Reviews for Sive Hostel

Review 1:Room was very clean and cosy. The host let us have breakfast after breakfast hours were over and was relaxed about checkout time. She also gave us some advice about the surrounding areas.

Review 2:During the day no heat in sitting room.

Review 3:Great location. On the high street opposite supermarket, bus st, pubs, cafe..well run decor pretty. Intimate and friendly.

Review 4:Beds were a little creaky and if I can imagine it gets cramped when it's fully booked.

Review 5:Friendly hostel - staff were lovely and chatty and there was a really nice atmosphere which helped the other guests to get talking. Felt lovely and homely and great location as a stop on the ring of Kerry.

Review 6:Everything. It was like a second home. I discussed sport, music, politics, the rain and all things local, not to mention the secret of pouring Guinness from a can. It was such a good place that weary guests soon became replenished and talkative.

Review 7:Sometimes the wifi could be "touch and go" but it wasn't a big problem.

Review 8:The people who run this place are so lovely and accommodating and all with a good sense of humour. The rooms were lovely and very well priced and the light breakfast, which is complementary, was a nice touch.

Review 9:Very informal and very, very friendly. A great mix between a hotel and self catering. We had a private room with an ensuite. We are definitely going again!

Review 10:No complaints here!

Review 11:Great people and great place! Location is right in the middle of the Ring of Kerry so the drive there is beautiful no matter where you're coming from. Very peaceful outside seating for tea, beautiful flowers. Plenty of kitchen utensils that made preparing meals easy.

Review 12:One if te two showers only provided very very got water without any chance to adjust the temperature.

Review 13:Very clean place. Well-equipped kitchen. Good breakfast provided.

Review 14:There's nothing I was unhappy about.

Review 15:The location was great. On the Ring of Kerry. It was also right in the village so I could walk to a resturant every night & have a drink without having to worry about driving back to the hostel. The village was close to other places of interest. The food left out for you to make you own breakfast was excellant. Good food and saved some money. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

Review 16:i loved the friendly and homely atmosphere in this hostel.Mary the hostess was most kind and helpful she was just like a Mother to us all, we would definately return to the Sive hostel!!!!

Review 17:Very enjoyable stay on trip around Ring of Kerry. There was a continental breakfast included in the price which was a nice surprise. Wifi worked a treat and the lounge was perfect for meeting some of the other guests. Really nice place which is well looked after

Review 18:There was no wi-fi in the stone cottage, but a good connection was in the welcoming common areas.

Review 19:The single ensuite room was in a separate stone cottage out on the backyard. Loved it. It is small but the more authentic. Mary, the hostess was very friendly and helpful. I wish I'd stayed for more than 1 night

Review 20:No Wifi in the bottom rooms but thats really not a big issue.

Review 21:The truth is everything is what you expect from a good quality hostel but what really makes Sive Hostel the special place that it is, is Mary. She is the friendlies person we met on our whole Ireland trip. We'll definitely be back.

Review 22:Breakfast included, but you had to do it yourself. Room ok for one night, but there was no wardrobe or place to leave clothes.

Review 23:Nice hostel, pretty well located in the middle of Ring of Kerry. You can leave the car right in front of the door. Room was really small (big comfy bed, though), but enough for one night. Very clean and quiet.

Review 24:Sometime gets quite crowded in the evening as not much indoor space

Review 25:Great staff, very comfortable beds, good price, nice kitchen, just opposite supermarket and pizza place, and fantastic outdoors area

Review 26:Busy weekend in Cahirsiveen and we had booked 2 double rooms so we could all be together, someone made a mess of the booking and 2 of our party had to stay in a b&b further out the road, a bit disappointing but it all worked out ok, the staff where very helpful in sorting it out

Review 27:The Sive was close to the town centre and the staff where nice, the double rooms are small but for a hostel the standard was good, it is very friendly and with good weather it was nice to sit in the courtyard and talk to people from different places, would use again.

Review 28:The best hostel I have ever stayed in. Really nice room, small with a small bathroom and a large bed. Fine kitchen where you can cook and eat and nice place outside between the kitchen and rooms where you can sit or dry your wet clothes. Cahersiveen is also interesting, with a cathedral in the centre and ruined castle and two dunes (forts) nearby.

Review 29:Mattresses could be changed as they are not very comfortable. Kitchen is small and all types of bins and not in the same place so you can easily miss where the compost bin is. Make sure you don't throw away things in the wrong bin, I got a big reprimand from one of the owners just for throwing a mandarin's skin into the wrong bin. He was so rude to me I felt like crying. If all bins were well visible to customers they will avoid people getting confused! I will be scared to come back to this place.

Review 30:It was the cheapest option in town. Easy to find.

Review 31:Improve bin signs to make it easier to read.

Review 32:I like places that feel clean from the moment of check in, and this Hostel for me was like that. Very cool place to stay for more than one night. Clean kitchen and with all you need to cook. Is a small town so everything is within walking distance. Cool places to visit around. Dorms and privates rooms very clean and comfy. Would come back for sure.

Review 33:The hostel has a strange smell, maybe because kitchen was at entry. Bed doesn't seems Very clean :s

Review 41:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Great location as we were travelling around the ring of Kerry. A few good pubs near by.

Review 42:Not much space in the bedroom and bathroom, wifi not in all rooms.

Review 43:Nice owners and good price for one night!

Review 44:Loved the room and the location was great. Very friendly owners will Def be back

Review 73:Nice and clean, very friendly staff, great value for money.

Review 74:Very pleasent stay, great rooms, great breakfast, perfect stay!

Review 75:The breakfast was very poor, no coffee, no butter. The main door of our apartment couldn't lock.

Review 76:Really friendly, relaxed and welcoming. My (single) room was small but had everything you could expect. Very clean. There was a lounge with a TV and books for guests to use. Also, there was unrestricted use of the kitchen - including tea/coffee - 24/7. The breakfast (bread and butter + jam to make toast) was basic but efficient. There was not even any washing up to do: guests were encouraged to put their used plates etc straight in to the dishwasher!! I was even able to park my motorbike securely in the little back yard of the property. The village is a very thriving and colourful place - the property is on the main street. Also, there is plenty to see and do in the area. Staying here was one of the highlights of my trip to Ireland!!

Review 77:the bed is too soft. Sometimes the wifi cannot work properly

Review 78:price is great for a single bedroom and its central location. Close to gas station, supermarket, and pubs.

Review 79:I have nothing much to complain about, really. It's after all a hostel.

Review 80:Sive hostel can be easily found along the main road. The host, Barney, was extremely friendly and helpful. I booked a single room, and although it was small, it was lovely and cosy. The bed was comfy.

Review 81:Located in the city center. The hostess was very nice. Spacious modern kitchen with all the necessary things for cooking (there is even a dishwasher). The rooms are clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.

Review 82:It was very quiet. This can be really nice but if you stay a few nights you probably miss also the hustle and bustle of a city. I did...

Review 83:The woman who worked there was super friendly. There was a good atmosphere, the rooms were okay and you could park in front. For free.

Review 84:My room was very nice but noisy with people walking around upstairs, I will definitely go back there but next time will request a different room.

Review 85:Very relaxed place, nice staff, great location, easy free parking.

Review 86:Located very close to all beautiful beaches of Kerry. Friendly and helpful staff, cozy living-room with a fire place. Spacious canteen and kitchen with all necessities to cook. Private room with an en-suit shower.

Review 87:I liked the room we had, it was out in a separate house and was very private and comfortable. The location in particular was excellent as it was close to all the local restaurants and pubs (bar one or two on the far side of town) and the proximity to valentia island was fantastic! very enjoyable all round trip at a very nice price.

Review 88:Location. Owners were really lovely, it was so clean.
