Reviews for Villa Markos
Review 1:Makos and his family were great hosts. The accommodation was uniquelying traditional Greek of which we have become accustomed to on other Greek Islands that we have visited. The room was clean and adequate for our needs. If u want value for money and great Greek hospitality Villa Markos is the place to stay. Mummas food is excellent serving traditional greek cuisine cooked fresh daily by Georgia, Markos wife. Excellent location for the beach, restaurants and the bus if you want to go travelling around the island. We would definately stay here again. Vikki U.K.
Review 2:The price, some places like IA area.Fira is better.
Review 3:The people specially Markos and his family are very nice and friendly always helpful. The location is fantastic and have every facility including the bus service. The beach is only 100m .All the shops and Taverna within reach. Excellent.
Review 4:The location is near a bus station. But the problem is that there are not so many buses to Fira, so sometimes you have to wait for a long time for the bus..
Review 5:Markos is very nice and helpful. The price is reasonable and although it is not big, but Markos arranged everything well.
Review 6:We loved our stay at Villa Markos. Everything was great, location couldn't be better. It's in a walking distance to the beach, little shops, grocery store and bus stop. They also have their little dining area by the pool where we enjoyed breakfast. The studio was very well kept and clean. Markos recommended we try a restaurant on the beach called Poseidon, and it was great. He also drove us to the port and that was so helpful!! My parents and I enjoyed our stay and will definitely recommend this place to our family and friends.
Review 7:The location is off the main highway and it's a bit dark walking towards it at night.
Review 8:Markos was really approachable and accommodating - he even allowed for my early check-in after seeing how tired I was. The room is clean, decent, and has a very useful kitchenette, perfect for those travelling on a budget and would like to cook instead of eat out every meal.
Review 9:The room and facilities are not high quality but the opposite. Taking a shower means inundate the full bathroom. Acoustic isolation is not among the features of the room and if you have party neighbors it can get difficult to sleep. Internet does not work, period.
Review 10:The place is well located. Markos is a good host and he care about his guests, even when he cannot provide all the solutions.
Review 11:Fantastic little pension! The service was just perfect, the pool nice and the food in the taverna great! Cheap and with the kindest staff. I will recommend Markos Place to everyone!
Review 12:Wifi was poor. Very little facilities in terms of self catering. Maid cleared a bottle of champagne that was s gift so that was upsetting.
Review 13:Location in relation to the beach/bars/restaurants was fair. 5 minute walk to the prom.
Review 14:the room was extremely basic, no shower curtain (it really makes a difference!), hard towels, the room was not-so-charming as the pictures, tiny kitchen. poor wifi in the room. overall we felt dissapointed with the room.
Review 15:close to perissa beach, nice pool and soft evening music, we loved our balcony with the grapes and vines. we did not eat in mama's resturaunt, but it looked and smelled delicious. we came with our three year old who loved the split level apartment, as she got her own "room" but could still see us. just beware that the steps leading up, as they are extremely steep. good ac.
Review 16:The place has an excellent location, very close to the beach, restaurants and bars, yet on a quiet street and it's very clean. The staff is really friendly. Markos is an excellent driver, which we got to experience on our ride to the airport:)
Review 17:Everything was great for the price.
Review 18:Staying at Villa Markos was extremely relaxed but also a very professionally run business. I liked that it was run by a family, I liked that Markos and his family take pride in giving their customers the best service possible. The pool was perfect and always clean, nothing was ever too much bother to Markos or his team and the cleaning lady did a wonderful job. I also like that we were never hassled to spend any extra money; for example we took full advantage of the self catering facilities and did our own breakfasts, lunches and some evening meals ourselves so in fact we never actually ate at Mama's Food (Villa Markos' own restaurant) but we were never hassled or made to feel embarrassed for not spending more which was much appreciated.
Review 19:İt does not deserve the current points. Location is very good for the beaches but very far away from the main sightseeing places. Beda were very uncomfartable. But the worst thing was the bathrooms... Bathriom was very old fashioned and dirty. Even they were doing regular cleaning, you could not realize it due to old bathrooms. Towels were very old as well. İ do not recommend this hotel to any of you if you are not looking minimum comfort...
Review 20:İ do not like anything except the hospitally of the staff...
Review 21:The facilities are quite shabby and need renovation. especially bathroom and shower. Also sound protection from the street, quality of air-con etc. A do not like paying in cash and here you have to pay in cash as hotel doesn't accept the cards. This is all something one could live with, but the wifi was extremely bad quality so I think that routers were either old or badly maintained as in other places in town you could find good quality wifi. I was working while staying and bad quality of the wifi was a big disappointment to me.
Review 22:Location in the centre of Perissa is quite good. Overall we had a good stay with no problems
Review 23:The staff. Always smiling and helpful and even though we were 16 people in a group Marcos still managed to arrange transport for us to a trip to Akrotiri and to the ferry on our last day!
Review 24:The only complaint I have is about the unstable wi-fi. However, when you are in Santorini, the last thing you need is to have access to the internet.
Review 25:Markos runs the place with the help of his family and they are all very kind with the guests. If you schedule with Markos, he will pick you up at the port/airport in the day of your arrival e take you to the port/airport in the day of your departure.
Review 26:Wifi was poor.It was in and out but we found that was the case everywhere on island .Would not let this put you off staying here.
Review 27:Helpful staff, location perfect for beach, supermarket, bars& restaurants, pool, nice food.
Review 28:WiFi was not stable, sometime it's loud outside if your windows look to restaurant, coffee for the breakfast wasnt really nice so we asked Greek coffee instead which was really delicious
Review 29:Simple but clean, very close to the beach, very close to the beach, really great restaurant "Mama's food", very friendly owners and staff. Markos brought us to the port at 6 am for free - this was really great, as otherwise at that time we would have to take a taxi, which is quite expensive on the island. It was certainly one of the best our vacations, most probably would stay at Markos again when coming to Santorini next time.
Review 30:It's obviously far from Fira and Oia, but if you're looking for budget then this is the place
Review 31:The location is perfect for those on a budget, close to the Beach and in a cheaper area than the main town Fira. Nice rooms with kitchenette.
Review 32:The mattress was a bit hard but definitely wasn't the worst I've slept on - didn't stop me sleeping at all
Review 33:The location was perfect - a short walk to Perissa beach and nice and quiet. The hotel staff were lovely and helpful. Easy to get the bus or an ATV up to Fira or Oia for the sunsets and great restaurants
Review 34:We only stayed here one night, but everything from the location to the staff were amazing. Highly recommend to those looking for an inexpensive oasis. Staff was nothing less than amazing and Mama's restaurant was fantastic. Wish i had spent all my nights on santorini here.
Review 35:the wifi was unstable upstairs where all room were located. however when u walked downstairs where the restaurant and reception were, you could access wifi.
Review 36:nice location to the beach in Perissa. the owner was very nice and took us to airport bcos we stayed for a minimum of 4 nights which was a special offer. however there is no direct bus from airport to Perissa.
Review 37:There was no wifi in the rooms, but you could use it in the restaurant or by the pool with no issues.
Review 38:It was great to jump into the pool before breakfast! Markos has kindly organised airport transfers to us which was very appreciated. Food at Mama's house was nice and affordable.
Review 39:- the electric oven is only to cook some light meal - wifi was good for email check but not for watching movies(although sometimes we could see them fluently)
Review 40:- Mr Markos was very kind and friendly, we felt like home - great service provided and he transported us to airport at an early hour in the morning - the room cleaning was to appreciate, sometimes we left dirty dishes and we were pleasantly surprised to be clean when returning - lovely place surrounded by mountains and close to sea - really good value for money
Review 41:wifi wasn't the best. Sun bathing space was small but you can walk to the beach instead.
Review 42:Easy walk to the beach and bars. Bus at the end of the road to thira. Rooms were cleaned daily. Mamas restaurant was very handy for breakfast.
Review 43:Stove did not work and there is no electrical outlet in the kitchen. If you want to use the electric water heater, you have to put it on the bed. Did work though and we did not really want to cook anyway.
Review 44:Owner is very friendly and reliable, will take you to the airport if Taxi does not show up. He is very knowledgable about the island, the swimmingpool was good for the children and he did not mind if they were noisy. He will go out of his way to make the stay a pleasant one.
Review 45:No proper knife and cutting board in the kitchenette.. There was no remote control for the air-cond in of our rooms but it didn't matter as it was quite cold in the night..
Review 46:Close to the beach.. Like 7-10 minutes' walk.. Mr. Markos is very friendly and drove us to the airport for 20€.. The Mama's Food is very good and comparatively cheaper than the cafes in Fira town.. And in big portion too... In 5 minutes walk there's a small supermarket nearby.. Further down there's a BIG Supermarket and a fantastic bakery..
Review 47:No good wifi signal in room. View from private balcony to ugly weed lot.
Review 48:Common patio overlooking pool with good wifi signal. Friendly staff. Good prices on food at Mama's. Quiet street, easy walk to beach street.
Review 49:Marcos and family very friendly and helpful All facilities good and near to sea front, restaurant served good food at very reasonable price This was our first time in Santorini ,would definitely go back to Villa Marcos.Overall very good value and had everything we needed
Review 50:the cleanliness of the room and bed sheet need to be improve
Review 51:mama food dishes such as potato chicken, tomato rice, fries calamari, moussaka...all food we tried are delicious and the price is reasonable. Markos extend our room one night for Free of charge because we are taking late ferry. He is hardworking and respond to our enquiry as soon as possible. His family members and staff are friendly and helpful.
Review 52:Bathroom bit small and bit old
Review 53:Markos is a very friendly host and picked us up in perissa when we got off the bus at the wrong bus stop rooms are nice with a cute balcony and a little kitchen - nice area, really close to the beach and bus stop
Review 54:Markos and Georgia made us very welcome, it was just like staying with family. The room was clean and we had fresh towels and sheets every day. It was less than a 5 min walk to the beach where there must have been dozens and dozens of bars/restaurants. Even so we still had a few meals at Markos's as the food at Mama's was absolutely superb and at a very reasonable price as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back again as soon as we can. Fantastic holiday.
Review 55:The accommodation was very spacious. And the air con worked well. Within an easy walk of Perishable beach. Breakfast was Ok, but there is a fantastic bakery nearby, so you might be better off making your own. Very relaxing place to stay. And Mark's gave us a lift to the port, at the end of our stay. Go to the tourist office on the beach front for info on the island and tours. The Volcanic Cruise is a must.
Review 56:Another great stay at Villa Markos. Markos and his family look after all there guests like family. Excellent location. Excellent value for money would recommend to friends and family. Will be staying at Villa Markos again next year.
Review 57:Markos is a great host. He makes you feel at home from the beginning. Mama's food is great. Try the souvlaki. Our room was very clean, big and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped, so we cooked and used the balcony table and eat there. The location is perfect. Just 5 mins or less from the beach. Perissa has everything you need... We would definitely stay here again!!! We will miss Markos and his family, they are so nice!
Review 58:Rather poor kitchen equipment. One burner of the cooker was out of order.
Review 59:Markos is very friendly and hospitable person. Hotel is close to the beach with option like swiming pool. Very quiet part of Perissa. Very clean.

Rooms comfortable towels changed and cleaned every day. this year the rooms had new beds. A great family who look after guests nothing is to much trouble and this year there was an additional bonus of Mama's take away food traditional home cooked greek food cooked by Mama and served by daughter Evy all at very good prices eat in or takeway to rooms. Would recommend a stay at this hotel. 10 out of 10 for service.

Review 66:Wifi: Most nights it cut out in the middle of the night (probably too many people using it at that time).
Review 67:Staff: The staff of Villa Markos was wonderful! Markos and his entire family were so sweet and accommodating. If you stay 4 nights Markos will drive you to the airport! Location: The location was great: near both a bus stop to other cities (3 minutes) and the beach (7 minutes. Food: Mamma's food was always so delicious and inexpensive, I ended up eating half of my meals right at the Villa! Wifi: The wifi connection was pretty good Room: Wonderful room with a balcony overlooking the street (which was very quiet) Pool: bonus points for a pool on the property
Review 68:Nothing. For this price, Markos has way exceeded expectation.
Review 69:Markos was super great as owner and host. Location is excellent, less than a 5 mins walk to Perissa beach where the options of places to eat and relax are endless. Would come back again if I were back on Santorini. If you like super luxury, this ain't the place for you. Basic kitchen, beds, a/c, shower and breakfast.

Review 117:The rooms were a real mix. We had three, and they covered the range from almost charming, to dim and stuffy with no balcony. So, ask for what you need in booking ahead. Breakfast was very basic.
Review 118:Everyone was very friendly. proximity to the beach was nice as well as having a cute, very clean pool on site. Small, casual restaurant in hotel was a life saver a couple of times with the kids. Pool patio for breakfast was delightful. We had AC, kitchenette, WIFI, and hanging line for beach towels on balconies. Excellent location and value for our purposes.
Review 119:The family treated us as we were part of the family and true Greek hospitality. Would recommend and will stay again. As one who has lived in Greece for over 10 years the food at hotel(Mama's Take away) is top notch and home cooked everyday and a great value for price. My family and I appreciate the outstanding service they provided and value for $. You will not regret the service and how they treat you like on of there own family.
