bedrooms near garden needs updating, a bit shabby compared to the ones at the back near leisure facilities.

Review 120:Nice large bedroom right beside leisure centre lovely dinner in restaurant good value. Three course for €22 would stay again!

Review 121:I would have preferred a more modern room but the hotel and room was lovely overall.

Review 122:The staff where really welcoming epically upon arrival and at breakfast. The room was clean and nice but different from what I expected to get from the pictures on booking.com. But we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back .

Review 123:As there was a big group of us, it was a shame that there were only 3 sun loungers in the pool area. But that is a minor compared to the overall experience of the weekend.

Review 124:The staff excelled themselves and gave us a great insight into Irish hospitality. The breakfast choice was on point and the bar is a great addition to a fabulous hotel. Ideally located to get into town.

Review 125:Breakfast was ok ... Would have liked fried eggs. Music was loud andtours were crowding regular guests.TV in rooms was horrible. NEED BETTER LIGHTING IN ROOMS

Review 126:Staff were pleasant and very kind snd helpful. Water pressure was greatin showers. Beds were comfortable and rooms were clean.Food was fresh and served hot.

Review 127:Just felt it needed a lot of work. Carpets were grubby and not clean, didn't want to walk around the bedroom in bare feet. I am coeliac and the options available for dinner was very poor and I would have made it myself at home

Review 128:Staff were generally no e

Review 129:Hairs in the bath on arrival, not enough breakfast staff, stayed at this hotel about 6years ago no difference since on appearance of hotel or in bed rooms old fashioned.

Review 130:Location location location

Review 131:Swimming pool was nice and warm in the morning! Nice bar food! Nice Receptionist from cork (Blarney). I'd definitely visit again. Perfect distance from the burren, cliffs of moher, Ailwee caves

Review 132:Lack of lighting in the room and bathroom. It was a dimly lit room like it was trying to frets an ambiance but it was impossible to apply make up in that light. Our room was at the very back and there are no lifts, nightmare when you are carting luggage. Breakfast was not included in the price.

Review 133:Spacious room

Review 134:The only small complaint was that the bed was way too hard,my body ached in the morning from the bed.

Review 135:I loved the hotel itself,a little bit dated but very clean, staff very friendly and food was fabulous, location great.

Review 136:Put in room with disabled facilities. Moved to room at back of hotel.up 2 flights of stairs . No lift. All exit doors open. Security very laxed.

Review 137:Food very good.
