Reviews for Hotel Woodstock Ennis
Review 1:The hotel is in need of some maintenance, it appears run down and hastily repaired with patches of paint very apparent and carpet badly worn in places. Bathrooms feel grubby, hastily cleaned and shower heads ill fitting so more water comes out around the pipe than through the shower head itself. When I stayed there was a bad frost overnight and no effort was made to salt / grit outside, even the steps from the hotel weren't treated. It made for a very slippy walk to the car trying to carry luggage. The exit from the carpark to the main road is sloped upwards and was untreated as well so it was difficult and dangerous leaving. It's that lack of care and attention that's evident throughout the hotel.
Review 2:The reception and bar are nice and welcoming but venture beyond that point and the lack of upkeep is very plain to see.
Review 3:Loved Everything but If i was to say one thing it would be to have a wider selection for Breakfast
Review 4:Loved The Hotel spent the New Year here with my nearest and dearest. A total of 12 of us travelled up from Cork City and wern't dissappointed it was very relaxing and great value for money. Will definately be returning sooner rather than later. Keep up the great work. Well Done!!
Review 5:This hotel was closed for a couple of years and reopened in the last couple of months. Some parts of the rooms could do with a good clean and refurb. It felt a little grubby
Review 6:Staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Review 7:Omg from start to finish it was just brilliant .. Compliments to all staff excellent customer service food amazingly presented and delicious .. Decor brilliant warmth on arrival hotel so comfy . Bar beautiful and catered fort two kids perfectly ... Will definitely be back again in future Linda Offaly
Review 8:Got no response whatsoever on a matter brought to attention to member of management onfront desk after our first night stay. No room service available in what is rated as 4 star hotel.
Review 9:The hotel itself is lovely.
Review 10:No supervision of children in bar or in reception area after 9.00 pm . It was dangerous , unprofessional and we " retired" early to our room.
Review 11:Good hotel , good value for money .
Review 12:The locker rooms for the pool and the girls bathrooms were dirty. For some odd reason kids are not aloud in the jacuzzi.
Review 13:The staff was extremely friendly and nice, the rooms were beautiful, big and tastefully decorated and the big reception area with fireplace and armchairs is very nice. Food in the restaurant was awesome.
Review 14:Liked everything.
Review 15:The location is fab,and the golf course on sight, the hotel is well designed and the ramp on the way to the bar is cool, highly recommend this hotel.everything
Review 16:bar food/room service finishes to early. we had to order pizza from a local fast food as the food in hotel finished at 9.
Review 17:Very good hotel. family friendly.lovely staff. the kids loved the pool.
Review 18:We stayed in room 306, behind the wall i think there are water pipes and these made noises all day and night, like gurgling and it was like the water was filling up or there was air in the pipes, this made sleeping very difficult. On Saturday night we stayed in for dinner 9as we ate here before) but my food was very disappointing, the roast beef was over cooked and very dry and hard and this was covered in a lot of gravy (to mask it maybe) I also ordered roast patatos and they never came with the meal, so when I inquired about them a few minutes later they arrived, but they were nto roast, they were par boiled patatos thrown into a deep fat fryer to make them look like roast, and by that stage my meat which was not great had gone cold. I was really disappointed and mentioned it about the food but still paid the bill (got a free apple cake, that didn't cover it)
Review 19:we had an amazing rapport with the desk staff, Faith and Polyana, these ladies are so nice and friendly and very kind and always smiling.
Review 20:Charming Hotel, really loved the large room, comfi bed, all clean and lovely, brilliant spa! Fantastic breaky with loads of healthy options! Would always go back again!
Review 21:Bar staff preferred if we ate in restaurant even though there was only 2 tables occupied. They also kept mixing up orders with tables bringing other peoples' food to us
Review 22:Bad soundproofing, could clearly hear conversation of guests in next room and room above..Front Entrance Steps covered in cigarette butts..!
Review 23:Very Friendly Staff,Room very Clean,Comfortable Bed,Lots of Extra Tea/Coffee/Sugar which was a Nice Change to Most Hotels who Give 2Teabags..Nice Powerful Shower
Review 24:The hotel has only been open for four months and needs fine tuning eg. arrived and the twin room was not prepared
Review 25:Very good value for money the pool and leisure facility's were great, the staff were helpful and friendly. The meal we had was a little pricey but very good. We would stay again.
Review 26:Staff helpful and very pleasant. Great value for money. Down for family christening nearby. Leisur facilities a bonus grand children loved it!we will be back.ambience tasteful and confortable
Review 27:Bar staff could up the anti, had to return a dirty glass, which can happen, then asked for brandy and got a water glass filled with ice with brandy. Had to return that and ask for proper glass with no ice.
Review 28:Friendly staff, especially Faith on Reception was lovely! Nice spacious rooms with lots of bathroom space to put items on
Review 29:This hotel is in a great location, our children loved the pool, the breakfast was great and they cooked pancakes for the boys for breakfast. Great value for money.
Review 30:A little shabby - torn wallpaper in bedroom, worn carpets throughout. Bathroom toiletries not replenished.
Review 31:Very quiet hotel, good breakfast, excellent king size bed- friendly staff.
Review 32:There is no signs on any of the incoming roads, the lighting outside of the hotel is terrible in fact I tripped and fell on my way into hotel when I arrived. Such a shame a few lights and signs would make a huge difference.
Review 33:The hotel it self is beautiful once you actually find it. The darkness of the grounds is terrible
Review 34:Got up following morning to no water, had to use water from kettle go wash my face it was very disappointing and I think I should have been reinburst to be honest other that couldn't fault the hotel
Review 35:Beautiful hotel and helpful and friendly staff
Review 36:Would not recommend to a tourist as the hotel did not meet Ireland's reputation for warmth, good food and comfort by a long way. (We had experienced this in the busy well managed Castlecourt Hotel in Westport.) Suitable for business stays where price and location are important. There was a grand entrance with excellent and professional staff (Faith) and in the bar (Valerie). However, the atmosphere and temperature was cold and unwelcoming. Corridors were unheated or underheated and cold. The bar was capacious and empty. Bar food and menu were poor; hake was not fresh. Omelette was not cooked in the usual way..just a flat pancake of eggs with ham. The big problem the hotel management face is restoring normal occupancy rates after 2 year lay off for refurbishment...with only a handful of guests. The breakfast was really poor and the fresh fruit was off with odd milky stringy jelly throughout the bowl. This was replaced immediately by Valerie. Music played in the entrance lobby was harsh sounding and the manager refused a request to turn it off or down for me to read without this distraction...though there was no one else in the lobby. It was a poor sub standard experience. We decided to move on and not stay a second night as booked. CH and MH
Review 37:Excellent staff; Faith and Valerie.
Review 38:Signage for hotel is not adequate for the hotel and the new roads have not got the signs displayed either that match local directions. The Lahinch Road sign is not visible so we got lost.
Review 39:This hotel which is a testimony to good old Irish hospitality is now on my list of "must go back to". OK the hotel was beautiful, inviting and it felt welcoming. This is due a lot to the staffs" professional approach but mostly due to the sheer "nothing is too much" attitude. My one and only complaint is that the signage was awful for directions and we circled the hotel many times before the duty manager rescued us after we couldn't find the hotel in the dark. As frequent travellers we have never experienced the "best Irish hospitality" that I have had in a hotel. Arriving in the early hours staff showed such kindness beyond the call of duty and the view from the breakfast room was so peaceful & beautiful that people stood at the huge windows to gaze out and get their day off to a flying start. Food was very good, rooms lovely and spacious, newly opened pool so we can't wait to return to experience our best down time in a fast business that treats each guest like the most important people to them at that time. A huge smile, a friendly welcome & the tone is set ?, whether for business or pleasure.
Review 40:We checked in Saturday afternoon and found a very nice room. We headed into town for dinner & some local entertainment in the pubs. When we returned we had NO WATER. The staff blamed the storm, but they seemed somewhat unconcerned. We had to ask for bottled water just to get a drink & brush our teeth. In the morning, still no water & we had to ASK AGAIN for some bottled drinking water. Management dropped the ball on how to handle a "crisis" for it's customers.
Review 41:It is a very nice hotel, located just a few minutes outside of town.
Review 42:Not enough room here to list the disappointments...
Review 43:I'm afraid the answer here is 'nothing' - 1st time I have EVER said that about a place.
Review 44:not a bad experience but found the bed very hard and also the pillows hard but other than that the room was superb and spacious with all the mod cons
Review 45:Loved the hotel the food was excellent swimming pool Jacuzzi sauna etc was fab Manager very friendly and helpful also staff very attentive and helpful
Review 46:No leisure facilities as advertised in booking.com Bed too hard and uncomfortable No ironing board until day 2 even though requested in day one No fridge in room
Review 47:Peaceful room Location Cleanliness Great shower
Review 48:fantastic staff and management who couldn't have done enough for us. We wish them all the best for the future and will definitely be back to visit
Review 49:The wall pictures all over the hotel just did not match the overall modern, contemporary design of the hotel. All the pictures (that I saw) were more suited to an old castle/mansion e.g historical portraits ..A mis match of old/modern furniture which didn't seem to go together.
Review 50:The waiter in the bar was really nice (I wish I had taken note of his name - a young friendly lad) and helpful as was the young fair haired gentleman who greeted my husband and I in the morning for breakfast and guided us to our table. The bed was very comfortable.
Review 51:No bath robes in the bedrooms. Had to walk through the hotel lobby after swim with towels around us.
Review 52:Very nice staff. Lovely hotel in beautiful surroundings.
Review 53:No bad experience
Review 54:Hotel was fabulous, rooms were clean and modern. Leisure centre was excellent. Staff were the most friendliest I've seen in a long time. The bar food was very good, worth a try. Caroline the receptionist in the evening was the most helpful and couldn't do enough for you
Review 55:The whole experience was very relaxing and great value for money.
Review 56:The staff were very nice and polite. Liam in the bar was a genuinely nice guy and looked after us.
Review 57:Breakfast could have been great except was undercooked, bacon and white and black pudding in particular, and not as hot as it could have been
Review 58:I was particularly impressed with the Receptionist Faith !
Review 59:Breakfast was not the best that's all if have to say about that !
Review 60:The comfort of the hotel was very nice indeed. Staff very friendly and helpful great location only €7 to get a cab into the main square very happy with our stay here :)
Review 61:We were put in a room with a door connecting to the next bedroom & we could clearly hear the couple next to ours. Extremely annoying & disappointing. Didn't pay over €200 to listen to the neighbours. Requested a quiet room not adjoining rooms. We were also put near the double doors to lift & stairs so we could hear the doors bang open & close every time. "Restaurant manager" constantly made us wait in bar or lobby to eat even though we could see numerous vacant tables for dinner & again vacant tables for breakfast following morning, "restaurant manager" not at all organised or good at his job & was very annoying, it's like he wanted to "look busy" or give impression that restaurant was busy. Breakfast extremely unorganised, no milk at buffet table or on tables, no glasses for juices, waiters would only bring out 4 glasses at a time when they were asked for glasses for juice. Hot buffet very poorly topped up. Seemed to be sparing the food & milk! Dinner was very nice but soup was cold. Bar & restaurant menu the very same. No hairdryer in room. No information pack in room. Pictures on website misleading. Missing simple basic touches that would make a big difference. Absolutely not a 4 star hotel!!
Review 62:Receptionist extremely friendly. Staff helpful & polite at all times.
Review 63:Very badly organised breakfast the first day. The "restaurant manager" asked us to take a seat outside in the bar as there would be a 5 minute wait for a table after about a 25 minute wait we were shown to our table, as we walked into the restaurant we noticed at least 4 free tables. The hot food buffet was also very poorly topped up that day and there was a big delay in refilling buffet. However on a positive note the following morning there was no "restaurant manager" on, and a very efficient waitress showed us to our table immediately without any delay, the hot food buffet was fully stocked and very well organised! A much better breakfast experience on the second morning.
Review 64:Lovely comfortable room with nice decor. In a handy location 5 minute drive from Ennis. Very nice bar food and breakfast was very tasty on the second morning. Really nice newly refurbished leisure centre with jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and nice sized pool. All staff were very welcoming and pleasant.
Review 65:Could have a second armchair in the room. The fire in the lobby was very welcoming but its a pitty that there was a smell of smoke.
Review 66:We liked the friendliness and efficiency of the staff particularly the bar staff who were ran of their feet serving food. Ladies restroom spotless. Spacious lobby and room.
Review 67:At times the staff are under severe pressure resulting in the staff leaving important stations unattended. After breakfast we could have left without paying the 60 charge for breakfast which we notified the reception staff about and settled the bill. The restaurant area and chef could do with some improve
Review 68:All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming the decor is very nice and the hotel was kept to a high standard
Review 69:Distance from the centre of Ennis was a bit of a drawback.
Review 70:The lady on reception was sensational. She was personable, answered all our questions, had a sense of humour and was generally a delight. She's a great asset to you!
Review 71:Staff are unreal here ,extremely helpfull .the whole staffs personal appearance also was immaculate.beautiful hotel, the bed in my room was the comfiest I've ever slept in (room 208)
Review 72:Bar had no smithwicks,Carlsberg or bud on draft.breakfast:ran out of food eventually when got black pudding was raw in the middle Orange juice tasted like it was watered down, bedroom decor very worn & dated ,no music in bar at night.
Review 73:Bar staff friendly, specials running for two days however food in bar quite nice.
Review 74:We were woken twice Sunday morning by the cleaner, as she wanted to clean our room. Check out was 12. This was very annoying as it was out only lie in for the week!
Review 75:Food in bar was nice. Disappointed that there was no music in bar on Saturday night.
Review 76:Check in was a bit like FawltyTowers ! Communications breakdown.Bed sheets had not been dried/ aired properly and smelled stale/ damp.
Review 77:Lovely foyer stain glass windows open fire very nice . nice view from room. Comfortable room. Breakfast and breakfast staff very nice.
Review 78:Nothing However, the hotel was undergoing substantial renovation and so some facilities were not available. The staff were handling the disruption with great efficiency and a warm welcoming manner.
Review 79:Very helpful staff and beautiful quiet location. Food was top quality and excellent value for money
Review 80:Disappointed with the room with a view of workmen building at the hotel, toilets didn't work from 8pm till 9am but workers who stayed at the hotel couldn't fix the problem over night, didn't mind sharing the bar with them but they could have changed from their work clothes and not wear their fluorescent jackets! We left early as drilling etc outside the window started early so no possibility of a rest. No discount offered for our spoiled stay.
Review 81:Great staff
Review 82:Upon arrival at check in reception staff were not professional, courtesy & manners were non existent. The hotel is not 4star standard, rooms are basic & old damp patches can be seen on corridors. Maybe in time they can make improvements as the hotel has just reopened. Leisure centre isn't open until mid October this should be emphasised before payment with booking.com & not at the end of the confirmation email.
Review 83:Staff in restaurant and bar were very obliging & friendly!!
Review 84:the room was nice but wasn't clean enough, especially the bathroom
Review 85:the hotel is really nice, room was big and comfortable, the crew was really nice and helpful, great breakfast
Review 86:The room we were in was lovely,I asked for a nice quite room but there was a door in our room connecting to another bedroom and we could hear the other couple so didn't like that about the bedroom at all
Review 87:The breakfast was excellent and when things were running low they stocked up fast again
Review 88:We pick to stay here because of the pool, but when we booked in we were told the pool was out of order.
Review 89:The staff were friendly, breakfast was good and the room was comfy.
Review 90:On our first night we had to have dinner in the bar as the restaurant wasn't open. Staff in the bar were helpful & efficient. However reception staff were not always available in the evening. Unfortunately there were 2 intoxicated guests in the lounge area who were abusive & offensive and should have been dealt with by management.
Review 91:The hotel was comfortable and a short distance from Ennis. Our room was spacious and very quiet
Review 92:Reception room and dining room were very bright and cheerful due to the staff. The staff were so helpful and cheerful it made you relax more because nothing was a problem
Review 93:the food in the bar was abit expensive for what it was and was more a restaurant style menu then bar food. we got the special of the day which was chicken and it was ok, not great. I think because the hotel is a good bit out of the way a more varied bar and restaurant menu should be available
Review 94:staff were very friendly and helpful. rooms were gorgeous, beds were amazing. room was cleaned while we were out throughout out stay. would definitely recommend this hotel to others.
Review 95:The rooms were a little bit tired but the hotel is currently undergoing a period of renovation so this is being addressed. Unlucky that the pool was closed due to being renovated. The location is ok but you do need to drive or get a taxi in to Ennis town centre. No alarm clock in bedroom!
Review 96:Lovely welcome, large room, clean and very comfortable bed. Lots of comfortable areas to sit and chat with friends - including open fires in reception area.
Review 97:The staff were so friendly and pleasant. ....food in the bar and breakfast was excellent and our room was bright clean and the bed was massive and so comfortable.
Review 98:The only negative was my fault . . . I accidentally double booked and didn't realize it until it was too late for a refund. So I paid for a room we didn't use at all. But the room we did use was lovely. The only thing missing was a hair dryer!
Review 99:The staff was amazing. Just so helpful and friendly. The desk clerk printed out my daughter's boarding pass for her and called us a cab to the airport. The restaurant was reasonable and served delicious food.
Review 100:The staff were very accommodating. My husband became ill and they went out of their way to keep us in our room for another night. We would highly recommend the Woodstock.
Review 101:A few areas need updating but this is understandable since hotel is just reopened. However I think they should have pictures of all the room types up on booking.com so guest is not disappointed upon arriving.
Review 102:Staff were fantastic, very helpful and friendly especially in the restaurant. King room was great with lovely view over the golf course. Will definitely be back.
Review 103:The place show on your site, beautiful rooms, very nicely decorated. Plus a nice swimming pool and hot tubs etc. In reality, at least our room, was let got from a long time. Very poorly decorated. One single chair, I had to call reception to have another chair in the room so that my wife and I could seat and read. All the room pictures show two chairs. The sink in the bathroom was actually broke and not repaired.
Review 104:No much
Review 105:No music in the bar at night which was very unusual for a weekend and too far from Ennis to either walk or get a taxi there and back
Review 106:Great staff, lovely hotel
Review 107:Wasn't mad keen on the brandon of sausages...lol otherwise than that ☺
Review 108:The reception staff were friendly thoughtful and kind. The waiting staff came around frequently and the cleaning staff helped us to our room..ten out of ten. Can't wait to go again..from Nora in galway
Review 109:All waa good but rooms a but tired but hopefully new owners will chanhe this. Wudnt put me off staying in hotel comfy and clean
Review 110:Nice hotel in quiet location. Staff friendly. Lobby area and bar very nice amd food was good.
Review 111:Beautiful view from the room! Very clean and comfortable! Food was wonderful! Had the same waiter in the bar and he was very attentive! Great experience
Review 112:Just one small thing our room had an adjoining door and the sound of people talking was quite loud but by 11pm all was quiet
Review 113:Just loved our time at Woodstock hotel the front receptionist was fantastic and the food for the meal we had and breakfast was super If we lived in ireland we would come back and play golf
Review 114:Food was just ok. Same menu in bar as in Restaurant on Friday night. Restaurant had no atmosphere, very large space with no background music, tables had no tablecloths, had only paper napkins, no candles, no flowers. Never offered water or any bread. received starter before our drinks were served. However, this hotel has fantastic potential, and given the proper training and advice it will be wonderful.
Review 115:Very friendly staff, relaxing stay. A manager checked us in and we received a very warm and friendly welcome , also Paul in the bar was fantastic, even though he was extremely busy, he was very professional and always had a smile and looked after all guests very well.
Review 116:Food,crab claws were tiny and made me ill, soup tasted more of thickening agent than vegetables no sandwhichs after five o clock strict policy. Long delay with check in and no explanation on breakfast times etc. Rooms are tired scuffs all over skirting boards, stains on the carpet no where to hang hand towel in bathroom only marks left on tiles. Too far out from ennis 20 euro return in and out of ennis.
Review 117:Most of the staff were very friendly and accommodating
Review 118:The staff were not very helpful. The Wifi was terrible. They didn't have a restaurant and only serve bar food which is not very good. We asked for a family room and my daughter was given a pull out cot that was very uncomfortable and she did not get much sleep because of it.
Review 119:The location was good for sightseeing
Review 120:Good sized room. Very clean and comfortable. No adjoining door. Quiet. Very friendly personnel, including bar staff. Very good breakfast with plenty of choices. New menu introduced during our stay with something for everyone at reasonable prices. Desserts now cheaper at 5.95. Rhubarb and strawberry crumble is amazing. Plenty of space and various rooms to sit and read outside own room
Review 121:lack of outside space no bin in bathroom cheap loo paper shampoo r shower gel wewent replaced we had W
Review 122:friendly staff comfortable clean bedroom good selection at breakfast lovely foyer
Review 123:Pool not open at the moment disappointing as photos looked lovely and one of the main reasons we picked this hotel also photos of rooms looked super and not the room we got even though we booked a superior room ,it was very basic .ie no armchair or standard lamp.water tank directly above our room made a terrible racket with water going in and out of it at night .
Review 124:Good breakfast .
Review 125:Room did NOT seem recently renovated as some have indicated, but was adequate. Mattresses VERY comfortable, but pillows were poor. Fitness room and swimming pools still false advertising at this point in time.
Review 126:Breakfast was the real deal and did not disappoint. Great proximity to Shannon Airport, Ennis and all things County Clare. Good value for money. Will be an incredible value after the Fitness Room and Pools are completed (if price remains unchanged.) We had no issues with "adjoining rooms" and thin walls as some have indicated.
Review 127:Bar food was a expensive. And the rooms were a little chilli
Review 128:Breakfast was excellent. The hotel was close to Town a taxi only cost €10 and very comfortable.
Review 129:Misleading information on your site (bookings.com) - no leisure facilities eg: pool, sauna etc. not yet finished since hotel reopened only short time ago - we probably wouldn't have chosen this hotel if we had known. Also bar area very unattractive / poorly designed / pokey etc.
Review 130:Cleanliness of facilities; friendliness of staff
Review 131:Pool is closed until end of October disappointed with this as I usually swim to help my back problem.
Review 132:Lovely staff very friendly. Great time at this hotel would definitely go back again.
Review 133:Food wasn't great in the restaurant
Review 134:I loved the staff. They were very friendly and the rooms were a nice size. The bathrooms were very clean and it was lovely in general
Review 135:Need some work on the evening menus. Could do with a bit more variety.
Review 136:This is a very good hotel at the moment with the potential to be a great one. The staff are great and the location is perfect for touring the area. Breakfast is a fantastic buffet and when the leisure facilities open they will be a real attraction.
Review 137:I booked 5 rooms using this website. When we arrived we were told thatno rooms were booked. I showed them the email and gave the bookingnumber. The gaul of the staff!
