Reviews for Kenmare Bay Hotel Holiday Homes
Review 1:We stayed in one of the houses and felt that it was a little tired and may benefit from a make over - wouldn't stop us returning however!
Review 2:Very relaxing with good food and excellent service
Review 3:The carpet was worn and dirty/stained in places. The downstairs bathroom had a slight mildew smell. The washer/"dryer" unit washed the clothes but didn't really dry them - we had to find a laundromat to finish drying the clothes.
Review 4:Friendly, helpful staff; nice, big house; great price; good location for Ring of Kerry. Overall pretty clean, except for some stains on the carpet.
Review 5:House 15 was in poor repair. The walls were scuffed and dirty looking. A few of The kitchen cupboard doors were replaced so the kitchen was miss matched. The Curtin pole in the kitchen was missing the end stopper and so was the towel wrack in the master bathroom. The bedroom furniture was old and the stain was wearing off the lockers. The picnic bench at house 15 was very faded and no staining on it.
Review 6:The location was excellent. So central. We booked four holiday homes and got them all together.
Review 7:The house needs to have a lick of paint and maybe update/repair the kitchen.
Review 8:We liked the location of the holiday homes and the town of Kenmare is ideal as a place to stay when visiting Kerry.
Review 9:I didn't unlike anything.the weather not great but can't control that!
Review 10:Very comfortable holiday home.....better than I had expected. It was obvious it was used frequently by families and maybe needs a refresh. Cupboard doors replaced by un matching woods for example but it's very practical for holiday makers....everything you need is in the house.....iron,washing machine, tumble dryer etc
Review 11:Holiday Home was maintained to a high standard and was very clean. 5 minute walk to Kenmare Centre. As a group of friends staying for a few days break we didn't go wrong booking here. Requested BBQ and it was delivered (a gas one) to the house cleaned and ready to go.
Review 12:Nothing major we only used one bedroom but found the previous occupants must have been smokers we are non smoker's there was a smell of cigerate smoke
Review 13:The freedom and space of a home environment
Review 14:Carpets old and need replacement. Electric shower in one bathroom was temperamental. None of these are show stoppers but need fixing to get an excellent rating
Review 15:Location, access to town, available breakfast was good value and convenient in the main hotel. House is perfect for 5 people but can accommodate 6 or 7 depending on your needs.
Review 16:hot water in shower was sporadic - but the staff immediately took care of it
Review 17:great holiday home, confortable and clean, equiped with everything you need
Review 18:We rented two holiday lets. Both clean, pleasantly surprised as 4 beds in total and one a double. Had a small arrangement of tea and coffee sachets and milk in fridge on arrival so could have a cuppa and relax before buying stock. Close to town 5-10 min walk, with a lighted path leading from the homes. Could use swimming pool and gym free of charge, just remember to bring a hat as compulsory, but only 2 euro if you forget. If you want breakfast can walk up slope to hotel and is just 9.95 euro for full Irish!! Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Pubs have live music every night we were there. Love Kenmare!!!!
Review 19:The combo washer and dryer took two hours for the color wash cycle and you had to unload half the wash load to dry (more than an hour each half load). Taking the unnecessary 1/2 bath down stairs into a full laundry room would be better.
Review 20:The rooms were clean, roomy and comfortable. The full kitchen was great, dining area sat 8 easily and the sliding door out back opened to a small yard but right behind us was a field with grazing sheep. 2 + 1/2 baths also in this condo makes this also an ideal vacation timeshare near Ring of Bears (which was really great).
Review 21:Lot of small decorative flaws need to be sorted out. Door stops obviously defective which then left handle impact damage to walls in several rooms. This is an hours work for a good handyman.
Review 22:Overall very good. Good size house, garden good leisure centre. Close to path to town centre very useful.
Review 23:blinds on windows were in need of repair and fixing. and some bathroom fixtures coming away from walls, need a good handy man in to sort all this. otherwise v good
Review 24:can use hotel facilities, including pool do not have to bring your own towels fire log to start fire
Review 25:We spoke with 3 staff members and 2 of them seemed very flat and disinterested. Came away from them wishing they'd at least smiled.....but that's fine I guess.
Review 26:The spaciousness and quality of the house. It had a great "feel" to it. The resort pool is a bonus. The location was pivota to many scenic attractions.
Review 27:Shower in bathroom not great. Poor wifi and damaged shower en suite but did not spoil break
Review 28:I liked the friendliness of the staff. I left some clothes behind and it was not a prob to send them to me in Spain. Will definitely stay again
Review 29:Everything was perfect! the location was fab just a stroll form the pubs and everything the town has to offer! We were staying to attend a wedding and it was ideal!
Review 30:Location is not in a start point of the ring. It was my second station as I went clockwise, but it can be your end of day station before you'll keep on.
Review 31:The Cottages are in fare rates and can accommodate up to 5 people + 3 children. There's a gas station and a Centra store near by.
Review 32:Small double bed and poor wifi reception in the house.
Review 33:Quiet, well appointed holiday home in good position for exploring the Ring of Kerry and Killarney National Park. The Hotel Bar was good for a drink and food.
Review 34:Your desk personnal don`t speak French !

Review 69:Pillows. Everyone had trouble sleeping
Review 70:Location, space, use of facilities
Review 71:Quiet location. Walkable to town center. Convenient and free parking.
Review 72:It took we Americans a while to figure out how to turn on the shower!
Review 73:We had been traveling Europe for three weeks with our family of six...it was such a nice break from hotels to stay in a home where our kids could spread out! The market is so close; you can grab cereal and toast for breakfast which is also a welcome change! Kenmare is a beautiful little town perfect to center your touring of ring of Kerry! The house was clean and had everything we needed and was very reasonably priced for accommodating such a large group.
Review 74:Breakfast while ok was not at the high standard that the rest of the hotel was at
Review 75:Size of apartment, cleanness was also excellent. Lovely location. Leisure centre was also very nice. Hygiene and upkeep of the facility was also excellent.
Review 76:The internet was not strong enough from the houses but was in the office
Review 77:The staff was friendly and efficient. They were really super! When we had trouble working an appliance they sent a person over to help. They were all very nice!
Review 78:Too short - had to go home
Review 79:Last minute booking - great value - Fabulous Accommodation -spacious, very modern and spotlessly clean - all mod cons. The extras i.e. teabags, milk sachets, soap/shampoo dispensers in bathroom, leisure facilities excellent. 3 minutes walk to town centre down lovely pathway. Staff in Reception & Bar so welcoming, friendly and efficient. Staff member showed us one of the luxury lodges - we will be back.
Review 80:Bar dinners not great, but only a five minute walk into Kenmare, no big deal
Review 81:Very clean lodges, and well fitted out, pool sauna/steam and spa very very good, just what four Grumpy Old Men touring Ireland on motorbikes needed, breakfasts in hotel super ! Have stayed here before and always liked it.
Review 82:Playroom in the hotel could do with some better toys. Air hockey table had no puck to use.
Review 83:House was really nice. Modern and comfortable and very warm. Pool was great very the kids. Good location. Staff lovely.
Review 84:check in times were 4pm and check out was 10am which was difficult with a baby to get organised so early
Review 85:Holiday homes were lovely, spacious and comfortable.
Review 86:Nothing I can complain about.
Review 87:We loved the spacious rooms, warm ambiance and well equipped kitchen. There is great scope for a family to enjoy its break in comfort. We have stayed with hotel -both on site and in Holiday Homes, numerous times; and always return home, wishing we could stay longer.
Review 88:We stayed with a 14month old and 3 year old and the houses were fantastic very spacious and had everything we needed. My 3 yr old still wondering when we are going to our new house again.Really enjoyed our nights stay wish it could have been longer.
Review 89:Pull out bed - not working Check out a bit too early Slightly on expensive side
Review 90:Modern spacious, clean well equipped, lovely, great staff that we met
Review 91:The HIGH increase in cost for the kids club in comparison to last year, Price up over 100%, was €3 euro per child in the evening last year, this year it was €7 , which was very to expensive, there wasn't even a reduced rate for the 2nd or 3rd or 4th child, I did ask: I would say that for the baking class in the day might be worth €7 euros as it is very good but still could be a bit cheaper,
Review 92:we stayed in one of the houses located at the hotel and was very suitable for family of 6 (4 small children) , all mod cons, great location, friendly staff, Kids loved it.
Review 93:The accommodation was tatty and needed a facelift. We stayed in house 4 where the plastic was coming away from the cheap kitchen cupboards; the sofas were tatty and uncomfortable and the whole place needed a good clean (cobwebs everywhere, windows were dirty, dust behind the beds and the carpet should just be thrown out).
Review 94:Kenmare was lovely. The facilities in the hotel itself were fine; the children loved the pool
Review 95:My biggest complaint is about the washer/drier which was a tiny combination unit. It took hours to wash and dry our clothes. The refrigerator was also very small, although this did not present as big of a problem. Channel selection on the TV was limited.
Review 96:The location couldn't be better, just minutes from the main part of town. The apartment was perfect for our family as it had three bedrooms, two and a half baths and a spacious living area. The apartment was clean, although a little worn.
Review 97:everything; the house, the location, the friendy staff, the restaurant, the fact that you could walk to the town with an abundance of restaurants
Review 98:Some carpets and upholstery were stained and needed replacing. TV was small, old fashioned and maximum volume was very low. Walls opposite the homes and adjoining the garden needed painting.
Review 99:Well appointed and equipped holiday home. Good base for exploring the area. Proximity to Kenmare town with many fine eateries. Staff were cheerful, friendly and helpful.
Review 100:Holiday homes are in need of minor repairs ie. mdf table legs have swelling in places where they got wet. Kitchen cabinets are peeling and small bits of mildew on net curtains in ensuite bathroom.Again, only minor repairs.
Review 101:Reception staff very nice. Beds in holiday home very comfortable. Bar in hotel has been extended which has improved the atmosphere. Closed in area in pet friendly house so I could let my dog out without the worry of him straying. Really enjoyed our stay.
Review 102:I have stayed in the holiday cottages before - on my previous stays I was in the more 'luxurious' of the cottages. On this occasion the house I stayed in was very shabby in comparison - I know that it was a 'pet friendly' house but I still think that chipped furniture is not acceptable and that good standards should be expected regardless of which house you have been assigned
Review 103:The location was good and proximity to the town centre was great. I also liked that we could bring our pets with us.
Review 104:Pull out sofa bed matress is too thin and not useable. We made a bed from the sofa cushions on the floor instead.
Review 105:House was large, New and well heated. All facilities provided. Walk to leisure centre/pool. Walk to Kenmare centre on safe traffic-free lane. Picturesque Kenmare town. Lovely local scenery.
Review 106:no games room for kids especially in evening, teenagers bored, only one bar open, no pool table for kids, wifi not working in houses
Review 107:houses clean and well heated, close proximity to the hotel and leisure centre close by, town within walking distance, also Killarney 30 mins drive.
Review 108:Can get very busy if weddings or events on in the hotel, houses are great value.
Review 109:Holiday homes very spacious, very friendly staff, delicious breakfast, nice leisure centre and jacuzzi. Very near Killarney for day trip, nice restaurants in Town only a few mins walk away on hotel's own lane in town
Review 110:Check out time was 10am which was very early for a Sunday especially when there were small children involved!
Review 111:We stayed for the w/end of 9/11th November and the holiday home was lovely-clean,warm,spacious,close to Kenmare town and value for money. We had access to the leisure centre which was great for the little people in our group.Overall a great weekend had by all.
Review 112:The only negative part of our stay was the size of the bar in the hotel is very small. We were not inclined to eat or drink there as it was very cramped.
Review 113:The holiday homes have all the facilities you could want and are very clean, warm and conveniently located only a 3 minute walk from the town.
Review 114:Driving through the Killarney National forest at night to get to hotel was a bit much but during the day it was a beautiful drive.
Review 115:Incredibly large holiday home..everything your family will need
Review 116:Our stay at Kenmare Holiday homes was wonderful. The front reception staff were warm, friendly and went out of their way to be helpful with sight seeing tips. We were travelling with two small dogs and they provided us with a holiday home complete with fenced yard. We would definitely recommend this hotel to fellow travellers and hope to afford the opportunity to return again!
Review 117:Holiday home was immaculate and very spacious. Also very well equipped for family living. Location was within 3min stroll to town along secure well lit path. Also great pool facilities for whole family.
Review 118:The staff couldnt have been more helpful. The pool was clean and warm. The location was excellent with lots of walks nearby. Couldnt fault it -would definately recommend it to everyone.
Review 119:Unable to acces the gym or pool when wandering on facility to check whatwas on site. Wish there was better explaination on how to get to hotelas both routes equal amount of time to get to destination but one wayless harrowing than the other. 45 min.-1 Hour form Killarney to Kenmare. Also wished there was more info on the National Park as apparently thereare many parking sites all through the park ie: Musgrove, Killarneyentrance and others which is free but to enter to the abbey, house andcastle there is admission.
Review 120:3 adults stayed at 3 bedroom house rather than the hotel which is onsame site. Big complex beautifully kept. House was clean and had all theupdated amenities needed. Ktichen stove and oven not working sohotel/house complex included the fine dining or bar restaurants forbreakfast and dinner - a treat in itself!! Would highly recommend thiscomplex to stay. A small town 5 min. Walk away has gas stations, restuarants, shopping and grocery store ( super valu ). On Wed. There isan small open market. Town is cozy and people frieindly.
Review 121:Needing maintenance personnel. Home was not prepared for our arrival:heat and hot water not on, no clear instructions on how to operate somesystems. As Americans, we are not familiar with the nuances of thesesystems and, according to the maintenance man who helped us, the staffshould have provided instructions upon our arrival.
Review 122:Good location with easy walk to town. Having laundry facilities for ourtrip. Friendly maintenance personnel.
Review 123:Indoor play area for kids is too small and unsafe. Football table in theplayroom is lethal as the handles sticking out could easily injury ayoung child.
Review 124:The first lodge we checked into was very grubby with stains on the rugsand sofas. Not good!! We asked for a change of lodge and this wasbetter. This is not 4 star or even five star, the lodges are nice butbasic. We ate in the resturant one of the nights and again the food wasok service was shocking the waitress was in a hurry home and we got ourcoffee then 10mins later our dessert and the bill with it.. The pool isgood for young children but they have swimming lessons every day from3ish and the pool is then packed to capacity and is not enjoyable. Iwould not return as there is defnitely better value out there and thereis nothing for kids in kenmare.
Review 125:Check-out of the holiday homes is 10 o'clock which is a bit early whentheres small kids...
Review 126:Beautiful location...friendly staff...kids club was excellent...veryenjoyable stay
