Reviews for Borgarnes Bed & Breakfast

Review 1:Only thing I didn't like was the outside lights were very bright all night shining through the curtains.

Review 2:Easy to find, with access to tea & coffee. Shared but very clean bathroom. Good breakfast served with fresh bread, banana bread and home made pancakes.

Review 3:This is a very warm, comfortable and wonderful house. The room is very clean and tidy with very nice private toilet. Breakfast is prepared with heart by the owner of the guesthouse which is very delicious. The owner is very kind and nice to the guests and always hope to help fulfill the needs of the guests. We will come back if we go to Iceland Borgarnes.

Review 4:Very homely place to stay, quirky. The shared bathroom was very modern. The room had a great view of the shore, you could sit by the window and stare at the stars. The owner was very sweet. The breakfast was plentiful with fresh bread rolls and pancakes.

Review 5:When we arrived the owner was not there and we were checked in by someone who gave us our key and said "have a nice time, thanks" before rushing off. That night we were unable to use all the facilities of the B&B because they were being used for a private party (hosted by the person who checked us in) that kept us awake. We were also not given the type of room we booked, presumably this went to a party guest. The owner did partially redeem the situation by knocking a large amount off our bill.

Review 6:A good location in Borgarnes and a friendly owner.

Review 7:Wonderful, wonderful location in Borgarnes. A seriously beautiful B&B right on the water. Very friendly owner/hostess, and a delicious breakfast. Lots of room to move around and make oneself at home. Love this place.

Review 8:We booked the separate apartment cause I was traveling with my in-laws and we prefer to have our own bathroom but it wasn't available cause it was damaged by weather. The lady kindly offered us two rooms, an ensuite and one with shared bathroom which solved the problem, however as a customer I usually expect a call if there's a problem with my booking

Review 9:The owner Inger was really attentive, the rooms were spacious and the food choice for breakfast was the best we had during our trip around iceland

Review 10:Only that we could not stay longer.

Review 11:Room was clean and mattress was very comfortable. Staff was friendly andattentive. Food was great, except the pancakes. They were awesome!!! :)

Review 12:booked bnb 6 months ago. arrived at bnb and owner stated that she had opportunity to book entire place for three days and indicated we could not stay for entire length of booking - only one night and then we had to find another place to stay. no apology, nothing. did not even contact us before arrival date to indicate no full reservation. after very long travel day, this was the greeting. so feel free to book at this bnb - you may or may not have a honored reservation when you arrive.

Review 13:nothing

Review 14:The online information does not indicate that the apartment is *not* at the B&B. It is a couple of blocks away, right on the noisy main thoroughfare through town, with no view. It was tiny, looked rundown, and not particularly clean (for instance, my glass had dirt on it) and there are no privacy curtains from the main street into the living room, which is also the "second bedroom" since there are two couches in there that people can sleep on. The website information really seems misleading, both about location and size.

Review 15:Our hostess tried to help us when we arrived only to find that the apartment we booked was not in the B&B itself. She offered to let us have the last remaining room in the B&B (with two twin beds) for the 3 of us by bringing in a cot. Although we didn't stay at the B&B, it looked very charming, and the breakfast was excellent.

Review 16:I was unaware until I arrived that we were in an apartment 5 minutes walk away and we needed to go back for breakfast in the morning.

Review 17:We loved the breakfasts - the home made pancakes were delicious. I think the secret ingredient was vanilla. We stayed in an apartment away from the guest house. It was roomier than being in the house - we had our own ensuite and kitchen with fridge, cooker. A microwave wood be a good point to have and a corkscrew.

Review 18:The breakfast was almost empty at 9am we couldn't taste the pancakes :(

Review 19:We had an apartment for ourselves ! We were not in the beautiful house but the apartment was really clean and well furnished ! We really enjoyed our time there

Review 20:Thin walled.

Review 21:The house is situated right at the sea. We had a room in the basement which was ok at least if you have the ones facing the sea. Breakfast was great!

Review 22:Wouldn't recommend for more than a couple of nights max because not enough to do in the area

Review 23:Lovely location overlooking estuary in walking distance of superb outdoor swimming pool and running track.

Review 24:t was like a granny's house where you felt yourself at home. Really liked the interior and surroundings. Breakfast took place in the big dining room with the spectacular view. We also enjoyed the shower and the bathrobe. Thank you for this quiet rest!

Review 25:We were moved to one of the self catering apartments which was an unexpected bonus but did mean we were sharing with another couple in very close proximity! Fortunately for us they were great. Breakfast was great with fantastic homemade bread.

Review 26:The view from the house is amazing! The breakfast was also amazing. The shared bathrooms were nice and large and they had labeled shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

Review 27:Great location for hitting many spots on the west coast. The town has a really good restaurant and a lovely coffee/dessert spot and the B&B is right on the coast - perfect for sunsets.

Review 28:there are apartments that a bit far from the main guest house so it's better to check it before.

Review 29:Great staff, clean place and a beautiful view. Very good breakfast.

Review 30:The 2-bedroom apartment is not on the main property shown in the pictures. It is 2 blocks away, and you have to travel to the main building for any service / breakfast. The 2-bedroom apartment is not really 2 bedrooms. It is one bedroom with an extra 2 beds in the living room.

Review 31:Breakfast was delicious.

Review 32:Upon arrival the owner had no record of our reservation. Fortunately space was available.

Review 33:Great location right on the waterfront with a walking trail passing directly between the B&B and the water

Review 34:Blackout curtains on front door window in the apartment would be helpful.

Review 35:Breakfast was the best with a wide variety of delicious things to try. The apartment would be great for a longer stay as the kitchen looked to have necessary utensils and dishes.

Review 36:The rooms downstairs were not as good compared to the ones up. Even the bathrooms had big difference.

Review 37:Top location, with a great view. Very good breakfast given by the attentive owner. The kitchen was huge and we were allowed to cook. One of the best stays in Iceland.

Review 38:The inn itself is very beautiful. It is a 1947 house with antique furnishings and bay views. The grassy backyard has steps down to the beach. The hostess made bread for each breakfast as well as pancakes and the usual skyr, fruit, fish, etc. We ate at tables near a bay window overlooking the bay. The bathroom was shared, but well equipped. The neighborhood was quite and walkable.

Review 39:Shared bathroom was across the hall we had to walk through the reception area. Guests had use of garden which our room overlooked.

Review 40:large room with bay windows looking out to sea.

Review 41:Not much to not like except proximity of rooms and noise of creaky floors and doors closing. But looks like the owner is in the process of doing some remodeling/updates.

Review 42:Warm breakfast everyday and kitchen available for shared use. Loved enjoying breakfast and tea everyday watching the birds and ocean. The hosts made it really feel like a home. We were lucky to have the double room with ensuite bathroom. Charming house with character with true feeling of a b&b.

Review 43:Borgarnes B&B is Perfect!! Cleanliness,Delicious breakfast,a wide room and You can see the sea.It is a very very recommended.I will stay here next time!!

Review 44:- Very nice guesthouse owned by a sweet lady who treated her guests with a homemade cakes on arrival, - Breakfast is home cooked and made of fresh local produce. - Interesting charming house is full of old details and history, - Plenty of parking around.

Review 45:A cute little apartment with a cosy interior. Facilities are top notch and the owner is a sweet lady whom fixed us a great breakfast (includeded). All in all, felt like I was at home.

Review 46:comfortable room, great shared kitchen/living room, clean and very comfortable bathroom (just one-could be a problem in high season), very friendly owner

Review 47:The proprietor had no record of our reservation through booking.com, so we paid more than we expected to.

Review 48:Everything was pleasant and quiet. The breakfast was very good. We were also lucky and saw the Northern Lights the night we were there.

Review 49:peaceful location beautiful scenery access to saga museum and settlement museum excellent breakfast wonderfully hot shower beautiful renovation of kitchen and bathroom

Review 50:Very small room only with one chair. Very weak WiFi signal

Review 51:Very nice and authentic atmosphere.Nice, but very small double room with the private bathroom. The bathroom itself big and equipped with a big mirror and hair dryer.Good breakfast

Review 52:Too many people to share the bathroom. Unfortunately, like many places in Iceland, the toilet is in the bathroom, not separate. There are 3 parking spots in the B&B grounds and latecomers park in the street.

Review 53:Our room was modern and had a nice view over the water. The B&B is a mixture of modern in the bedrooms and traditional in the dining area. Breakfast was good. We self-catered and used the microwave.

Review 54:Wifi did not work at all in room nor did tv. It was advertised on booking.com that wifi was available everywhere and was not.

Review 55:Bed was extremely comfortable and breakfast was readily available and with multiple options. Bathroom looks to be recently updated.

Review 56:We didn't know quite what to expect but were given a warm and friendly welcome. We had a large, spotlessly clean room with a very well appointed shared bathroom across the hall. The self service breakfast was excellent. Tea making and kitchen facilities available. Both bedroom and dining room had lovely sea views. Definitely good value for money.

Review 57:Wi-fi signal was not strong enough. It would be a good idea to have a mop in a bathroom.

Review 58:It's nice, clean and calm. We arrived later than the standard check-in time but the it was no problem, they waited for us.

Review 59:Could not get the wi-fi to connect

Review 60:Easy to find, early check in, nice room good bathroom, great kitchen and tea making facilities. Good location for a stroll around the harbour.

Review 61:Nothing to report.

Review 62:Breakfast was really good, the best that we had in Iceland during our road trip visit. Bathrobes provided which was very handy considering it was shared bathroom accommodation. The view from the bedroom of the sea and landscape was nice.

Review 63:Shared bathroom. It got a little crowded with about 4 rooms per bathroom.

Review 64:Kitchen, bathroom and bedroom were clean and nice. Bathroom was very nice and newly renovated. Breakfast was good.

Review 65:WiFi was temperamental

Review 66:Beautiful old house Excwllwnt kitchen available for guests to use Delicious breakfast Comfortable stay Close to the Settlement Museum (worth a visit)

Review 67:The wi-fi did not arrive to our room but we could connect in the breakfast-living room

Review 68:The owner is a woman with a lot of taste. Very good breakfast in a very nice room with spledid views of the bay

Review 69:We were at the end of our trip and needed to repack some things. Our room was very large, which made life easier. Room looked out onto the water and was very quiet.

Review 70:Arrived at the guesthouse and found that it was overbooked. We ended up staying at another b&b that the owner arranged for us (breakfast next morning would still be at the original place). The accommodations at the second place was far from satisfactory.

Review 71:When the owner found out that we were not happy with our stay at the replacement b&b, she immediately reduced the charge for the night by an amount that I thought was quite fair. Those unpleasant memories were further erased by the delicious breakfast that she served - lots of food choices including a variety of fresh bread.

Review 72:Nothing to dislike.

Review 73:This was an altogether lovely place to stay. The people who own it are charming and friendly and made us feel very welcome. Our room was large with a bay window looking over the sea, a sofa and table and chairs. We were told we could use the kitchen if we wanted. The whole house is beautiful with very attractive decor and we felt very comfortable there. Would highly recommend.

Review 74:To highlight one thing among many positive, the breakfast: freshly baked bread very good selection of everything one could wish for, including smoked salmon. They are all lucky, the people getting booked here.

Review 75:We traveled the whole route 1 circle and this was by far the best B&B we stayed at. The owner was very friendly. The house is beautiful and in a great location. We would highly recommend it.
