Reviews for Dunsborough Central Motel
Review 1:Pool wasn't open long enough and limited cooking facilities available in the room.
Review 2:The location was perfect, close to shops, cafes, restaurants and the beach! The pool and spa were great and the BBQ was handy too.
Review 3:Could of used a fan in the room.
Review 4:Location was fantastic, walking distance to cafe's, restaurants, shops, beach etc. Pool and spa were great for our son.
Review 5:Very old and outdated motel - it was like stepping back into the 80s. Old decor, there's an old clock/radio built into the bed side table, a shower curtain, etc. For the price I'd expect a bit better quality than this. Especially in Margaret River. There is a big Mozzie problem in the room - I killed 10 in the space of 10 mins. Water was turned off one morning for work to be done. This was annoying as I couldn't shower or get ready to go out. The place just had an old, dirty feel to it.
Review 6:Good location in the centre of town.
Review 7:Rodent droppings under the bed, no electricity at night, no water in the morning. No torches or matches, no apologies or explaination. No staff reachable.
Review 8:Central location
Review 9:Shower stall is small and cramped and the rooms very dark...very small curtained window.
Review 10:Housekeeping staff were excellent and made sure we had sufficient towels as we were there over a public holiday. Pool and spa were great.
Review 11:On the 2nd day our bathroom was not restocked with new towels, bath mat or toiletries. I could have asked for it but we had enough towels and toiletries to manage.
Review 12:Hotel was in walking distance to the beach and shops. The room was larger than expected and had kitchen facilities which reduced the cost of buying meals.
Review 13:Its was great value for money, neat, clean and people were friendly. The beach was walking distance away but we loved the pool and spa at the motel. And loved how the motel is situated in the Dunsborough City centre where everything like shops, chemist, pub are walking distance.
Review 14:Didn't like the 2 mosquitos we killed in the room. But we figure they would be hard to control.
Review 15:We were there one night and only for 17 hours as we had a wedding. We were allowed to book in a bit earlier so we could have a short nap before the wedding. The markets were on next door which were great. Shops over the road very convenient.
Review 16:From room to car park was a little awkward with luggage.
Review 17:Nice to have a lounge to relax in , and the spa was excellent after a tough day on the golf course.
Review 18:Baby crying in the room next door and my wife lost her wedding ring but this had nothing to do with the room.
Review 19:Location very central. 1 min to the shops and hotel. Lovely pool.
Review 20:The nice hot spa and the closeness to shops across the road and the water (ocean) not too far too !! The room was very clean and the beds were comfy...
Review 21:VERY NOISY! Walls are very thin & the couple next door were arguing into the early morning! We could hear EVERYTHING! Plant room for water was over our room (35) & every time anyone turned on shower or flushed the toilet in the block it was LOUD! other residents partied late into the night & kids were screaming in the pool from 8:00 am the next morning! All this after we requested a quiet room!
Review 22:Location & convenience in Dunsborough.
Review 23:Location.
Review 24:Walls to rooms , no barrier to sound even someone just talking next door. We had noisey young couple one night, that's wasn't nice for more than an hour. Place is tired and needs maintenance and upgrade to some furnishings.
Review 25:Bad shower water pressure. We got in late so didn't get a chance to check out e pool & hot tub. Our first time staying in motels so was a little upset tt reception is not manned aft 7pm til e next morn. Couldn't request for more towels etc. No hand towels! We also didn't feel very safe as unlike hotels where reception is on duty 24/7, here e perimeters r completely opened n anyone at all can come in n out of e property. Lock yr door n stick a chair under e knob like u see in movies ?
Review 26:Check in n check out is a breeze! No need for passports or credit card deposit. U get yr key n pay when u leave. Rm was clean n big w dining table, chairs, n kitchenette, complete w utensils, cutlery n dish soap. Beds were comfy but no extra pillows. Location is e best thing abt this motel. Easy walking distance to supermkts, fantastic eateries n delightful shops all round. Dunsborough town centre was our fav, even more than Margaret River town ctr. Busselton (esp e jetty) is a complete waste of time. Park yrself at Dunsborough n go Eagle Bay instead. Recept recommended Art e Zen down e rd for bfast n we had e big bfast. Yummy!! The highly recommended Piari & Co was closed when we were there ? check opening hrs before u make yr way there. A lot of cafés r closed on Mon/Tues. Instead we chanced upon a fantastic Chinese restaurant jus next to e Gas stn n ordered to take away to enjoy in our own rm (cheaper too N they stay open longer!!) Found e cutest cheap vintage clothing store (Gold Fever Vintage) across e road fr Coles n bought a beautiful dress for $35.
Review 27:Extras. Wifi charges were punitively high, which is ridiculous now when even campgrounds and pubs generally have free wifi. You got the feeling that everything that could be charged for would be charged for (eg message over sink advising of charges if dishes were not washed) which seemed over the top given rack rates are already high.
Review 28:Great location, comfortable clean rooms
Review 29:The quality and finish was very average.
Review 30:The location is great. The use of recycled materials throughout the build is noticeable and great to see although poor workmanship leaving an unclean finish.
Review 31:They could freshen up the rooms with some up to date bed linen.
Review 32:Location was the best! It was clean, staff were friendly and there was a pool, spa, laundry facilities and more.
Review 33:We were only able to spent one night as we had commitments at the Perth bike Show ((.
Review 34:Perfect reasonably priced accom, central location, we rode motorcycles up from Perth, once there the helmets were off until after Brekki the next day.I don't think anything was more than a minutes walk away and apparently the beach is close to !!
Review 35:Central location, could walk to shops, cafes, other places to eat. We were going to a wedding with a bus picking us up, which was right across the road. Nice gardens between the blocks of rooms, friendly and helpful staff
Review 36:Very central location. When i needed to make a last minute ammendment to my accomodation, the staff were very helpful and understanding. Easy walk into town too.
Review 37:Misleading description of shower, spa bath etc. The shower was actually over the spa bath and we are both in our seventies. I personally found it very scary getting in and out of a wet and slippery spa bath using a built in step. Also prefer to see our car, not have it round the back of the unit. Can't understand the planning of that.
Review 38:The bed was an excellent size, very comfortable and felt extremely clean.
Review 39:group of men used the motel for a bucks party and were next to us in room 13 and other rooms next door were occupied by them also they were very noisy and the manager came to them at 3am and asked them to be quite when they went into their rooms they were just as noisy, we didn't get much sleep. We asked earlier to have our room changed but unfortunately there were no rooms available. Made our stay most unpleasant
Review 40:location also close to Bunker Bay where we attended a wedding
Review 41:Pool was dirty, spa wasnt working, turned air con on and mosquitos came out. Said hello to the owner n didnt acknowledge. Motel manager was excellent though.
Review 42:Good location near shops n beach
Review 43:The bed came with just 2 measley pillows. Better pillows or at least 4 pillows are required for comfort while sleeping, and for sitting up to read or watch tv. Free wifi should be available to keep up with the times. Booked last minute during school holiday time so the price available to me was not the best value for the facility.
Review 44:The room (queen room i believe) was large and spacious. Bathroom was clean and modern. Good location in middle of Dunsborough town. Motel comes with pool, spa and bbqs but I did not use any of these facilities.
Review 45:Room had signs of Mould Bathroom shower requires attention could not leave kids in there unsupervised because water would not stay a constant temperature.
Review 46:Bathroom could do with upgrade, clean the bathroom walls and allow swimming longer than sunset( or at least the spa)
Review 47:The upgrade that our room have received is great, beds comfortable and very reasonably priced for the location
Review 48:Kitchen sink was clogged and wouldn't drain so that was unhygienic and caused a bad odour in the kitchen and in cupboards. Bathroom cupboards smelt musty. Musty and bleachy smell in the entire motel unit.
Review 49:Very good location
Review 50:no bad experience...the worst would be having to wait until the solar panels have heated the spa, but doesn't take too long when the sun is shining.
Review 51:we really enjoy staying at this hotel. it is within walking distance to the nearby tavern where live music is played. our room both times has opened up onto the courtyard, which has lawn, tables, bbqs, pool and spa. what else could you ask for? the bbq came in very handy this last long weekend and very convenient. we do pay extra to have a family room, so that we can spread ourselves out a bit more, but the price is still reasonable. staff have always been friendly, and there is plenty of parking available.
Review 52:The green windows above the doors that let the outdoor lighting in all night. Made it hard to stay asleep. Perhaps if the outdoor lighting was turned off after a certain time, or blinds over the glass.
Review 53:The pipe in the bathroom was leaking on the floor. Stuff assured that they would fix it ASAP.
Review 54:Very clean and comfortable room. Location is pretty good- close to local shopping centre. We liked how rooms were called- chardonnay, sauvignon blank, etc, with pictures of bottle of wine on the walls- nice.
Review 55:Room was very large and clean. Had all the basic facilities needed for a confortable stay. Location was excellent as it was near a gas station, some restaurants, and supermarket.
Review 56:The very noisy people in the unit next to us. Kept us up with laughing and loud talking until 1am.
Review 57:Centrally located to town. Well priced for a family or anyone who isn't interested in 5 star. Good value for money. Clean and comfortable.
Review 58:noisy, near main hwy, very old noisy air con in room, considering it was a freezing night, had the heating on, but could not sleep due to the noise of it. reception had a dog in it, and stunk of cigarettes
Review 59:location convenient
Review 60:The room was very dated.... carpet was clean but was dirty and stained. This made the room look dark and gave it a musty smell. When the bathroom fan was turned on, it clunked loudly and was quite noisy for the duration it was on. Old blue cupboards need to also be updated - lots of scratches and chips though functional.
Review 61:Location was excellent. Easy access and parking in the motel complex was easy and accessible. The hotel staff allowed us to book in to our room an hour earlier as we had commitments elsewhere in Dunsborough.
Review 62:Noisy neighbours early in the morning.
Review 63:Walking distance to the town centre. Friendly office staff and good facilities for disabilities. Thank you we would come again.
Review 64:It was disappointing to have people smoking near our room and the stink was coming in via the air con and when we opened the door. It was particularly bad in the morning. Yuck, yuck, yuck!!!!!!
Review 65:The location was excellent and the room quiet and comfortable
Review 66:Stayed twice now and got the same room and fridge was still extremly noisy and couldnt sleep without headphones at night.
Review 67:Always came back to our room clean.
Review 68:WiFi didn't work unless you left the door open, which took away our privacy and cold. We were in a family room.
Review 69:Very helpful. The young lady at front counter, her customer service was excellent.
Review 70:Door handles extremely low & difficult to open, almost had to get down on your knees !! Toilet also too low, can't imagine what it must be like for a tall person.
Review 71:Reasonably priced. Very central. Quieter than I expected given the location.
Review 72:Located a small residential estate, super market and shops in walking distance. an hour drive for whale watching Basic equips kitchenette cleaning fair . but i miss the little dog at the reception.
Review 73:lock on main door looks flimsy as its those push button sort.
Review 74:room is clean and big. kitchen is well equipped. location is excellent near a supermarket and eateries/ restaurant. ample parking for those who drive.
Review 75:The only complaint would be the noisy pipes and sounds when people in adjoining rooms are using the shower.
Review 76:Great location within walking distance to cafes, pubs, and supermarket. Good value for money.
Review 77:Shower was over the spa. Made it hard to get in and out because the sides were so high. Slippery and dangerous.
Review 78:Great location right in the centre of town.
Review 79:gardens around the rooms need revamping a little bit overgrown and untidy. Council Bins located too close to room..
Review 80:Good clean rooms quite good value for money. Reception staff very helpful.
Review 81:great location. central to town and the Dunsborough pub where we were watching a band - pub within walking distance (thumbs up) although we didnt get to use the facilities, such as the spa and pool and bbq area, i would if i stayed in summer and was there longer. i really liked the idea of the common garden area. will definitely stay again when a band we are following plays next door.
Review 82:No wifi in room and a charge associated. Plumbing very noisy, bathroom fan very noisy, car alarm set off at 6 am, plus noise from early departures. Rate clearly inflated as other guests told me of considerably lower rates for exactly the same room. Was not happy.
Review 83:Location
Review 84:It didn't look as good as the picture shown. The airconditioner heating was not warm enough and the tiles in the spa bath could have been cleaner.
Review 85:It was convenient and handy to shops
Review 86:We had no bad experiences.
Review 87:We liked the location and the outdoor Spa was an added bonus. Very clean and staff very friendly and helpful. We upgraded to have full kitchen facilities and the cost of the upgrade certainly paid for itself.
Review 88:Some rooms located away from where cars had to be parked.
Review 89:Great location and good value for money. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 90:Hearing other occupants talk because of the door between our room and theirs.worried they would hear our conversations.
Review 91:Not much human traffic on our front. Relative quietiness whether day or night time. The daily service in the room.
Review 92:Main bed should be a double and microwave should be on a shelf to free up bench space but nothing major really friendly staff would defiantly stay again And pool should be heated by matts on the roof of the hotel it was freezing haha
Review 93:Easy walk to the beach shops close by and family fully self contained room is the go but back packers can be noisy but I wasn't worried about it
Review 94:noise of plumbing from adjacent room during shower use. adjoining door to next door unit.
Review 95:pleasant reception. clean and tidy rooms and grounds. close to amenities . walking distance to shops.
Review 96:I think the lead in rooms are overpriced for how dated and basic they are. Our room was full of Mosquitos and other flying bugs. The shower gets water everywhere and pipes were screeching the whole time. Very basic just a bed to lay ur head!
Review 97:We needed a cheap place to stay for the weekend as we had a wedding close by. The location of this accommodation is great close to everything in town.
Review 98:Nothing bad about the place at all.
Review 99:The location was great. We utilised the BBQ for dinner & breakfast. The grandchildren had a great time in the pool and heated spa.
Review 100:Paid internet and something smells inside the toilet.
Review 101:The location is very convenient. The room is clean and spacious. The toiletries are always refilled. The towels are changed everyday. You can park just right outside your room.
Review 102:Bathroom fan was not adequate for 4 people to shower following each other. Bread for toast for breakfast was mouldy
Review 103:Comfortable beds, but pillows weren't great
Review 104:On the surface the room seemed clean, but there were dirty marks all over the internal doors, light fittings full of dead bugs, bed covers need washing, holes in the blankets, very basic furnishings, towels were clean but stained. Passable, but we won't be back.
Review 105:Location was good, right in town.
Review 106:Bedspreads - would prefer more modern bed linen ie triple sheeting, washable doona cover or the like
Review 107:Easy quick check-in, central lication, very clean rooms, basic but good
Review 108:Paying for wi-fi, a very Australian trend.
Review 109:The location is great in the centre of town, staff friendly on arrival. Good size pool and spa, room facilities were good. This is value for money slightly dated but very clean and comfortable.
Review 110:The room we stayed in was smelly and in desperate need of an update. A nice smelly candle from Coles across the road helped.
Review 111:Location is fantastic for short stay bang in the middle of town.
Review 112:Fantastic central location and cannot beat the value for money. We had a family room and were more than comfortable with 2 young boys. Nice central lawned area, BBQ's, pool and spa. Would stay again!
Review 113:1. Clean and comfortable rooms, with small kitchenette facilities. 2. Convenient location to explore local area 3. Lovely swimming pool and shared outdoors area. 4. Ample parking facilities for guests
Review 114:I was glad we made a last minute choice to stay here. There were many other friendly families. We made a couple of friends around the pool. It was located conveniently near the shops and close to everything! The bonus was the pool and Jacuzi! It was added pleasure having access to these facilities.
Review 115:Dunsborough , everything close at 5.. Pm. Need trash receptacles in parking lot,. And rent bicycle s to see such beautiful place ... Cleaning staff have no clue smiling
Review 116:Location, price and value. Loved it and highly recommendable . Clean and very well sorted facilities ...you are a awesome motel!
Review 117:Honestly, can't really think of anything.
Review 118:Excellent location in centre of town, lovely pool and spa area, room was clean and well appointed, complex was quiet. I booked on very short notice during summer school holidays, so was half expecting it to be a bit average, but was pleasantly surprised. We will definitely be staying here again :)
Review 119:Room stank of stale beer. Hidden charge on arrival for using Internet booking co!!! Hot water very dangerous for children, constantly fluctuates from boiling hot to cold. Staff seemed very happy to give us the hidden charges. If we were not stranded would not have stayed there and will never go back again.
Review 120:The pool.
Review 121:Only 1 very minor thing.More tables and chairs for the garden.
Review 122:This motel is right in the middle of the town and just meters away from Coles supermarket. Spotless room and gardens.Tim the maintenance man was very informative and helpful . housekeeping fabulous.
Review 123:Didn't like that the heated spa was available to children as well as adults which hindered its availability and required maintenance.
Review 124:Loved the convenience of being located right in the heart of Dunsborough.
Review 125:Mostly all good but these days don't want to pay 'large' amounts extra for internet, it's like paying lots to use the pool...
Review 126:All very nice especially good considering the price compared to other places in district which are ridiculously high and won't pay/stay for that. Very helpful to be able to use backpacker lounge and toilets to extend our day in town and leave in cooler evening. Was great to see well stocked crockery and cutlery, fridge and microwave, toaster were very helpful to have cheaper meals -don't want days of takeaway. Staff all friendly and helpful.
Review 127:Adjoining rooms need additional soundproofing as only single door insufficient to stop even ordinary conversations being heard between rooms. Night security non existent. Kept awake till 3.00 am by group of middle aged men drinking and shouting. Reception unhelpful in resolving the problem.
Review 128:Location and facilities were really good.
Review 129:The taps were very 'hammery' and it was quite annoying when trying to shower etc.
Review 130:The pool was very clean and the whole pool area was lovely and relaxing.
Review 131:One of the bathrooms backing on to my bathroom had a severe water pipe hammer in the pipes when turned on with was very loud and annoying. But that can be fixed and was minimal as it was only with showers happening.
Review 132:I enjoyed my stay of five days at the motel and highly recommend the facilities for the attention to detail in their rooms, the room was large enough for three people, there was hot water when required and a kitchen stocked with a toaster, kettle and microwave. Coles supermarket, Subway and Dome cafe across the road with lots of other shops.
Review 133:Outside chairs and a small table would be good.
Review 134:Good size room, spotlessly clean and well equipped. The pool and spa area was great. Really good value for money.
Review 135:Okay, a view over the Bay would have been perfect but sometimes you make choices - pushing the wheelchair there took 10 minutes! Like the other writer, we could do with MORE seating on the grass.
Review 136:The motel is so central and accessible to Geographe Bay and to the cafes in Dunsb but also so accessible to the surrounding areas.
Review 137:Right in the middle of town with parking right outside the front door. The main shopping mall is right over the road and the pub is almost next door. This, plus the quietness makes it the best value for a couple on a short stay.
