Reviews for Ensku Husin Guesthouse

Review 1:Our only complaint (and it is minor) is that the breakfast was not as nice as some of the other guest houses we stayed at in Iceland.

Review 2:We loved the setting of this lodge by the river and the fact that they had a cozy fire burning in the fireplace when we arrived and the next morning! If it had been a clear night, we could have seen the northern lights.

Review 3:it was a bit pricy compared to other guest houses of the same caliber

Review 4:Very cosy guesthouse. Nice breakfast with freshly baked bread. Good recommendation for dinner (we were in low season, they did not serve dinner at the time). Cosy communal living room.

Review 5:I would recommend to the owners to figure out a better way to give directions/signage from the highway. It is great that this place is off the beaten path, in this case the gravel road, but that also means it can be hard to find. Perhaps adding lighting to the signs might help.

Review 6:A relaxed and comfortable guest house that is a cross between your great-auntie's place and a country cabin. The property is in a remote location along the river that couldn't be more lovely. You will have breakfast on floral patterned china but lest you think this is all dainty and doilies know that you can relax by the river or hang out in the living room aside the fire. If that wasn't enough guest house goodness there is also the staff person Thea who is super helpful and makes a great guest house experience superior.

Review 7:Difficult to find the location of this guest house in the dark. After the turnoff from 54 there is no immediate sign indicating where the property is, so I ended up driving straight on a gravel road passed it until I figured out that I went too far. Also, soundproofing is non existent but luckily I only stayed for 1 night and my neighbors in the next door room went to sleep 20 minutes after arriving. Wi-fi signal in the room was weak and was going in and out.

Review 8:Living room is very cozy. Thea (sp?) who checked me in and out was very polite and charming despite working 15 hour days. Wi-fi was available. Having continental breakfast included is a big plus in choosing this property before hitting the road in the morning.

Review 9:Staff was helpful and always wore a smile on her face. The guesthouse is Route 1 and some distance from Borganes which means that we need to have our dinner at the guesthouse. We went there in late Sept which was the peak tourist season. The chef did not come in as there were not many guests around. There was no main course and only soup (with freshly baked bread) and ice-cream were available. The food was OK with us but we think that the price was bit on the high side.

Review 10:They didn't have our reservation in their system but they managed to gave us a room with a private bathroom instead of a shared so that was fine. Also, be careful to print your reservation with the price on it as they wanted to charge us an extra 30€ comparing to what was written on our paper.

Review 11:Guest house is down a very long gravel road, there is nothing around. They have a main house and 4 additional rooms with bath added on. We had a room with bath in the newest section Room had double bed, table 2 chairs, night stand. There were no towels, we had to go to the main house to get them, and we got ( for a couple) 2 scratchy bath towels and 1 hand towel. There was a pump bottle of liquid soap... that was the "toiletries" provided. No glasses in room, no wifi in room... you had to go sit in their "lounge" for this. The lounge was filled with people waiting for dinner... overpriced, menu of salmon or lamb stew. Breakfast in the morning was very skimpy, nothing hot, Nescafe coffee, AND, breakfast starts at 8AM, since you are so far from anything, if you want an early start... you will not be able to eat. breakfast items were not promptly refilled as they ran out... which they did as everyone was there right at 8 so they could eat and move on. Place was not worth the money.

Review 12:The room was in an add-on to the house, very simple and not very cosy. Wireless only available in the main room of the house

Review 13:Staff was nice, breakfast good

Review 14:Had trouble using wifi in rooms. Had to go into main building. As other guesthouses, I could have used a lighter blanket as an alternative to the heavy comforter. I was too hot under it, but needed some cover.

Review 15:Very friendly staff. It was nice to have dinner on site rather than go out again after a busy day.

Review 16:It didnt bother us too much, but the toilet curtains stick to our body when showering because of the small space, so it can be a little annoying. After a shower the water "floods" the toilet as well, making it inconvenient to walk in and out. But i have to say this is not a big issue and we still enjoyed ourselves in this lovely guesthouse in Borganes!

Review 17:The staff in the guesthouse were AMAZING. Despite being very young, they are extremely polite and warm. I must highlight that the dinner here is SUPERB and i would recommend it to all the guests in the area! It was the best guesthouse dinner we had overall, quality food in portions that will definitely fill you up well after a long day of travels! The room was cosy and the view we had was lovely.

Review 18:-WiFi only connectable within the main building -Our room is apart from the main building which is a bit simple and crude

Review 19:-A bit difficult to locate if you don't hv GPS -Good breakfast of selective choices -Friendly staff and quiet surrounding -Lovely dining area

Review 20:The hotel owner was very accommodating as we didn't realise we had booked the wrong date for our stay. He got us a room for the day we arrived at no additional charge in the old house that he and his family refurbished and moved from its original spot. Nice to stay in a place with a bit of history.

Review 21:The common area and breakfast area made you feel like home. The new addition where our room was was very clean and modern in contrast to the common area which was traditionally quaint.

Review 22:As with all over Iceland the traditional meal is overly expensive. Not sure why it needs to be at guesthouse locations.

Review 23:Stayed in the lovely 100 plus year old farm house section. Great views of river, short walk to waterfalls. Lots of birdlife in area. Common room and dining area invite talking with other travelers.

Review 24:The shower was a bit average, breakfast wasn't the best we had on our journey. we didn't have any problems checking in but contact with staff low and a little vague.

Review 25:The history, character and decor of the house is quite fun, the bedroom was nice. Reasonably priced for a guesthouse in Iceland.

Review 26:• We saw just one sort of toast, no other sorts of bread or rolls on thebreakfast buffet at 9.30 am • Receptionist asked, just in the firstinstance, for a significant higher price in isk than expected, based ona Booking.com reservation in eur and according to a near realtimecurrency rates app. But he quickly agreed that we were right.

Review 27:• The fantastic view from room no. 7 to the river. • Spacy own bathroomin room no. 7 that even seemed to be bigger / better than the sharedbathroom we just looked at shortly. • Very original “vintage flair”. •Very cosy / warm atmosphere. • Service minded receptionist!

Review 28:Wonderful location, close to river and waterfall, perfect to explore west Iceland. Cozy room in the oldest part of the house with mountains view. Lovely dinner and breakfast and wonderful staff. best place we stayed in Iceland.

Review 29:The picture on Bookings.com. It looks creepy. This place is absolutely PERFECT.

Review 30:THE BEST PLACE TO STAY! I can't say enough great things about Ensku Husin. The couple who own it treat you like family. They spent days tracking down our lost luggage, jumped our dead rental car (after leaping into their car and driving quickly home to get cables when they realized our car was dead), helping us with planning, etc. Our rooms were comfortable and clean and had nice bathrooms. They had a fantastic singer come one evening and perform and she brought a small, merry gathering of followers to see and hear her.

Review 31:Breakfast is not outstanding…

Review 32:Very nice host Well located next to the river

Review 33:Wonderful cosy atmosphere. Very friendly service. Delicious food!

Review 35:Excellent diner The location in a pretty place

Review 36:Weak WiFi signal on the 2nd floor.

Review 37:The great food (dinner and breakfast), the room and the common room.

Review 38:We had a very pleasant stay here! Very good breakfast, nice staff, very quiet location, nice rooms. We truly recommend this place!

Review 39:We loved everything about it, food was good, but it was the most expensive meal we had on our 21/2 week trip.

Review 40:The location is very nice. Be sure to walk to the waterfall and watch the anglers -they are surprisingly successfull

Review 41:beautiful location, lovely room, pleasant and helpful staff, very comfortable

Review 42:Lovely isolated location

Review 43:Wifi signal is intermittent.

Review 44:Friendly atmosphere, excellent dinner

Review 45:Clean and pleasant room. Reasonable drive to many tourist sites. We stayed in the newer building which we liked.

Review 46:Dom z duszą, ciekawa krajobrazowo okolica, dobre jedzenie.

Review 47:Beds are very narrow. Breakfast was chaotic because the room was jammed with too many people.

Review 48:Quiet setting "with a soul", along river.

Review 49:I had to go home!

Review 50:Anna is particulatly welcoming, the property is over 100 years old and restored well providing real character

Review 58:Everything was wonderful....staff very friendly, food excellent, peaceful site.....

Review 59:Girls in a hotel stuff were the most beautiful and kind girls on Iceland ;-). I would like to be there more than one day.

Review 60:Door to our room was broken at the lower corner so rain had soaked the carpet. It was also a concern as we saw mouse traps outside the door.

Review 61:Great location. Great food, accommodated my vegetarian diet.

Review 62:I wish there was an electric socket in my room to charge my phone. I was able to use the one in the bathroom because I was the only upstairs guest.

Review 63:My favorite place by far. This was a quaint guest house with rustic charm. My room was clean and comfortable. The staff was welcoming and friendly. For such an old building it was done very well.

Review 67:Beautiful and quiet location. Charming hostess. Good food.
