Reviews for The George Hotel

Review 1:rooms probably could have been a little cleaner, but its all cost relevant.

Review 2:Bar is great. Food is excellent and all the staff are very friendly. Accommodation is cheap and cheerful which is fine because they don't make it out to be anything but that. This is a great place to stay if your travelling for work and would like to have a few refreshing beverages at dinner.

Review 3:No bread at breakfast on our first morning. The gap in the window sill to accommodate the air-con (2nd hand smoke from smokers on the street was strong). Also, smell coming from either air-con or fridge.

Review 4:Location, friendly staff, cost, atmosphere, value for money

Review 5:The parking is not really "onsite" but is street parking. However, there are plenty of spots available. Also, I had to drag my luggage up quite a few stairs to get to the rooms. Just something to keep in mind.

Review 6:My room was quiet. I liked the spacious bathroom and large vanity. The Wifi was a reasonably good speed. The food was great downstairs and it was convenient to be located right near the CBD.

Review 7:Bed was really springy. Had been renovated downstairs but rooms untouched. No propper way to get fresh air into the room. Shower curtain was mouldy.

Review 8:Friendly staff and convenient location. Had a bath!

Review 9:It's an old hotel with a lot of work needed to bring it up to modern standards. No on-site parking and a long haul up to the room.

Review 10:The central location.

Review 11:Booked a 4-bed room for 2 nights (Fri & Sat). Got a hostile/aggressive voicemail from management on Saturday to tell me my booking was for 1 night and that I needed to clear the room or they would clear it for me. Rushed back to find the room untouched, but could've done without the unprofessional handling of their own clerical error.

Review 12:The pub downstairs.

Review 13:Well...the remnants of the vomit that remained on the stairs going up to the rooms was a bit nauseating - my husband could smell the stench, though I hadn't, fortunately. The hallways were a bit dreary and needs an obvious over-haul. The bath tub was either dirty or badly stained - either way, needs a drastic improvement. TV screen needs to be a bit larger, or the resolution. Cockroach was seen crawling on the bed at one point, but then again, this country is teaming with the buggers. The breakfast room looked like something out of Orange is the New Black (a penitentiary cafeteria); the Do-It-Yourself brekky would have been okay, though the lay-out was poor, and items were running low. Having separate bottles of juice and a canteen of real coffee might have been a better way to go, maybe a basket of croissants or muffins rather than the toast; a neat representation of items on a table with a table cloth would have been a nice touch and a host present ready to help with anything. Over-all: 2-1/2 stars.

Review 14:The staff had been very polite and accommodating - they get a 5-star rating apart from all else. The room rate was cut $15 cheaper upon arrival - yay! The air conditioner was a big plus. Bed was large and comfortable, lots of pillows. Room looked clean. Close to shops and eateries.

Review 15:Only on street parking near centre of town difficult to get park close by . Also confusing with name change is now George Hotel.

Review 16:Location was good . Good value for money with continental breakfast included in price of room.

Review 17:Freshly renovated hotel. Now called The George. Large comfortable ensuite room. Good value bar meals. Various areas to relax. Helpful manager to secure our motorcycles.

Review 18:No Flyscreens, bathroom door couldn't be closed properly, noisy floorboards, hall not lit up when needed - having to find room number in the dark, then hall light on in middle of the night lighting up room?

Review 19:Location, complementary breakfast available, great potential when fully renovated.

Review 20:There was no indication in the advertisememt that this hotel is under major renovations and as such there is restricted access to the second level for room access. Concerned that there was no light in the passage or stairway making access after dark risky with luggage. Was informed that tradespeople would be on site early morning for renovations

Review 21:The room was large and included a bath, couch and large flat screen TV. Breakfast was a nice inclusion.

Review 22:Love our stay and so did the kids even with the renos going we extended our stay by an extra night because we didn't want to leave Defo staying again and will be back to see the fresh new look

Review 23:It was terrible that at 7am in the morning renovations going on in the hotel started. jackhammers woke us up at this time. It would have been OK if they told us when we booked but nobody mentioned they were doing renovations. Even when we booked in there was no mention of this.ave never given a poor score before and I don't do this lightly. Very disappointed with the managment of the Park Hotel. They could have done a lot better.

Review 24:The location was excellent, close to all the facilities you could ask for.

Review 25:Basic but functional. Fire alarm and emergency lighting went off several times during the night. Main lights in room didn't work.

Review 26:Clean, great location. Bar currently closed for redevelopment so nice a quiet.

Review 27:The bed was very uncomfortable and the floors creaked everywhere upstairs...the corridors and the room...

Review 28:I liked the shower, the TV and the space...but only because I had the room to myself

Review 29:This establishment is obviously under restoration. I think that $80 for what we had was far too much. Perhaps when its up and running it will be better, but until then- keep away!!!

Review 30:value for money no paid $95 worth maybe $50 even $50 is too much for backpacker

Review 31:not much bed to small no water in the urn maybe different after renovations you can only hope

Review 32:Shouldn't be available whilst being renovated, no heating - very cold, power points didn't work.

Review 33:Friendly staff did everything to accommodate heating difficulties, free breakfast.

Review 34:Having to check out and go home!!

Review 35:The owners (im assuming) are always extremely friendly and ready to check me in promptly. Ive become a fairly regular guest at the Park Hotel this year and last weekend they really made my stay by giving me a free room upgrade...!!! It was the best feeling after a long week walking into a room that didnt feel just like a hotel but more like home. Lovely and relaxing atmosphere, during the day and in the evening. The room was absolutely spectacular! Big spacious room with a huge couch, bigger TV, queen sized bed, a shower including a bathtub and a view overlooking the small private courtyard - i didnt even know they had! Five and a half stars out of five!!! The room even stayed warm all night and didnt let in any of the Bathurst frost! Just another added bonus! The rooms are always very large with very nice bathrooms and big mirrors! (For the ladies out there). Very much looking forward to staying there again this weekend :) Certainly one of the best hotels in Bathursts for location, cost and facilities/rooms. Plus the complimentary breakfast room has been open both mornings, since my last review! Wouldnt stay anywhere else in Bahtursts!

Review 36:I was one of the worst hotels I ever stayed, r room was facing the Old run down backyard, there was no heater in the room and request we got radiator heater, No 1 gave us wifi password, I went downstairs few times but no one was there to help us, we come to Bathurst often but this would be the first and the last time I spent at your hotel, you should not charge more than 40 50 dollars a night

Review 37:The room it self was not bad

Review 38:Bit noisy from hallway if lots of people staying. Light from hallway shone through above door Most of the night.

Review 39:Fantastic value, staff and location. Bed was sooo comfy.

Review 40:Twice now over my weekend stay the past month, the breakfast room door has been locked, right up til 7-8am... Really unfortunate as I leave early both mornings and its such a lovely part of staying at the Park Hotel. Not too sure if it's because of something that goes on saturday night/sunday morning but its always the same day :| and not every time!

Review 41:The hotel bar closed early, almost as soon as we arrived. In the wee hours of the morning the lights in the hotel corridor came on shone into our room through the glass panels above the entrance door.

Review 42:Security entrance door into the hotel lobby (needs a key, which is supplied to guests, to gain access .. I felt very safe)

Review 43:The woman serving breakfast and cleaning the rooms. She was friendly, welcoming and helpful. Didnt get her name but looked forward to seei g her in the mornings. Also liked the location. Very quiet pkace too.

Review 44:The street light shone straight into our room in room 5, as we live on a farm we are used to the dark, some blockout curtains would be ideal.

Review 45:Good basic clean, has all necessities

Review 46:Booking online was somewhat confusing. Extra rooms needed closer to stay date (due to group numbers increasing) went from $95 a double to $150???

Review 47:Staff were helpful on arrival, rooms were basic but clean with a very comfy bed. Good location and quiet. Breakfast included in price was a bonus.

Review 48:Acting manager did not know we were booked in. Had to change room because bed not made up. Second room damaged vanity unit. Cochroaches in room.

Review 49:Pass

Review 50:after being changed to room 8 which was onthe main corner of the hotel on a roundabout we found that the air conditioning needed to be fed through the window which let all the road noise in.then all night we could hear noises up and down the hallway which was very creaky. to our dismay we not only had to contend with the road noise but also there was no glass panel in the top of the door leading to our room. ie no security/privacy and heaps more noise... never will we stay there again and feel like reporting it to the appropriate department. such a shame as the boutique hotel idea would be a good one if it was done properly,.

Review 51:The place is extremely rundown. It smelled of stale beer and cigarettes. No amenities given. Room was dirty.Very disappointed with the standard of park hotel.

Review 52:The beautiful park across the road is the only attraction.

Review 53:The location was easy to find and the staff were very helpful and pleasant. The price was within our budget . Would consider staying here again when travelling to Orange

Review 54:Old messy furniture, broken window glass, narrow room space, dark corridor, no WiFi at all, uncomfortable beds.

Review 55:A simple free breakfast was provided but not mentioned online

Review 56:Everything is too old. Door window glass broken, dark corridor with messy furniture, very soft and uncomfortable beds, very small space for three people, no Internet access.

Review 57:A simple free breakfast is provided but not mentioned when booking or on Internet.

Review 65:It was quieter than I imagined it would be and the staff were very friendly,

Review 66:Advertised as having wardrobe in room - there was no wardrobe.

Review 68:The name is now the George Hotel with no on-street parking - Booking.com needs to update its website

Review 89:Room a little cramped

Review 90:Good continental breakfast in dining room. Location very convenient to restaurants and other facilities

Review 99:No onsite parking.

Review 100:Room was very clean and comfortable.

Review 101:The room, the old faded brown doona cover with stains all over it

Review 102:The staff, the location, the ensuite

Review 103:The bed was a bit small and soft, the air conditioner noisy.

Review 104:The beautiful park across the road. The large roomy bathroom.
