Reviews for Hazelbrook House

Review 1:Needs double glazing cause the noise from constant traffic was loud, the mattress was a little tired and the smell of damp from the bathroom was bad.

Review 2:The location is fab.

Review 3:The shower cabin is super small. Don't drop your soap! ;-) hard to move around It wouldnt be bad if they have some renovations inside the room one of these years. But that's just little details

Review 4:You pay for what you get. I found most important: a decent bed. So i liked a good sleep Another plus: having your own facilities: shower, toilet. Towels provided I left Dublin after check-out time and was able, free of charge, to store my luggage in their luggage room. Location: super close to downtown. Everything within walking distance. Airport bus stops in front of hotel!

Review 5:the location was lovely and staff and hotel wer very nice..excellent stay ..pub nearby and also restaurant and a paddy power shop.....what more cud you ask for ...I will be back..

Review 6:It would improve the experience if breakfast was included. Wifi signal was very poor in the hotel room.

Review 7:Very nicely located hotel. Comfortable bed and clean room. Good value for money. Bus tickets to the airport can be bought at the reception. Helpful staff.

Review 8:It was not expensive but it was like a doss house. Cleanliness (electric kettle, window, shower, ...) missing. Felt like once done and since then put it in second place, not much caring about details or mounting things properly/straight. A bit disappointing, pictures on website proposed more...

Review 9:Had TV Had diverse power supplies Chair

Review 10:Didn't have much there such as a bar or even vending machines for snacks but didn't expect much for price

Review 11:Price and location were spot on and rooms where clean and comfy

Review 12:Bad view out the window , looking down into people's houses

Review 13:Rooms were comfortable but small and a tight squeeze. very clean and staff were helpful.

Review 14:The room was to the front of the property and only has single pane with windows which meant noise was an issue - constant traffic through the night. The room was extremely hot and stuffy and with having to open the window made the noise problem even worse. The bedroom was advertised as three single beds but was a double and a single meaning we had to share.

Review 15:Cleanlines of the room was to a high standard. Bedding and bathroom was very fresh. Plenty storage.

Review 16:staff very busy, fee for remote control (5€ returned at check-out)

Review 17:comfortable, spacious room, large bathroom, comfortable beds, the possibility of leaving luggage in the storage, close to the city center

Review 18:Room was quite basic, wi-fi was very poor so working from the room wasn't realistically possible

Review 19:Central location, clean comfortable room, friendly reception staff

Review 20:Everything! Just a short walk from the bus stops and the GPO. And really within walking distance of a lot of the sites. The service was great, rooms were clean, the bathrooms were roomy, the bed was comfortable.

Review 21:Location was good and the room was clean but the bed linen smelled of cigarette smoke.tv in the room and they asked for 5euro extra for a remote. Way overpriced at 82.40. For room wire hangers on a hook was the wardrobe. .would not go back there.

Review 22:Traffic noise was a problem despite double glazing.

Review 23:Great location. 2 minutes walk from 0'Connel Street. Buses for airport stop outside. Train and bus stations only 2 minutes walk.

Review 24:Nothing much caused and issue!

Review 25:The rooms were huge and very clean! Me and my friends stayed in a 5 person room overlooking the back of the property. Very nice, just what we needed!

Review 26:Once again, Hazelbrook didn't disappoint. I had a very pleasant stay, as I always do. The staff were very nice, pleasant and accomodating, the breakfast was very good and the room was clean and comfortable. This is a gem of a place and so centrally located too. I will come here when next I am staying in Dublin again

Review 27:nothing

Review 28:Can't believe they gave me a four beds room... cause I only booked a double room for two nights. I really want to call some girls to have a party with me....

Review 29:Only if there was lift or something for older people that not well. Bad leg cancer stair was was hard But we had a plan.

Review 30:Location They had room service for older parent So they not have go down three flight of stair n back up Thank you

Review 31:very expensive (although generally Dublin is expensive), very noisy (the windows are very old and being on a main road wind and noise of cars and people make it too long to get to sleep). Bad WiFi connection in the room and if you're in the hall sometimes disconnects and takes to return to the signal appear. Although the worst of all was the first day when I found locks on the sheets, indicating that no change sheets or wash them well.

Review 32:location and access to the bus for the airport. It is very central, 2 minutes walk from the Spire (city center)

Review 33:We where in the basement so no window did get quite warm with all the hair electricals being used, but there was patio doors leading out to a small cleaners bit that aloud for fresh air.

Review 34:Group of 5 girls in one room, loads of space, Excellent location, great Wifi signal, friendly staff, beds were really comfy, room was clean, great room for a cheap price, was pleasantly suprised

Review 35:Room was tiny, far too small for 2 adults. The shower was far too small for an adult to use comfortably. The bed was so old and worn that a good night's sleep was impossible.

Review 36:Room was very clean.

Review 37:We were on the 3rd floor and there are no lifts so we had to carry all our luggage up ourselves. We had to pay 5€ deposit for the TV remote which was returned when we left. Each time we went out we had to hand in the key. We had to ask for a hair dryer and would have paid €5 but returned it to the desk as soon as u finished using it.

Review 38:The walls are unfortunately quite thin, so could hear everything in the adjoining rooms. Carpet was ripped in a few places in room, and stains on wall in en suite.

Review 39:The bed was very comfortable, there was tea and coffee provided in room, and nearby to many sights. Had ensuite with toilet and shower.

Review 40:The walls and ceilings are paper thin - you can hear every footstep and every door being opened or closed. You could also hear the traffic from rooms facing the street. Ear plugs are a must for staying in this hotel.

Review 41:Great location - less than 5min from the bus and train stations and close to O'Connell Street, the Liffey River and Temple Bar. Strong, hot showers and a good amount of space in the rooms.

Review 42:Very small room, for three adults, bathroom was tiny and had bad smell no window in bathroom! Bedroom we couldn't leave the window open wouldn't stay up and room was way to stuffy and warm!

Review 43:Location is good for Dublin centre, hotel decor is dated and shower cubicle was in need of a really deep clean, bedding and towels good quality and very clean no lift to third floor so had to ask for lower floor room due to hubbies health, unfortunately room 14 is tiny and quite pokey with a brick wall for a view, was ok for 1 night

Review 44:Really expensive for what it offers. On the first day of our stay we tried to take a bath, and 10 mins later the staff were knocking on our door as there was a flood in the appartment below us...! Bad service, and we had to submit a deposit to be given the remote control for the TV (!). Small room, not particularly clean. Overall very bad value for money.

Review 45:OH!!! We are a couple over 80 years of age and we were on the TOP floor - 5 flights up - of a walk-up!! The staff carried our bags up and down, but the stairs were treacherous for us. No wi-fi. Breakfast was not great! TV in the room had no remote so we had to get up to change channels (after a repairman got it to work for us). Beds were fairly comfortable. Little room in the room for our bags. The ad should have specified that it was not handicapped accessible.

Review 46:The friendly people at the desk. The location of the house.

Review 47:There was no lift. The rooms were very small. The beds were very small. The shower had broken tiles which could cut your bare feet if you were not careful. The staff were unhelpful and uninterested. Very little respect was shown to customers.

Review 48:We needed somewhere that was central to the city

Review 49:Our Wifi wasn't great could have been because we were in the basement. There was no lamp or chairs in the room and locks on doors were poor.

Review 50:Location was great and the bed was great.I enjoyed the breakfast but my partner waited a long time for his I had ate mine before his was served.

Review 51:The room above us were very loud in the middle of the night waking us between 3 - 5 am both nights we were there. We had young children in the room and was inconvenient.

Review 52:Room was a good size with comfortable beds. The bathroom was a good size and clean.

Review 53:- breakfast expensive for the quality and quantity - towels of other people still in the room - really small room - wifi working really not good at all

Review 54:location near the city center and the bus stop

Review 55:The only thing which could have been better was the bathroom door. It didnt close properly but we all knew each other so it was fine.

Review 56:We were in a room for 5 people and there was more than enough room for us, even the bathroom was big. Everything was clean and the people were friendly. We will definitely stay there again when we're in Dublin!

Review 57:It was in a very convenient, safe area within walking distance to all we wanted to see! Little noisy outside the building late at night but to be expected given its convenient location!

Review 58:Wifi Bad No Remote Control for tv. Some Decorating was Been Done , some small things needed fixing shower and tiles in Bathroom.

Review 59:Location Breakfast Staff Good Shower

Review 60:- very low comfort standard (room was just equipped with absolute basic features like bed, small TV and table with water boiler. NO hairdryer, chairs, Wardrobe, cupboard.) - but in comparison to other similiar hotels on that street still above average. - directly located on a busy street,so you should ask for a room on the backside.

Review 61:- very good location for a city trip ( Airport bus station is in front of the hotel, Bus and train central stations are just 5 minutes footwalk away.) - renovation was in progress, when we were there, so the comfort level should increase in the near future.

Review 62:Little bathroom with tiny washbasin, but if you get used to it, it's ok :)

Review 63:Close to sights and day tour pick up points, airport bus stops just in front. Very helpful staff on the reception, friendly and warm hearted staff at breakfast. Good supermarket nearby. Next time I also stay here.

Review 64:Very bad... We received a room where they were repairing everything. Dirty, full of dust, no towels. We ask them some towels and got only 2 shower towels. No face towels, no bath mat. TV? Ok. You have to pay for the remote control, even if on the site the tv is included in the room price. Awfull food for brekfast.

Review 65:The we're no towels in the room, we had to ask for them. The wifi wasn't great and if you were at the front of the room, the main road was quite noisy.

Review 66:The beds were extremely comfortable and clean. A couple of negative remarks but on the whole it was a nice enough place to stay.

Review 67:Pictures were different to what we saw when we came in. Disappointed to say the least. Stains on floor, beds terrible looking, windows dirty and horrid view, ripped seats and totally old decor. Overpriced a little considering the way the room looked.

Review 68:Location was very good. Slept well. Staff very good and helpful, was allowed to leave baggage in the little room downstairs.

Review 69:The property is dirty and in need of updating. There are stains on the carpets, beds, walls. Plaster in the bedroom is crumbling and cracked and wires are exposed. There is live mould growing in the shower. We had to check out after one night only as we could not shower because of how filthy the shower cubicle was. It was not just staining-it was growing mould! This place is a disgrace.

Review 70:Walking distance to Dublin Trinity, Templebar and O'Connell Street.

Review 71:I stayed at 2 different rooms: 1 night in one room, where there was hardly any space to sit on the toilet. " days later I spent 2 nights in room 29 and it was much more comfortable for a very little difference in price.

Review 72:The only negatives were the TV and the Wifi, the TV kept losing signal so we couldn't really watch it and the Wifi kept cutting off. A lamp in each room wiuld be appreciated too! Very minor things!

Review 73:This is a great place to stay, right in the city centre. The staff are very nice and so friendly. Rooms are clean and comfortable.

Review 74:Extremely basic, in urgent need of upgrading. Mould on the walls. Tiny bathroom with a mouldy shower cubicle and toilet, sink unit was in the bedroom with doors hanging off. Dirty windows in our room were opening to the courtyard at the back, poor ventilation. Tiny old fashioned tv and you need to pay £5 deposit for the remote control and you get £4 back. Location was good and staff wete trying their best but for €110 euros extremely poor value for money - for €120 we could have stayed in jury's inn with free breakfast. Very disappointed.

Review 75:Staff

Review 76:The breakfast with rubbish, bad portions for the price

Review 77:Good location, excellent beds, very clean, good staff, bus stop to airport right outside, really recommend staying here, really good place to come back and relax and good location to good pubs

Review 78:Rooms can be very different. Was first place we were in was Room 17 (it was so bad I remembered the number). The twin bed was against a wall on one side so one person had to shift over to get in bed,. The room was tiny and there were cobwebs on the ceiling. We found a black capsule on the "Desk" counter top. There was no soap in the soap dispenser and the shower drain was blocked so the front desk staff gave me a bottle of acid to clear it - it worked but smelled terrible and smoked as the acid ate whatever was int he drain. The bathroom mirror had a large crack running through it and the bathroom door wouldn't close. The bed was soft and lumpy and people talking outside kept us up until 2am. We awoke in the morning around 7am to loud noise outside our window and notice there were workmen building a wall on the property. I called and they asked them to keep it down but they didn't. This was possibly the single worst room I have ever stayed in. We had enough and made a decision to either get another room or leave despite paying up front. Luckily they gave us another room near the road. It too was a little dingy but it was much bigger and less noisy - a little road noise didn't bother us. As to wifi, it never worked in our rooms, I had to go downstairs to get access and then it still cut out occasionally. This place is in a great location but to call it "3 stars" is a huge stretch as most other hotels in Europe like this one would be 1-2 stars (and probably listed more as a 1 star). If you choose it make sure to stay away from room 17, but my advice is not to prepay for several nights because you might be stuck in a terrible hole for your vacation.

Review 79:Location was good along a street filled with hostels, but lots of places to eat nearby and access to major tourist streets

Review 80:Not very happy staff. Would have liked breakfast included in the price.

Review 81:When we arrived the room that we booked was not big enough, but luckily they had a bigger room so there was no problem upgrading. Airport bus stops right on the door step.

Review 82:could use more toiletries like complimentary shampoo and soap for those guest on short stay that could not bring them in carry on luggage

Review 83:excellent location

Review 84:No breakfast option

Review 85:Room was advertised as a single room but had a double bed. Location very handy. Very cheap price for Dublin centre. Handy place to stay for a night before flight.

Review 86:My sister And I asked far a chair, they hadn't. Too cold: we couldn't sleep : too much air from the window, no carpet in the toilette : it was like a prison! Nomore we'll book by you!

Review 87:Made no effort to offer us extra pillows knowing that's we had an extra person, no hot water couldn't have a shower, the heat was over powering should have Air con or fan, upstairs room was very load

Review 88:Shower a little cold, kettle didn't reach plug socket (?!), noisy traffic (which is unpreventable in a city)

Review 89:The location was absolutely amazing, right in the centre of the buzz of the city, the price was the cheapest in town and there was wifi and a comfy bed! Did the trick!

Review 90:Paying on entry. No proper parking facilities. God awful noise of some kind of bad plumbing/rattling going on at very regular intervals, at all hours. Like all of Dublin it's expensive for what it is. Terrible veiw of carnage from our window which wouldn't stay open anyway.

Review 91:Close buy to the edge of city centre. Good for walkers and browsers. Bit of a trek if you want to be around the temple area. Nice attentive staff on welcome. Breakfast was very good and adjusted to needs by good staff.

Review 92:We were charged 'Breakfast'. You advertise ' Breakfast'. There was ' No ' Breakfast'. There was no dinning room. The manager!! Was continually not available???

Review 93:A £20 refund. I would like? ??

Review 94:Domestos in the shower wouldn't go a miss. Shower was black in room 6, dado rail was hanging off, half curtain pole missing, broken shelf at sink, bathroom mouldy

Review 95:The bed sheets were clean

Review 96:The only thing that we missed since we last stayed here was the breakfast - we absolutely loved the breakfasts provided here and it's a shame they are no longer offered, hope they bring them back!

Review 97:My husband and I have stayed in Hazelbrook House every time we have visited Dublin for nearly 10 years and we cannot fault it. The rooms are not exactly luxurious but this is a guesthouse after all, not a fancy hotel and for the price you cannot complain! The beds are comfy, the rooms&bathrooms are clean and the staff is friendly. Staff will help with anything, they are lovely people. We really appreciated the car parking facilities too. Great prices for a city centre location. Would highly recommend to all - please don't listen to poor reviews of this place!

Review 98:Fantastic location, great price, just what we needed.... 24 hour reception...gave us an early morning wake up call @ 3:45 for our return flight home, taxi ordered, all in all couldn't fault it. We will be back !

Review 99:The property should renovate as there are many unrepaired facility. Unfriendly staff I would said.

Review 100:Beds are comfortable. The location of the property to city is really good.

Review 101:Was disappointed with our stay when on arriving had to wait for room a half an hour after three hours travelling when entering room we realised there was no cot as requested and then had to put it up ourself and carry it up three flights of stairs bathroom was poorly maintained with shower door falling off light in bathroom had to be hit to be put on

Review 102:The beds were lumpy and even tippy (yes, ours tipped several inches when someone was on one side or the other). The luggage storage room was self-serve and chaotic. There was a water leak from a floor above, which rendered our bathroom unusable part of the time.

Review 103:The location is very handy to Dublin city center attractions.

Review 104:I had stayed here 10 yrs previous to this and they used to serve breakfast, now they don't. :-(

Review 105:Good value for money with comfortable beds. Location ideal for us.

Review 106:The location is pretty good. About 5-10 mins walk to city or temple bar. Not too noisy compared to the other places I've stayed. Receptionist is friendly, warm and kind gentleman. Helped to carry our luggage's since we stayed at the top floor and gave us directions whenever needed. Overall really good and affordable. XD

Review 107:Maybe a little care to the bathroom tiles kinda falling off n sink cracked but it didn't actually affect me so all good

Review 108:It was all ok did the job don't have anything really bad to say

Review 109:It is so irritating you need to enter and leave the accommodation if the receptionist presses a buzzer. If someone is in a rush and the receptionist is not there it is a hassle. I suggest using the buzzer system after a certain time in the night as compared to using it the whole day.

Review 110:Clean rooms

Review 111:There were 2 beds in our 'double' room with only 5 inches between them, the TV did not work, we were on the top storey with no lift and we are in our seventies !!

Review 112:The bed was comfortable, the towels were clean

Review 113:There was nowhere to put your clothes like a wardrobe, no fan as stated on the booking, the TV had no signal and was so tiny I could hardly see it, the window was so thin I could hear people outside at 4 in the morning which woke me up, no net curtains so everyone could see me getting dressed, dirty shower, shower drain was clogged up with hair. I paid a lot of money and there's not even a breakfast available. Not good!!

Review 114:Comfy bed, lovely man at the reception

Review 115:Staff not very kind. we wanted to stay for 2 more nights and the receptionist didn't solve it quick...so we ended making a reservation in a hostel just in front because no response was given, and he didn't even care, he just let me do that.

Review 116:Bed was comfortable and the room was in general clean. not very cheap but is in the budget range with excellent location.

Review 117:Carpark in - a garage that fits 4 cars very tightly. If u value your car wouldn't rely on it as more than likely to get damaged. Room could have been more aesthetically pleasing. Missing skirting boards and broken drawer front. No lock or snib on bathroom door.

Review 118:Size of room with 4 beds (3 single 1 double) was good, didn't feel like we were sleeping on top of each other. Shower was clean.

Review 119:No real negatives - you get what you pay for the rooms and bedding all very clean. The building is old and the decor outdated but ideal for a 1 night stay.

Review 120:Great location - Got Reduction for Clery's Car Park only cost €8.00 for overnight stay

Review 121:Facilities are not the newest: tiny TV, old water boiler, bathroom could use some renovation, little space in the room

Review 122:The receptionists were always friendly. You can get a hairdryer from them if you need. Hotel is clean and the bed was fine. Wifi was ok. Location is very practical: central and with bus stop to the airport.

Review 123:very old & dusty furniture..nothing like pics. Paperthin walls & noisy corridors, broken TV, shower & no room to move!! Had a musty smell, as well

Review 124:Close to where we had to pick up a tour early following day

Review 125:Very cramped, no chair to sit in, no where to put backpacks or suitcase. Steel staircase in courtyard across from our room was very loud at night. A few hangers on the back of the bathroom door for hanging damps coats.

Review 126:It was clean

Review 127:not very good for disabled people, was rite at top had to climb full flight off stairs, didnt help im waiting on hip replacement, so found it hard, but all rooms were full so not a lot could be done really,

Review 128:was well central, room not bad, did fine for short break, would probably use again if back in dublin.

Review 129:Staff was rude, I didn't even speaking to them at all. Not even a goodbye when I thanked them for the stay. Kettle had no plug near by and the cable was to short to reach a plug while sitting on a table so had to boil it on the floor. Shower head didn't move and was pointed nearly out the shower door.

Review 130:The hotel was clean and warm. Bedroom was clean and comfortable, bathroom was the same. Quiet even though it was along a busy road.

Review 131:It was fine except for the fact I asked for the bill in Euros and they did it in U.S. dollars at an inflated rate, so when I got my credit card bill I was charged more than I should. Thank goodness the credit card company was understanding and credited my bill for it. Plus a broken tile in the bathroom that could have sliced a foot.

Review 132:The shower was filthy (lots of mold). Wifi was virtually worthless, almost never working properly. The property was surrounded by youth hostels in what appeared to be a questionable area. Most of the staff were rude and/or aloof. The property can only effectively be reached via taxi or bus. It is not very close to the train station. Luggage drop-off is in a "shared" dingy closet, so anyone could take another's luggage.

Review 133:It was slightly better than sleeping in the street.
