Reviews for The Maritime

Review 1:No such thing!

Review 2:It was my husbands birthday..... I had previously checked about an upgrade when making the booking..... none of our party were prepared for the rooms were got..... so beautiful, so elegant! My husband was so delighted :) It made his birthday that bit more special..... thanks!

Review 3:A bit of confusion finding rooms as we had to change lifts after first floor.

Review 4:A very comfortable and friendly hotel. Food and drink excellent and reasonable.

Review 5:Very disappointed with booking .com. We had to leave 2 nights earlier due to family problems, the hotel was willing to reduce the two nights as we gave plenty of notice and to booking .com,not even a reply to my email,as we booked with booking .com the hotel could do noting,so full payment was taken.

Review 6:The layout of the hotel is confusing, having two lifts connecting separate blocks and having to cross over from car park, treatment rooms and leisure centre. One of the wardrobe doors in the bedroom was too close to the door and could not be opened properly. Lack of drawers for clothes, underwear etc., only shelves in wardrobe and not enough lighting in shelving area. The set down area seems to be used as a parking area, should be kept clear for people checking in, especially in bad weather as it was when we arrived.

Review 7:The staff were very helpful and friendly. The bedroom was very comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was top class with a different special each morning. Bar food was ok but staff were a bit disorganised. Massage therapists were excellent, would definitely recommend them.

Review 8:Steak dinner in Ocean restaurant was overpriced for the quality of the meat

Review 9:Excellent hotel. Great Value for money. Modern decor. Excellent swimming pool facilities. Staff very friendly. Live music in bar on Saturday nights.

Review 10:All was fantastic no complaints

Review 11:We had a lovely time we where travling around lreland and through booking Com . we came across the lovely little place bantry bay and the brilliant hotel maritime . It Was a a boutique and a very comfortable hotel we will be back.

Review 12:The only thing that was a problem was some discoloured scrambled egg for breakfast. When I tried to send it back, the waitress didn't deal with it very well, but one of the more mature Irish waitresses came forward and sorted it out.

Review 13:Staff were helpful and friendly. We have stayed many times in Bantry before, but the first time we've stayed at the Maritime. Being so near the town, it was really handy for the restaurants and the cinema.

Review 14:Lovely stay , lovely room, helpful staff. Food was great. John had mussels for first time in 25 years said they were amazing and steak the best he had ever had. .

Review 15:One minus would be the breakfast on the Sunday. Because of a wedding on the Saturday, there was a high number of guests having breakfast in the restaurant and the waiting time was 30mins approx. This is the first time I've seen this in a hotel. Other than that, we had a lovely stay!

Review 16:Lovely comfortable and spacious room. The leisure centre was fantastic also! We had a very relaxing stay.

Review 17:The bar food was dreadful and service poor the restaurant is being madeover so builders noise and dustthere is no atmosphere in bar or reception very bleak

Review 18:The bed was comfortable and there was a nice view from the window

Review 19:Ordered latte in the bar which we found to be undrinkable, it was replaced with tea when requested, just wanted to make you aware please

Review 20:Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff

Review 21:High chairs in bar were not good, 10mth old baby kept falling out as it was very slanty. The room was too expensive for what we got. The walls and door frames need painting. The bed was a tiny double and the mattress was old. The bed cover felt quite bally. There was a big ball of hair in the adjoining sitting room and stains on the sofa.

Review 22:Staff were excellent. I liked the fact we could get two rooms in one. Pool area was good too. Location was fantastic. View from room was beautiful. Food was lovely.

Review 23:Location great but ruined the the board hording across the road ! Blocking the beautiful view to harbour ! Didn't make sense !

Review 24:Liked room, breakfast great

Review 25:The breakfast area is quite small but luckily it wasn't too busy when we were there. The bedroom was small and our window didn't close properly so it was a little noisy.

Review 26:The hotel is well decorated. I liked the bar area. The food was tasty and reasonable. The pool area was lovely. It was good value for money.

Review 27:Gerry that was working in the bar sat night did not want to be there and didn't mind tell you that so rude he just wanted every one to leave so he could go to bed . That was the only let down over the weekend

Review 28:Staff were great hotel very clean staff couldn't do enough for you

Review 29:Only thing is the rooms are quite dark but in all very good hotel

Review 30:Food in bar is lovely and so reasonable !! Staff are very nice and fair play to the two lads on Sunday night who stayed serving us and keeping us entertained in the residents bar until all hours ! Great bunch

Review 31:The hotel is very clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly real chatty and lots of local information. It was a busy weekend but breakfast was well done and hot and plenty of choice. Short walk to the pubs and restaurants in Bantry and if you have kids it is right beside the local cinema.

Review 32:First impression of inside hotel dark and gloomy. a holding or recall phone system would help reception staff to deal with registering visitors in a more efficient manner or more reception staff on duty.

Review 33:Good food and service in restaurant.

Review 34:This is my third time staying at the Maritime. First my daughter won a 2 night stay in the Pent House suite courtesy of Radio Kerry. 2nd time we booked the family suite for a break away. 3rd time was in view of a day surgical procedure in Bantry General Hospital. On each occasion staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms were immaculately clean and comfortable. Food in the bar and for breakfast was also excellent. I look forward to staying in the Maritime again.

Review 35:The heating in the room didn't work but we were given portable heaters that work great and was available straight away the staff where a great help

Review 36:Very friendly staff excellent food and the room was big and comfortable

Review 37:Felt very welcomed indeed. Stephen would have to be the nicest host we have ever had. Have lots of information about the history of the house which we loved. The staff serving breakfast were lovely and most welcoming.

Review 38:The diner set menu €25 wasn't great. But I suppose you get what you pay for.

Review 39:Staff were so amazing doing everything possible to help us have a nice dinner with an 8 month old. Leisure staff were great too going out of their way to help. They went above and beyond. They gave us a great room, huge. With a travel cot. Next to the stairs and at the end of the building so the closest room to us was only joining on one side and that was our bathroom. Which meant when our baby cried we didn't feel we were disturbing anyone. Very thoughtful of them.

Review 40:It was the best hotel we had stayed in on all our trip to Ireland, the room was large, the view of the harbour from the opening French window was lovely. Bathroom with separate shower from the bath, so much easier than struggling to get in and out of a bath one. Love to go back one day.

Review 41:That we only stayed one night.

Review 42:Beautiful hotel, amazing staff, rooms were lovely. Ease of parking, the location, the food, and the drink all A1; could not fault the place.

Review 43:Bed could be bigger, directions not clear in corridors. Parking good but tricky !! Wardrobe small with tea making facility in the wardrobe!!

Review 44:location very good. Nice rooms.Nice food and Piano in the restaurant..

Review 45:I mdidn't like the location. The car park is very confusing and the layout of the hotel is not very nice. Very long corridors a bit spooky actually and different lifts to differetn colour coded areas of the hotel. Access to the car park is not very convenient and I thought that the staff were alright.......Not particularly helpful and when there was an error with our booking, they weren't particuarly helpful about it and it cost us é20 more than we had originally agreed to pay. It was teh size, decor and layout and location of the hotel and the general atmosphere that I disliked the most. After nine days touring, in small and large hotels this was our least favourite!

Review 46:The l

Review 47:It may have been the room i was given but I noticed in the morning that the bed was just a little uncomfortable. I have stayed before and never had that issue.

Review 48:Staff are very friendly and efficient. They organised a meeting room for me with very little notice and it was set up very nicely. The hotel is well laid out and clean and offers good value for money.

Review 49:it felt a bit like going through a maze getting from reception to 4th floor each time we came and went from the room.

Review 50:nice bar, staff were great, the atmosphere in the bar for the rugby game was great! great selection for breakfast and we were well looked after by the staff. breakfast does get busy so get up early if your impatient.

Review 51:Food in Bar I had to return my salad as alot of the lettuce was brown, No chunkey chips for my husbands steak meal, but his steak was tasty.

Review 52:On our arrival the receptionists were first class. Nice friendly Irish waitress in Bar.

Review 53:Entrance to the car park is problematic if one is arriving from the west.

Review 54:The view from our room, the welcoming staff, the comfort of the room , especially the bed. Excellent value.

Review 55:Parking arrangements. Having to exit the lift to get another to reach Reception. Dining room was dark.

Review 56:Friendly staff. Town location. Pleasant bar.

Review 57:The hotel has two sides. In order to get to the pink side you need to change lifts and walk along corridors. The lifts are small and at busy times......also they could do with having their buttons synchronised!

Review 58:Excellent location and view from our second floor room. Excellent staff and good bar food and breakfast.

Review 59:Somewhat tatty public areas parking a little remote and hard to access but staff were helpful about this

Review 60:Location large comfortable bedroom nice view of harbour helpful staff

Review 61:Coach party taking up the restaurant so could not have dinner there before 9 pm.Very noisy at breakfast. If I go there again I will check they have No coach parties staying if they have I wont stay there.

Review 62:Good location private parking nice room good breakfast.

Review 63:Decor although elaborate was far to dark and dreary. Rear of hotel is in virtually darkness up against steep embankment. Noisy plant room to rear. Endless poorly lit long corridors giving horror movie feel. Confusing layout of having to change levels in lift from one section of the hotel to another. No room numbers on doors. Incredibly room numbers on carpet but not informed of same by reception staff. Rooms a bit cramped and on the small side.

Review 64:Breakfast dinning area was excellent with sloping timber beams creating a maritime feel. Food and service was also excellent.

Review 65:Had to queue for breakfast .. never had to do that in any hotel before.. and was down at 09:45, breakfast deadline was 10:30AM

Review 66:Central location, nice pool, nice room.

Review 67:Would have liked air conditioning in room although was offered a change of room, but as a 4 star Hotel it should be available in all rooms.

Review 68:Location, restaurant and bar in hotel, entertainment in bar, both the guitar player and especially the Bantry Community Choir group, comfortable beds and substantial breakfast, hotel parking.

Review 69:Although clean some of the furnishings were worn and needed revamped. The layout of the hotel was somewhat confusing and certainly not suitable for someone less mobile.

Review 70:Lovely location overlooking the harbour with easy access to the town and central to many of the attractions in the West Cork area

Review 71:We booked a double room but got 2 single beds pushed together with 2 seperate single duvets. The bar food wasn't good either and bar staff not very friendly

Review 72:I generally not very picky but for 150e for one night and it advertised 4 star it was far from it. It is only a 3 star hotel. 4 star = the Radisson.

Review 73:Location excellent for going out at night. Staff very friendly and courteous. Only had breakfast it was ok. not 4 star as advertised.

Review 74:Thoroughly enjoyed our stay but would only note the furniture in the reception/lobby and restaurant chairs as worn as it is a material that is not hard wearing for a hotel.

Review 75:We are a recently engaged couple and the Maritime left us a lovely card congratulating us as well as chocolate strawberries. They gave us a sea view room and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Food in bar is highly recommended. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Bantry is a great base for travelling around West Cork if you have your own transport.

Review 76:WiFi could have been stronger, worked for my Sky Sports but girlfriend's tablet had issues with drop out.

Review 77:Food was very good value in both the restaurant and bar. Food in restaurant particularly impressive. Staff very good. Decor very impressive.

Review 78:Super! However when checking in we weren't told we had a disability bathroom! Would have preferred standard room but at even if it was only room left it would have been nice to be told about it!

Review 79:Hotel is split in two with a walkway on floor one or the mezzanine. Difficult to negotiate. Access to underground car park was difficult.

Review 80:Located on waterfront

Review 81:Only minor detail. The rooms are quite hot at nite time.

Review 82:Staff were fantastic. Food was lovely in the bar. Hotel nice and modern. Visited bantry house which is right beside the hotel. Fab spot. Views were spectacular.

Review 83:Kid's were disappointed they couldn't use the jacuzzi and saunas!

Review 84:Lovely family room with two bedrooms and a central sitting-room/kitchenette. The breakfast was a high point for the kids especially! And a lovely bar with music each night

Review 85:Actually nothing to comment on ... one of my favourite hotels. Car Park bit tight getting in and out of ... but minor issue

Review 86:Staff excellent, prompt and attentive. Bar Food particularly good and good value. Lovely decor all over. Nice touch having bottle of water in rooms. Rooms very quiet at the back of hotel, lovely views to front. Breakfast very good.

Review 87:Only one issue. Found the men's changing rooms at the pool a little grubby and unclean. Urinals a bit smelly, but pool and spa facilities excellent.

Review 88:Family deluxe room was great for us and our 2 children. Fabulous breakfast. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Really liked the Eco friendly ethos.

Review 89:The room was very spacious and comfortable and a wonderful sea view. Breakfast was excellent with a great variety of food to choose from. What more could one want?

Review 90:My son wanted to swim so I need to stay to watch as requested by staff but there was no where to sit.So afew chairs in by the pool would help parents.

Review 91:Staff were lovely.

Review 92:Staff in breakfast room very friendly and helpful. Underground car park with lift to all floors. Rooms clean and tidy each day on our return to hotel

Review 93:Wifi went down but was dealt with promptly and fixed quickly. Stay was a little on the pricey side for just B&B. Hoarding outside to get into car park looks temporary but took away from the view.

Review 94:Suited all tastes. We were a group of 5 adults (2 old age pensioners) and one 6 year old. Hotel was relaxed, warm and staff were fantastic. Facilities were great.

Review 95:Breakfast started at 8am on Sunday, which is a bit late. A continentalbreakfast was arranged for me though.(wanted to hit the road early forthe Ring of Kerry') The hotel is in two blocks. The first block isentered via reception or the bar. In the second block, it is possibleto wander in off the street via fire doors which are left ajar. Notgreat security, maybe I spend too much time in big cities with highcrime rates.

Review 96:Clean, well appointed room. Balcony with view of the harbour. Nice barPolite staff Free underground parking

Review 97:Charged for ordering two Americanos at breakfast, it is a small detail but was irksome.

Review 98:Lovely clean bathrooms, large comfy beds, sea view air conditioned room, very spacious, lovely pool, excellent location for exploring west Cork.

Review 99:Room ready even though we arrived early. Excellent leisure facilities, lovely breakfast, friendly, helpful staff. Good location for local restauants and shops.

Review 100:A lot of noise at around 7 outside our window from small truck which hotel was using . Slightly overpriced.

Review 101:Beautiful hotel. Rooms were very clean and it was overall a very enjoyable stay.

Review 102:More options for bar food as the same food was on for both days I stayed. Although the food I got was still nicely cooked

Review 103:Stay was brilliant rooms beds were comfortable and clean. Staff were nice and friendly. Enjoyed swimming pool would stay again.

Review 104:not being able to find parking in underground carpark when car visitors stayed overnight.

Review 105:music in evening bar.Lovely sea views from our bedroom window.Good breakfast service with friendly staff and good choice of food.

Review 106:The only small downside is the appearance of the outside of the building. Needs a bit of tlc

Review 107:I must say that I loved my stay here. The facilities were brilliant. The food was excellent and the staff couldn't do enough for you. The hotel was very clean and the pool was most unique and brilliant.

Review 108:Stay too short

Review 109:Just about everything. Location, staff, facilities and the breakfast was to die for. Best experience and I have stayed all over the world. Well dome Maritime

Review 110:Rooms are loveley BUT have a strong smell of stale cigarette smoke in them. Service in Bar and the food could do with some small improving, but it's decent enough.

Review 111:Great location, Modern and nicely decorated and well kept hotel with great views over the harbor. Live music.

Review 112:Bantry was beautiful - our room was at the front of the hotel with a great view of the bay and the boats coming in. Hotel staff were super friendly - everyone, anyone we met in the lift, the girls in the bar on the Friday evening were lovely and helpful. Spa was very nice. Breakfast had plenty of options. Room was modern and clean! Hotel has a library and loads of couches to sit around and look at the view. Great hotel would stay again if in bantry. Location is perfect. Fish Kitchen is a must the guy running the place was very nice. Pubs start at Ma Murphys and work back down the town towards the Maritime.

Review 113:when we arrived into the hotel, we wanted to get some food but restaurant was fully booked , which was very disappointing ,we had a very yound child and really wanted to stay in and avoid waking around. on advise we went to the bar but Please avoid child menu its awful ,if you are staying in the hotel bring your own or go somewhere else !!!

Review 114:Staff was lovely , hotel is very clean and breakfast in the restaurant was amazing

Review 115:bar man with English accent was overly pushy at closing time especially when there seem to be locals still being served.

Review 116:lovely room with beautifull sea view

Review 117:Car park not completed. Breakfast difficult to keep warm while making ones toast. Staying in the front rooms overlooking the sea can be noisy at night due to traffic on the N71

Review 118:Good restaurants in the area. Nice walk by the beach.

Review 119:The location is brilliant. I had such a good sleep the bed was very comfy. Was very clean room and the breakfast was lovely. I will coming back definitely :)

Review 120:We had to order into room for dinner, because the bar was over full due to a wedding the next night. There were not enough tables and seating to have dinner there.

Review 121:When I complained about smoky smell in first room, staff immediately accommodated us in another identical room, without making us feel like we were fussy customers. THanks

Review 122:Pool and fittness area little outdated Sauna with swimming trunks not very hygienic

Review 123:Comfortable rooms and beds Helpfull and friendly staff Good Wi-fi, decent breakfast and parking included Next to Bantry House and within walking distance of the centre Two thumbs up for the lady managing the breakfast area

Review 124:1. We wished the hote would give the option when making the reservation on booking.com to get a room with sea view. Rooms with sea view were fully booked when we arrived. Photos with the sea view were a big selling point when we chose this hotel so it was disappointing to not get one. 2. Bed mattress are very normal. While the king bed was very large2 metres), we were expecting a more comfortable matress and pillows. 3. Cold Breakfast was simple. The buffet had not much choice. Below average of a 4 star hotel

Review 125:Excellent location. Very big and spacious rooms

Review 126:Nothing major but the WiFi connection in our room wasn't great. And at breakfast my sister's bap with her eggs benedict was completely burned but was still served. We didn't say anything at the time, however the server who cleared our table told us she has informed the chef and apologised.

Review 127:We had a family occasion here (mother's 60th Birthday) and 10 of us stayed for a long weekend. The staff we wonderful, very attentive and friendly. Rooms were bright, airy and clean. Breakfast each morning was a mix self service (regular hotel fare) and table service for the daily specials, which were delicious. The leisure centre was nice, but a little drab in comparison to the rest of the hotel. We had the offical birthday dinner in the hotel restaurant and can't say enough about the staff or the food. While there are several nice restaurants in the area, this is also well worth a visit.

Review 128:The hotel was fantastic and the location by the see was great. The Staff were so friendly and helpful Bantry a lovely location for a mini relaxing break

Review 129:Fabulous room with balcony on front of hotel overlooking the bay. All staff we dealt with were very friendly and very helpful. Complementary use of very good leisure facilities including pool, steam room etc. But no tea/coffee making facilities in room

Review 130:Almost all the chairs and setees in the reception and public areas are quite low and difficult for someone with mobility problems to utilise

Review 131:Comfort of the rooms.

Review 132:Good location and welcoming staff particularly as we were able to make a reservation at very short notice (10 minutes) having checked in and out of a neighbouring hotel within 20 minutes!

Review 133:Didnt like all the lifts that were necessary to access room on 4th floor.

Review 134:Staff were very friendly and efficient. Food was very good but dining breakfast bar was difficult to get around as space was restricted.
