Reviews for Griya Santrian a Beach Resort
Review 1:Rooms small and lots of things that are standard in other hotels are charged for eg DVD player. The hair dryer was useless and old. Room service was poor. Pool closed too early.
Review 2:The location was good. Friendly staff mostly. The gardens are beautiful.
Review 3:This hotel is located on the beach and was beautifully maintained. The staff were always friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We were 2 families with teenage children and Sanur was sooo much nicer than Kuta.
Review 4:We didn't find the food very pleasant here, particularly the corner bar. The beds were way too hard for our liking. They did try to soften by putting a Doona under the sheet but the mattress didn't have any give, so we both had aching bodies..
Review 5:Lovely pool and great affordable spa.. We stayed in the newer rooms which overlooked the middle pool. They were clean and air conditioning was good. Beautiful grounds and gardens..
Review 6:Service was a bit slow, but they were friendly. The ocean water in Sanur is unclean. But this is not the hotel's fault. It is far prettier 'to look at', than it is 'nice to swim in'.
Review 7:Love the beautiful grounds, location on the beach is ideal. Amenities within walking distance. Accomodating staff at the front desk. Lovely pools. Nice rooms and balconies. Seems new and fresh.
Review 8:Do not pay for anything in advance because they will fight for every penny you have paid. For example, do not pay in advance for breakfast. Pay for one day, try it out, and if you like a lot of flies around your food while you eat, then pay for the remaining days. We felt breakfast was not good and kind of nasty, therefore not worth it. They refused to refund our money for the remaining days and just gave us food and beverage credit that we used for happy hour. There are many restaurants near the hotel that are cheaper and delicious that you can try instead. The hotel food is below average.
Review 9:The newer rooms on the upper floors are nicer. They are closer to what you expect for the price you are paying. Other resort rooms are too old and have horrible lighting. All rooms are overpriced.
Review 10:The breakfast could have been much better for the money we paid staying at this resort.
Review 11:The choice of pools, beach access, st access, friendly staff. The spa was cheap in comparison to spa treatments in Australia, hot rock massage for 60mins $16.50.
Review 12:As always it is a beautiful resort and the staff are very helpful and friendly. We were given a free upgrade to a beachfront room and it was excellent. A very relaxing holiday.
Review 13:nearer the pool it can be noisy, but its worth it if youre in a balcony room overlooking the pool. we also had bed bugs in our room, but that happens so we werent too upset about it (just keep your stuff high up in wardrobes when you go anywhere, because you may not now there are bed bugs until youve been bitten). however, they did move us. initially they tried to move us to a roo, facing the wall, but then we got an upgrade). overall, loved the hotel and were sad to leave.
Review 14:location - sanur is amazing for a chilled holiday. the hotel has 3 great pools, and breakfast was lovely. go here if you want to chill out and go for short cycles. the hotel is also right on the beach. its really a lovely stay, i'd recommend it highly. also if its a choice between seminyak or sanur... always sanur.
Review 15:Dirty, a lot of ants crawling around while dinning and the manager was no help when trying to make a call from reception
Review 16:Great location and nice/ quite
Review 17:Despite the fantastic staff & environment, we were approached by one of the hotels drivers for a one day trip. Not only the hotel's driver tried to scam us by pushing us to by goods from tourist places, but he called my fiancé " stupid ", because she dared to deny the fact that it wouldn't take 2 hours from our hotel to the airport. This ruined our last day at the hotel and Bali in general. So the hotel must be more careful regarding who they recruit.
Review 18:The hotel is FANTASTIC, the staff amazing, the perfect place for a honey moon!
Review 19:This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel. Satrian has very friendly staff, the food is delicious, the pools great and the location is amazing.
Review 20:This was my first stay at Griya Santrian. My wife had stayed here before and raved about the place. I have to say she was right. The highlight for me was the friendly staff and the beautiful facilities. Everything was first rate. I found Sanur a much more relaxed and less chaotic area than the more popular areas of Bali, which suited us as we just wanted to chill out. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Griya Santrian.
Review 21:- Rooms are very basic - Breakfast-Selection is small, compared to other Hotels of that standard.
Review 22:- Nice pool areas - Beautiful garden - Friendly staff
Review 23:They started covering the pool chairs at 5 30 pm and you couldn't swim after 8
Review 24:The location was fantastic , on the beach and close to lots of restaurants. Our room was opposite the 2nd pool and nice and central. A nice comfy bed and peaceful surroundings . Will definitely return.
Review 25:Most amazing location, staff & facilities . The selection of pools were amazing and the privacy of each villa was perfect. We loved every minute of it!
Review 26:Nothing to really complain, except that we wanted to extend our stay in the same beachfront room but that one was booked and they only had rooms in the back while we preferred being close to the beach.
Review 27:Excellent location in the centre of Sanur. I was in doubt whether to choose this hotel or their sister hotel The Puri Santrian but was happy I chose this one due to the perfect location in Sanur with lots of restaurants and shops.Nice deluxe room near the beach. Staff excellent, even provided soft topper for the bed. Nice pool area with sea view. And they have their own beach with sunbeds and parasols. Nice Balinese garden and atmosphere. Don't hesitate, just book :)
Review 28:Standard room looks poorly maintained. Management didn't answer email after stay.
Review 29:A lot of facilities and breakfast with good choice. Hotel owns a private beach.
Review 30:Always like I am coming home. Come at least twice a year. Everyone is so friendly helpful and genuinely seem to care. Fab gardens and it actually feels like Bali and is in a great position. Really comfortable and clean rooms and great balcony! Yes I have a favourite room. As a seasoned Bali Traveller this is the only place I will now stay! Love you Griya.
Review 31:Restaurant food only average but quite pricey especially when you have to add on 21% taxes etc so we only ate here once during our 6 night stay.
Review 32:Location excellent. Very nice rooms, pool area, beach area. Reception staff excellent and very helpful. Rooms comfortable great bathroon and well designed.
Review 33:Sanur is a very picturesque part of Bali, which is well situated to explore other areas. The Griya Sanrian is an excellent 4 star hotel that presents the best of Bali in terms of its grounds, pools, accommodation and very attentive staff.
Review 34:No bad experiences at all, my only comment was that the food menu in the hotel restaurant is little bit limited in choices, and some items didn't taste as expected.
Review 35:The warm greetings of the staff and their initiative to help. Our room has been upgraded once we checked in which was a nice surprise. The hotel atmosphere is really amazing.. I enjoyed my stay in Griya Santrian
Review 36:Unfortunately you cannot really go the sea for swimming (but that was known before)
Review 37:We enjoyed a nice room close to the garden pool and liked the quiet environment Very friendly staff and rich breakfast buffet choice
Review 38:Not much however room did smell mouldy but it may be due to itbeing empty for a few days, probably not representative of the hotel.
Review 39:Awesome resort, good facilities, could move in for a few months. Resort is visually stunning and on the beach, recommend staying there.
Review 40:Bed was a bit hard but nothing too bad and wifi very unstable (though that should be the least of anyone worries in such a place).
Review 41:The staff was cheerful, helpful and always smiling, a delight. The breakfast was also very complete, even though local food was minimal compare to the rest it remains very good. Last but certainly not least, the pools are amazing, especially the second/middle one which make us feel like we were in a paradise.
Review 42:The majority of the staff were friendly and courteous, however, a few of the more mature staff were very surly bordering on rude. Perhaps they should take some back to basic training in customer service and follow lead from the younger more professional staff.
Review 43:The hotel grounds are beautiful and remind me of Siem Riep in Cambodia with the quirky temples and walls that look like their from an ancient world. There's three pools with the two further into the grounds offering relaxation. The pool on the sea front is busier. The hotel location is steps from the beach which is where we spent the majority of our time swimming and lounging. There's plenty of sun beds too so no need to claim a bed at the crack of dawn! Well worth getting up though to see the sunrise - beautiful. The food was great with a good variety buffet breakfast. If it's peace and relaxation you're after then this is the place to stay.
Review 44:The pool towels were limited to one per day and werent fresh, once wet they were smelly. Would recommend bringing your own extra beach towel.
Review 45:Friendly welcome with tropical juice on arrival. Lovely clean pools. Good food from restaurant and cafe plus swim up bar. Excellent location in Sanur, in walking distance of dozens of restaurants, shops and supermarket.
Review 46:We didn't like how people would put towels on pool chairs first thing in the morning & not come back for hours & the pool guys wouldn't remove the towels even though other people who wanted to use the pool couldn't use a chair that wasn't being used ( very annoying ). A bit overpriced especially when your paying tax & service charges on food ,drinks etc
Review 47:Location was excellent, staff very friendly & helpful . Beautiful grounds & great massages.
Review 48:Everything. Beach, pools, gardens and communal areas there was something for everyone. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was everything you could need it to be. Breakfasts were some of the best we have ever had, they have everything covered. Would gladly recommend this hotel to anyone.
Review 49:We travelled with an elderly relative (89 years old) so it was important to have the right location and facilities on site. The resort is lovely, with international standard facilities and beautiful gardens. Staff were all very professional, friendly and extremely helpful. The Spa was particularly good, with well trained staff, and it was reasonably priced.
Review 50:Pillows could be upgraded!!! More yoga classes!!
Review 51:Loved the staff. The 3 pools.... The clean beach and the equipment the hotel supplied for their guests such as: bikes, canoes , free yoga etc....
Review 52:The Internet connection was patchy, only worked correctly while on the balcony, and continuing to log in over 30 times a day, due to lost connections was annoying! We stayed at the Puri Santrian hotel last year and the day beds, lounges, and seating area at the beach front had a much nicer choice of places to relax with or without shade. I would love to have the option of having eggs benedict, I would be happy to pay an additional amount but I asked twice and this could not be done.
Review 53:Comfortable, friendly, a nice place to stay but it wasn't amazing.
Review 54:Too popular now, it is harder to get a room and a bit busier. The new pool was a bit difficult to get into for my 86 year old mother. She did find a trick of sitting on the edge and swinging in, so it was not a major problem. It would be nice if we were remembered. I know they have a lot of visitors but recognition of loyalty would be a nice touch.
Review 55:We have stayed here many times over the last 10 years and it is always great. The upgraded rooms were lovely and the location is still superb.
Review 56:Breakfast was not good, so we ate out at the local cafes for breakfast
Review 57:Great position on beautiful Sanur beach, with lots of restaurants and activities nearby.
Review 58:The music entertainment on the beach could be cut down a little.
Review 59:Local charm and discreet luxury right at the sea at this charming site. We enjoyed it very much. Very serviceminded when we arranged our trip på Gili Island.
Review 60:We paid for deluxe pool or garden view rooms ... The double had a brilliant view but the twin room looked onto a wall. There are only 3 twin rooms in the block.., all looking onto the wall... 134 234 and 334 .. So avoid them! They did offer us a double bed room but that wasn't suitable for our needs so we stayed put ... They did everything to try to remedy this and did give us a meal for 4 on the beach which was amazing .. And we used the balcony with the view!
Review 61:Live music band on Mondays was great, music other nights great good too... Lots if variety. Cocktails brilliant( except 3 for 2 selection) pools great and all staff so friendly ... Couldn't do enough for us! Great place to stay... Right in centre of what's happening in Sanur and on the beach... So nice breeze! We stayed jn new refurbished 3 story block with lift which was spacious and walk in wet room shower.
Review 62:I am sad not being there now!
Review 63:Right on the beach. Sitting at the pool bar watching the ocean. Walk to the front of the property and you are on Sanur's main street with all the bars and restaurants.
Review 64:The price is more on the higher side, last day pb with the airport (closed due to vulcano erruption), some staff members were not very keen on helping.. The breakfast is nice but coffee not good...Weird smell in the bathroom (new; deluxe rooms; and few time no water at all for few minutes, then very low pressure - maybe general problem in Bali?)
Review 65:The staff, the location, the beauty of gardens
Review 66:As a resort it's not the properties fault but Sanurs sea is unswimable, beach is not as beautiful as it was shown in the images.
Review 67:Griya is a big resort everything was close to perfection. Staff was helpful Wi-Fi is literally everywhere.
Review 68:IF I have to complain about anything it would be that the seats on the push bikes were hard... but I guess we did ride for about 10 k's in a swimsuit..
Review 69:Pretty much everything, The location, staff and facilities were all excellent. Maybe a bit overpriced per night but not by much
Review 70:Could do with a bit more variety for breakfast. Also shower was broken in our room.
Review 71:Lovely beachfront hotel. Nice rooms, great pools (two) and lots of sun loungers. Lovely hotel grounds which gave it a nice relaxed atmosphere.
Review 72:Nothing!
Review 74:A pancake station at breakfast would have been nice but the kitchen made me one on request. I thought the hotel was a bit overpriced
Review 75:The gardens beautiful and the staff exceptional
Review 76:I think the breakfast dishes need a little more work, some items were dried/ing out or just needed more flavour.
Review 77:Had a very relaxed two days here, the pool was perfect with swim up bar. Beautiful gardens and amazing private pool out the back! It was a one stop shop for a lot of our requirements. Will love to go back and stay with our kids. And good free coffee included!
Review 78:It dawn on me that the hotel/resort is managed by 'A family'. A male front desk employee using commanding ways in giving directions while registering at hotel, and using permission tone when agreeing with request. Noticing the tone, I weighed this to be because of culture-a mature woman traveling solo- or lack of customer service??? Same male employee proved to be very informational Bali. On seafood night- slow service- but noticed my walking away and ran after me to prepare bill. Squid-smelled fishy? Asked for liquor store nearby, to get tequila Patron, claimed not to know with a smile,(by the manicure/woman), thank you very much, and a byeee.
Review 79:The room comfort.
Review 80:Fantastic hotel. Outstanding location. Beautiful gardens and pools. Wonderful staff. Great breakfast. Wonderful large, clean rooms - very comfortable bed, lovely balcony
Review 81:We would fully recommend this hotel. Lovely location, beautiful surroundings, all pools very brilliant and right on the beach. All very clean and very friendly and helpful staff. We will definitely be visiting again.
Review 82:Nothing
Review 83:We loved the location, near restaurants and at the beach. The staff were always helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the pools, and the food in the restaurant was very nice.
Review 84:Hotel staff were friendly but clueless about activities around the area. Best to arrange your own activities
Review 85:Location was great, hotel was modern but in a traditional style which was lovely. Right on the beach and close to restaurants
Review 86:The room was very average. We booked a garden room and it was average. The bathroom was tiny and the shower was dirty. Each day the room was cleaned but the bench in the bathroom bench wasn't wiped (happy to clean myself!). Just felt the staff weren't that happy to be there, the pool attendant was smoking a cigarette as he was cleaning the pool and they started covering the chairs at the pool before 4pm..I had to ask them if I could sit down at the pool at 4pm. I felt that for the level it is pitched on booking.com it wasn't there. The reception wasn't overly helpful, did their job but absolutely nothing..felt like a chore. Sorry for the average review, Sanur was lovely for a relaxing break but if you want a lovely room...upgrade.
Review 87:The location was great, good restaurants close by but the beach wasn't use for swimming. The pools were lovely.
Review 88:the wifi was pretty slow and kept disconnecting.
Review 89:Very friendly staff, hotel kept clean all the time, pretty balinase architecture, great location on the beach close to many restaurants, shops etc.
Review 90:Wifi reception and Indosat were only workable in the restaurant area....but this is common everywhere I stayed
Review 91:Lovely staff....all very helpful and happy. Excellent room and very clean. They were extremely helpful with bag-minding and showers while waiting for my late flight home.
Review 92:Room is outdated and the air-conditioning is in the hallway instead of the room
Review 93:nice beach and surroundings. Bed was very pretty (4 poster with a mosquito net)
Review 94:The nightly rate is that of a five star and I just don't think it meets those expectations. There is no gym, despite the pool not closing till 8pm the sunbeds get covered over in the afternoon.
Review 95:The hotel is located right on the beach front with a swim up pool bar overlooking it. The rooms are comfortable, clean and modern
Review 96:The noise of the cleaner and room service trollies .
Review 97:Great location ,well maintaned rooms , pools and surrounds . Excellent staff and good standard restuarant .
Review 98:We loved this place! We initially booked for 3 days but extended our stay to 6 nights! It's a great location, directly on the beach and with only short walking distance to bars and restaurants. Staff are super friendly and helpful, food is great, rooms are very nice, spacious and clean!
Review 99:Extremely , really extremely dirty beach near the hotel, hotel staff absolutely do not care about clearness of the beach. Noise of staff outside in the mornings starting from 7 am. Misundestandings with afternoon tea.
Review 100:Location of the hotel, breakfast, kind staff of the hotel, architekture of the hotel, grounds, garden, room facilities, room style, room comfort
Review 101:Tiny & awkward bathroom
Review 102:Location, the very welcoming & lovely staff, breakfast, large room, 3 choices of pool & the pedicures & manicures were fairly priced & done really well. I mentioned in the booking that it was my husbands and I 3rd wedding anniversary. When we returned to our room later that day, there were flowers, a heart shaped chocolate cake and a plate of fruit. This was so lovely & made our day. So very thoughtful!
Review 103:-The room we assigned was very old and considering cost, I felt it's very expensive. -The bed quality was not so good. -Breakfastr was very poor. Actually the most poorest breakfast I have ever had in Bali even though I have stayed 5-6 different properties before.
Review 104:-Very good location. Walk distance to cafe and restaurants in Sanur. -Many greens and very quiet.
Review 105:Breakfast could have been better but did not matter. Iy was quiet, near the beach and what a fantastic holiday.
Review 106:The staff and pools were fantastic as was the location being right near the centre of Sanur and its restaurants.
Review 107:New room, but shower didn't drain properly. Asked twice to be fixed wiyhout success. Just put up with it.
Review 108:Location,nearby restaurants,swimming pools.
Review 109:Wifi connection and speed was disappointing given how nice of a place this is. Regularly cut out or just went down, staff not helpful to be it up and running. This really bothered me as a solo traveler.
Review 110:Beds were comfortable and the overall decor and maintenance of the property was great. Staff was always friendly too but not overly helpful.
Review 111:We couldn't fault anything.
Review 112:Staff were friendly and helpful without being in your face. The facilities are first class, we stayed in a deluxe room. The location is excellent, close to shopping and restaurants and it only cost around $20au return to catch a taxi to Kuta when we wanted to do some more serious shopping. This is definitely a place that caters for a more mature crowd who are there to relax, probably not the place to take young children which suited our needs perfectly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Griya to friends and family. We are looking forward to going back as soon as we can.
Review 113:Read the reviews someone said beach was full of limestone this isn't true it's lovely, gardens are pristine, staff great, food excellent, everything you need for a prefect relaxing holiday, off next year
Review 114:The traditional music over breakfast was too much for me in the mornings, but others may like it. The only thing missing was a gym.
Review 115:Impeccably maintained and clean, from the magnificent grounds to the solid, quiet rooms. Wonderful layout of facilities, choice of pools and restaurants. Fantastic helpful staff, idyllic holiday!
Review 116:Great location and grounds. I had a ground floor room and so enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the world go by. Sanur is the place to go for a relaxed holiday. Hope to return next year.
Review 117:Maybe a little pricy food and also 8 dollar for breakfast each morning for our 4 year old that even didn't drank one glass of juice for breakfast.
Review 118:The gardenpool, the beach pool, the location and the garden. Wonderful!!!
Review 119:• Nothing I could think of, except perhaps the beach and the ocean – I would have never thought of coming here from Australia for beach alone though...
Review 120:• Fantastic grounds of the resort • Beautiful, well maintained swimming pools and spas • Great staff • Good security • Privacy • Good quality, modern facilities and fittings fhroughout • Large, private balcony with a view
Review 121:Not recommended if looking for nightlife but only 30 mins in taxi from kuta
Review 122:Relaxing atmosphere Away from hustle of markets or busy shopping areas but within walking distance /short taxi Lovely restaurants right outside hotel 3 monkeys and the village is def recommended
Review 123:For me everything was positive. Some areas of hotel need renovation but I was lucky to stay in a brand new wing
Review 124:Newly built room Large bathroom Great restaurants in the hotel area Close to beach Fantastic location Quiet and relaxing 3 pools
Review 125:Nothing, all was fine.
Review 126:Very clean and nice, several pools, lots of sunbeads both on the beach and at the pools. Can borrow bikes. Great breakfast buffet. Very nice personnel.
Review 127:On our balcony in the early morning we could smell cigarette smoke coming from the balconies on either side of us. The bed was a bit hard for me
Review 128:The staff were marvelous. The garden swimming pool was beautiful. The food at both restaurants was delicious. We loved the art gallery. We have Balinese friends in Denpasar and it was nice to be able to have them visit there. I was sad to leave. It is a real oasis from the world at large.
Review 129:No breakfast included in price. The plumbing needs attention. Mosquitos in room so need perhaps spraying daily in rooms. The sheets- no top sheet until we asked which means you are sleeping under a doona which has had other bodies against it yuk! All else lovely.
Review 130:We liked the quiet, the pool and surrounds. The gardens were well maintained and lush, the pool area clean and constantly swept. Our room was one of the new wing ones and was more than adequate but the plumbing in the shower was poor The air conditioner worked well. The sliding door was stiff to open but that will improve with use. The net curtains may become torn as they catch on the door when closing. The Wifi was adequate but a little erratic at times, but we are in Bali. All of the staff were courteous and friendly at ALL times. We would love to return for another holiday in the future. X
Review 131:The Griya Santrian was a lovely surprise and find in Sanur. Exceptionally clean and immaculate grounds. Travelled with adult children and their partners all very happy. Have stayed in various hotels in Bali on 13 occasions. Will be recommending and staying again. Beach location is perfect. Great restaurants close by. Free bike use for 2 hours a day was a great bonus for exploring along the broad walk.
Review 132:Wifi was a bit up and down but we coped!
Review 133:We liked the spacious rooms and balconies, the garden surroundings and beach access. It was also an easy walk to restaurants outside.
Review 134:on arrival staff was cold (in sharp contrast with other Bali hotels we went to). Room had small window / little light getting in, combined with dark brown worn-out furniture, gave a grim feeling. cold atmosphere of the room, poor bathroom. Breakfast staff was not most welcoming. This hotel looked ok on pictures, but by Bali standards, is really poor value for money (at least the room and experience we had).
Review 135:- on a nice beach / location
