Reviews for The Kildare Street Hotel

Review 1:Room 105 was to noisy

Review 2:The hotel staff were very friendly it was our anniversary we got free breakfast and got our room upgrade as ours was to noisy being above the pub

Review 3:The temperature was not consistent - the windows were draughty. The bathroom was really cold - no heat, and no extractor fan. All the bathroom fittings are very old and need renewing - my bath was matt from too much cleaning, the basin was cracked and had lost its waste plug, so a loose plug was provided, the grout around the tiles was stained and the mastic was mouldy. On my last morning water started running out of the light fitting in the bathroom, and the sockets had no power. The member of staff I spoke to was very helpful, telling me that the master switch for the sockets had gone off, and fixing it quickly. But I was rather worried about the water coming from the light, and the general poor state of the equipment in the bathroom.

Review 4:The room was comfortable although cramped, and the staff were friendly.

Review 5:Bad Value for the price paid Stop to refer this hotel at this price it's more an hostel value : for the price paid, I think I was robbed. Noise until 3 a.m Drunk people into the corridor until early morning Need to refresh, improving soundproofing qualities of the room

Review 6:Maybe the bed quality

Review 7:No elevator and we had heavy bags, but the desk staff was WONDERFUL and, without us needing to ask, carried them up to the top floor for us.

Review 8:Location and the hotel staff were both top notch.

Review 9:Room 105 was very cold it required a electronic heater on at all times to stay warm.

Review 10:That the band down stairs ended at 11pm as it was very loud. But 11 pm is acceptable.

Review 11:Hotel cud do with a bit of T.L.C. Windows

Review 12:We got a lovely welcome on arrival. I had a problem with tickets I had got to see a show the gentleman at the front desk was so helpful which was so nice. Also breakfast was very good. Have to say I wud stay here again

Review 13:Just the bathroom I felt was a bit cold.

Review 14:Location is great, very nice staff. There is a pub attached to it, so an evening that we were really tired and raining we just took our pint there, played snooker and listened to a small group doing acoustic there. That was nice.

Review 15:The Music was blaring in bar, I had a first floor bedroom and found thumping noise unbearable. I was told at check-in in that music would be finished in 1 hour, but it went on for over 2 hours. Couldn't sleep with severe headache afterwards. There was no lift in Hotel and as I have a knee injury this was uncomfortable, this info should be relayed at time of booking. The phone in the room wasn't working. I don't normally leave negative reviews but I thought the standard was poor.

Review 16:Location

Review 17:Stayed new years eve and was over double the price of a normal nights stay, but was to be expected I guess. A bit cold but once you're in bed it's super warm. No lift but you get used to it, It's not that bad.

Review 18:Very friendly staff, great location, very clean and very comfortable beds.

Review 19:No lifts. Very poor shower and bathroom. Noise from adjoining property's ventilation fans. More of a hostel than a hotel. Poor value for money.

Review 20:Handy location.

Review 21:We were in room 107 and the very large mirror on the door of thewardrobe was all broken and cracked. This is a potentially verydangerous thing to leave unchanged. If an elderly person fell against itthe whole thing wud fall down on them. Huge risk for a hotel to ignore

Review 22:Great location during the day but dangerous after 22.00 hrs due to verypoor street lighting Drug addicts and homeless guys hanging aroundopposite the hotel

Review 23:I didn't think to check if the hotel had an elevator. It does not. So when you have large luggage and you have to go to the 3rd floor, it's a bit exhausting.

Review 24:Staff was friendly. Great location: You're right near Grafton Street and the stop for the Aircoach shuttle to/from the airport. Room was a bit dated in decor and facilities, but everything worked and it was comfortable! Good discount on food from the bar attached to the hotel. Try the wings :)

Review 25:The hotel is old but in poor repair. There are no facilities to speak of and it is overpriced for its rating. The only thing in its favour is location and friendly staff

Review 26:The staff mainly in the bar were miserable and not very welcoming I'm not one to moan normally but I felt so uncomfortable the two older guys working behind the bar were the worst.

Review 27:Was a very useful location with a decent bar and relatively priced food and drink

Review 28:No elevators, very noisey bar downstairs, room very bright as no blackout blinds. Bathrooms small with very small shower only no tub.

Review 29:A friendly clean place and a good breakfast. A few minutes walk to Grafton St. and Stephen's Green area.

Review 30:Booked as the Kildare Street Hotel but actually ended up in the ifsc apartments, which worked out fine but it was a bit misleading.

Review 31:Amazing value, great location and just very impressed over all with everything

Review 32:Bar ,staff one of them smelled of bad body odour, absolutely disgraceful serving food unhygienic ,barman was a fair haired about mud twenties .

Review 33:I liked the helpful and friendly hotel reception staff ,couldn't be more helpful.

Review 34:Room had a shared bathroom with another room, and when the bathroom came available it was like something out of a 50s movie set.

Review 35:It was reasonably priced

Review 36:Disco and 2 different bars below my room with all playing different music and loud I mean very loud I have actually recorded the noise as evidence to take further action

Review 37:I have requested a call back as room we had was above a disco did not get to sleep until 4am not acceptable. Manager took no ownership. I want a refund or I am seeking 3rd party advice

Review 38:Staff seemed distracted even in a slow time(november). Broken sharp tiles in 3rd floor shared bath. Lightbulbs had to be replaced in two ceiling fixtures after our checkin.

Review 39:The Location !

Review 40:We found a pair of knickers in our room that was neither mine nor my friends. Other than that no faults. Apart from the fact we had to walk up three flights of stairs.

Review 41:The location was brilliant. Walking distance from everything, plus the atmosphere in the bar/club downstairs was brilliant definitely the best place to end our nights.

Review 42:Was very noisy and so we found it hard to sleep. Also, it was far to expensive. It had a shared bathroom between a lot of people and there was often a wait for the toilet with no alternative facilities avaible.

Review 43:Central Location.

Review 44:Comfortable room with coffee, tea water and biscuits. We were sharing a bathroom but there was a sink in the bedroom. Plenty of towels and toiletries in the bathroom. We arrived early and had planned on leaving our luggage until check in time then the guy at reception told us our room was ready and we could check in. Excellent location close to Trinity College, Grafton Street, Dart station. 10 to 15 mins walk to Temple Bar.

Review 45:The photos on the website for the hotel did not match our experience. Our room had sagging beds, old carpet, and an unappealing stain on one of the chairs that looked suspiciously like blood droplets. The dingy hallways and lack of elevator were not welcoming. Poor lighting in the room. The aluminum pie tin that was around the bare light bulb in the bathroom and the mirror hanging by a literal string were also not appealing. Location was great, but I would not stay again.

Review 46:Cant say i disliked anything we did have a shared bathroom but that wasnt a problem to me. Although there is no lift but we only stayed one night so only had small bags☺

Review 47:I only payed 36 pound for a nights stay so i wasnt expecting much but Everyone was so friendly, a bar right in the hotel and a nightclub under the hotel. I asked what time the bar closed and he replied never. Best response i could ever hear?

Review 48:I couldn't bring myself to use the shared bathroom facilities. Totally unavoidable, I appreciate that, and only a small number of rooms affected.

Review 49:Amazing location. Staff really lovely. Spotlessly clean.

Review 50:Main bedroom window needs repaired or replaced. Does not close properly so rattles and allows wind into room.

Review 51:All the staff were very helpful. Especially young man on reception...went out on street to get taxi so i didnt miss my train.

Review 52:Only 1 shower between 6 girls in our room, &there's no lift so moving our luggage was hard work on arrival and departure

Review 53:Brilliant location for a hen do right in the centre and the pub/club attached was amazing and ideal for a hen and stag do or group of friends visiting. The 6 person room was ideal as well as meant we could all stay together

Review 54:Having to leave

Review 55:Most comfortable bed I have ever slept in !! Advertised 4 o'clock check in and I was shown to my room at 11 which was great as I had travelled from Vegas and was knackered

Review 56:Was put in a room beside the staff room and all night long the door wasopening and closing every 2 minutes, plus there was two big fans rightoutside my bedroom window roaring like a jet engine all night long at3.45 I complained to reception , and he told me that they had a problemwith the door closing and that he was sorry and he would come up andblock it up he also told me that the fans were belong to anotherrestaurant , near by, another lie it was the fans coming from theirkitchen and they had an extra panel across the window trying to blockout the noise., The bed was like a bed of nails. So I got no sleep allnight long. In the morning I asked to see the manager, and I was told hewould be in at 11 am so I waited for him but at ll am they told me hewould not be in until after noon, so I called back around 3 pm when theytold me he would not be in until the next day. I was meant to beshopping in Dublin for the day but due to only getting two hours sleepthe night before I just ended up waiting around in the train stationuntil it was time for me to go home.

Review 57:The location was great

Review 58:Fantastic staff friendly and helpful Dublin is an expensive city but this hotel offers a great location and we slept well and were comfortable here. Bathroom a bit basic.

Review 59:Soundproof isn't great... you could hear the people outside and that could be a bit disturbing in the morning as you could hear everything in the hallway.

Review 60:The LOCATION Is Good And Near Temple Bar And Shopping Center.

Review 61:Hostel atmosphere in accommodation. Very densely packed, warning signs plastered on several locations on each floor (like an institution!). Rooms clean, but in need of investment...sagging beds, cigarette burn on sink vanity unit, two TV remotes in room, neither working, main light lamp shade missing.

Review 62:Location, staff attitude, cleanliness.

Review 63:The staff were brilliant and helped with anything you wanted. The location was great especially with a pub and club attached. Very good value for money and great to have the option of a room where all of us (5) could stay together. Great view from the room.

Review 64:Faulty light switches with cables sticking out of the wall. Lamps without light bulb.Old bathroom. Our "family room" was over the pub. Thank God it was a Sunday - still very noisy.I don't think the hotel is suitable for families.

Review 65:Breakfast, central location

Review 66:Noisy at night from external traffic on Nassau Street. SHARED EXTERNAL BATHROOM a bit old fashioned for nowadays.

Review 67:Situation of hotel ideal for us. Comfortable room with good TV and tea making facilities

Review 68:According where you want to go - eg close to government building and Trinity college. Lively pub with genuine Irish music. Kind staff - receptionists as well as manager Mr Hurduc

Review 69:Some noise from street at night but I know this is purely due to the city centre location .

Review 70:Staff were very welcoming and friendly , the location perfect .

Review 71:We arrived at 11pm only to be told that the two rooms which we had booked were not available due to "technical problems" and we were asked to move to the apartments at Spencer Dock- a taxi was called and paid for by the hotel although it took 40 minutes to arrive and we then had to find a shop to buy provisions. Whilst the hotel staff were helpful, we had booked the hotel as we had a business meeting 2 minutes away from there early the next mornings so this was really inconvenient. Although the apartment was very nice, the wait for the taxi and searching for a shop meant that we did not arrive until midnight. The hotel booked us a taxi with the same firm for 8.30am to take us back to Kildare Street but it did not arrive, despite numerous calls. We ended up taking the Luas and walking in the rain. They really need to change their taxi company! Staff were helpful but the whole thing was a disaster for us- we never really ascertained what the "technical hitch" was but I suspect a double booking!

Review 72:Of the two bathrooms available for our room, one of the toilets wouldn't really flush. Very little storage space for a room that could accommodate up to 6 people. The room was missing a few light bulbs, but that was a minor discomfort.

Review 73:Great location, near many attractions, Temple Bar, shops nearby. Clean. Staff was OK.

Review 74:Room 103 was situated right beside the heating/ air conditioning system on the rooftop which was turned on all Night. Even though all my windows are closed it was very noisy. The mattress on the bed was very uncomfortable, you could feel the springs through the material. Good breakfast but the coffee was cold ☹️

Review 75:Very friendly staff

Review 76:No lift. This was defiantly a problem. We were on the 2nd floor and we found the stairs steep esp, with luggage. The hotel itself could do with a good face lift. Esp as the location is so good. It just needs some TLC. Our mattresses in room 222 were so lumpy. I'm glad we were in our own beds as it would be very difficult with 2 in the bed as you would slide into the middle. Hot water took a long time to come on, esp in wash basin . Broken glass on window. Also lighting was so dark at night. Only 1main light, which was dark an 1 bedside light with a black shade. There are 2 double beds so more lighting would help. I would not stay again if I had to pay the full price but as I got a special deal on line it met our needs.

Review 77:The location was brilliant. An Alex at reception was so helpful. Rooms were cleaned daily and with a change of linen. The food across the St. in the School of Francois was lovely esp for breakfast an lunch.

Review 78:Shared bathroom in hallway, rooms were too warm radiators left on all night with no off switches, very noisy area in morning with bin lorries etc just outside at 7/8 am.

Review 79:Rooms were clean and beds were comfy

Review 80:No iron in my room. Had to ask at the desk.. waited a hour and no sign of iron had to leave without ironing my clothes to go to a venue. Also side of Bath was cracked with a hole and tap fittings where in wrong order and not properly fixed shower rail was rusted. Bed and other parts of the room was good. I have stayed here in number of occasions bathrooms need some adjustments

Review 81:Toilet did not flush and we were told to give it a couple of goes, exhaust fan from the kitchen and pub outside the window, food smells and fumes in the room, bathroom very old, broken cabinets and a dangerous slippy bath to step in to when having a shower. We were moved to a room upstairs that again looked nothing like the online photos, it was exactly the same as the room below except the chimney end from the exhaust was right outside the window, give this place a miss.

Review 82:The fact we left the building for other accommodation.

Review 83:The nightclub downstairs is unbearable, considering we were travelling with children. There is no lift, not an issue for us but if you have a lot of bags/kids/disabilities then it will be a problem. When we arrived the bathroom light didn't work. When I told reception, they handed me a light bulb and told me that although they do have a maintenance man, he wasn't going to come out to change a bulb. After standing on one leg on the side of the bath I managed to replace the bulb myself and as a thank you we got free breakfast the next morning. The receptionist looked quite apologetic about it, but it was still pretty shocking.

Review 84:The staff were very friendly.

Review 85:The shower wasn't correctly cleaned, the window was old and not acoustically isolated. We were at the third floor and there was no elevator

Review 86:The position was perfect and the room nice. We had a very pleasant stay.

Review 87:Hotel is a bit outdated and requires some TLC but the location was perfect for us. If your looking for a basic base to explore Dublin then this hotel is perfect.

Review 88:Location of hotel is great. Facilities are basic but our family room was lovely. Clean and comfortable base to explore Dublin. Overall decor is a bit grubby but we knew it wasn't a 4star hotel so we were happy.

Review 89:late check in and early check out. No lift was a huge problem. Nowhere to sit and relax other than the pub.

Review 90:Very convenient to city centre, mueseums and stephens green etc.

Review 91:1.The paintwork in bathroom very mouldy and needing a bit of maintenance. 2.Buffet breakfast poor and having to take it in a bar was not pleasant. 3. The whole place needs a bit of freshening up and attention.

Review 92:The central location made it useful for concerts at night. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 93:- Smell of cigarette smoke in corridor of 1st floor where our room was & smell entered room - Rooms too warm - Couldn't close bedroom windows (even if could close windows need to be open due to heat) - Noisy - Shared bathroom became unclean

Review 94:Location ideal

Review 95:Shared bathroom was ok. Price a little high for what you got, although it was a bank holiday weekend

Review 96:Excellent location for my purposes Flexibility with late checkout - very helpful to have a shower and change after Dublin marathon; few other establishments offered this option.

Review 97:Clients should be advised that if your are given a room on the first floor there will be loud music being played from the bar below, especially on weekends.

Review 98:The location was good.

Review 99:The most uncomfortable bed I slept on during 7 weeks in Ireland. Could feel every spring in the mattress. It would have been even worse if I had paid full advertised price.

Review 100:Right across from Trinity College. Close to Temple Bar. Near to bus stop for Airbus to airport.

Review 101:I didn't like sharing a bathroom but there really wasn't any congestion trying to use the bathroom.

Review 102:It was affordable - especially for Dublin. It isn't really fancy, there is no elevator but it has a nice location near Trinity College and as I said, it seems more reasonably priced than other hotels in Dublin. Most of the staff members were very helpful, there was one staff member who was a bit more cross.

Review 103:Booked at short notice and good for what we required. Food in attaching pub was excellent. Also had a good night in the pub. Group of locals playing instruments and singing a whole range of songs, had a great night

Review 104:the sink in the shared bathroom looks so rusty... but nothing to do with cleanliness! :) breakfast does not look impressive at all

Review 105:the comfort of the bed the cleanliness of the room and the shared bathroom

Review 106:Room location, mattress had a pronounced dip, Wi-Fi down the whole stay. Radiator was left on so when I entered the room it was stifling hot. Only relief of narrow range of opening the window, sparse air that was still warm and laced with the odor of oil/fried food - huge vent right outside the window. Room change offered would not have addressed the Wi-Fi issue which I happened to really need during that time.

Review 107:Location, centrally located, across street from Trinity College. Staff was very accommodating and helpful.

Review 108:VERY LITTLE ABOUT THIS POOR QUALITY THE WORD HOTEL I AM NOT SURE A VERY SMALL CUPBOARD STYLE ROOM NO WARDROBE NO LIFTS NOT MENTIONED IN THE FIRST PLACE GROSSLY OVERPRICED RE ROOMS POOR QUALITY DECORATION BATHROOM FAIR Breakfast food good not prober chairs just a bar duplicated as a restaurant with not much space. would not recommend

Review 109:It's a brilliant location. Walkable distance to Temple Bar and Hard Rock and such. I guess the only issue is if you have a lot of luggage (which we did). They dont have an elevator so you have to carry your suitcases up to your room. Of course the staff do help if they can, but I'm just pointing it out. We stayed in their duplex room since we were 5. It was very nice and comfortable. Staff are very friendly, and the pub attached is affordable with a good ambiance too.

Review 110:The shared bathroom was pretty, but it was very difficult to use the shower, which couldn't deliver enough water.

Review 111:The place was sincerely awesome, the bedroom clean and confortable.

Review 112:The rooms might vary but ... if you like the noise of extractor fans or air conditioning fans running early in the morning or late at night, ask for room 211. If you want bright lines from the back courtyard shining all night, ask for 211. If you want an uneven floor that has you questioning your balance, ask for 211. If you want a bathroom long in need of renovation ... you've got it, ask for 211. This is not a hotel that I'd go back to to in a hurry but I have to admit that Dublin's hotels are not cheap and if you are travelling on a budget there's few options near the city.

Review 113:The staff were very helpful, even offering to carry luggage up to the rooms (up to 3 floors) in the absence of a elevator. That's no minor offer given that the stairs have developed a sideways slope. The hotel is about 3 minutes walk from the Musuem of Archaeology and that place is well worth a visit.

Review 114:1. Cobwebs hanging from ceilings 2. Hole in centre of bed 3. Shower curtain hanging from ceiling with string 4. Broken shower holder meant I had to hold shower head over myself by hand. 5. No lift 6. I could go on and on but I wont :-(

Review 115:Location & Free WiFi

Review 116:Bathroom was a bit dated . Could be a little more brighter. Apart from that did not find anything else wrong.

Review 117:The staff were extremely friendly. Gave us advice and just generally helped with whatever we needed. The location was perfect. Lively area. Room was bigger than expected and clean. Very comfortable.

Review 118:1st night - we were all very itchy - could have been the red duvet & decorative pillows. Next night we took it off and we were better. Also dmoke alarm went off at 1:40am due to other gsts smoking.

Review 119:Front desk staff excellent - from morning until the overnight

Review 120:It is an older hotel, a little run down, but still comfortable and clean. The bathroom especially could use some updating. It is a bit noisy at night, but that is to be expected in this area. Overall, great value for the area, I would stay there again.

Review 121:The location was great, easy walking distance to all the main town center attractions. There were a lot of shops, pubs and restaurant right by the hotel also. The staff were great, very helpful and friendly. There is no elevator but the were quick to help me carry my heavy bags up the stairs. The room was large and clean.

Review 122:Room smelled of smoke (was supposed to be non), Staff helped us open a window to air out (the other window was stuck). They replaced a broken fan to help air the room. The bathroom; filthy shower curtain, in need of general remodel. Nothing felt clean in the bath and room. I usually don't comment on décor but it really is tired and dingy. . I'd look elsewhere

Review 123:Staff and location good

Review 124:Everything, I would not stay here again or recommend it. It needs full refurbishment. Dirty broken tiles in the bathroom,no hairdryer and only one plug in bedroom. Bedroom furniture needs replacing.View directly into the kitchen.

Review 125:Staff unable to comply with request for gluten free inspite of a months notice. Great difficulty regulating temperature of water in shower. Inefficient flush of toilet.

Review 126:My room (325) was too small. Also, there is no elevator and I had to walk 69 stairs up and down at least three times a day. I had recent hip surgery and am not supposed to walk many stairs. If I come again I would need a bigger room on the first floor.

Review 127:The Blarney Pub had good food and a very good breakfast.

Review 128:Location was ideal. Right across the street from the bus stop made for ease of travel to parts of the city too far to walk to. It was located within walking distance of many attractions and Fleet and Grafton Streets.

Review 129:the bed was diabolically uncomfortable - worst i have ever slept on EVER. front desk was able to move rooms - same bed - but with a thick pad that helped. also first night room had a disco inferno all night downstairs. 2nd room was stuffy and window only opened partially - which let in horrible cooking odors and stale cigarette smell. choice was suffocate or endure the stench. bathrooms were shabby - the whole hotel was decrepit and dingy. no lift - depressing.

Review 130:front desk staff were friendly and helpful

Review 131:First appearances weren't great, hotel is very run down and dated looking from the outside.

Review 132:good location, our room was situated to the back of the hotel so was very quiet. Rooms are quite modern as well as friendly staff.

Review 133:Only shortage is without lift. Breakfast is in the bar G floor of the hotel, staff is not professional.food is so so.

Review 134:Just in front of the National Library and convenient for public transportation.

Review 135:Shower was black with mold!! had to buy bottle of bleach to wash off mold. Bed was lumpy and springs were pushing into us. Room was "tiny" Nothing impressed us about this hotel. Staff at reception were stressed. Don't think they have cleaned behind toilet!!

Review 136:pub downstairs
