Reviews for Holborn Hotel
Review 1:It was a little noisy in the room because there is a single entry point for the restaurant, bar and hotel.
Review 2:The staff were very helpful, the bed comfy and the room clean. Good breakfast.
Review 3:Eh. Nothing in particular. The restaurant was a bit pricey but the breakfast included in the price was good. Nothing that I didn't really like, I just didn't love it.
Review 4:It was what it was. It was a good location to head over to Orkney, which is why we were there. Breakfast was good. A bit expensive but on par with the accommodation in the area.
Review 5:I did not have any hot water for a shower for washing and in the end boiled a kettle to wash.
Review 6:The staff were friendly. The food was good, and the breakfast was superb.
Review 7:'24 hour cancellation' not 24 hrs before checkin time but before 00:00 before checkin. Parking Welcome - not clear where reception was Very small sink so difficult to fill kettle Soap dispenser changed but not opened, too me a while to figure it out.
Review 8:Location Food Bed
Review 9:I didn't like Room 14 as it is located next door to the Take Away where the Saturday night drunks gathered from midnight onwards, shouting and swearing and were heard in the vicinity until approximately 3.30am!! I should have asked for another room but didn't. I was convinced that my window was open but unfortunately it wasn't! My pal got another room elsewhere in the building and heard no such racket. Great hotel but Room 14 should be soundproofed at the weekend.
Review 10:Lovely wee hotel, nice staff, comfortable room and awesome breakfast
Review 11:The room was well presented and the breakfast was excellent. There is limited hotel parking but I got a space easily. There is a really nice bar and restaurant down stairs which I couldn’t hear from my room. The reception desk is never manned so you end up going to the bar to get assistance but all the staff were really nice and helpful. The WIFI didn't work during my stay and I had a punctured tyre on my motorbike so needed to get a replacement. The young man behind the bar was amazing help getting me the details of the nearest garage. I’d definately stay here again.
Review 12:It was a Friday night, and music in the bar went on until 1am (normally I would be in the bar, but I had to get up early). The noise in the street went on until well after 2am.
Review 13:The restaurant is excellent. The single room, while small, was very comfortable.
Review 14:Very high price for very small single room. Limited breakfast choice if you didn't fancy a fry up.
Review 15:Not much.overpriced online. Cheaper by walking in off the street. Has a pub attached and the beer was good.
Review 16:The bathroom was the size of a small closet and moldy. The room was run down and tacky.
Review 17:Nice staff, very helpful. The restaurant was very nice.
Review 18:There was confusion over our room being double booked. I guess the other couple complained more than we did because we ended up on the top floor with an angled ceiling directly above the bed. This meant it was physically impossible to sit up in bed! Having just cycled 400 miles I didn't have the energy to complain any more!
Review 19:Food was very good
Review 20:Very minimal parking, that said, plenty in pay & display. Room notice advises on local parking though.
Review 21:Location, staff, room, breakfast. Central to everything you could need for entertainment and eating out. I'd stay again.
Review 22:We arrived at 10pm on a Friday evening after a 16 hour journey. The bar downstairs had really loud garage music until 1am. Unable to sleep until the music stopped.
Review 23:Excellent breakfast, clean room, helpful staff and good location.
Review 24:Very hard to find, entrance is located on side street not on the street listed as their address. Even with GPS we rode around for 30 minutes before asking a local. Desk was not manned but they came when we rang the bell. Hotel is small as were the rooms but they were clean and the wifi worked. The barmaid was helpful when we needed directions to Tesco for medicine. We worried that the carpark would not be available when we returned (only 4 spots) but she stood outside and watched our spot for us!!
Review 25:Clean room and wifi
Review 26:We arrived late on a Friday evening, but were not informed that there would be entertainment in the bar on Saturday evening. Having spent a full Saturday exploring the area we were tired and retired to bed about 9.30pm. At 10pm the entertainment started. what a dreadful noise, drums and "singing" for almost 2 hours. No sleep was possible.I did complain on Sunday morning, but no apology from management recieved. Leaving after breakfast on Monday, a courteous thanks for staying would have been appreciated - nothing. The en-suite facilities were OK. Excellent shower, but the height of sink was obviously catering for very short people. To wet shave without kneeling was impossible. Also unable to fill kettle directly, had to use a plastic cup to transfer water from tap. The Boy racers are obviously a feature of Thurso, but again not easy to sleep with exhaust noises from their souped up cars.
Review 27:Quality of Breakfast was very good. Free Wi-Fi. Comfortable beds.
Review 28:Room awkward to use eg no plug for kettle near tray with tea/coffee etc. Basin very small so difficult to put water in kettle. Towel rail in an awkward place although there was adequate room for a rail in a more suitable space.

Review 70:Needs to make up mind as to whether its an accommodation provider or a nightlife centre. The bad band playing to 3am accompanied by female shrieks not conducive to sleep. Review 77:Food was good in the hotel restaurant, The Red Pepper, close to main street, staff excellent, clean rooms, Thurso lots to offer, lovely walk along the riverbank.
Review 78:Wifi was not working all night. this was one of the main reasons I chose this hotel since I am traveling alone and need to keep in touch with people at home. Nothing could be done about it but a discount might have been in order.

Review 81:Food was excellent. Location was convenient. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms clean and functional.
Review 82:Very ancient small Decca TV which must have been 15-20 years old. Small flat screen TV's are pretty cheap now, which can be easily wall mounted.

Review 84:Room was in attic - could not sit up in bed because of roof slope. Romm facilities not all maintained to highest standard
Review 85:Food very good - restaurant is their strong point
Review 86:There was a live band playing in the hotel bar until 1 o'clock inthe morning which prevented us from sleeping, we were not informed thiswould be the case at check-in.
