Reviews for Norwood Mountain Lodge

Review 1:The hosts are wonderful people, so warm and friendly. We felt so well looked after. The Nepalese food was excellent. There is a lovely comfortable lounge to sit and relax in and if it's cold or wet enough the fire will be lit, creating an immensely cosy setting.

Review 2:Road noise but that died down at night. Not a surprise to as us it's on a busy main road!

Review 3:Friendly owners. They made us a cup of tea when we arrived! Breakfast excellent as was the supper in their Nepalese restaurant. Very comfortable bed. Parked car right outside the door to the room, extremely convenient.

Review 4:The plumbing was a little noisy throughout the night but would not stop us coming back.

Review 5:Friendly welcoming staff. Really comfortable beds and a great breakfast. We will definitely come back.

Review 6:None, it was all good.

Review 7:From the warm welcome by Dolma on arrival, to the attentive service, friendly chats with Tony, comfortable room, and beautiful breakfast the next morning, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Norwood. We already had dinner plans, otherwise we would have tried the Nepalese restaurant on-site. We will definitely come back.

Review 8:The owners were extremely nice and helpful. They prepared for us a warm vegan breakfast and recommended us hiking routes. The common living room had a variety of books to choose from, mostly on Himalaya.

Review 9:creaky floorboards of people going past to other rooms.

Review 10:Staff went over and above what is necessary to be helpful.. Helpful advice all around. Lovely comfortable bed. Good breakfast.

Review 11:We liked everything about "Norwood". Dolma and Tony are excellent hosts, the breakfasts were splendid, the rooms and ensuites were spotless and Blackheath Village/ restaurants etc. only 5 minutes walk away.

Review 12:Nothing

Review 13:Good location and considering it was on the highway almost no traffic noise. Very comfortable room in a lovely old house. The hosts, Tony and Dolma were very welcoming and provided an outstanding breakfast.

Review 14:Tony and Dolma's place is easy to find They are Lovely and friendly and offered plenty of suggestions of where to go other than the obvious. We enjoyed the food, the hospitality and the comfort of the place very much. Will definitely recommend others to visit.

Review 15:Quite old so loud hot water pipes (clanging noises etc) and took quite a while for water to run hot.

Review 16:Well located for major Blue Mountains attractions and lovely staff. Nice location, not noisy despite being on the main road. Offstreet parking.

Review 17:Our room was comfortable, warm and quiet. We appreciated the attentive and friendly hosts, and enjoyed our Nepalese dinner. Breakfast was excellent too.

Review 18:The friendliness and service of the staff. The breakfast was delicious and very generous. We will definitely go back there if the need arises. Didn't even hear the traffic going by.

Review 19:Tony and Dolma were the ultimate hosts. Friendly, generous and super helpful they went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay. Our upgraded room was a delight, so comfortable for a week stay, and the food was excellent. If you happen to visit between Thursday and Sunday make sure you eat in the restaurant!

Review 20:The hotel is on a main road and train line so there was quite a lot of background noise. Didn't stop us getting a good night's sleep.

Review 21:Tony had lots of great tips on hiking and deep local knowledge of walks in the area. The Nepalese restaurant is one of the better local eateries.

Review 22:The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. An older style residence but very clean, comfortable and conveniently located. We didn't have dinner there but if it is anything like the delicious breakfast we would recommend it.

Review 23:*The floor creaked. *It took a while to hot water came out.

Review 24:It's a very cozy and comfortable old building. Staff are very friendly and have very homely hospitality :)

Review 25:Aware of the noise from other occupants next to our bedroom - lack of stronger insulation maybe and of Great Western Highway traffic noise in the garden area.

Review 26:The warm and generous welcome of our hosts throughout our 2 nights' stay. The location in the heart of the Blue Mountains. The generous breakfast and wholesome and flavoursome Nepalese dining.

Review 27:W.onderful,friendly owners.Clean and comfortable accomodation. The on site Nepalese restaurant provides excellent food and wine at extemely good value. The climate of Norwood was summed up as we left by Tony and Dolma making sure they both farewelled us.We will return.

Review 28:The faint sound of the train thundering past in the middle of the night, but not a deal breaker.

Review 29:The warm friendly welcome from Tony and Dolma. Such attentive hosts without being intrusive. The Nepalese food at Base Camp cafe is a must!

Review 30:The hosts are great people. Tony is very informative about hiking trails and Dolma is very nice and a great cook (love the goat). The breakfast is excellent. The B&B is within minutes of the Grand Canyon track.

Review 31:friendly welcome and comfortable accommodation. The cooked breakfast was amazing you could order anything! Complimentary sherry in the lounge with Dolma was a nice touch.

Review 32:A nice and cosy cottage, the owners Tony and Dolma were very warm and friendly, the room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast and the Nepalese dinner were delicious, and the location was good.

Review 33:Room was a bit on the cold side but numerous blankets available.

Review 34:Great location in the Blue Mountains. Very close to the Canyon hiking and Pulpit Rock. The breakfast served in the morning was fantastic. Hosts very helpful in suggested hiking trails. Free parking

Review 35:Friendly,obliging service.Comfortable accommodation.Very good breakfast. The nepalese food in the restaurant is excellent ..Strongly recommend the goat curry.

Review 36:Heating for all bedrooms is by one master-control in corridor - our group enjoy cool even in winter, so we reduced the temperature. Hot water may take time to reach the shower but is wonderfully hot !

Review 37:Tony & Dolma are responsive hardworking hosts. We six booked 5 Queens & 1 Double (of the 7?) rooms, chatted infront of hot logfire in huge oldstyle armchairs & sofa of the lounge reserved for hotel guests, walked 5 metres to T&D's Nepali restaurant for a delicious dinner, returned to lounge - perfect. Large, beautifully cooked breakfast.

Review 38:I did mention prior to arrival that we were visiting Jenolan Caves. It would have been great to know that the owners were happy to provide passes to the caves which would have given us a 50% discount. Otherwise everything was good.

Review 39:The service was fantastic - owners were very helpful. Breakfast was really good.

Review 40:I had requested a twin room but the owners never got the request - luckily I called them a few days before my visit to check and they were able to re-arrange the rooms accordingly.

Review 41:Clean friendly helpful and great food

Review 42:Tony and Dolma are fantastic hosts and their Nepalese restaurant in the lodge is delicious. They also know a lot about the Blue Mountains and nearby trails and helped us plan a fantastic walk nearby. We would have loved to stay longer and will be back if we ever have the chance!

Review 43:Delightful hosts. Extremely friendly atmosphere in a gorgeous heritage homestead that is now a historic bed and breakfast/pensione/boutique hotel style accommodation. This is thoroughly and unreservedly recommended. Some people may have an issue with the lodge's proximity to the main highway. We didn't as were out the back facing a beautiful winter garden.

Review 44:Friendly helpful staff. Great breakfast. Welcomed us with afternoon tea in cosy lounge area. Really enjoyed our evening meal at the Norwood Mountain Lodge.

Review 45:I had a lovely 1 night stay at Norwood with friend. Our hosts Tony and Dolma were very welcoming and obliging with any of our requests. They were also very engaged with their guests but in a non-intrusive way. On Saturday evening, we enjoyed some bubbles and canapes by the fire (which we were able to bring in from the local shops) before having a lovely meal at the onsite restaurant which serves Nepalese food cooked by the lovely Dolma. Whilst only a small restaurant (the night we were there, I guess there were about 20 guests), Dolma managed to prepare delicious meals for everyone and all the time with a smile. Breakfast is also provided as part of your room rate. And whilst we only got in some cereal and toast (as we accidentally slept in), I could see from the happy smiles of the other guests that we missed out on a yummy home cooked full breakkie. Norwood is located on the highway, however we didn't really have a worry with any road noise at night - the traffic invariable dies down at night anyway. It is only a 2 min walk to the main street of Blackheath and 5 mins to the train station - perfect for those without a car. Blackheath is a perfect base for exploring the wonders of the Blue Mountains. And Norwood is the perfect little retreat at a very reasonable price. Our room was very comfortable and clean and good size for two people. The bathrobes and toiletries were a nice touch too. There was also free wifi on site which was a bonus. I would definitely stay again and will happily recommend to others (as it was recommended to me by a friend). Thank you Tony and Dolma for helping to make our weekend a very happy one! Katie and Lisa :)

Review 46:No negatives. Room was a bit small if you have a lot of stuff but very minor and outweighed by so many positives

Review 47:Lovely friendly couple running Norwood Lodge. Cosy and warm, great autherntic nepalese cusine. Will stay here again no problem!

Review 48:No electric blankets! No biscuits in our room with the tea making facilities. Aircon was noisy and our room a little cool. Bathroom was very cool. Shower not enjoyable with water saver.

Review 49:Managers were very friendly and helpful. Comfortable and homely feeling. Convenient location. Affordable. Great value full cooked breakfast included. Cosy and comfortable reading room.

Review 50:Lovely country feel cottage with everything you need for a short stay. Room was very clean and warm. Owners were great and always greeted you by name!

Review 51:The only bad experience was that I had to leave without trying out the menu.

Review 52:I loved the entire experience From the moment I was greeted at the door, like an old friend to the moment I left The service was AAA, the breakfast I could not have cooked better myself with the staff chatty but not over bearing. Very helpful with local knowledge. The accommodation was perfect for those cold winters nights and reading by the fire a delight. A perfect getaway with very reasonable price. Well done to all concerned, I will definitely be returning if ever I am down that way again.

Review 53:We loved the atmosphere and the lovely couple who manage the Norwood. The fact that they had a dinner option which was amazing homemade Nepalese food then a full-on English breakfast in the morning was like going on a jouney to Mt.Everest and then back to base camp in Nepal for breakfast.

Review 54:Thin walls so other rooms could be clearly heard on occasion.

Review 55:Great location, 2 minutes walk from Blackheath train station. Amazing Nepalese restaurant! I would travel over an hour from my home in Penrith to eat there.

Review 56:Nothing!

Review 57:Myself and 2 girlfriends booked a last minute trip to the BM's and we're delighted with our choice. Tony and his wife have a lovely home. It was very relaxed, breakfast an dinner were fab and we loved that we could sup a bottle of red wine in front of the fire on a cold Saturday afternoon! Tony also drove us to starting point of the Grand Canyon walk!

Review 58:Tony and Dorma made us feel so welcome in their lovely old home. It was cosy and warm by the fireplace, and had central heating in the comfortable bedrooms. They went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable with suggestions on what to do, provided a delicious cooked breakfast each morning and we also enjoyed an authentic Nepalese dinner on the onsite restaurant at night.

Review 59:Initially the cold room until staff agreed for us to have a heater after a somewhat heated discussion. A little rude suggesting we go to other accommodation down the road if we didn't like it!!

Review 60:Convenience and the breakfast was wholesome Nice old building

Review 61:Domla and Tony were extremely nice and helpful. All their advice, about the bushwalks of choice, what do do depending on weather etc, proved excellent. The authentic Nepalese cuisine for dinner is rare treat.

Review 62:Very nice and pleasant stay, feeling like being in home. The house owner and his assistant are very helpful. We got personal attitude and good advices on what to see in Blue Mountains.

Review 63:From the moment we arrived, we felt welcome and spoilt. It was very cold outside, but nice and warm inside thanks to the beautiful log fire in the lounge. We were offered port in front of the fire to warm us up before dinner. Dinner was very nice, tasty and very reasonably priced. A must do! Breakfast was great as well. FRESH fruit salad, cereals, yoghurt and a cooked brekkie. They even had gluten free toast... And proper coffee ;) Oh, and you leave with a huge hug from the tiny Dolma - to quote Tony: 'If you can't reach her, pick her up'

Review 64:We found the whole experience excellent. Host and hostess couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Nepalese food was new to us and we really loved it. Would definitely go back.

Review 65:Would like to have the fire longer for the ambience. The lounge was comfortably warm though. So not really an issue with the temperature

Review 66:Friendly staff and clean room

Review 67:The hosts made us extremely welcoming and very helpful in their advice on walking and where to eat. The sitting room had a roaring fire each afternoon in which to relax into the evening. Blackheath is a wonderful location for some stunning walks.

Review 68:Very friendly, helpful and welcoming hosts that couldn`t do enough for us to make our stay enjoyable. Thanks you Tony and Dalma. Sue loved Tony`s poached eggs and Dalma`s samosa.

Review 69:We thoroughly enjoyed our night at Norwood - comfortable, clean and warm accommodation. Our evening meal of Nepalese food in the on site restaurant was a tasty suprise.

Review 70:The only negative was we were a little warm during the night as the heating was ducted through the rooms & we couldn't turn it down. This is a tiny issue though, we were othwise very comfortable.

Review 71:Everything was so spotlessly clean & the bed was very comfortable. We loved the ambiance - we would rather stay here than a huge hotel. Staff were so accomodating & friendly. Breakfast was delicious.

Review 72:Since it was a last minute booking by me, and they only had one room available, I took it as it was. iI was small and the twin beds were narrow and uncomfortable. I'd be happy to stay there again, but would book well ahead and into one of the larger rooms available

Review 73:The staff particularly...warm, obliging and present The food...delicious Nepalese cuisine, plenty of it and served with cordiality and grace The historic building was clean, well presented and welcoming

Review 74:If I was to be picky in our room we couldn't get the wifi, however their is a lounge where it is available so not really a negative

Review 75:The owners couldn't be friendlier or more helpful, with everything from walks and places to visit, to accommodating you for last minute evening meal. Also the breakfast, it couldn't have been of a higher quality or a better variety. Thank you both so much you helped to make our one night stay very memorable

Review 76:Tony and Dolma were exceptionally welcoming and friendly. We had great breakfasts and Tony gave us good advice for walks and places to eat. The room was clean and comfortable.

Review 77:Blackheath is great, chilled out, relaxing place. Tony and Dolma are excellent hosts. The Nepalese food Dolma made in the evening was amazing and thanks to Tony for giving us a lift to the climbing areas!

Review 78:Tony and the aunt are very nice. they did a good breakfast. The rooms are very clean and are equipped well. Looking forward to go they in the nearly future.

Review 79:Excellent personal attention from the hosts Tony and Dolma. They had good advice/knowledge on local area, very helpful. With their Nepalise background excellent Nepal food was available Thursday-Sunday.

Review 80:Probably just nitpicking. I would have been happier if there had been a comfy lounge chair in the room from which to comfortably watch TV. However I realise the room is too small for this, and there is a shared lounge.

Review 81:Hosts Tony and Dolma were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts and meal we had at Norwood were all excellent.

Review 82:After 6 nights in the Sydney Shangri-la we were looking for a straight forward place to stay of our weekend in the maountains. Many other places looked well past their best. Norwood lived up to all the other positive reviews - very clean and extremly well presented & maintained and owned by a family that really understand how to delight their guests

Review 83:Tony and Dolma as very nice and helpful for our 3 days trip in Blue Mountain. Very good staying experience. Dinner and breakfast are superb. Definitely will be back again.

Review 84:We were made to feel very welcome by Tony and Dolma, who provided a cup of tea after we'd settled in. Norwood is a delightful place with a feeling of peace, serenity and warmth. We will be back.

Review 85:The hosts Tony and Dolma were absolutely terrific. The accommodation spotless and the meals (breakfast and dinner) were wonderful. Absolutely brilliant stay.

Review 86:Although our room was small we had all we needed but not much choice of eating places within walking distance Monday to Wednesday nights.

Review 87:Easy parking, charming and helpful hosts, very tasty Nepalese food from Dolma and an ideal resting place for us in the middle of the Blue Mountains.

Review 88:Dolma and Tony are great hosts and offered us many useful tips on hiking in Blue Mountains. Their lodge is clean and comfortable. It's also conveniently located right outside of Blackheath Station. We will surely stay there again when visiting BM!

Review 89:Our chef having to go to Nepal we so love your food

Review 90:Staff were so accommodating & friendly nothing was a problem, & the loveliest coffee by our young waiter

Review 91:The rooms are small and the walls are thin. There is no table setting just a window seat. The bed, the bed linen and pillows are not of a high quality so I had an uncomfortable night. There is quite a lot of noise from the highway and the railway track so if you are a light sleeper this could be a problem. We stayed on a Saturday night because we were attending a function in the town but I thought that the tariff was high for this standard of accommodation.

Review 92:This is a family run business who work hard and meet you with a smile. They are happy to help out with any guest needs. The location is good as it is within good walking distance from the town centre of Blackheath. If the weather is good you can sit in the garden as there are plenty of garden settings. The breakfast which is included in the tariff is quite hearty but not a lot of selection.

Review 93:The atmosphere is romantic, first class B&B, the staff is unbelievably friendly and professional... The restaurant was superB. Plus It's a quiet location.

Review 94:The owners are very welcoming and take good care of you. The location is very good to get away from the mass tourists that visit the ble mountains but you are still close to some fantastic viewpoints in Blackheat that are as gourgeus as the ones in Katoomba

Review 95:Tony and Dolma are very friendly and were exceptionally helpful especially in recommending activities in the Blue Mountains area. They are a very interesting couple and they really made us feel at home. Breakfast was more than adequate and the meal we had in the restaurant reminded us of meals we had eaten in Dolma's home country Nepal. The Lodge was spotless and very comfortable. We would go our of our way to stay at Norwood Lodge again. Highly recommended.

Review 96:Friendly welcome, newly renovated rooms, comfy beds, relatively quiet despite on the main road. Nice common guest area. Great breakfast with egg, mushrooms and bacon. We preferred this place over a much more expensive one in Katoomba.

Review 97:Nothing bad to say.

Review 98:- Friendly staff - Great hiking advice - Lovely cooked breakfast and coffee refills (which I needed!) - Convenient location metres from Blackheath centre. - 10 minutes from Katoomba - Room was clean and comfortable. - Street access to room was convenient late at night. If you're going to Blackheath then stay here. We Will visit and stay here again.

Review 99:I thought that there could have been more information provided for guests about what they could do in the area. For example, a train timetable, a connection with a local travel company or companies that takes people out on day tours and then the service of offering to make these bookings.

Review 100:I liked the welcome from the managers of the staff when I arrived. The food and the facilities were great.

Review 101:The room was a bit small but adequate.

Review 102:We had a room at the back which was very quiet despite the lodge being on the highway. The Nepalese food in the restaurant on site was very good. Our hosts were very helpful in providing information about places to visit. We travelled in November, a nice time of the year, not too hot.

Review 103:Nothing not to like

Review 104:Made to feel very welcome by Tony and Dol. Cooked breakfast was great and evening meal in the restaurant very nice. Nothing was too much trouble which made it a very pleasant stay. Would stay again without hesitation.

Review 105:one of our work party became ill (that is no fault of Norwood) but she was required to vacate her room before the checkout time while she awaited transport home. This was duer to plans the manager had made for his day and I failed to see how letting her stay in her room would have brought his day undone.

Review 106:This is an older facility, but very well kept up. Toni, Dolna, and their son provide a very warm and comfortable environment. It even seems to attract guests that are relaxed and friendly.

Review 107:Highway noise noticeable at times.

Review 108:Made very welcome by host, given a tour of building, in house details and invited to utilise their service and local knowledge.
