Reviews for Valleyview House

Review 1:The room I had, had passing 'traffic' of people in the corridor, so wasn't completely quiet until the rest of the place had gone to bed. I always travel with ear plugs, so it wasn't a massive issue, just worthy of mention for future travellers

Review 2:Lovely, clean, comfortable place with very friendly owners

Review 3:The owner was lovely and the accommodation was superb. Can't fault anything. We were heading to Orkney and had been rerouted to the Scrabster ferry, as the Aberdeen ferry was cancelled due to the weather, so this was a last minute booking and it proved to be an excellent choice.

Review 4:Nothing

Review 5:Really lovely B&B, very welcoming with a comfortable room and nice bathroom. Friendly host, full of local knowledge and generally very helpful Lovely breakfast!

Review 6:The best B&B we have been to in a long time. Very friendly and organised hosts. The house has character with cleanliness. High quality Breakfast (better than some hotels we have been to) and great conversation. What I love best of all is "Toffee" Antoinette's pet Highland Cow.

Review 7:There was some problem with heating, but was fixed in the end. I think the problem is that they have one central thermostat which doesn't give independence to each room. We missed the option of salmon in the breakfast.

Review 8:The place looks very nice, but we had about average experience. It's clean and nice interior.

Review 9:The sea view from the room was very distant but not a deal breaker. Nowhere within walking distance for an evening meal, but again, not a real problem.comfor

Review 10:Friendly and welcoming. Lovely breakfast.

Review 11:We liked a lot the position in the middle of the country (could be a problem if you're not travelling with your own car); the room, and the house in general, was lovely, very cared in each detail. The breakfast very good.

Review 12:Nothing really. The weather could have been better!!

Review 13:We liked the outlook and views of Dunnet Head, the very stylish decor and furnishings, the breakfast, and convenient layout and parking. The rooms was close to the front door and we were able to bring in all our stuff and have a good sorting out ! The ensuite was spacious and sparkling.

Review 14:I was only able to stay one night!

Review 15:WOW WOW WOW!!!! The best B&B I have ever stayed at. The room was beautiful with a view overlooking the Orkney Isles. Breakfast was made with good quality ingredients and extremely tasty. Antoinette was a fantastic hostess, telling us about the house, the area.

Review 16:The host was extremely friendly and helpful about what to see in the area. Very nice breakfast. A good area to stay - out of the township with open spaces and beautiful sunset.

Review 17:One petty little thing...there were no washclothes....American's generally like them. That being said...I didn't ask for one either.

Review 18:A very clean, relatively large room that was very modern. There was a very lovely, large backyard that was very inviting...except it rained and we only stayed one night. The owener was gracious and the breakfast was good.

Review 19:There was absolutely nothing I didn't like about this place.

Review 20:They were welcoming and very helpful. The whole property was very well presented. Breakfast in the dining room was lovely.

Review 21:Beautiful well appointed rooms. Absolutely spotless. Access to a lovely comfortable drawing room. Warm welcoming hostess. Very knowledgable re the area. Excellent breakfast.

Review 22:Nothing, except be warned if you are relying on a Satnav you will be sent on a mystery tour down a lane no where near the actual Guesthouse!! Suggest that you WATCH out for B&B signs instead.

Review 23:A small intimate and very comfortable Guesthouse were it was a shame we were only able to book for one night.

Review 24:Really nice place, nice bed, nice staff, nice breakfast - just felt very welcome. Even though, the house is situated outside Thurso in the middle of nowhere, it is well worth it.

Review 25:the house was a little out of the town centre but had a lovely view. Breakfast was excellent, room was spacious and good shower too. Also they had a highland cow called Toffee who was gorgeous

Review 26:Nothing.

Review 27:This B&B is on the northern coast of Scotland near Thurso. It is a nice comfortable house with well equipped rooms and modern bathrooms. Very clean. The location is outside of any major settlement, but it does provide for peace and quiet.

Review 28:There was an audible hum coming from a water pump or heating in my ground floor room which I thought will be distracting in the night but it wasn't. I got used to it after while and I slept very well. There is no restaurant in walking distance so you need to use car to get to eat in Thurso which means you can't have few pints there but that is really just minor thing.

Review 29:At the start I was bit confused when I entered this facility and I couldn't get hold of anyone for few minutes despite shouting "Hello!" but then I was spotted by the owner and all went very well after that. I was pleased by the comfortable equipment of my room and I really enjoyed tasty breakfast in company of other guests. The room as well as the bathroom was very clean and tidy. Just don't forget to use door bell if you can't get attention of anyone in the house and all will be great.

Review 30:A little hard to find using a GPS.

Review 31:Hostess was very friendly and passionate about the region she lives in. She was an excellent ambassador for the northern highlands. The property was excellently maintained.

Review 32:Only problem is that it's located near Thurso and is convenient only (from my point of view) for the Orkney ferry.

Review 33:When you equip a B & B to your own tastes and obviously without a budget, you get close to perfection. This was it!

Review 34:Antoinette was a wealth of information and help. Her eye for design and beauty made us feel like we were staying in a very expensive hotel, while her friendliness felt like staying with family. Our best stay of our vacation.

Review 35:Lovely property in a picturesque spot just outside Thurso. Lovely bedroom with a very comfy bed and plenty of the little extras like coffee, tea biscuits, soap, shower gel and lovely fluffy towels.

Review 36:Nothing to fault

Review 37:Antoinette & Stephen were excellent hosts! Breakfast was excellent and plentiful and couldn't be any better, as was the bedroom and facilities. All in all a fabulous place to stay and with equidistance between Castletown and Thurso you can't go wrong.

Review 38:We only stayed for the one night, but everything was perfect here. The rooms were very clean and comfy, and there was a great selection of tea and coffee in the room. The bathroom was great as well. There was a nice view, and it was easy to find. Breakfast was amazing, honestly some of the best we had during our 10-day vacation.

Review 39:This was an ideal location for a night stopover prior to my daughter competing in a local swimming gala. The hosts were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The room was lovely and a superb breakfast set my daughter up for a great days swimming.

Review 40:Guest rooms on ground level . Separated from rest of house . Lots of helpful information given about what to do and where to go .Wonderful breakfast in lovely dining room.

Review 41:......543 miles from home.......

Review 42:.....furniture and fittings all solid made , top quality , comfy bed i did not hang over the edges of ; not in the middle of town but i knew that ; delightful hosts , fantastic views

Review 43:friendliness of host, gave us helpful information about local area eg tips on where to eat in Thurso and to visit the visitor centre [Caithness Horizons] in Thurso, which we did and would rate that 10/10. Comfortable room, with good facilities. Delicious cooked breakfast, and plenty of choice of cereals, juices, yoghurts, fresh fruit and breads, which really set us up for the day!

Review 44:Our host and hostess were wonderful and very cordial. The room was very comfortable and very nicely furnished. The breakfast was excellent. The location near Thurso and Gill's Bay make it a great stopping place to and from Orkney.

Review 45:Location beautiful. Seaview from our window looking out across to Dunnet Head. Breakfast served was fantastic and set us up for our long day of travelling ahead. Antoinette and Stephen very welcoming and gave us lots of information regarding places to visit in the surrounding area.

Review 46:Not many pubs/restaurants in the surrounding area, this isn't a criticism of the property at all just useful for others to know!!!

Review 47:Lovely comfortable bed Sea views in the distance

Review 48:shower a bit weak. and shower door wrong size for the modern shower base ( I am only 5foot 8 inches but managed to bash my head on the lintel)

Review 49:nice room, good breakfast, friendly people.

Review 50:Our visit was not long enough.A fortnight wouldn't be long enough.

Review 51:The whole package. From the welcome when we arrived, the friendliness during our stay, the chats and stories.Suggestions of where to visit.Breakfast was something else, better than we get at home! Would recommend it to friends and family. We intend to return for another visit.

Review 52:The shower pressure was a bit feeble.

Review 53:The accomodation has off street parking. It has easy access to Thurso for business. The rooms are warm, comfortable and totally self contained. Breakfast was really tasty and served very quickly. I would use the accomodation again.

Review 54:The house was situated in a short lane and the owner was very friendly. The room was comfortable and as it was just before Christmas the house had the lovely warm spicy Christmassy smell. The pub down the road in Murkle served nice food as well.

Review 55:This accommodation is excellent value for the money, arrived to find they had given us a free upgrade ,en-suite was really good size so was the bedroom and very comfortable owners were very friendly and breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice.

Review 56:Rooms in the house of the owners Children playing upstairs above your room until 1130pm Nothing around the B&B and very limited places to eat in Thurso

Review 57:Clean Owners friendly

Review 58:Lack of a comfortable chair and dislike having to lie on bed to watchTVhad also not checked availability of evening meal and had to go awayback into Thurso to look for a restaurant(6miles a round trip) but myfault!! Duvet on bed was so heavy and heating turned off far too earlyfor me. Went to have a shower at 11pm and the bathroom and bedroom werepretty cold so I just retired for the night instead. In all though it wasa pleasant stay after spending the previous night in Lairg which wasdire!!That was my worst stay ever!!

Review 59:very small room & beds Probably the smalletje fridge in the world (1/2 33 cc cans max) NOT clear which areas are public Overated 25 % too expensive

Review 60:Breakfast OK Friendly

Review 61:Nice rural setting with easy access to town for meals and close to ferry for trips to Orkney Islands Wonderful hosts clean home and nice guest to meet

Review 62:The room was a little small.

Review 63:The relaxed atmosphere. Room was clean and comfortable. Food was great. Hosts were lovely. Got to brush a highland cow and pat the sheep.

Review 64:I was advertised as having laundry facilities by Booking.com but they did not have these services which we needed. Also, we had to pay cash and they did not accept a credit card which we expected.

Review 65:Bedroom was homely and cosy; bed very comfortable; bathroom modern; beautiful surroundings. Tasty cooked breakfast in morning. The owners were hospitable and friendly

Review 66:Slightly soft bed but we are really being picky at this price

Review 67:Great breakfast spacious room friendly host easily found just off the main road from thurso to John o'groats. Plenty parking. Only 20 minutes from the gills bay ferry

Review 68:We liked the location away from the busy traffic, just outside Thurso. We could park the car on the inner courtyard. Antoinette gave us very good advice on places to visit.

Review 69:The warm welcome, comfortable bed, delicious full breakfast and friendly conversation with Antoinette and other guests. Best B&B I've ever stayed in.

Review 70:Nothing, but having to leave.

Review 71:The welcome from Antoinette & she has a wealth of local info, much better than local tourist info ! Food was great & the views. Would love more time there ! Her personality plus creates a very friendly environment. Great value.

Review 72:Located outside Thuro but just a 5 min drive to the city. Friendly host. Nice, large room. Liked the big breakfast table, that let to a nice conversation with the other guests.

Review 73:Duvet much too hot. Option of sheet and throw not available. Thought about fairtrade tea, sugar and coffee ? Also no decaf.

Review 74:Nice welcome. Plenty of cushions for watching TV. Small fresh jug of milk in mini fridge would have been good. Liked the communal dining table for breakfast.

Review 75:Not much. Only one thing traveler needs to know is how to find this place as GPS couldn't find it. The best thing to do is to call ahead.

Review 76:Comfortable, quiet, good for passing by stop.

Review 77:Peaceful location, we had a nice walk down to the sea in the evening. The room was very comfortable and breakfast was very good, great produce well cooked. We would stay here again without any resevations

Review 78:What could there be to not like!!

Review 79:Our host was very welcoming and informative of places to visit during our short stay. The room was excellent, clean, beautifully prepared and a good en-suite, providing all we needed. Nice touches included the biscuits and chocolate ones too. An excellent breakfast. A credit to the owner.

Review 81:Hosts were very charming, helpful yet unobtrusive. Bedroom and shower room were of a high standard, breakfast excellent. Location perfect and easy access to local beaches and restaurants in Thurso

Review 82:Excellent accommodation comfortable surroundings, made very welcome from the start. The choice of breakfast was also outstanding. I would recommend anyone to stay in this accommodation.

Review 83:This B & B was lovely. The staff were very friendly & accommodating. The location is lovely with lovely views. The breakfast was delicious, with very good quality ingredients. The room was beautiful, comfortable, homely and clean. I highly recommend it.

Review 84:As a slightly more expensive B&B we would have expected face flannels and tissues in the room. No fish option offered at breakfast. There was an odour from the en-suite on arrival and at times. There were no relaxing chairs in the room. No room information was provided, and we were not sure if the sitting room was for the use of guests or not. No credit cards are accepted - this should be made clear on the Booking.com confirmation that is sent to guests wherever establishments do not accept cards for payment.

Review 85:Clean and spacious room. Comfortable bed. Most facilities one would expect at a high class B&B. Good quality breakfast. Very warm welcome and friendly service at all times.
