Reviews for Temple Gate Hotel
Review 1:Everything about this hotel was absolutely perfect , from the very friendly staff to the clean and very comfortable bedroom. It was in an excellent location for someone wanting to have a good look around the town or go out for the night. We'll definitely come back to this hotel again.
Review 2:Lamp was broke in room. The walls were quite smutty and overall, I've seen much cleaner rooms in much cheaper hotels.
Review 3:Staff were friendly. Food was wonderful.
Review 4:Room was a bit outdated, tv was from the 80's & the hair dryer was the worst I've ever used
Review 5:Staff were very nice & helpful. The restaurant/bar served a nice Irish stew.
Review 6:Locked all the doors at night, I'm a smoker n was such an inconvenience for the security to have to open the door, when we were going to bed the security guard tried to tell me only 1 of us was staying in the room and created an scene infront of the wedding guests, very embarrassing, the receptionist had to tell him to stop. We were not part of the wedding. Stayed in the executive suite which which was very basic for €134. Staff hoovering outside the bedroom door at 10.30 the next morning, came into the room twice
Review 7:Location was great
Review 8:Bathroom a bit small. Lighting in room was weak.
Review 9:Lovely atmosphere in the bar. Staff very helpful and polite. Vet efficient. Food very high standard.
Review 10:Not sure if it counts but wouldn't show the football match on satur day.
Review 11:Good location, friendly, knowledgeable staff, close to everything, great food in bar and restaurant.
Review 12:We had a premium room which was a small size for "premium". Breakfast was also extra on top of the premium rate.
Review 13:Staff were very friendly. Nice bar. Great location.
Review 14:We really enjoyed our stay in this hotel, we could not fault it. The staff were warm and friendly, beautiful hotel, immaculate rooms and perfect location.
Review 15:There is that leaky shower issue, which I'm sure you are aware of. Having to mop up the floor destroys the option of using towels a couple of days before laundering. There were family members in two rooms who had difficulty with adjusting water temperature. Please!! Traditional Irish music in the Bar/Lounge! We went there for dinner hoping to hear Irish music. What a sad disappointment to find US country music. The musicians were talented, but we wanted IRISH!
Review 16:Temple Gate Hotel is such a stately, beautiful, unusual hotel. The employees at the desk are terrific, the hotel is spotless, has all the modern amenities, the meals are delicious, the beds are wonderful, and the location is absolutely the best in Ennis. I love this hotel! This was my second stay, and we will be back in 2017.
Review 17:Could use some updating..mainly bathrooms and rugs in the rooms.
Review 18:Beautiful pub and location to town were great..they have a concert-banquet room that is very unique to have a wedding event or musical tour concert. Staff were very helpful..walking distance to many pubs and restaurants. Liked the security doors at each end of the floors for safety.
Review 19:We had a king executive and the bed was not quite a queen size. It was too small for the two of us to fit comfortably. The pillows are spongy and a bit hard. The room a bit small for an executive king...expected more size and comfort.
Review 20:The location of the hotel is ideal for walking around Ennis. The hotel is in a quiet location. Free parking is a plus. Rooms were very clean.
Review 21:The big sofas in the lobby are ugly, look old, and look very uncomfortable so I would never sit there.
Review 22:The staff are friendly, helpful and professional
Review 23:Can be noisy (outside noise) due to central location and buses depending on location of room
Review 24:Great location and staff, have used 2 years running, would use again
Review 25:Pub had great live tradional music. Staff very helpful with suggestions. You can yrust they point you in the right direction for great holiday memories.
Review 26:Some waiting / bar staff weren't friendly. Need training. Looked like they didn't want to be working or talking to anyone. Temperature in bedroom was uncomfortably hot, even with the window open.
Review 27:Great location. Very friendly and helpful at reception. Clean and comfortable hotel.
Review 28:Nice pubs and restaurants but most closed on the Monday night we were there.
Review 29:East ride to airport from hotel. Free parking in a town where parking is difficult. Nearby Taylor's Pub was a great pub for our last pint of Guinness before going home. Also, this pub would be a comfortable and safe place for single women, traveling on their own, to go to for a drink.
Review 30:the lobby furnishings are extremely uncomfortable.
Review 31:Great hotel and location. Can walk everywhere. The hotel was very comfortable and the meals top notch.
Review 32:Temperature was in the 50s and damp due to raining all day, but the heat was not turned on during the entire period we were there (3 nights)
Review 33:It's central location and free parking.
Review 34:Our preferred place to stay when in Ennis.. They maintain the high standard of quality and service during all these (10) years. Location fabulous, pub (preachers) very cosy good food. A pleasure to be there.
Review 35:Nothing
Review 36:The staff were amazing, very helpful and polite. The hotel is situated in an excellent location right in the heart of town, which meant that everything wad accessible. Great bar!
Review 37:Poor WiFi, not suitable for business or cloud dependent applications. Poor TV, most of local stations missing and few satelite stations. Poorly set up with noisy images even after a substitute TV provided.
Review 38:Location and access to town. Friendly helpful staff, and good bar food.
Review 39:i did not like the towels in the bathroom.ie they were very small if you wanted to have a bath ,even for drying after the shower they were not great
Review 40:location, staff very nice
Review 41:Noise from returning guests both outside and inside the hotel in the early hours had everyone wakened. (perhaps it was the location of our room) Over priced for quality of room. Not enough towels and extra towels not supplied when requested.
Review 42:Great location in the centre of Ennis town. Free parking. Bedroom was adequate but no space to spare. Waiting staff for breakfast were very helpfuly and friendly. Breakfast was very nice.
Review 43:Room for 3 people had only set of towels for two as well cups, spoons were only for two. Very poor view from window - a wall.
Review 44:Welcoming and service, design, restaurant, comfy bedrooms and very nice bathroom.
Review 45:My first choice to stay over the years as a family and solo. The staff is pleasant, polite and helpful. The hotel has an excellent location in the town centre.
Review 46:Our room was at the front of the Hotel. Very noisy in the morning with traffic. Woken up at 6 with that I thought was bin lorries.
Review 47:Ideal location in Ennis. Right in the centre of town. Food was delicious in the restaurant. Staff so friendly and helpful.
Review 48:The hotel seemed a bit out of place. Newer with an older vibe to it. Needs updates. Beds were terribly uncomfortable and loud w/paper thin walls and windows.
Review 49:We stayed here because it was close to the Shannon airport, where we were flying out of. The hotel was nice for the area, and the staff was pleasant. Cool bar and great food there, although our service at the bar was terrible.
Review 50:This is a great place to stay in Ennis. We enjoyed every single miinute of our long weekend. Great rooms, comfy beds, fantastic breakfast. The staff are all wonderful!! Very friendly. We didn't want to leave but will certainly be back again and again.
Review 51:The rooms could definitely use some updating. Very outdated style in the bedrooms. The furniture was old as well as the bathroom fixtures. The toilet handle was broken in our room, etc.
Review 52:The hotel decor in the lobby was cute and the location was great to to town. Staff was friendly. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Breakfast sunroom was adorable. Restaurant looked great really lovely style in there (though we didn't have time to eat there). Easy walk to bus for airport or getting to Galway/Limerick.
Review 53:We didn't have our breakfast on our deal and because we had full breakfast each morning it caused quiet a stir in the dining room All the other Residents were fully aware of the fact it got embarrassing and we didn't enjoy our breakfast that we paid 12.50 We will not be returning
Review 54:Location great Hotel was clean Staff nice
Review 55:I would not complain about anything.
Review 56:The hotel was very centrally located in the town within walking distance of everything. However, it was very peaceful and quiet and there was no noise to be heard at night, despite staying there over a busy weekend. The rooms were comfortable. All of the staff we interacted with - at Reception, Housekeeping and in the Bar - were very helpful and friendly. Free and convenient parking.
Review 57:The bed was hard and squeeky, there was no temperature control in the room (and the hotel heating was variable) and there was some noise from the many buses (and some noise from late-departing pub patrons).
Review 58:Good location, friendly staff, pretty building, nice shower.
Review 59:The bedrooms need a lift if they are going to charge the prices they do. Definitely new TVs are required.
Review 60:Staff were nice, food in Preachers nothing special but sufficient
Review 61:Very old inefficient TV and cold downstairs room. Not as nice as the ones I usually get when staying there. First time I was disappointed there!
Review 62:Location of hotel. Proximity to shops and Railway station.Great staff and food
Review 63:Disappointed could not get food after 9.30. Our flight was late, we had been looking forward to eating at the hotel but ended up with a takeaway. Also last breakfast on Saturday morning 10.00am. Most hotels are 11.00am.
Review 64:Comfortable, Staff very nice and helpful. No problem serving us a late breakfast having slept in .
Review 65:Breakfast service very slow because only 1 chef on, cooking for a large number of guests. Waiting staff were very pleasant!
Review 66:Great location, close to everything but quiet at night
Review 67:While there was plentry of hot water for the bath and basin, the shower really didn't get hot. Bed could be bigger!
Review 68:Staff were mainly local and very friendly and helpful. Dinner in the restaurant was good quality and good value. No noise at night even though there was a good crowd staying. Great location - onloy minutes from main streets.
Review 69:Finding the location and parking outside beside a supermarket was off putting. Room facilities for an executive suite was absurd. In all my years traveling it was the worst and I will never recommend it.
Review 70:Very pleasant staff.
Review 71:bed quite small definetly not double size was disappointed shower was in bath as had requisted a walk in shower.
Review 72:central location food excellent and of course th e excellent friendly staff'.
Review 73:The two nights we stayed there, i was woken up at 3.30 am & 3.45 am by either a noisey guest or staff clattering around in high heels on tiled floor, running water & flushing toilets. after an hour or more each night, all quiet...
Review 74:The location of the hotel is excellent, near everything in Ennis which is a great town. Our twin room had a double bed & a single bed, was very cosy, with ensuite bathroom, flat screen tv & tea & coffee with biscuits. lovely.
Review 75:The staff serving the food weren't as helpful and also the food was extremely slow to come out!! The wifi was also very slow... The rooms were extremely hot too!!
Review 76:The staff were brilliant very friendly and the room was lovely :)
Review 77:I wish my busy schedule would have allowed me to stay and extra night.
Review 78:I seem to return to this hotel every year and each experience is better than the previous. Staff are always so friendly and accommodating Food is always good I certainly will be back again next time and constantly recommended it to my friends and work collegues.
Review 79:Tv reception in our room 510 needs serious tlc, reminded me of the old analog tv days the snow on the screen was that bad,no rte news now, channel, some hot chocolate as well as the tea and coffee would be a nice inclusion and would make this hotel stand out from the rest, the tv was as bad as it got,
Review 80:Staff are friendly, professional,an asset to the hotel, breakfast was very good, nice quiet hotel, I would not hesitate recommending this establishment,or staying here again, even the proprietor has a smile when he passes you by, makes you feel welcome and appreciated as a customer, my girlfriends opinion is that the hotel is simply excellent, she said staff were friendly and well mannered,I salute you temple gate hotel,!!! First time ive ever heard her praise a hotel so highly!!!!!:-D
Review 81:The charges were not unreasonable for the hotel. However it is an expensive trip for me, on my own and a better deal on the room might of helped
Review 82:Quality and location was perfect.
Review 83:There is wifi which works reasonably well but maybe a bit weak in some rooms.
Review 84:Great location in the center of town. Very comfortable hotel with nice pub and restaurant. Staff are always accommodating and extremely warm and helpful. A perfect place to stay in Ennis and for travels in County Clare.
Review 85:The hotel is easy to find but getting to its parking lot is tricky due to one way streets. The signage for that could be improved.
Review 86:It's only a 15 minute drive from Shannon and is located in a lovely town with lots of restaurants/pubs/shops, all within walking distance.
Review 87:No dislikes.
Review 88:This was a return visit, and just like last time, our stay was perfect, from very friendly receptionist/staff, and a hearty breakfast to set you up for the day. Free parking, right in the middle of things...No complaints, and will call again when we are down that end of the country.
Review 89:We were in a room with a boiler going all night which was most annoying because we were looking forward to a good night sleep
Review 90:We had a eaving meal one of the evening in the dining room it was excellent
Review 91:Really noisy at night. Our room was by the public car park so late night coacheswith drunken revellers were out there all night shouting and screaming. Finally noise died down about 4.30am
Review 92:Good for partying
Review 93:Breakfast not included. It took numerous calls and over a week to get a holding charge taken off my credit card although I had paid in cash. It is rated as a 4 star and so far from that in my opinion.
Review 94:Centrally located.
Review 95:The staff gave really poor directions on getting to the airport. Glad I had a gps. Had to go to the desk "3" times in order to get someone to help me get out of the parking lot, as the coins were very difficult to get in the machine. Breakfast not great, and staff has difficulty understanding"english" in dining room at breakfast!
Review 96:the location was great in terms of getting to Shannon. lots of options of places to eat quiet for the most part for sleeping - except of the group of about 20 young people at around 2 a.m. departing some club.
Review 97:Dinner and breakfast weren't of a good level, but fair..The woman at the reception seemed to be bothered by our arrival and show ed a cold attitude
Review 98:The location of Ennis: handy to trips to Dingle Peninsula, to Cliffs of Moher and to Galway.
Review 99:Carpet in room dirty. Bed hard and uncomfortable. Not allowed to have late drink in the bar-requested by staff to take drink to lobby.
Review 100:Proximity to town.
Review 101:Breakfast was not great and doubtful whether it was value for money. General cost of the hotel was high although limited availability in Ennis probably dictates.
Review 102:Location was fantastic and the general cleanliness, etc was superb.
Review 103:Catherine the lady who booked us in and out was fantastic. So so friendly, taking the time to chat to us and make recommendations for restaurants and bars locally. The electricity was out in the town the morning we were leaving she said she would post out our receipt and it was waiting for us upon our return. We had a fantastic and much needed sleep for our 1night stay. The bed was really comfy and the black out curtains the best we have ever come across in a hotel. We did not eat in the hotel but have no hesitation in saying we would definitely return. Hope the management know what an asset they have in Catherine..
Review 104:Check in was excellent and the (very dark haired) receptionist could not have been more efficient and helpful - as she was to all customers we saw her deal with. A great town centre location.
Review 105:There was a lot of noise due to the celebrating leaving certificate students. However, staff had warned us about this annual phenomenon and we were prepared.
Review 106:Location, parking and the very helpful reception staff including Elaine and Catherine, also restaurant staff.
Review 107:Noisy, can't sleep with open window, no airco. After 4am the nightclub crowd finally went home in cabs and we could finally open the window a little bit.
Review 108:Staff, restaurant and pub
Review 109:In the heart of Ennis, close to everything. Convenient car parking provided. Great freshly cooked breakfast. Enjoyed listening to the excitement of the crowd at the nearby Hurling final.
Review 110:The room was hot but to be fair the weather was very warm. there was noise as others came back to the hotel and the buses in the morning.
Review 111:The location, decor and staff in the hotel, food excellent.
Review 112:Being there in a mini heatwave, would have appreciated air conditioning
Review 113:Located in the centre or Ennis, part of the hotel is an old convent. It has a great courtyard, anf is really quiet, despite its central location. Free parking and wi-fi are good bonuses
Review 114:Room overlooking alley, lots of cigarette buttes. Breakfast so-so, restaurant empty, long time before being served (20 min to get coffee), wait staff involved chatting with other customers & clearing tables, buffet emptied of juice & other items - not the Irish breakfast we enjoyed elsewhere. But again just a one-night stay between amazing, so OK.
Review 115:Friendly front desk staff, great location near center of town, convenient parking (free), clean, beautiful lobby and library. Fine for one night between B&Bs.
Review 116:We had a very nice overnight stay the The Temple Gate Hotel after arriving at Shannon in the early evening. The location was terrific and we walked right around the corner and had an incredibly fun evening at Brennan's Pub. The hotel was quiet, comfortable and a nice value. We really loved the town of Ennis too.
Review 117:Room overlooking carpark. Bus stop for express to Dublin there also. Bit noisy. Also top sheet on bed would be good as duvet very warm these summer days.
Review 118:Very central. In Ennis town centre. staff very helpful and friendly. Spotless Hotel.Comfortable rooms. Good bar and food served there all day.
Review 119:Hotel feels a bit "tired", cushions bedroom look grubby. Could be dispensed with or new ones. Stuffing falling from bottom of chairs in dining room. Artificial hedging tacky. No control in room for temp. Too hot and couldn't leave window open.
Review 120:Location good. Warm welcome from Catherine and very helpful. Food ok but have had better in Ennis. Overall value for money on a deal offer.
Review 121:Nothing not to like
Review 122:Love the location!
Review 123:Everything. Lovely hotel.
Review 124:Nice clean hotel ,good location
Review 125:Poor quality bed linen and towels
Review 126:Location
Review 127:No leisure centre
Review 128:Excellent location .very Pleasent and helpful staff
Review 129:The Friendly staff and very helpful. Very close to all amenities
Review 130:The lift was a bit slow and jumpy!!
Review 131:The location was fantastic yet plenty of parking.
Review 132:Great city centre location. Very comfortable rooms and excellent food in bar. Staff very welcoming and helpful.
Review 133:The shower wasn't a walk in one
Review 134:The location
Review 135:Very convenient location to the main downtown area. Within walking distance of shops and restaurants.
