Reviews for The Inn @ Y-Not
Review 1:When I checked in both the hotel and the Internet booking company took payments from my account and it would take over a week for it to be returned to my account even though it was the last cash I had in that account which I had with me
Review 2:Very clean and modern. Even when there was a problem (which does happen) the staff where quick to do there best to resolve it
Review 3:Great staff, the bed was sensational and the breakfast spot on. Loved the whole rock&roll bar theme downstairs with great food, music and 2 minute walk to the beach. Great pint as well
Review 4:No hotel facilities ie reception, lounge etc Not obvious at first who was actually in charge of the premises. Collect room key from bar! WiFi ok in bar (the Cloud) but poor in our room (No.3) All minor quibbles as we enjoyed our stay.
Review 5:Modern room conversions in separate section from bistro/bar area. Mid-week stay so area was very quiet and noise transmission between rooms was very low level. Had a tasty meal at night and continental breakfast for £5 (coffee extra) was pleasant and good value for what you got.
Review 6:Not one negative thing to say!
Review 7:Great town centre location, great staff, beautiful ultra modern bedroom, good breakfast and fantastic evening menu. Loved it!
Review 8:Nothing
Review 9:Nothing to complain about everything excellent comfort cleanliness , staff make you welcome come and chat see how your holiday is going , food excellent maybe a expensive if you have a family ,really recommend this inn definitely go back
Review 10:The exterior of this Inn is very tired but this is much like a lot of the buildings in the area, don't let this put you off.
Review 11:Modern, clean and inexpensive. We ate in the evening and the food was amazing!
Review 12:Loved our loft conversion room, was perfect! Absolutely spotless! Impressed with the hanging rail area before entering bedroom (no mess or clutter with baggage etc in room or beds) tea/coffee facilities and excellent size bathroom with shower.
Review 13:I suppose it was the fact you had to go out of the main building to get to the bedrooms.
Review 14:It was very comfortable with very helpful, friendly staff. The rooms were lovely, clean and modern. The bathroom was excellent with everything we needed.
Review 15:There was some kind of boiler or other pipework directly through the wall from the headboard and kept making a frequent noise which disturbed sleep.
Review 16:The overall experience was very good for my needs - short business trip. No fuss and the room was exactly as advertised for a good value for money price.
Review 17:View of tiled roof, but we spent most of out time out and about. Bit of a journey up and down stairs to get to room, so could be a problem if you have a heavy bag.
Review 18:Beautiful room, appeared newly renovated. Good air flow and natural lighting. Located centrally and over pub/restaurant but was actually very quiet as it was in another part of the building. Friendly helpful staff. Convenient to restaurant where we both enjoyed our dinner meal.
Review 19:No reception but check-in at the bar of disco(?) and entrance to rooms through a backdoor. Very off-putting. Despite newish room, window fitting failed to work and bathroom lighting was inadequate. Poorish breakfast extra. Not good value. Uninspiring menu so I ate out, at Le Bistro in Traill Street, which I can highly recommend.
Review 20:Comfortable bed.
Review 21:Room is modern with excellent beds and a great shower. During our stay the room was very quiet. This comment is made as the three rooms are attached to a pub. Initial check in is inside of the pub but after that you are given a key to enter through another entrance.
Review 22:Breakfast should really be included with an £84.00 room.
Review 23:Good location in the centre of town, quality food available, and the rooms are modern, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. It was nice to travel from Uddingston to find Tunnock's Teacakes in the room instead of the usual twin packet of cheap biscuits.
Review 24:Breakfast not included in price, then paid for a poor disappointing breakfast. No use for when working away from home.
Review 25:Rooms very pleasant Bar meals good Location good
Review 26:Breakfast not included. Manageress on here iPhone or iPad constantly rather than attending to guests at breakfast. You had to interrupt her to get something! Though she was polite it didn't create a good impression. Checking in at the bar seems rather unorthodox and breakfast in the bar seems strange.
Review 27:Cleanliness of room, cafitiere in room and fresh coffee. Tunnocks teacakes in room. Staff friendly.
Review 28:In the past I was offered a disability room which I did not like for personnel reasons and I would suggest when bookings are made you point out that this is the disability room and is this acceptable. But that was a long time ago
Review 29:1st week I stayed there was a mix up with room and was charged £320 for 4night's for myself very noisy due to bar below. 2nd week charged £220! More like it. No breakfast included in price! Surcharge lol! couldn't get any wifi in room.
Review 30:Location
Review 31:Two things really . One personal I had great difficulty getting an Internet connection in my room for my I Pad though it was perfect on the ground floor area. The other is that Breakfast was not included as I think that should always be a facility included in the price.
Review 32:The welcoming feeling one got when first entering the premises. Nothing appeared to be too much trouble for the staff and the noticeable aura of general wellbeing of the whole place.
Review 33:Room furniture lacking chair to relax, a little noisy from bar below, music, people leaving at " chucking - out" time.
Review 34:Good clean comfy room central location. Bar food really good.
Review 35:Wondered what on earth I'd let myself in for! A room above a youngpersons boozer?
Review 36:As it turned out, it was absolutely brilliant. Room was spotless, staff faultless, not really my sort of place, though - or so Ithought! It turned out to be excellent, good breakfast, and would I goback? A big, fat, yes!
Review 37:Rate did not include breakfast, which suits us fine as I have a full Scottish and my wife has something light, which was cheaper. For our evening meal we had haddock and chips. Best haddock I have had in years, thick fillets and very fresh.
Review 38:Small car park (not a problem as I parked with ease) Breakfast at 8am (but offered a continental earlier if I wanted it)
Review 39:Staff -welcoming and efficient Food - good and quick service Value for money Bedroom - clean and modern
Review 40:WiFi was intermittent which was a bit of a pain as I was trying to catch up with some work in the evening.
Review 41:Bed was really comfortable, room temperature great for good nights sleep. Simple hearty, tasty pub food in bar. Friendly staff. Good value for money. A very pleasant stay that exceeded my expectations.
Review 42:No lifts to the upper floors. This didn't affect us at all but anyone with any walking difficulties should be aware of this as it is quite a climb to the top floor.
Review 43:We spent one night here. Rooms seemed almost bran new with excellent facilities. Quiet. Lovely staff. Nice lively bar. (It was Scottish independence election night!) Would stay there again.
Review 44:As per other comments. Don't let the approach to this location put you off. The bar is a great place to relax. Yes it probably can get noisy at the weekends as it is a live music venue. But midweek and during the day it is a great place to relax, has a really good choice of excellent food place an impressive cocktail list. The bedrooms are modern and comfortable. The best thing though is the staff who were fantastic
Review 45:Bar noise kept one of our party awake. Did get confused when we had to register inside the restaurant/bar. Outside door on main road was locked. But we soon found it.
Review 46:liked the single beds for we six sisters travelling. Very clean rooms. Nice staff and good food.
Review 47:The outside appearance of the Hotel is somewhat off putting on arrival. However this is soon dispelled after entering. Car parking is limited but public parking is close by.
Review 48:Very comfortable clean accommodation. Good food menu and nicely cooked. This is a very interesting Pub venue with music and entertainment. However, the bedrooms are quite remote from the bar areas and noise should not be a major problem.
Review 49:Nothing.
Review 50:Good food in the restaurant and at a reasonable price too which meant we didn't need to go anywhere else. We stayed on a week night so it was quite quiet in the surrounding area but that was just what we were looking for, somewhere convenient to stay, with pleasant helpful staff and good food. The shower in the room was excellent after a long day travelling.
Review 51:The outside of the building needs a bit of work to brighten up - it in no way represents the high quality to which the rooms have been done to.
Review 52:The room was in excellent condition, clean and fresh. We both slept very well indeed. It was obvious that the room was new - confirmed by the staff who said the suite of six rooms were about a year old. I'd use it again if I was in Thurso. Breakfast was great and the staff very friendly.
Review 53:I only slept over, arriving late in the evening and leave for Orkney early in the morning. But the bed in the en-suite single room is very comfortable, had a good night sleep.
Review 54:Staff very helpful and welcoming which made the stay pleasant. Error in my booking which was my fault and they picked this up on check in but sorted out for me. Bar area amazingly tidy and clean which one of the staff had worked hard on. Rooms comfortable and had everything needed. Thanks for a great stay.
Review 55:the approach to the room is through the pub/reception the alternative access is through the emergency exit from the pub. There was no wi-fi accessability in the bedroom
Review 56:as this is a new facility the conversion above a pub the bedroom & bathroom being new , were good but little thought given to where you hang a towel or stow soap or shampoo
Review 57:It's appears to close to the bar if there was a busy night or function on. There was no reception which could have been difficult had I arrived at a busy time
Review 58:Everything was good as far as I could see. Very comfortable room and a good location
Review 59:When I first saw the location and the exterior of the hotel, I had my doubts, also the location was a bit drab. However once inside all was well!
Review 60:The accommodation was clean and had modern bathroom. The food was very tasty and the staff very attentive and helpful.
Review 61:We had room 4 on a Saturday night. People smoked outside the pub which was immediately below. The noise from the pub prevented sleep and even made the TV hard to hear. The pub door slammed when anyone went in causing the bed to vibrate and the table lamp.
Review 62:Lack of hand-washing soap in the bathroom. Nowhere in the shower to put soap/shampoo in use, except the wet floor. No disposal bags for sanitary products.
Review 63:Bright, contemporary décor. Very comfortable beds. Provision of face flannels in the bathroom (excellent! That hardly ever happens). Helpful, enthusiastic staff. Excellent food. Lively bar.
Review 64:the only complaint would have to be that the service is pretty slow.
Review 65:Without a doubt the best place to stay when working up in Thurso, food excellent, accomodation is brilliant, decnt shower too!
Review 66:the room we stayed in was absolutley lovely, however sparsley furnished, could have done with a luggage/bag stand.and the WI-FI was not easily accesible without registering for it.
Review 67:It was a well looked after, newly refurbished, clean, big room, with an equally lovely en-suite. And really great location, not even having to leave the premisis to get to the restaurant/bar. they served lovely meals and brekfast lots of space to sit vey chilled out vibe. well reccommended
Review 68:Although most sachets in the room were fair trade, tea sachets were not.
Review 69:Staff were professional and pleasant. Room - pleasant and quiet. Breakfast - good. Staff provided breakfast items, as requested, to take with us for our very early train on departure morning.
Review 70:A little noisey from bar but not that disruptive
Review 71:Great modern rooms
Review 72:Be aware that the bar downstairs plays loud music every night until 2am. You can here it from every room.
Review 73:Great room .spotless
Review 74:No bad experience,
Review 75:Great hotel, good food, excellent staff. Good base for exploring far north.
Review 76:Easy to find , clean & tidy , friendly staff
Review 77:Not good for anyone who can't manage stairs!
Review 78:Lovely, friendly place to stay in a great central location
Review 79:Clean and comfortable. Above the pub, so no lift, but friendly young staff. Good meals. Enjoyed our stay, would stay again.
Review 80:Matresses a little on the hard side.
Review 81:Convenient for our journey. Attentive and helpful staff. Very well furnished room. Slept well, not noisy.
Review 82:Uninspiring menu. Reception was in the bar, entrance through the bar or a fire door in a back street.
Review 83:Lovely helpful staff
