Reviews for Agriturismo La Casa Di Melo
Review 1:Lovely agriturismo in a beautiful setting with hills behind and orchards all around. Amazing infinity pool. Near by to a little town and only short trip into Siracusa. Helpful staff and tasty breakfast. Great stay.
Review 2:We had to either eat at the hotel or drive somewhere. We couldn't walk to a restaurant but not a big problem. You have to like dogs which we did.
Review 3:The lovely old house, the cosy places to sit, the fresh fruit juice at breakfast, the good-sized, palm tree fringed pool, the orange and lemon trees, the small number of other guests, our big bedroom, the peace.
Review 4:Our stay was way too short!
Review 5:Outstanding setting in the middle opf orchards - orange, lemons. Very peaceful. Wanderful areas to sit and enjoy the views. Swimming pool in the middle of the fields - simply out of this world. Breakfast is composed of organic food, made at the agroturismo.
Review 6:The initial plan was to spend two nights at Casa di Melo but given we felt so good there we extended our stay and we literally didn't want to leave even after that. The ambiance and warmth of the place bring you immediate relaxation. The rooms are designed with warmth and comfort. The food is home made, simple and divine. Yet what has mostly struck me is the family feeling and goodness of the people managing the place. They literally go totally out of their way to help you. In a world which lacks care and things done with heart, their attitude has struck me most of all. They are the ones reaching out to you, even if in situations which go beyond their reach. When things are done with heart they shower you like blessings. This is just the way it felt while we were there.
Review 7:Bring insect repellent!
Review 8:Very friendly staff! Very tasty dinners.
Review 9:Lovely place & helpful staff as well as excellent food
Review 10:Location, scenery and property were excellent
Review 11:It was a very quiet, peaceful and beautiful place to stay and very easy to drive to Siracuse, Noto and all the coastal villages. The Sicilian breakfasts were divine, freshly prepared using organic ingredients from the nearby farm. Our family also loved the pool and the dogs!
Review 12:No hairdrier in room
Review 13:Wonderful location in the countryside just outside Syracuse, surrounded by orange trees. Super breakfast all homemade. The staff were very friendly band helpful
Review 14:There is nothing not to like at La Casa di Melo.
Review 15:I liked everything at La casa di Melo. The property is rustic, relaxing and surrounded by lemons and oranges among other produce. It is well situated and convenient in that you can travel to many local areas from the farm and still return in time for a great dinner. The facility is spacious with several large common areas both indoor and outdoors. The hotel is well decorated with the feel of a farm house. There is a large pool. The room I stayed in was large with additional room attached with a huge terrace. The bathroom facilities were clean and more than adequate. Shower was spacious and bathroom large. The staff were great at all times. Their new chef Harry ( real name Sebastiano) will deliver natural and organic Sicilian dishes that will excite your taste buds. His presentations are creative and appealing. Breakfast was equally an enjoyable experience. The owners are personable, pleasant and always willing to extend responsible service. Lorenzo runs the Hotel along with his most interesting dogs. I became fond of Niño Niño. Chiara his wife runs the very large farm complex. Both are bright, motivated and excited to deliver the best organic experience one could imagine. I spent 7 days out of one month at the farm. The farm by far was a highlight to my overall trip.
Review 16:Nothing but given the location, a car is needed to move around.
Review 17:Relaxing environment, friendliness of staff, family friendly, quality of products, ecologically conscious
Review 18:What should have been a relaxing and enjoyable stay in this attractive villa was spoiled by the intransigent attitude of the owners on various issues. Refrigerators advertised on their website as being provided in rooms did not work, the owners refusing to allow them to be used, stating on one occasion that they were for ‘room temperature storage’. The one communal fridge was strangely filled to capacity by the owners. With young children this proved a major inconvenience. With up to 14 adults and 10 children staying the absence of any poolside umbrellas meant the only shade was under the nearby tree. There being only six sun loungers for this number of people also discouraged most guests from lengthy periods by the pool. The five ‘friendly’ dogs mentioned on the website turned out to be dirty farm dogs that could turn into a snarling pack on the point of attacking any guest that happened to be walking in the general direction of the matriarchal owner who was generally present throughout the day. This happened to a Frenchman on our first day and subsequently to our son who was actually bitten on the thigh. There is not enough space here to detail the dozen or so other gripes we had. We were more affected by these issues in staying for 10 days where the usual length of stay for guests was 2 days. The owners must have their reasons for the way they run things so may not improve things in the future. Our advice: check very carefully before booking your stay.
Review 19:The breakfast and the lovely Sophia made breakfast really fun. The evening meals were good albeit a little expensive as you had to buy wine.
Review 20:Fridge didn't work in our room.
Review 21:Lovely accomodation, fantastic swimming pool and great food (at breakfast and dinnertime). Lots of dogs and kittens which our children enjoyed playing with. Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend for a family holiday.
Review 22:Everything, the whole experience. The food and the pool were excellent. The decoration and personal touches within the hotel were just right. A lovely place to stay and just 20 mins by car to Noto and Siracusa,
Review 23:As it says in some other reviews - our shower was also ridiculouslysmall. And if you come later for breakfast - you might not get totry all the lovely delights offered. Wifi only works near theReception area.
Review 24:Very very nice place to stay! Loved the surroundings, very nice pool, clean and spaciuos room. Had a very nice dinner. Staff helpfull andfriendly. Thank you!
Review 25:The directions on your site! They bore no relation to the reality, whichwas much more straightforward: drive through cassibile, when you see theAgip petrol station take the next left (about 500 metres further on.Follow this road for about 1 km. Casa de Melo gate is on the right.
Review 26:Our lovely room with its mosquito net. The orange and lemon groves inwhich the house is set.
Review 27:A little isolated and you would have to drive to find anywhere else for an evening meal or drink.
Review 28:Great breakfasts using produce from the farm and excellent cakes and pastries made fresh everyday. The lady looking after the breakfast service was very friendly, efficient and constantly smiling. We ate both evenings in the dining room and had 4 course fixed menu for 25 euros. The food was tradional and freshly cooked, again using local produce and was very tasty. The pool area was clean and set in pleasant gardens with ample seating. Just the place to stay and relax or to visit one of the many sights within easy driving distances.
Review 29:When the restaurant is closed you will get only a pizza in the next village Cassibile. Therefore take your dinner in Siracusa. Sorry, but the showercabin and the bathroom is very small.
Review 30:Nice apartments with views in the countryside. Quiet. Very pleasant young owners and staff.
Review 31:musquitos, couldn't open the windows because of that. Wifi only near the reception
Review 32:environment was great, so was the accomodation. Nice and quiet.
Review 33:A perfect holiday in a beautiful quiet unspoilt location.
Review 34:We had an excellent week at Casa di Melo, the room was lovely, staffwere all very charming friendly and helpful. They offered a wonderful 4course Sicilian meal in the evening, made with locally sourced organicingredients. We ate there every evening and were delighted with eachmeal. It was a perfect location from which to explore the south east ofSicily, we particularly enjoyed Noto, Ragusa Ibla and Siracuse. Thesmell of orange blossom as we arrived home each evening was fantastic.Chiara, our host recommended we spend our last day in Taormina beforegoing to the airport, parking at the bottom and getting the cable carto the top. The fantastic views made this the perfect end to a greatweeks holiday.
Review 35:Soap in the bathroom would have been nice but as we brought our own it wasn't a problem for us.
Review 36:Very nice setting with lots of flowers between the lemon trees. Perfect breakfast and very kind staff. And we all loved the gentle dogs!
