Reviews for Laekjarkot Rooms and Cottages
Review 1:Nothing, everything was great.
Review 2:The rooms have a perfect view of the nearby mountains. We were really hoping to see the northern lights, which were able from the hotel grounds.
Review 3:Lovely stay in nice, clean and comfortable rooms with a kitchenette, friendly host and lovely views. Not very far from Reykjavik if you want to visit the capital.
Review 4:The drive way is not labeled with the room names we almost missed it. - not a complaint really just an observation.
Review 5:We came early and the gentleman was accommodating. The room was very clean and had all that was needed for a night in the area. The location was very representative of the area, the towns close by are full of history of the Vikings and original settlers of Iceland. The townships are full of character and the host had an information book in the room to barrow and provided information on how to get to and from attractions. The wife of the location is an artist and although we didn't get to see her gallery there is one of a kind woolen art in the room and it is very cool indeed.
Review 6:potholes on the drive down to the accommodation could have done with extra pan (although the owner is very friendly and happy to help, we just didn't ask)
Review 7:friendly owner and dog good basic facilities good location free wifi owner lent us a charger for the visit after we discovered we brought the wrong one
Review 8:Close to town, quiet clean, and a great location for touring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Saved a lot of money cooking our own meals. Groceries, fuel, and hot tubs only 7 km away in Borgarnes
Review 9:The electricity was turned off at 10am with no warning, even though check-out states 11am. We stayed 2 nights. The Wifi does not work properly at all meaning we could not check our onward travel plans.
Review 10:We stayed (my mom and sister) in a "cottage", which is more cabin than cottage. Our one was not that comfortable as we needed, but we had hot water and fire so we could cook. The overall impression is, that cabin is older and has already welcomed many tourists (or people who just needed to oversleep for night), what you can notice. When it is windy outside, air moves the cab to the sides.
Review 11:This accommodation is pretty close to Borganes, which is great.
Review 12:There was no ventilation or window in the bathroom. There was a stell of ink in the room which could come from the garage next to the rooms.
Review 13:Fair price
Review 14:Wifi signal not very good (we stayed in corner room far from reception).
Review 15:Excellent location just outside Borganes. Practically new room with small but complete kitchenette. Amazing views. Very nice owner. Would recommend to anyone!
Review 16:We had a really nice staying there, The owner was nice and his dogs are so cute and funny!we had everything we needed in our bungalow so I can say it is a great solution for people stopping in Borgarnes
Review 17:Not a lot of room. Yes there are two bedrooms, but no room for bags! The small water tank is a pain when there are four of you. There was only enough hot water for two showers at a time.
Review 18:Location was excellent. In the countryside just outside Borgarnes. The kitchen is fairly well equipped and the wifi was a bonus for our two teenage children.
Review 19:Rooms too small to do any cooking, not even a table and there was only one plate.people walking past your Windows felt odd and uncomfortable although I would imagine the detached chalets would be much better
Review 20:Clean,New and modern, nice beds free WiFi and parking.
Review 21:The hot water container is small for a family, must wait for 15 min. the cottage is too small.
Review 22:the cottage located in a nice location very close to the shopping mall, supermarkets adn restuaratns. The cottage is very functional and very small and 5 people can't take a shower one after the other, since the hot water container is small and you must wait (the owner mention that from the beggining) but its hard to calculate. although we stay 5 people for one night. The owner is really nice person and helpful.
Review 23:Be prepared for a smaller space but our two teenagers were fine with their narrow beds. Our adult bed was also comfy - just not a lot of room to move around. No dishwasher or oven given small space but easy enough to cook meals on gas stove. Rain one morning on metal roof was a bit annoying but we fell back asleep a white noise app helps drown it out.
Review 24:Great view of mountains. Quiet but easy to get to Bogarnes (farmers market at N1 gas station is great as was settlement center). Good price. Very clean. Nice and cozy.
Review 25:The rooms & bed quite cramped with pathetic WiFi connection !
Review 26:The location was superb and the staff quite helpful ! The dog Tara was so cute in fact the highlight of the stay !
Review 27:There was sometimes an unpleasant smell from the washroom pipes.
Review 28:Wonderful rooms with a washroom and well-stocked kitchenette (stove, sink, fridge, pots, dishes, etc.), plus large glass door and window looking out at gorgeous scenery. Minutes from Borganes. Friendly man at reception let us use the laundry facilities in the morning before our check-out.
Review 29:Nothing to complain.
Review 30:Simply great place. Clean, quiet. Professional friendly staff. Very practical equipment in the room for travellers. Beautiful surroundings. Fast running free wi-fi.
Review 31:Only slight niggle is that the room could have done with a kettle. As I said, this was not a problem as they were pans for boiling water.
Review 32:* Loved the location - lovely and Peaceful. * gorgeous views over snow covered mountains. * plenty of parking for our hire car!
Review 33:had telephoned in advance for late check-in but no one answered the phone. However everything was good in the end!
Review 34:Location, self-catering faciliteis Room price
Review 35:It was a bit pokey - because it had so many things, it was hard to move, but it was not a major issue. Wi-fi router was broken.
Review 36:Super nice owner and his cute dogs. Everything what you need inside of the cottage: kitchen well equipped and very clean plus thick curtains included.
Review 37:Permanent problem with internet!!! Promised wifi was not available most of the time.
Review 38:Nice and calm place, well equipped cottage with terrace (we lived in N2). Mountain view.
Review 39:Wifi was available but did not extend to our room.
Review 40:There is an amazing art gallery at this location. The owner gave us a tour and one of her art works actually hung in our room. Owners well versed in world affairs and willing to spend time chatting.
Review 41:Bathroom could use an extractor fan. Rooms not very soundproof.
Review 42:Owner very friendly allowing us to book in early. Good facilities, own bathroom and great wifi.
Review 43:The place was not that clean. The cover of the mattresses were not clean. We could hear the neighbors in the adiacent room snoring (no insulation at all). There is just one window in the room, no window in the bathroom, when you have a shower in the bathroom all the steam does not go away and you sweat a lot. The curtains are too long and if you close them (to avoid other people to look inside your room) the heat coming from the radiator gets stopped. You practically sleep inside a container. In the kitchen you have stuff to eat and cook, but the usual tea and coffee that everybody provides, here are missing. There is no proper sponge to wash the dishes, just a big brush which is not that good.
Review 44:I could cook a nice soup in the small kitchenette.
Review 45:Needs car to get there. (But if you have a car, this is impressive value for money).
Review 46:Simple, neat place. Warm, comfortable room and beds. Modest but well-equipped kitchen. Big window and glass door mean you can have dinner while looking at the stars and northern lights (unless it's cloudy).
Review 47:No wifi in cabins (had router but wasn't even connected properly) tiny beds and rooms, electricity kept tripping and a tiny 50L hot water tank that ran out after 2 short showers in a land of geothermal hot water. Worst accommodation in iceland, especially when still paying a steep price.
Review 48:Location was nice, pretty views
Review 49:Nothing.
Review 50:The owner was helpful and friendly. The room has blackout curtains so the sunlight does not bother you much. The location is away from the road and is therefore peaceful. Conveniently located from Borgarnes. Also the room has a ensuite bathroom and toilet. The room also has a small kitchenette.
Review 51:Lack of ventilation-so if cooking it would be advisable to open the door! Walls are thin so you can hear your neighbours, although luckily ours were not noisy.
Review 52:Basic accommodation with cooking facilities in the room. Although compact, it has everything you need to cook a meal. Represents good value for money. The town of Borgarnes is nearby, and it has a good bakery which came recommended in the leaflet in the room. Beds are comfy and WiFi is good. Host was friendly.
Review 53:We have absolutely nothing of which to complain.
Review 54:The owner was very helpful and friendly. The rooms are in a terrace, and all face towards the mountains with none of the other cabins, etc. in view. Our room was in the middle of the terrace and had a clear view across to the mountains, it was lovely. There were few other people staying while we were there and everything was very quiet and peaceful. The room was a good size, with a small kitchenette that was adequate for two people. There was an extending dining table that we turned to the window to make more space by the bed. The shower-room was good, the bed was very comfortable, everything was very clean and the heating worked very well. The surrounding area is worthy of a few days exploration. Value for money was excellent at this time of year.
Review 55:Kitchen is in the bedroom, so you could not cook food that smells too strong.
Review 56:The dog is friendly and love to play fetch (with a roll of sellotape). Nice and clean room. Cute shower curtain. It was a few kilometre drive from the Borganes town, so you'd better buy food from there before going to the guesthouse.
Review 57:- not that great deal but there was probably no ventilation in our room, after taking shower/boiling water it was necessary to open windows - but as I said - not a big deal
Review 58:+ great place with nice views, + spacious room with private bathroom, + well-equipped kitchen, + comfortable bed
Review 59:Nothing!
Review 60:Friendly and helpful owner, who kindly upgraded us from a two-bed trailer to the 'family suite' (basically a private ground-floor studio annexe to their home, with well-equipped kitchenette and shower room). Great sleeps thanks to underfloor heating, double glazing and blackout blinds. Not sure we could have afforded this room without the upgrade though! Surroundings are peaceful and rugged despite being just off the Ring Road - next to a bridlepath and in agricultural land and backing onto some heathland with wild crowberries, etc. Good views of the mountains across the fjord if the clouds aren't too low. Five minutes' drive from Borgarnes with all amenities including great restaurants (Settlement centre and Eddu Verold). Sweet dog!
Review 61:Drive needs a bit of maintenance, but a minor point.
Review 62:Didnt try too hard. Excellent room and facilities, but respects the travelers' independence. We loved it!
Review 63:the room was too small so the kitchen was practically on top of the beds which made it difficult to cook. an electric ketle would have been nice
Review 64:the location, the owner was helpful, the room was cleen and beds conmfurtable
Review 65:good value for money ie. upgraded from small caravan to 2 twin bedrooms, generous owner offered to use cooking and washing facilities when very late check-in.
Review 66:Nothing to dislike
Review 67:The owner was very friendly and kind to us during our stay, going the extra mile, which makes staying in somewhere like this much better than a generic hotel. We stayed in the suite, which was spotlessly clean, warm and cosy with everything we needed - a small kitchen and bathroom, comfortable bed, and lovely view. The location was close to Borgarnes with its great museums and also allowed us to explore the snaefellnes peninsula in one day by car, even if it was a bit further to drive than if we had based ourselves slightly further north. The farm's dog is also gorgeous!
Review 68:Nothing really - not the most attractive surroundings but nothing to complain about.
Review 69:The room included a small kitchenette, perfectly serviceable for cooking a simple meal; everything was very clean and included everything we needed for a comfortable night.
Review 70:The room was clean and comfortable. The location was a few minutes by car outside of Borgarnes. We were happy to have a refrigerator and the view from the room was beautiful.
Review 71:It was a very windy night which is not unusual in Iceland. This was a mobile home structure and it was much too loud for me to sleep.
Review 72:The views were excellent everywhere you looked. The owner was very helpful.
Review 73:Needed to use GPS coordinates to find this location. Laekjarkot was not signboarded anywhere.
Review 74:Privacy, quiet and scenic
Review 75:Good Check in, clean rooms and well equipped. Good basic accommodation!
Review 76:We tried to call the owner because we were somewhat late, but couldn't reach him...
Review 77:Small but comfortable room with just everything you need
Review 78:Friendly helpful staff.
Review 79:Reception was not manned both times when we stayed there, no hair dryer
Review 80:Nice view, perect for a short stay / journey through
Review 81:No TV- but even that is not a major quibble.
Review 82:Good location Clean rooms Wonderful bathroom The owner was very friendly
Review 83:good wifi, clean room, convenient kitchenette, we had our own entrance to the room... Just what we needed for one night
Review 84:Bit small, no ventilation for cooking/shower, WiFi didnt work in the room.
Review 85:Own cooking facilities. Nice lady.
Review 86:The accommodation is very clean. The location is convenient and not far from the main road. The shower is inside the room!
Review 87:good value accomodation (especially for Iceland), kitchenette, location close to Borgarnes, good wifi
Review 88:itis a mobile home, not a cottage.

Review 108:A kettle in the room would be nice but overall really good.
Review 109:None
Review 110:View. Perfect view.
Review 111:Save shelter in a very stormy time and quiet rest with stunning view.
Review 112:The particle kitchen, the place near Borgarnes, the bakery in Borgarnes, the price
Review 113:Water heater capacity is too small . Has to rush thru the shower.
Review 114:The door wasn't easy to handle.
Review 115:It was good for one night. The kitchen equiptment was quite simple.
Review 116:There was no room to fit in a normal amount of luggage so that spoilt what would otherwise been a good experience.
Review 117:Cleanliness
