Reviews for Ashford Court Boutique Hotel
Review 1:Unfortunately the fire alarm went off around 12.30am and there were no staff at the hotel to deal with it so we were outside in the cold for almost an hour. There ought to have been a night porter or someone near by to deal with it. Hairdryer wasn't working in the room but they replaced it as soon as I mentioned it.
Review 2:Great central location for Ennis, the rooms are really comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Delicious Breakfast
Review 3:No bar opened after 10 pm, and no draught beer before that time. The place was absolutely freezing and nowhere colder than the bedrooms. No night porter service, car parking space only for 5 cars. Breakfast eaten before the tea and toast arrived. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room, told to go to a converted bedroom for this facility only to find some dirty cups on the table, no clean ones and no milk/sugar available. The only thing i got from this hotel was a cold. The final thing was when we returned to the hotel after going out in the town was for the taxi driver to tell us we would be lucky if our car was still there in the morning.Would not recommend this hotel in any way.
Review 4:Nice friendly girl on reception, seemed to be the only member of staff in the whole hotel when we arrived.
Review 5:Eddie is a fierce nice young fella, very welcoming and full of information. Breakfast was great, high quality stuff. The room itself was fine, did the job, will stay here again.
Review 6:There was 13 of us staying and every moment of our stay was excellent, the staff were so friendly and helpful, the rooms were impeccable, they even had little hand draw maps of the town highlighting the restaurants and bars in the area, we are definitely returning again. Best experience in a hotel in a long time.
Review 7:We were greeted by a lovely man we presume was the owner . He was very helpful . He gave us a map and told us where to go for food and music . He also gave us late check out free of charge and even offered to hold some breakfast for us if we weren't up in time.
Review 8:Strange odour in foyer masked by air freshener: Smell of stale milk in my room from the stained carpet. Given key to an uncleaned room. No bedside light or ambient lighting in room. Storage heater didn't work. No shower curtain so water went on to floor. Tea making facilities in another room.
Review 9:I enjoyed my stay here in the end.. the bed & the pillows are so comfy, nice sheets..just what you want... And a great breakfast to follow...inc. home made cake, bread & scones Lovely staff.Good location. Looks modern & good parking.
Review 10:Turned out to be a bit far from the Ennis Education Centre, where the conference I was contributing to was located. No complaints about the hotel itself
Review 11:Clean, straight-forward hotel with excellent breakfast & warm welcome. Owner & staff charming
Review 12:Comfortable, Conveenient, near everything, incredibly friendly staff and a relaxed environment. What more could you ask for? This place is hotel quality run like a BNB. I've stayed here twice now and I'll be back again next year.
Review 13:Heating wasn't working in our room
Review 14:Staff were very kind and helpful. The breakfast was out of this world, fresly baked soda bread sill hot from the oven, scones, homebaked cakes, really exceptional.
Review 15:There is no restaurant and only a make shift bar which doesn't stay open late. The only place to relax would be in the room. Considering the price we were paying, we would have thought we would have had these facilities.
Review 16:The staff were really nice and were really friendly. The location is excellent.
Review 17:So it's all those little things that add up. Like breakfast, the butter was DISGUSTING..They NEED to have a selection of the miniature butters/spreads.More fresh fruit chopped maybe granola. It lacked facilities so really just a b&b.Bath was tiny!!!!...BUT STAFF ARE FAB!!! :)
Review 18:I liked the staff. Very friendly. I liked the fact that I got a good nights sleep due to a comfortable bed and no noise. It's really a big b&b not a hotel No tea/coffee, hairdryer etc in rooms
Review 19:The staff were super friendly and helpful. Lenka was a very gracious and kind hostess. The room was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was fantastic.
Review 20:No kettle in room - much needed. Very poor parking (little room). Bar closes at 10pm which is very poor, also little choice of beers. Should be a much cheaper price (other hotels for the same price offer much more).
Review 21:The staff were very friendly and nice breakfast.
Review 22:The staff often asked how they could make our stay more enjoyable, and they meant it. We met two concierge, and both were wonderful. We also enjoyed Bridie, who cooked delicious breakfasts for us.
Review 23:During a firealarm we did not get any information from the staff.... Not even the morning after. The Whole town smelled burned during our stay.
Review 24:Good location.
Review 25:First impression of the hotel was poor. Looked very dilapidated.
Review 26:The location was near to the town. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fresh and hot, very nice.
Review 27:The room was quite small but all facilities were available. Breakfast was very basic but nice.
Review 28:Staff were very friendly. Service was excellent. Location is a very short walk to town centre
Review 29:i dont normally review hotels but this hotel was excellent, the staff are a credit to the hotel, from the receptionist who greeted us so warmly to the staff serving breakfast, nothing was a problem. well worth a visit
Review 30:The hotel was comfortable and clean rooms. Breakfast service was excellent and each morning freshly baked scones were served. Although slightly out of town centre, it is convenient and a short walk.
Review 31:Sewage smell in reception area. On arriving at Hotel outside was very dull nearly drove off but decided to look inside.
Review 32:bed comfortable room good staff friendly and helpful.
Review 33:No tea making facilities in room. Only one bin in room, which was in the bathroom. Walls could use a paint.
Review 34:Location. Good sized bed. Clean. Good staff.
Review 35:The staff and owner are so friendly the hotel is very clean bathrooms shining no complaints at all location fantastic will be back soon its the nicest place iv stayed in Ennis well done to all the staff
Review 36:The location is downtown. 5 minutes walk to get to the town activity. No tea/coffee in the room, just a canteen on first floor.
Review 37:The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was very clean and up to date decor. Hotel parking was not a problem. The breakfast area was great.
Review 38:The fact that the hotel is referred to as a boutique hotel increases your expectations which are then not met
Review 39:The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was very good
Review 40:Not a bad experience but u should have two pillows on each bed; clean the bedroom (103) window more often; have tea making facilities in the bedroom, not in 105! Otherwise I liked my stay.
Review 41:Location. Free parking.
Review 42:Quirky arrangement for tea and coffee! Sink had a crack and the curtain blind was broken. Poor noise insulation. Overall, the decor of the room needed attention.
Review 43:Really comfortable bed and excellent breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 44:The rooms are a bit stuffy and I could detect a slight moldy smell in the hallways. Although we had a balcony room, there was no secure way to air out the room and have fresh air flow during sleeping. Perhaps a screen on the door might help?
Review 45:The comfort of the beds and the breakfast were the best we experienced during our 2 week stay. Located on the edge of the town, this is a nice fit for mature travelers. The rooms are large and the amenities are plenty.
Review 46:We arrived back to hotel at midnight after a concert and found no Bar open and no porter....also went to make a cup of coffee but found kettle empty and no water available..........
Review 47:the location was fab....and staff very helpful
Review 48:I was greatly disappointed with the owners lack of response to the problem with the window blind. As the thing would neither go up fully to see out during the day and more importantly would not come down fully at night. It is one of those annoying things that could so easily have been remedied during our two day stay!
Review 49:We liked the informality of the greeting of the receptionist Eddie and the rest of the staff. For ease of access to Ennis everything was within 10 minutes walking distance.
Review 50:The staff is enormously helpful, personable, friendly. Just plain dear. There is free parking, and the staff was so welcoming even though we arrived hours ahead of schedule.
Review 51:I did not like the very strong smell of Shake n' Vac that was in the room it made me feel sick
Review 52:A lovely hotel . Family run and the service and friendliness of staff was excellent . They were most helpful .
Review 53:Location a surprise . Parking ? Security
Review 54:Staff . Bar server sat late. Great way of serving eggs at breakfast , each per individual . None of the usual mess , a tray fill sitting in grease or oil , always puts me off. Thank you
Review 55:The only quibble i have is i would love to have tea and coffee facilities in my room, as i usually have a drink of tea or coffee in the night, and did not enjoy having to don clothes to get some but saying that i will difinitily stay there again
Review 56:The staff were so helpful, obliging and cheerful nothing seemed too much for them.
Review 57:The room we stayed in could have used a good cleaning and dusting. Also, the hair dryer was hanging from the socket in the sleeping area lying on the floor. This looked a little dangerous so I removed it and placed it in the bathroom. Also, upon arriving back to our room after a day out, the cleaning staff did a sloppy job of cleaning the room. The bedding was pulled up over the pillows in a very haphazard manner without one tucked corner. The towels in the bathroom were remained where we left them after our morning shower. Very sloppy cleaning job. We stayed in this hotel 5 years ago and enjoyed it then hence the return visit. Hopefully the cobwebs and dust will be taken care of before our next visit to Ireland.
Review 58:The breakfast was great! The staff was friendly, helpful and responsive to our questions and request.
Review 59:Would have liked if there was a proper bar with somewhere to sit, a hairdryer in the bathroom, and the tea and coffee in the room you stay in
Review 60:The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was fab
Review 61:Car parking spaces were limited.
Review 62:The location was great as within walking distance of town. The Hotel was very clean and well kept. The staff were very helpful and gave great advice on tourist attractions around area.
Review 63:Rooms were only adequate, blind wouldn't work in room, WiFi worked sometimes. In our first room the toilet wouldn't work so was moved to new room
Review 64:Staff so friendly, breakfast very nice
Review 65:The walls were quite paper thin, you could also see the door from the bed and as a result light was coming in under the crack of the door into the bedroom at night from the hallway. I had to put a shirt on the floor to block the light.
Review 66:The staff were very friendly and it was only a short walk from the town. The breakfast was lovely and the service was excellent.
Review 67:Outside of hotel needs a little attention! Nearly drove past ... Didn't think it was hotel ! But inside was good!
Review 68:Staff very nice, rooms v good, beds very comfortable and breakfast was excellent! All good!
Review 69:No bedside locker or lamp on one side of bed, no window in room except Velux rooflight very high up in ceiling, WHB cracked, mould around rim of bath, grubby shower curtain, wifi not working, weeds growing from restaurant porch roof.
Review 70:Friendly staff and tasty breakfast
Review 71:no draught beer on the premises. Bar didn't seem to be open most of the time. Rooms need a décor upgrade.
Review 72:the breakfast was good and very friendly staff who were very accommodating .
Review 73:It was only ok , hard to find in Ennis, room was small , iron did not work, wifi was not great . Breakfast I have to say was one of the worst we have every got. We came down around 9.30 a.m , very little hot food available , was eventually asked what kind of eggs we would like but by the time they came out we had finished what was left of a cold breakfast. could not get out of there fast enough
Review 74:Lovely hotel and friendly staff in a great location near town centre Fabulous breakfast and fresh scones each morning Will definately stay again next time I visit
Review 75:Corridors could do with a revamp, and maybe some extra lockers in the bedrooms
Review 76:Lovely friendly staff and owner, extremely helpful! Breakfast was delicious. Really enjoyed our stay!
Review 77:Crazy that rooms do not have shower curtain/panel which led to water on bathroom floor unavoidable. Breakfast on 2nd day was a disaster. No cooked food available @ 10.05. Eventually provided at 10.30
Review 78:Central location. Friendly & helpful staff.
Review 79:although the appearance of the area around the hotel is an odd mixture of industrial and residential, the location is convenient for getting into and out of town. It is also a rather short walk to the center of town so one can easily find a restaurant since there is little in the immediate area. Parking is a problem since there are few spaces at the property and there are restrictions in the residential area.
Review 80:location re Cliffs of Moher. The room accommodations were better than the expectations from the look of the hotel.
Review 81:Room could have done with a lick of paint, there were splash stains on the walls from tea or coffee. There wasn't a bedside locker and lamp which meant that the only means of lighting the room was by main switch...if you're ready to settle down for the night, you have to get up to switch off main light and then feel around along the bed!! There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, you had to go down one floor if you fancied a cuppa fist thing in the morning.
Review 82:Staff were very friendly at breakfast and ensured every need was catered for.
Review 83:The kettle went missing for well over an hour and when i located that there was no sugar left. there was also comotion downstairs by what appeared to be the people who ran the bar outside bar (they also had taken the kettle & were about to lock up at 10pm without putting the kettle back. the fighting, which included the child screaming was not pleasant and was loud
Review 84:The outside of the building. It needs a fresher look. We missed a restaurant and boutique within the hotel's premises.l
Review 85:The staff were very lovely and we felt at ease and really relaxed. The room was very suitable for us as family with small children; spacious enough, with nice beds and bathroom.
Review 86:A bit tired but they not the Ritz so don't expect the Ritz!
Review 87:Staff are very friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast, freshly cooked scones, full Irish, you could have eggs to order, cereal, fruit etc.
Review 88:Boutique Hotel? - one bed lamp, no shower curtain, one chair in room and no Sunday breakfast before 9 a.m. Not good enough
Review 89:Effort by chef to provide breakfast to 6 breakfasters who wanted some service before 9 a.m.
Review 90:there wasn't anything we didn't like could do with a lick of paint outside and a few more parking spaces but as we stayed midweek that didn't bother us .
Review 91:the staff were so friendly and nothing was to much trouble for them super friendly. there was a young man there didn't get his name but hes a gem and a great assist to the hotel ,
Review 92:All the staff were great . Tom gave us great hand drawn maps and ideas for day trips. Breakfast was great and we were really close to the city centre.
Review 93:Shabby.behind the taps in the bathroom in the bath was black with mould and there was a chunk missing out of the wall (not very big) but enough for it to be unforgivable
Review 94:Breakfast
Review 95:The place was dull.Dirty water container on second floor.Warm water in bath.On arrival drinkers had blocked up front door so had to try and get in near cars on side door. Cold plates for hot breakfast. Two single beds as a double and 1 locker.
Review 96:the bed was comfortable
Review 97:A last minute booking as we travelled around Ireland. The boss (can't remember his name) Was fantastic, gave us some great places to visit & his banter was hilarious! The room was beautiful & the breakfast in the morning was amazing & the staff couldn't do enough to help u! We will be staying here again.
Review 98:Nothing to dislike.
Review 99:Comfortable & friendly hotel in a quiet residential area yet only a short walk from the towns many pubs and restaurants. Great breakfast buffet.
Review 100:Bed was two singles together and both of them were not comfy at all. My pregnant partner had a horrible time sleeping.
Review 101:Staff were great. Location wise it was fine too.
Review 102:Very limited storage facilities in our room which was large and otherwise good. Only one bedside locker and reading light. Restaurant listed in brochure and on-line not operating in the evening.
Review 103:The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Very convenient for walking into Ennis for evenings out. Breakfast was fresh and of good quality.
Review 104:outside appearance very shabby Bedroom clean but very old fashioned furniture Bathroom sink and toilet needs repair Staff very helpful and polite breakfast Excellent
Review 105:The location is not the best for the city. It is northwest of city center, requiring about a 5-10 minute walk to good pubs.
Review 106:The staff was so great. Tom was so helpful and friendly. He went out of his way to tell us the best places to eat and see and provided great directions.
Review 107:WiFi wasn't picking up on our phones, as a painter need a new paint job
Review 108:Breakfast was great rooms were clean quiet outside wasn't far to walk to shops or the town
Review 109:Hotel has poor signage and was difficult to find. The outside appearance needs refreshing but is fine once inside.
Review 110:Hotel is well located and staff were very efficient and friendly. Rooms were clean and good breakfast was included.
Review 111:The toilet wasn't even flushed . The room was small and even the chair I had to clean to sit on it ! The whole building was dirty and shabby and horrible.
Review 112:There was nothing to like about this rundown dirty hotel . Extremely disappointed and when we complained we were offered £10 off . Disgusting
Review 113:We are spoiled by American plumbing.
Review 114:Great, friendly staff and wonderful breakfast. We were within 2-3 blocks of the old town center just by turning left out of the hotel.
Review 115:Didn't like room, was small, was like an attic room no windows just skylight. Also just one locker in a double room, not fit for 2 people. Only one chair in room. Definitely not a double room.
Review 116:Staff very friendly and helpful and breakfast excellent
Review 117:Maid service only came one time and we were there for three days. We could have used more frequent towel exchange. We were so busy I never got around to asking, but I'm sure they would have been responsive based on our experience.
Review 118:Staff was very welcoming and accommodativel. Breakfast delicious and plentiful (scones were lovely!). Has offstreet parking and conveniently located in Ennis town center
Review 119:Tea and coffee facilities on a separate floor and not in the room.
Review 120:Staff were very friendly, the room was big and comfortable and breakfast was great. Easy parking and close enough to walk to the centre. We'd stay there again.
Review 121:Not what we expected in a hotel. All locked up at 10pm. No bar open and had to ring night porter to get a drink!! And take to our room then!
Review 122:Staff were very friendly.
Review 123:Great location within walking distance to town, available parking and great staff. Tom in particular was most helpful giving us a hand drawn map with where to see in Galway after our stay! Good choice for breakfast.
Review 124:Nothing!
Review 125:The rooms are lovely and the beds are really comfy. The breakfast is delicious with plenty of choice. Tom, Lenka and the rest of the staff are all very hospitable and nothing is too much trouble. All in all this hotel provides excellent value for money and being a smaller hotel has a lovely personal feel and atmosphere.
Review 126:A little more attention to detail. For example our room was lovely but there was a bedside light on one side of the bed but not the other. Minor point which didn't affect us but might be annoying if you both liked reading in bed.
Review 127:I don't know why they advertise themselves as "boutique" which to me conjures up expensive style over substance. It is a mid priced hotel that gives good value for money. The staff in particular are a joy. Friendly and helpful. Good breakfast too. Close to the centre of Ennis. I would recommend it.
Review 128:Wifi you don't get in certain rooms, some rooms are tiny no tea facilities in the room or kettle rooms are not the cleanest we found a bra in the press. Paint chippings off the wall dirty curtains no mattress protecters stained mattress with cigarette burns list goes on....
Review 129:The staff was friendly and location was good
Review 130:it wasn't very clean. it needs a paint job badly. no tea or coffee in room. no residents bar. not worth the price. disappointing.
Review 131:staff were friendly. bed was comfortable
Review 132:The welcome and attentiveness of all the staff was outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble for each of them. Constant hot water supply in bathroom and an excellent shower which is rarely found even in much more expensive hotels, Lovely bed-linen and superb pillows contributed to three very good nights sleep.
