Reviews for Banner Lodge Guest House

Review 1:Good location, walking distance to shops, pubs, restaurants. Friendly owner. Big bathroom with bath and shower, soft comfortable bed. Basic breakfast, cereals, yoghurt, cheeses toast (no eggs or bacon etc) but quite adequate. Good value for a reasonable price.

Review 2:Walls are too thin. You can hear the people in the neighboring room almost as if they are in your own room.

Review 3:Good location: close to the Cliffs of Moher, Galway and Limerick, and right next to the heart of Ennis. Very friendly proprietor. Nice breakfast.

Review 4:Decor a little outdated

Review 5:Staff friendly, went to check out I was asked nicely and encouraged even to indulge in some breakfast before I left. Great value for money

Review 6:The: climb up the stairs, lack of information about a breakfast which we didn't know we were entitled to, uncomfortable beds and shabby linen that made us concerned about being under the covers.

Review 7:Bathroom was reasonably sized and tidy.

Review 8:Rooms were dusty. no hot water, no towels in the room. Found towels in the hallway on the table. Remote didn't work, furniture is a bit outdated

Review 9:Great Location in the middle of the town. Good price for two nights. Staff very friendly.

Review 10:We paid for two rooms and was given a room with one door and one bathroom and then seperate doors for the beds it wasn't ideal. No hairdryer and room had a annoying tick all night so couldn't sleep. No reception and no staff around

Review 11:Was suitable location for purpose of the trip

Review 12:Excellent location right in the middle of town. Great value for money if you are on a budget. Plenty to eat at breakfast and tea and coffee facilities all day.

Review 13:Great value for money, huge room (2 bedrooms with double beds and a tv in each), great location, continental breakfast, nice host. Basic facilities, but mostly what you need and worth it for the price. Would stay again.

Review 14:The room was very musty, window wide open to get rid of smell. Good job it was a warm night. Furnishings in bad repair, old. I didn't see breakfast type mentioned but when I checked the single rate in the hotel without breakfast, the breakfast was a lot for what we got. No cooked breakfast, just sort of continental.

Review 15:The location was good to walk to venue. The room was large but maybe as only room left, with two double beds

Review 16:This is not a guest house, its a hostel. I dont think you should be leading people astray in letting them think they are staying in a guesthouse..

Review 17:Nothing

Review 18:The only thing I missed (but this also applied to some other B&B's in Ireland we visited) was not having a kettle in the room. In future, I'll always bring a travel kettle just in case. There were free tea and coffee facilities along corridor, but it's always nice to have it in the room.

Review 19:Having requested a twin room (two girls travelling together), we were thrilled to be given a huge room with two double beds with dividing wall... in effect two rooms. The space was much appreciated. Also, the friendly welcome of the proprietor.

Review 20:Room smelly, noisy, dark linen and towels. Single bed despite ordering a double. Shower etc ???? No hairdryer/iron. door vibrated with every move. breakfast ????

Review 21:Not a lot

Review 22:Since our arrival was before check-in, we e-mailed Banner Lodge twice about stowing luggage till check-in. There was no e-mail response to queries - uncertainty. (Host took care of luggage as needed.) No other negatives to report!

Review 23:This may not be modern, fancy lodging, but the host was very social and remarkably helpful. The room was extremely large, clean, and an excellent value. Toiletries were not provided so be sure to bring your own.

Review 24:Was centrally located in the town so perfect walk to find a nice restaurant for dinner. Rooms very comfortable and manager / owner very friendly and welcoming, highly recommend.

Review 25:No - certainly not a bad experience. But the facilities are very basic, so if more comfort is important to you, pick another place. You are not getting a full Irish breakfast, so if that is important, pick another place. Interestingly - on the same note: the shower worked much better than on, ahem, other places in town ;-)

Review 26:1) The central position in town was important to me. 2) The price is more than fair 3) The atmosphere is very, very welcoming. Lovely people.

Review 27:no reception so difficult to know what to do when you first arrived, plus difficult to get hold of the staff at times

Review 28:friendly staff, good location, value for money

Review 29:The room was lovely and warm, the bed very comfortable, the bathroom very clean and the shower easy to use with great water pressure. The continental breakfast was great (fruit, cereal, meat, cheese, yoghurt, soda bread, toast, pastries were all on offer when I stayed). The hotel is right in the centre of Ennis, the host is kind and welcoming and it's amazing value for money.

Review 30:The place was in a great central location, lovely and warm, each bedroom had a TV, the free wifi was great but best if all was the breakfast, although an Irish fry up it was superb, with croissants, fruit bread, a good variety of fruits and a lot of different cereals.

Review 31:We love the banner lodge its bang smack in the centre of everything so it makes a cheap weekend with no taxis... We are coming back to the banner lodge for the last 3-4 years.

Review 32:Hotel is in the city center, near the main st surrounded by lot of pubs and small restaurants. The owner is one of the kindest persons I've ever met, and the room was massive, with two double beds and even the bidet!

Review 33:We would have preferred better lighting especially in the bathroom. One of the lights was not working. Also would have liked to have access to BBC 1. We could only get ITV!

Review 34:We really liked the location and the owner.

Review 35:Room could of been hoovered better rolly butt left in the room and red stain on wall

Review 36:central location easy to fine. Parking across the road. Reasonable price

Review 37:parking can be a problem Monday to Saturdays during the day

Review 38:the efficiency and hassle free way in which we were dealt with.also the quality of the room and accommodation.

Review 39:Shower gel or soap would have been handy .brought my own.

Review 40:Location . price...no hassle. Very easy going. Well worth the money will definitely stay again...

Review 41:Suppose to be smoke free, but 1st room smelled like cigarettes so we asked for another room. 2nd room didn't smell so bad, but cigarette burn holes were on the comforter. No liquid soap in the bathroom dispenser ... luckily we always travel with our own soap. The towels were ripping apart at the edges. The TV only got a few channels. Being in the city the garbage truck woke us up sometime between 4:30 -5 am. Thin walls; we could hear people next to us coughing that seemed as if they were in the room with us.

Review 42:The only reason I'd recommend staying at the Banner Lodge is: Location; we could easily walk the town. Price & room decor.

Review 43:Wi-fi didn't work, room had an odd layout and there was little communication from the staff.

Review 44:Location in town made it easy to go out and find food and a grocery store. Price was great for services provided.

Review 45:If 'nit-picking', a little more dusting here and there would have been nicer but did not spoil the stay!

Review 68:Worn out hotel Parking

Review 69:Hospitality

Review 70:It looked like it needed a lick of paint externally

Review 71:This is an old building, full of Nik naks but towels and bed linen could do with being replaced

Review 72:Hot day no A/C

Review 73:Location, cleanliness

Review 74:Weak wifi. Tiny bathroom.

Review 75:Location quite convenient. Good breakfast

Review 76:Comfmortable room, good location

Review 78:The central location of the B & B in Ennis town

Review 79:Location and size of rooms, very friendly owner.

Review 80:The owner is very nice & friendly.

Review 84:The bedroom

Review 85:The bedroom was rather shabby

Review 99:Location Good value for the price of the room

Review 100:Nothingg

Review 101:Everything

Review 102:No cooked breakfast.

Review 103:Central location. Everything within walking distance.

Review 104:Poor lighting in the room along with the room being hot in July. The beds need new mattresses.

Review 105:Closeness to city centre.

Review 106:Lots of stairs so nowhere to store a pram + request for a baby bed remained unanswered until the very end of our stay

Review 107:That it's cheap and right in the city centre

Review 108:The mattress seemed a bit firm/old (but since I'm a young backpacker I'm not the best judge, I can sleep anywhere). I found it perfectly comfortable, but people with back issues may need to be aware.

Review 109:The owners are enthusiastic to help you. Great location near Ennis downtown made evening strolls easy and relaxing. I enjoyed the 'character' of the building and furnishings. Loved the breakfast room.

Review 110:There was a bit of misunderstanding of the booking when we arrived, so in the end we had to pay more than what the outside price sign showed. But I guess that is the fault of Booking.com. Obviously better to book directly with the owner.....

Review 111:We came for the fleadh in May and chose Banner Lodge because it is close to everything. Rooms were fine and so was the plentyful breakfast. Very friendly owner. Will definitely stay here again!

Review 112:rooms only have double beds, so room for four required to share , this is not apparent on information web site. position of tv is only viewed in one half so need to all be on one bed no access for disabled

Review 113:rooms spacious, breakfast -good continental, good variety. good location, for the cost, great budget accommodation clean, friendly, and central to ennis

Review 114:- rests were to see in the toilets from visitors before - towels were not clean - furnitures were dusty ...

Review 115:- the placement from guest house is very good, central of Ennis

Review 116:When you arrive you're supposed to dial 21 in the hall. Nobody answered. I tried the number in my confirmation e-mail. Nobody answered. After ten minutes a lady returned from some erinds and she was the staff. How about leaving a note? The guesthouse is really outdated. I had to wait for five minutes for the water in the shower to get warm. No wifi in my room. When I mentioned it the day after the landlord just replied "I know, it's not at all strong enough to reach the rooms". Then how about doing something about it!?

Review 117:The bed was alright.

Review 118:the friendliness and welcome feeling on arrival & the information about the town and what to do. it's a great place to stop going to a flight at Shannon.

Review 119:Room was a little dark and was sometimes hard to contact reception when upstairs (no doorbell or buzzer)

Review 120:The friendly staff who showed us the best places to go around town and upgraded our room, lovely breakfast spread, big variety, comfy bed, great shower and water pressure

Review 121:Only that I didn't stay there longer.

Review 122:Loved the location -- near to the centre of Ennis, musical pubs and sights around the town. Very friendly staff.
