Review 1：Clean hotel, nice staff, good breakfast and location. The only drawback - no lift (bring your stuff in backpack rather than in heavy suitcase..). Otherwise recommended for stay while in Osijek :)

We arrived at 7am after an overnight bus and they were so accommodating by letting us into our room early and then giving us coffee and tea. Review 4：Suberb little guesthouse in the fortress of Osijek! Extremely courteous and helpfull staff, enourmous rooms, nice bathrooms, excellent beds and simple but nice breakfast. Free parking in front of the guesthouse. Fortress is a very atmospheric place both day and night. Would have loved to stay longer.

Review 5：The property doesn't have a reception, but there's always someone around. There is a common room with a kitchen where the staff serve a hearty breakfast in the morning. Great, sociable atmosphere, I never felt like in an anonymous hotel but rather being a real guest. Staff and owners are very friendly and helpful with information. My onward journey (planning public transport) hugely depended on their support. The place is within the old fortress, i.e. not in the city centre, but easy to reach. Many restaurants and bakeries (open on late evenings!) around. The location is quiet and rooms are comfortable and furnished tastefully.

Review 6：No proper coffee-only instant. The room (downstairs) had very poor ventilation and was a bit dark due to a small entrance area in front.

Dora made me a delicious omelette and coffee for breakfast. Best area in town for nightlife. If you are in Osijek, I can't see anywhere else to stay!!!

The quality of accommodation and the level of service make you feel like staying at a 5 star hotel. The only difference is the atmosphere- that is much cozier. Review 24：The location, room, staff, owner. Everything was perfect. I was nervous with going to east Croatia for the first time. The staff were wonderful, they procured a name of an excellent tour guide for the city. They also worked very hard at guiding us to great restaurants and a memorial museum in another city.

Our room was on the first floor of the guesthouse but there are also rooms on the ground floor. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed. The breakfast certainly set us up for the rest of the day.

Rooms were spacious, clean and in keeping with the era (except for the bathroom which was modern). A friendly environment was created which led to interesting breakfast conversations. A lovely selection of breakfast offerings and tea/coffee making facilities throughout the day/night, provided all one could expect. Added to the above, I had invaluable assistance with making train/bus/taxi arrangements. A faultless experience, which I hope to have again in the future.

There was also free wifi and informationavailable at the reception on the local area, including the In YourPocket Guide to Osijek, which was particularly useful.The guesthouse is located in the old part of town, in the fort and is right next to the Museum of Slavonia and the Archeological Museum as well as lots of bars and restaurants. It is an easy 20 minutes walk, either by the riverside or through the parks, into the centre where there are further places to eat and drink as well as the Art gallery and impressive cathedral. I highly recommend Guesthouse Maksimilian and would definitely stay there again!

Review 71：The staff at this guesthouse surpassed all of the previous excellent reviews. They were delighted we were staying for 5 nights rather than the 1 or 2 most guests stay. As a result they gave us recommendations, tips and were happy to chat during downtime. breakfast was plentiful, the room spacious and clean and the communal areas a great lace to meet and chat with fellow travellers. For the price and location in the Old Town we don't think it could be bettered!
